Portal and Cave Creek ❤❤❤ we spent the last 2 weeks of the yr here and we did not want to leave. We saw Coatis here on a hiking trail. We stayed in Sunny Flats and walked a trail to the Vistor Center. The Visitor Center provides you a map with all the boondocking spots in the forest between there and Chiricahua on the forest roads. So we headed up the forest roads and rang in the new year in complete silence ❤Watching this makes us want to go back NOW!!!!
I often make cowboy stew in the crock pot on travel days. Just meat, potatoes, onion, and a can of Bushes Baked beans. Season to taste and add any left over or frozen veggies you like. Most of our travel days are long, as we’re not full time. I usually set it on low for 5 to 8 hours and once camp is set up, dinner is already done after a long day of driving. If you use the liners clean up takes little to no water and is simple also. Definitely relieves a lot of stress and is filling comfort food. The larger liners work in the smaller crock pots, just hang over more. Plus if you use it while driving, the truck keeps the battery charged even if it’s cloudy and low solar. Just a win all around.
i' Heard about Those CrockPot Liners@ atk They Said They Where Safe & Sound Like a Vg way to Go4 Nomads, may as Well Use Large Pot 4, 2/3 Dinners 4, Two iS DoabLe, Peace
Ahhhh, those mountains are absolutely breathtaking! I can’t imagine what they’re like in person! You have the knack for finding the most awesome and beautiful places to camp!!!! Thanks for the ride!
Was a little worried since you hadn't posted for awhile. So nice to see you back again. Loved that area. I really love those old stone houses and walls. Areas like that are terrific, but i always wonder what people do there for healthcare. Great camping area too. Spectacular mountian views. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Yes, it's really nice there. If you had continued south-ish from Sunny Flat campground you would've seen more caves, some of them looking like faces. It's also a popular birding area. Chiricahua National monument on the west side of those mountains has some great views and trails among the hoodoos. A word of warning, though if you want to boondock along Pinery Canyon Road just outside the monument: the section of the road through private land is some of the nastiest washboard I have ever driven. At least it was when I was there.
Those rocks are stunning ❤. I can imagine at Golden hour😮! Id love to camp there! Is Kellie ok? Say hello and I'm thinking of her too. Hugs to you all from Pennsylvania ❤️
So happy to see your newest video. I’ve been checking, thinking my notifications weren’t working. Beautiful views and narration, as always! Thanks for sharing. ✌️❤️🚐
Was just in the Chiricahua's this weekend. Camped near the creek by Portal. Cool area, def jealous you cruised it on a bike. Be careful of illegal alien activity out there.
Impressive mountains! I think that is a part of AZ I haven't visited. I would definitely go for one of those NF campgrounds at Cave Creek Canyon. Those trees leafing out were so beautiful. Thanks for taking us along Brian!
Hey Brian.. beautiful area to camp in. That burger looked awesome ! Nothing like adventuring and coming back to the van to warm up..snug as a bug in a rug 😁👍✌️
I wondered how your power holds out with the crockpot pulling continuously. I had friends with an off grid cabin and they were told to avoid the crockpot to save their batteries. I’m a pressure cooker fanatic for the speed and similar results. Loved the drone photos. What great spots you find!
Glad your back Brian, always love your videos. Once again, you just sniff out perfect campsites like a bloodhound sniffing out an escaped convict. I’m marking that campsites for future reference. You also have me craving beef stew. Dammit!
My favorite place. I camp at Sunnyflat. Used to be $5 for camping and no day use fee. Don't you love inflation? I have a friend who loves in Portal. Did you check out the post office and library? A lot of good places to hike and if you'd have kept going on that road you'd have been treated to a magnificent view.
Brian I had to pause your amazing video and comment. That bike ride and drone shot through that campground was STELLAR !! Great job capturing the beauty of the wonderful west. Well done my friend. Well done.
Hey bud we love watching your adventures especially different dishes that you cook Always gives us good ideas for when we go out camping. Thanks again Stay safe
Brian, Portal is one of our favs. You can ride that road right up into those mountains with lots of interesting places to find. BLM'S Indian Bread Rocks is across on other side of I-10. Back in from there is Fort Bowie. Go over the mount from there to huge ranching valley. You can end up at Chiricahua National Monument with rich history and great scenery too. Rode out through mountains there too. Camping to be had that away. There are hot springs in the area too. That Wilcox area is rich with nuggets and history. Blessings.
Hi Brian and Kelly! We made a ride and said hi to you on our way way to Oklahoma. Aren’t the Chiricahuas beautiful! If you camp on the other side of the mountains near Rucker canyon is, there are some beautiful off grid places you can camp. You guys would really love a bike ride to Portal over the mountain. It’s Paradise! There’s a hidden little town called Paradise. Hope to be able to hang with you guys sometime. Peace and love to you both!🥰✌🏼
Hi Brian, I'm sorry I'm late but I just found your video. I enjoyed it very much. It's amazing how your timing worked out. Back in time to change into dry clothes and have a nice bowl of warm stew. And then the rain came. Great job! Hugs for you, Kelly and Hobbs , your friend, Louise
What awesome spots you find on your travels Brian. Those rock formations are beautiful. For your slow cooker stew, instead of adding water, have you ever tried a dark, IPA style beer? We use this trick quite often, it makes for a nice rich gravy. Stay safe ✌️
Home steads are over rated. Stay free, I sold my land because of endless red tape. I'm back in my Schooley and I feel way better. Peace to ya all from Kenny. I enjoy your stuff.
USDA notes that vegetables take longer to cook than meat in a crockpot, therefore suggest putting veggies in first. Strange, but true. A brief veggie sauté is helpful.
I do love watching your videos & the eye you have for capturing beautiful bits of nature. It does my heart good, especially when I can't get out to see it for myself. TY for sharing!
We missed ya Brian! Good to see you. Ive been telling Ken we need to go back there, been to long! We saw our first bears in the wild there abt 6 yrs ago. Mama & 2 cubs!! So cool & beautiful there. Living only a cpl hours or more from there, we really should go more often.
My backyard. ❤ I’m a few hours away. Cave Creek is awesome. You need to go higher up the canyon and find the non forest campgrounds that charge. That road will go over the top the mountain and down the west side as well to the monument. Good to see you back Brian.
I’m headed west next month. I want to stay in Arizona for the summer and was asking if it stays cool enough up in the mountains to not be uncomfortable? I want to camp in Colorado next summer but I want to stay in Arizona this 1st Summer to get used to Full Timing before going into the Rocky Mountains. I have a 2009 F-150 and it struggles pulling my fully loaded Cargo Trailer Camper in steep inclines.😕
Nothing like relaxing next to a stream letting the mind wander.
Good to hear from you Brian! Was getting concerned. Beautiful areas thanks fir sharing! Be safe my friends I've yet to meet 😎 ✌️
Thank you my friend🤙🏼
Glad to have you back, great video..

Thanks, I could run the crockpot for about 6 days straight with no sun with my current setup.
Crockpot all the way for me also Brian 👍🌞
That was incredible, Brian! Took it up a few notches!
Glad your back Brian, always love your videos. Once again, you just sniff out perfect campsites like a bloodhound sniffing out an escaped convict. I’m marking that campsites for future reference. You also have me craving beef stew. Dammit!

So glad you three have been relaxing in such beautiful places. Portal area 👍👍👍 Take care and travel safe🙏.
For a second there I didn’t think you were going to say it… but then you did!!! “Goodbye Arizona, Hello New Mexico”. You should trademark that slogan.
Brian I had to pause your amazing video and comment. That bike ride and drone shot through that campground was STELLAR !! Great job capturing the beauty of the wonderful west. Well done my friend. Well done.

Great video. Reminds me of Davis Mountains in West Texas near Alpine, Texas.

Hey Brian! When I make stew, I dredge the meat in flour and seasonings, then brown. It helps with thickening up the sauce. Love your videos.❤
15:30 - 16:26 wow, breathtaking views! Did you get a new camera?

It always seems to work really well for Brian, done this way and it's how I've always done mine.
A real treat seeing your footage of portal, cave creek. We live on east coast and stumbled on area a few years ago. Great birding and hiking.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, those mountain ranges were beautiful, awesome video, your filming and editing is excellent, thanks for sharing....

Nice to see you again. Beautiful part of AZ.
My backyard. ❤ I’m a few hours away. Cave Creek is awesome. You need to go higher up the canyon and find the non forest campgrounds that charge. That road will go over the top the mountain and down the west side as well to the monument. Good to see you back Brian.
There was a lot of snow, but pretty.
very nice ! this is much better than usual.
Wow, that's a gorgeous area! 👍🇨🇦😎🍔
Nice camping in the forest. Prices ain’t bad. Boondocking is the way to go 😊.
Was that a Billy Breathes sticker?❤🙃
Fun ride. I hope to meet up with you next year and ride.
Drone footage popped up like you were on the moon! Surreal 💞. That hail must of hurt!
I’m headed west next month. I want to stay in Arizona for the summer and was asking if it stays cool enough up in the mountains to not be uncomfortable? if you stay above 7,000ft you shouldn't see temps over 90 to often.🤙🏼
Beautiful! Come to Colorado!
Nice video! I'm curious - how much power does the small Crock use? (looking at getting one) Thanks!
100watts
Are you close to hatch to get some chilis?
Thank you for the video
Wow nice video your good at what you do 👍
