I can't believe so many people are complaining about the tempo. It's live music! Your adrenaline starts pumping and you play a bit faster. It's very common.
Aaron Stark exactly! ccr especially would sometimes play their times twice as fast live. most bands were also fueled by cocaine and amphetamines so that can contribute too.
In an interview Darcy stated that the band often put little weights on their fingers for rehearsals to slow their hands down. For the show they would remove the weights and their hands would move much faster now, speeding up the songs.
Siamese Dream album is just absolutely timeless. One of those very rare records you can play front to back and always come back for more. Just ridiculous!!!
I know a lot of people are going to criticise for going too fast and there is some merit to that but in my experience when you're actually there witnessing it in person you don't notice it as much. it just kind of rocks.
KingGeorge24 I love when this happens in person because it just means the band and the crowd are feeding off the same adrenaline rush. I’ve experienced both sides and don’t know until seeing/hearing playback later haha
I've been to concerts where the band plays exactly like their studio album, maybe they were faking it in concert, and that's boring because I could have just stayed home and listened on the stereo instead.
god damn, what an incredible performance. best performance of Cherub i have seen or heard. Jimmy's improvised fills in some parts are flawless and just fit naturally. such an incredible drummer, top 10 in the world, even to this day.
One of their most powerful and original Guitar intro of the 90s..A fantastic debut Song in an awesome album as Siamese Dreams has been.. Incredible live show with the outstanding dark charisma of Billy Corgan...Wow this was Music
@@amboogarlard.1083 Jimmy Chamberlain is one of the tightest drummers in modern drumming. I have never heard anyone talk down to his ability to do the main job of a drummer in a band.
@@bigsky3072 i also grew up in the 70s, but my take on the 90s is not that it was the best decade for music, but the last great one. i've put 60s, 70s 80s and 90s "best of" collections together, and i came up with one 60s, three 70s, six 80s and only three 90s discs of roughly sixteen songs per. IMHO, 1980-1985 (my take is that music started declining badly in 1986) has so much amazing stuff, with the new wave, pop rock and "metal", that it easily surpasses the 90s. as an aside, i also took a lot of incomplete studio greatest hits collections of various artists from the 60s, 70s, 80s and made them whole.
Billy's guitar solo still makes the hair on my arms stand up to this day. Only one other guitarist does that, but nonetheless it's a moment of euphoria that just stops time for me. A band that was ahead of their time and gone too soon. I'll take the Pumpkins over bands like FFDP or Disturbed any day.
Theres a guitarist who i saw live in 1978 when i was 18. He is Adrian Belew and David Bowie wanted the world to hear what he could do, so he stole him from Frank Zappa and he became lead guitarist for Bowie on the 1978 Heroes/Isolar World Tour. Adrian since went on to blow minds worldwide as guitar for Talking Heads in 1980 and then joined King Crimson. Adrians 5min intro to Station To Station live in 78 blew me away lights out. Billy's love for Bowie is widely known and they played together once i know of. Billy's Fender Strat howls, screams and groans just like Adrian's Strat and Billy would of been inspired by Adrian to produce that pyrotechnic sound. The Cherub Rock solo is like its in its own universe, its that great. Adrian has since gone on to play with so many artists. He is a legend and theres nobody other than he and Billy who can produce that sound. They were both playing really old beat up same models, its amazing.
Jimmy is like some perfectly tuned machine. Unbelievable. I always loved this song but when I finally understood the lyrics and their meaning it's ten times as powerful.
Extra mad kudos to the sound-mixer on this performance!: the guitar, bass, drums and Corgan's vocals are in perfect balance -- although it'd be nice to hear James and Darcy's vocals more clearly, but that's only a minor criticism

Yep. I remember when I used to play in bands (eons ago) and our live versions were always about a minute faster than practice (or recordings).
not when it ruins the essence of the tune.

Jimmy Chamberlain, WHAT A DRUMMER! Incredible.
Concordo!
He made Siamese Dream so very special. most dynamic and vivid drumplay ever. Love it
...agreed Jimmy is a great drummer, in my top 3 with Bonham & Peart, with Tommy Aldridge at 4!!
That's my exact list as well. Nice. Jimmy was easily the best drummer of the 90's
Yes, He is!!!!
First song ever heard from SP, after 10 secs I knew we were meant for life.
Me too, instantly hooked.
Same
i feel that after mayonaise
