yeah its definitely a great technical performance, if not the best thats recorded, but i prefer the later 94 and lollapalooza versions of this song. yeah its way too fast and pretty sloppy but it really brings out the character of the sng for a live performance and really bites. the one on the “lost tapes”, which was somehow linked to vieuphoria, is really good.
I helped put this song / video together for SP. It was completely amazing being in the room for all of this. The venue, the clowns, the fans, the chaos. Lightning in a bottle.
This song got me the drummer part in my old band called odd man out!!! I was very nervous going in on the audition , and they gave me a list of covers they play, and I chose this song cuz I knew I could play it well it it has a certain level of difficulty compared to other songs on the list, and it did the trick, we played this through in 1 take and when we finished they welcomed me as their new drummer, what a great ride that was ...I miss those days
I was at this show at Club OZ, Seattle. October 15th, 1993. They told us that they were filming the video for Geek USA. Super small venue maybe 250-300 ppl in a club that was actually a disco/dance club!
Yeah I remember they were touring with The Frogs at the time. They played in Portland, OR at La Luna a couple nights before the Seattle show. It was the best concert ever, and nothing comes close to the ‘93-‘94 tours! I’ve always liked smaller venues, I’m not a fan of “Stadium Rock”.
This video is the greatest thing on this site. Fucking clowns, Darcy looking EXCEPTIONALLY hot, and everybody is playing one of SP's best songs spot on, not to mention the little pop ups that are telling me to basically blow out my speakers.
@2:36 is always my favorite part of the song. It's just so mello and euphoric and then ramps up crazy. I always look forward to hearing that part of the song.
Best version ever! The clown taking a drag of the smoke at the beginning LOL…the organized chaos in this performance is so befitting of the pumpkins. Their sound and energy going absolutely ape shit, while they themselves are nearly standstill and calm
Beat thing I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you so much for this upload. By the time he said “they say you are the company you keep” I was already dying laughing. Made my day.
I remember this from the music video DVD! I was in high school when it came out, I remember showing this to friends who were really into ICP at the time telling them, "Look! This is so much better, and you still have your clowns!"
I still have the dvd…bought it new when it first released! Can’t recall what the last music video is on the top of my head but might be stand inside your love. Absolutely awesome dvd.
@bebopalulahola Yes, it was released on the Greatest Hits DVD one of two live clips included on the DVD. The other was "An Ode to No One" live at the Metro.
So..the pedagogic clown speech-guy in the beginning with James Iha..is Jimmy, and the very tall guy telling them to lets go (Billy?)..played by some dudes from SNL? Sick song from one of the best album of the early 90´s. Gnarly solos! Where is this recorded?
Even with all the chaos on stage, this is most technically sound and complete live perf. of Geek I've ever heard.

"Now fire is funny, but a flaming clown? That's not funny." I agree, a flaming clown is not funny. It's ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS.
"Alright people let's have a good day today" lmao
It's funny for about 20 seconds, then the funniness rapidly deteriorates.
james iha be talkin
Like a little boss no less.
@@MichaelD8393 Goated with the sauce
it's true
DANKE
Ngl he do be talkin fr fr
I've been a Pumpkins fan for 22 years and still think this is one of the best things they ever did
34 for me but yes you are correct.
I helped put this song / video together for SP. It was completely amazing being in the room for all of this. The venue, the clowns, the fans, the chaos. Lightning in a bottle.
How did you guys even film this with such chaos lmao
You should get in touch with all the clowns (and the band) and have them write up what they recall.
Thank you! You did a tremendous job. I only wish I could have been there, in person, to have enjoyed it.
I was one of the clowns
no, you didn't
this is like the fiercest fucking pumpkins performance EVER. (with clowns.)
This is easily the funniest live performance of all time
I always felt James Iha was the clinch pin in the band. The heaviest of his guitar sound matched Billy's lead and vocals superbly.
Lynch pin, I think you mean. And absolutely. I agree entirely. He held Corgan in place, brought him back when he drifted. James was always centred.
i don’t know what the fuck i just watched but that was fucking sick
Jimmy like:
Shit I was so strung out that night i thought there were all these clowns on the stage...

This looks like the most fun thing that ever happened

This just bleeds 90's.
I feel sorry for people born after the year 2000.
@@clownnookie I’m 21 and all my favorite music is in the 90s! Rip. At least the internet makes all the tunes easily accessible
@@jakebulette6485 It's a fun decade to explore.
@@clownnookie You say that as if mid or late 90s borns even remember the decade lol

Too have seen them in this small of a venue when this album came out...
+Bryan Wagner Yeah fuk man that would have been something!
@2:36 is always my favorite part of the song. It's just so mello and euphoric and then ramps up crazy. I always look forward to hearing that part of the song.
same
Agree
His was the era of Pumpkins I discovered them, shit the world was great back then! Music was real!! Young and free too! Ha.
I would give anything to have been at this concert! Truly, a once in a lifetime event.
Kind of sad how I always see several comments making fun of Jimmy’s drug problem instead of making comments about how insanely good he is at drumming.
Meanwhile Darcy is stoned out of her mind onstage
I love the “I love mom” guitar ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saw that...LuvYa Mom!
my favourite youtube video of all time
WTF seeing James Iha talk like that is both hilarious and scary at the same time haha
Darcy was so gorgeous!
+gullivera she was the heart

Billy used that guitar when they played Mayonaise at the record release show at the Chicago Metro!
...And also he used it on MCIS sessions, to circa late 1995-early 1996 Billy decided painted it blue.
This was, and might still be, his main Eb guitar. Used for Geek, Mayo, a lot of MCIS.
No sabía que era lo que necesitaba para ser feliz hasta que vi a Smashing Pumpkins con payasos 🙏
ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER.I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE SABBATH INFLUENCE ON THIS GREAT ERA OF ROCK.HOW I MISS THE 90'S😥
Best version ever! The clown taking a drag of the smoke at the beginning LOL…the organized chaos in this performance is so befitting of the pumpkins. Their sound and energy going absolutely ape shit, while they themselves are nearly standstill and calm
"I love my mom".
bring back memories seeing all my exe's on stage.
I feel like James Iha could have his own show
Smashing Pumpkins - Geek USA Live (feat. Slipknot)
😂😂😂
3:04 Hahahaha Love this performance

LOL you still
Have your clowns
5:43 Billy did NOT want a clown grabbing his arm.
He had to hit the last note on time, it may not be because he didn't want the clown touching him.
Clown theme, D’arcy, Billy with hair… this really has it all!
I like how billy pulled his arm at the end.. shit makes me laugh😂😂😂😂
I disagree, a flaming clown would be VERY funny. Also, D'arcy = Yum
I had this on DVD years back. Also had ode to nobody live.
Me too! It was on repeat all the time… when I didn’t have “Fear and loathing in Las Vegas “ on
I still have the dvd…bought it new when it first released! Can’t recall what the last music video is on the top of my head but might be stand inside your love. Absolutely awesome dvd.
Favorite Smashing Pumpkins song!!!
Think we'll ever get a scene like this in a million years lk wtf where did time go🤬🤬🤬
Early slipknot gig?
Slipknot wishes they were on the same level as peak Pumpkins.

Legendary.
Best music video ever.
I'm terrified of clowns but I love the pumpkins enough to bear this video
this is amongst the heaviest things I have ever seen

So hilariously great

Is it true this show was really loud? like REALLY loud?
yes
just this song, clowns amplify sound. true fact.
yeah it was in a club too and those amps were cranked up really loud
I love SP and am quite afraid of clowns. Which pretty much GUARANTEES a dream/nightmare about this tonight…
Glad to know when my scratched to fuck DVD doesn't work, youtube exists.
So good
WHOLE CONCERT PLEASE🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is rad!
More clown please. I love 'em, wish they were in every video, but leave it to Billy to actually have the balls to bring a bunch of clowns onstage.
My yellow clown tour shirt is 30 years old now. Still have it looking new but wish I had the blue one.
3:29 that clows shot is awesome

The 90s ruled
love how james can't get a word in
This was October 15, 1993 at the Oz Club in Seattle. Night one of a two-night stand. I saw both shows. No clowns at the second show.
So..the pedagogic clown speech-guy in the beginning with James Iha..is Jimmy, and the very tall guy telling them to lets go (Billy?)..played by some dudes from SNL? Sick song from one of the best album of the early 90´s. Gnarly solos! Where is this recorded?
This is proof that music today doesn't even begin to hold a candle to the 90s
dam this song kicks ass i like Billys shirt
The clown in red is having the most fun
For sure.
"RAWR"
Best performance eu
D'arcy don't giving a f*ck with all that's happening is amazing
