First of all..2 ring piston dosnt necessarily give u more compression..it however gives the engine longer compression life..and has it occurred to anyone that during all his testing he actually broke the engine in to where the piston rings are seated against the cylinder wall and that's why it's running properly? My 36cc did same thing after I got a few tanks of fuel in it..she came alive
umm ... no. It is not possible that an engine can just "break in" in a sudden split second. Rovans 36cc motors have nearly a 2mm squish, its a design flaw, there are many videos and forum talk about the matter. ... not only can you remove the gasket, you can also shave the case to close the squish even more. If anyone has a 36cc Rovan motor and does not remove the gasket at a bare minimum ... your engine will never make good power ... "Like it should"
Yes. Motor wont be horrible. Here is my easy, cheap recommendation. Dont use the 1191 Carb from Rovan. Use the Walbro 668/997. Then take off the head and remove the gasket. Also take some 500 sand paper and go over all the sharp edges of the ports. In, out and transfer. All the places where the piston can get scratched, but DO NOT scratch the sleeve itself. put togethe and you should have a good strong reliable motor.
so whats your 2cents on the carb that it came with ? can it be used after dropping the head ? glad i found your channel i am about to get the 36cc myself
So here's the deal with the 1191 carb from Rovan... DON'T Get It! From the 10x we have received only 4x worked properly. Best performance carb we've received is the 813/998 carb from Rovan or the reliable 668 Japan. All our motors will come with the 668 from now on.
Hey Mr Ez Trade Racer ... got a ? for you ... do you happen to know if Rovans 32cc motor is the same as the Zenoah G320 ? As in its a clone? And parts can be swapped from each other? Reason I ask is ... I have a OBR 32 V2 Reed Case (bare bottom end) and want to know if the Rovan 32cc crank, piston, and top end will bolt on / in?
Good Day Charlie. Thank you for the question. Yes they are the same. We use their parts interchangeably. There are snag points here and there like sometimes the cylinder struggles to fit the case perfect but a quick trip with the Dremel sorts it, without performance loss.

Haven't really come across this problem. Was anything else dismantled or taken off other than the exhaust? I have a 30cc engine with one ring in my buggy. Will this 36cc Two rings be a lot stronger than my 30cc?
Yes that is it. BUT we believe it was also the Carb. The 1107 we've been getting from US & China had a bad batch. The 668/997 we stuck on here did make a visible difference. But for the most part this engine has way too much space ontop of the piston out the box.
