      You can absolutely air layer that plant and it should definitely help. I personally don't bother with my Brandtianum just because I've never had any issues with propagations failing from not air layering 💚

      Thank you so much. I know right, it's soooo beautiful. I wasn't planning on chopping that plant, but the rest of it had very low variegation and I really wanted to try and preserve and contain that section 💚

    Yay, you got my question (the first one with the ernestii). I bought it because of you actually but I could find only a juvenile one locally. The thing is the newest leaves are actually smaller than the older ones so I will definitely need to chop it back. ❤️

      Woooohooooo! They're gorgeous plants that seem to be so underrated for some reason, so I'm glad you managed to track one down. As I say they're incredibly fast growing so fingers crossed yours will be lovely and big in no time 💚

    Great video, thanks Claire! I had success with a piper sylvaticum in water. It's the only piper I have so not much experience. It didn't travel well and arrived with rotten roots which dropped off. It took a few weeks to start rooting (over winter) and I lost a leaf, but now there are loads of roots and a new leaf is just starting, so it seems to be doing well. Humidity in my flat is pretty high which probably helped.

      Oooh that's interesting - I've actually been thinking about propping my Rhipsalis Baccifera but haven't been sure what to use... perhaps I'll give soil a go for that! 💚

    • @erinroche2893
      @erinroche2893 2 года назад

      @@TheJungleHaven my rhipsalis pentaptera takes to it like a dream and without any special conditions to encourage it. However in saying that I live in far north Queensland in Australia and my climate standard here is subtropical even throughout 'winter' hahaha. I still think you would right though. I love rhipsalis so much. They are my favourite dependable fuss free plant when others are causing me angst lol.

      What are your thoughts about soil propagation using rooting powder? I have also heard dipping cuttings into vitamin C before putting them into soil. This especially so for geranium cuttings.

    Love the video Claire. Just fyi for the N'Joy, those bumps are aerial roots, not the nodes / aux buds. The internodes are also just stem between nodes and aren't bumps or a particularly identifiable structure, but we know what you mean :)

      Hiya, so for dried moss I usually buy from sphagnum.co.uk but actually in this video I couldn't get hold of any so just got some cheapy terrarium moss from Amazon. Live sphagnum moss (that you don't need to hydrate) is also fantastic - Soil Ninja's is brilliant! 💚

    at 12:37 is there another growth point below the one you pointed at?

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 года назад +1

      Yes so there's a few auxiliary buds further down the plant, none of which seem to have done much yet, but fingers crossed they might become new branches to the plant at some point soon (I've known them sit dormant for years though) 💚

    OMG I thought you had dropped the jar! How odd for the base to fall off like that. I have used soil for leaf propagation in a prop box and they've been working pretty well. I have some in perlite and perlite with vermiculite. I almost killed a peperomia so that is now in perlite with cinnamon, put under growlight. I'm waiting on my hydrogen peroxide to rescue it properly I hope.

    Can you reuse spagnum moss?

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 года назад +1

      Technically you're not supposed to because of cross contamination, but if the moss is still in good condition and the plant before it hasn't had any bacteria/fungal/pest issues I do reuse it 💚

    When you propagate in water, how often do you change it?

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 года назад

      I personally only change it when it doesn't look as clear and fresh anymore. I also tend to do half water changes for young props to try and keep their environment as stable as possible 💚

    • @Layeredworld
      @Layeredworld 2 года назад

      Hiya l love your channel. I have heard from the RUclips channel; Swedish Plant Guys you should change the water every day because the roots need oxygen. In the case of water propagation, the roots get the oxygen from the water.

    • @beka1344
