    I have just bought that exact wire mesh in B&Q. It was like 5m (i think) x like 75cm, 1cm squares, green coated and I think it was about £11. It was in the outdoor gardening area.

  • @sunflowerhillhomesteadaust7887

    Interesting, I don't think there's one perfect moss pole. I started using the wire mesh as I already had some, and its great for holding its shape and holding the moss in. But I feel that for bigger roots I could end up breaking / damaging them trying to get them out of 1cm wire holes when I want to use the moss pole to prop.
    And for me, I have a small farm which I work on on my own as I'm a single mum (Australia, so it all gets pretty hardcore with heat and snakes etc), so my hands are so damaged by using wire for fencing etc all the time, that I just don't want to handle the stupid stuff inside as well lol!
    So I really like a 2cm soft plastic mesh made for gardens, I'm happier putting a thin pole in there to support it and not have to deal with wire lol. I don't find the moss falls out, when its packed in either, it works really well. And I think it will be much more forgiving and gentle for propagating.
    I'm way too tired and time poor to spray down the poles before watering too haha, I find that just upending the bottle in the top of the pole and allowing it to drip in by itself hydrates the whole pole beautifully over an hour or 2 without any need for spraying :)

    Hi Claire found you on Monday, subscribed and have been binge watching. The moss you are using from B&Q I bought two bags last year and wasn't sure it was ok to use for indoor plants. Seeing you using it has given me confidence. Goodbye expensive dry moss and hello to B&Q and Homebase. 💛🌵Thank you. ps Thought Emma's accent was a mixture of British, Aussie, American or summit. Get the coated mess from B&Q 1.2cm, product code 3663602731283, (L) 5m (H) 0.5m, price £10.30. Last year was £11.96 not including posting. Hope this is helpful.

    Hey guys, enjoying watching the both of you again as always. My question is to whoever owns the hole punch, where can I get one of those? It takes me so long to make a pole because I have to stab the holes in with a pair of scissors, twisting them around and around until the hole is big enough. That hole punch would make the job so much easier

    • @mr.detley8723
      @mr.detley8723 Год назад +1

      The mosspole not only functions as a climbing aid, but also as an extension of the pot. Roots grow from every leaf node into the moss. The plant can develop a much larger root system, resulting in better growth and larger leaves.🌱

    This is so unrelated to the video, but I'm stressing!! I've had a senecio cepholorus(?) from ikea for over a year.... Was doing well... Tied up the "branches" to make it it less wide... Anyway... They flowered in late September /early october... But last 2 months... Leaves have drooped, some have come away..... I've used a moisture meter for MONTHS (thank you for the tip)... But all of sudden, soil is constantly moist now (been bottom watering since summer)..... ANYWAY.... healthly stalks but barely any leaves left...repot, propogate?? HELP!!! X

      I know i need to take it out of its pot to check roots... Also little fungus gnats have started to swarm.... Chopped the top of one stalk that was mushy.... It's currently in isolation with a bag over it's head!! Just don't wanna lose the whole plant.... I'm new to this whole thing!! 🙄🙄😭😭
