Maybe if you’re a prince and have lots of dough. For me i will work my whole life set aside a few bucks to be able to afford my dream watch. Zenith El Primero.
IndeedBeni GS are beautiful to look at, too bad mine was the least reliable watch I’ve ever owned. I had the spring drive for two years, it went to Japan twice and stayed there for over two months each time. The second time was around the two year mark and GS told me they will service the watch this last time for free but this watch requires an $880 service every two years and that’s why it was running fast. I own an aquanaut, Submariner, nomos, seamaster and A. Lange and none of those watches have required over a $600 service and they all were around 5-7 year service intervals. They all also came back from the manufacturer looking like new again, GS I was lucky it came back working the way it should, no polishing nothing. Needless to say that watch landed at my AD from Japan and was promptly traded in. Never again a spring drive GS for me.
@@Peter-tc3ep man that sucks to hear, I’ve heard stories of the spring drive being very reliable, I have one so I’m hoping yours was a one off bad watch

I’ve searched high & low on the price scale as well as complications only to find my ‘perfect’ watch is the JLC Geoohysic 1958 limited edition.. It checks all the boxes for me and just makes me smile every time I wear it!
I was torn between a Grand Seiko or a Cartier Santos; I went with the Santos - even though the Grand Seiko looked amazing and had everything I love. Cartier won me over with the option to have both a Steel bracelet and a Strap; with the ease of use strap change technology.
Wow, Omega should have not allowed that moronic graphic art on the display back, at least they didn't use stupid screws to hold it on. I love the watch otherwise and the Seiko GS GMT too, at least that's not a spring-drive, I hate those.
@@tomasinacovell4293 Agreed on the Omega display part, if only they would do it manual, closed caseback and by that cutting at least 3mm of thickness.... wow

Funny, cause I am exactly at that stage resisting stubbornly buying a speedy. I do love it but can’t bring myself to owning something so popular. On the other hand it is so popular for a reason. For many reasons actually... :-)
It took me almost a year and upwards of 50 views (thanks to that GS being my grail watch) to actually figure out that Omega logo is etched (or maybe laser engraved?) bang in the middle of the crystal. Such a nice detail that is!

That Omega 🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀 I’ve had a look at the sub seconds one. I would never get bored at looking at it or owning it. That makes it the perfect watch👍🏼
Amazing video showcasing all these watches. One of my favorite ones so far. Absolutely love GS more so now and would love to add that to my collection.
I think the perfect one for me would be the Citizen Chronomaster CTQ57-0955. Yes, a Citizen. But it's everything I'm after (design, movement and finishing-wise) and no one else offers anything like it. Now, it's far from the norm having an H.A.Q. as a grail. It also limits the competition to very little. If I however were to find the perfect automatic, there would indeed be too much to choose from ;)
Fantastic video as always! You guys must have read my mind because I have been on the hunt for a dress watch for a solid year and these are the three brands at the top of my list. I completely agree that Omega made a fantastic watch until you flipped it around. I cannot stand that they have no restraint with unnecessary crap like the clip art boat and airplane on the back. I think I'm down to JLC and Grand Seiko and I don't think there is a wrong answer. In your video I'd give the slight nod to JLC only after you showed the wrist shots at the end.
Macht, you are absolutely correct. I bought my first GS a month ago, a limited Edition Blizzard dial GMT. I own 5 other very high end (3 Rolex, AP Royal Oak (stunning) and the new blue dial moonphase Longines (I had no real budget limitations and yet chose the Longines because the blue dial is far more beautiful than a JLC or the Glashutte Original). I love all of my watches, but my goodness, the Grand Seiko is an entirely different story. It is by far not only my most beautiful watch, but the Spring Drive movement is mesmerizing. I won't bore you but look it up. Can tell you no other watch maker (not Patek, not Vacheron, not Rolex) could copy it. It took nearly 2 decades for GS to create and perfect it. Oh, and it's accurate to minimum of 15 secs per month. Wanted to share this with you. One side note: I get more unsolicited comments from people on this watch saying how stunning it is. Sadly, I never, ever get that with my new Rolex Sky Dweller (now as hard to get as the Ceramic Daytona Panda). Oh well!
This is a fantastic video, I actually own an original 1953 Omega Seamaster of exactly the same style as the first watch, I've agonised over that Grand Seiko and I'm currently umming and ahhing over a Jaeger Lecoultre (albeit a Reverso) - you hit the nail on the head for me.
Damn... I honestly dont know which i would pick... I love the simple nature of the Omega and its chunky case. I love the complex elegant look of the JLC and the Grand Seiko ... its just so good looking...
Exceptional narration of some very desirable watches. Thank you!!! Although I love Omega, the JLC effortlessly found it's way in my list of watches to have. After watching your first video, I've watched all your videos right from the beginning and it's been a delight to see how each video has just gotten better. Hope to see many many more... On another note, I've been looking to buy a watch for the ladies of the house but can't seem to find real inspiration. Maybe do a video on that sometime soon?
Good video. There are a lot of watches that I admire, but don't seriously desire. For me, enjoying a watch means wearing the watch and if I'm wearing a watch, I don't want to have to baby it. I won't abuse it, but if I bump against a door frame or whatever, I don't want to be concerned that I gouged it. Likewise, if it gets wet, I don't want to be worried about that either. I have a nice old (40 years old) quartz Seiko dive watch that serves that purpose well and am saving for a Sinn U2-S. For me, that is sort of my perfect watch. A GMT watch with a dive time bezel (no need for a chronograph), basically as scratch proof as it can get and still be steel, and water resistant to a depth that would turn a Submariner into a pancake (not that I will ever test that). It's not a dress watch, can't even pretend to be a dress watch, and that's great because I never have cause to wear a dress watch. It certainly wouldn't be a lot of people's perfect watch simply because of the size. I have very large wrists so no issue there. I like what you said about Grand Seiko. They are finished to perfection, but it's kind of a sterile perfection and there's a certain 'sameness' about many of the models.
Agree with the comments about The Grand Seiko. What a treat - perhaps it's a reflection of how accustomed we are to Omega and complicated watches that when GS drop that in our laps, we are impressed. Doing simple things very, very well is a lot safer than 'creeping excellence'. Just ask a Ferrari driver when they're holding everyone up trying to drive off a cross-channel ferry...
