Miroku President G13 (Extremely Rare) - Eastfield Gunroom Review

- In the first of many exciting Eastfield Gunroom reviews shotgun expert Matthew Morgan reviews a Miroku that by his own admission he has never seen or handled before....until now
Having prized the gun out of the hands of a Miroku collector, Matthew talks us through what makes this 1970's President so very special and extremely rare. A gun that most shooters will never see and one that few will ever be lucky enough to own. For Miroku fans this is the pinnacle of special.
Back in the 1970's, Bloomfield Gunmakers in Radlett, Herts were the largest dealers for Miroku in the country with Brian Bloomfield himself visiting the Miroku factory back in the day. They used to have drawers full of spare barrels etc. for these guns. The link here to the present is Ladbrook & Langton for Bob Ladbrook, along with my father, worked at Bloomfield Gunmakers back in the day and their company grew out of there and they (and us) are still going strong today!
Thanks Stephen for your comment. Interesting information. I know that you are a fan of the classic guns as I am. Kind regards, Matthew
Great to see you back Matt, huge fan of Miroku and your reviews certainly do them justice. Probably the most underrated makers out there. I think the engraving on the underside of the forend is a chrysanthemum flower which is highly regarded in Japanese culture. Thanks again for sharing. All the best from Scotland 🏴 GD
Thank you for your comment and kind words. It's good to be back. More stunning Mirokus coming so stay tuned and thank you for the info about the flower thing on the forend😊. Kind regards, Matthew

Hey Matt, nice to see you back on the tube again, i noticed you hadn't been on the PG channel for a while, anyway i've subscribed to Eastfield Gunroom so looking forward to seeing more of your presentations. This is such a direct, concise and in depth review of a beautiful gun. I started my competition clay shooting in the mid 70's with a Miroku, (600 ORE/800W) and i have to admit i've never seen any Miroku like that one before.👍
Thank you for your comment and kind words. If you like special Mirokus then you are in for a treat. Stay tuned. Kind regards, Matthew
Country Way guns based in Kent did a couple of reviews on the President G12 about 4 years ago. The owner showed me the gun when I was in the shop. Good to see you back, I was wondering what happened to you.
Thank you for your comment. Yes I saw the review on the G12 that Tim Bridge did (Tim is also an avid Miroku fan). Stay tuned for some very exciting stuff. Good to be back. Kind regards, Matt

Nice to see you back Matt, best reviews by a country mile. How could a price be put on such a rare gun as there are so few Existing .
Looking forward to your future reviews.👍
Thank you for your comment and kind words. Yes a very special gun indeed which I agree is difficult to value. Hope you enjoy the channel. Kind regards, Matthew

Hi, I remember I went to York guns with a friend of mine and he brought a miroku the same as this one back in the early 2000s I think. It was 30'' fixed choke he had it Teague extended chokes had it many years. It was then sold that is all I can remember as he passed away not long after. It was un used when he got it.
Thank you for your comment. This particular gun was actually supplied by York Guns too but not quite sure when. Kind regards, Matthew
Great review. I have seen Presidents for sale in Oz, recently a new block stocked President was offered, Oz has been a good market for Miroku since the 1960's when Fuller Firearms
started importing them, some models are unique to OZ ie MK10 which is similar to MK38, the upgraded stock design was after input from Oz shooters.
FYI, Miroku have a strangle hold on the o/u target gun sporting market in Oz, a lot of the Italian guns you have reviewed are never seen here.
Lastly, the latest OSA(importer) Miroku catalogue on the last page adverise the G12/13. Personally I don't like the Japanese engraving but they offer English style too.
Thank you for your comment. I did see that a new G13 with a headed blank can be purchased over there. I wonder what it costs though. I am also looking at bringing some Aus spec Mirokus into the UK. Glad you enjoyed the video. Kind regards, Matthew
Great review Mat.
Thank you for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Kind regards, Matthew
@@eastfieldgunroom Very informative, all ways had a soft spot for Miroku's over Brownings.
Nice review and glad you mentioned the weight - to me at least it is important and the only thing that I can’t know unless it’s mentioned.
Thank you for your comment. First video but I will endeavour to always mention the weight and also discuss the balance. As you say these are important factors. Kind regards, Matthew
Ive got one of them, got it from Sportarm at ladyswood its as new as well, lovely gun
Thank you for your comment. You are very lucky if you have a G13. They are incredibly rare. Please could you email me some pictures of the gun to matt@eastfield.group. kind regards, Matthew
Thx for the detailed review Matt. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information around about some of the more unusual Miroku guns. I particularly like the way you put the gun in context with its intended use and the discussion about it how was modernised. Fascinating stuff. Can I suggest another potential candidate for similar treatment, the Miroku Model FEII SLE? This is Miroku's own version of the BSS Sidelock that they made for Browning. There was a review of this model by Gough Thomas (in "The Field") that I have not been able to locate. I own one of these but I have not been able to find much info about it. Mine is colour case hardened but I have seen coin finished versions as well as some with hand detachable locks advertised for sale. It aso features chopper lump barrels. I think this model would be a worthy subject of a review. Thx again. Geoff
Thank you for your kind words and I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. You are correct about there being little information on some of these guns but I think the reason for that is that they were only produced in small numbers and that different countries had different specification models.More rare Mirokus to come on the channel so stay tuned. Kind regards, Matthew
Hi Matt great to see you back on RUclips. Now your up and running with your new business can you get hold of the Beretta 694 skeet gun and do an in depth review with it please..
Mine had to go back to GMK with a slight problem, but I have it back now.
Best Regards
Richard….😊
Thank you for your comment and kind words Richard. To be fair it is unlikely I will be doing a 694 Skeet video but you never know. Hope you are well. Kind regards, Matthew
It’s a beautiful shotgun action looks amazing not to sure the wood is that special to me great video 😊
Thank you for your comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I understand what you are saying about the wood but it is high quality French Walnut. The wood is going to receive a best London oil finish in the coming weeks. Then it will enhance all the grain and colour and look superb. Kind regards, Matthew
Hi Matt, I recently inherited an old over & under B.C. Mirouku 28 Gauge 2 3/4". It does not have a model number that I can find. Any idea how I can find out more information on it?
Thank you for your comment. Please contact me at matt@eastfield.group and I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Matthew
That is a loverly gun Matt. must be worth a lot!
Thank you for your comment Roger. Worth a bit yes. Are you treating yourself? Kind regards, Matthew
Into K80's, I have just got a K32 1979 like new teagued had it reprofed they was no bore size on it & service might sell it.Hope you are well Rogie. 👍🏻👍🏻
Miroku makes one of the best shotguns on earth as well as the SKB also.
Thank you for your comment. Both great gunmakers. Hope you enjoy the channel. Kind regards, Matthew
Do you sell muller chokes ?☺☺
Matt hi, eddie from rocester I know someone with president doesn’t look like 13 tho when he brought it dirt cheap by the way it was covered in like a Vaseline type lubricant in a box with brown paper wrapped round it. Barrels not bored ?
Thank you for your comment Eddie. I believe that I know the gun you are referring to. It was a G11 President if I am correct. Does he still have the gun do you know? Kind regards, Matthew
Yes he still has it if memory serves when he brought it the wood had no oil finish on it looked yellow but coming on abit now he uses it not well because doesn’t fit him and obviously barrels not bored but hits things way out of normal range. Curiosity wise what sort of price would you value the gun I know he got it for peanuts
Hi Eddie. Please drop me an email to matt@eastfield.group and I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Matthew
I have had the pleasure of handling one ,it belonged to Lloyd Evans ,Eastcote Towcester, I sold it to Gerry White ,in the 1990s ,not sure if he still owns it
Thank you for your comment. Was the gun a 28" version? I know Gerry so will contact him to see what happened to it. Kind regards, Matthew
Where is your gunshop, Matt?
Hi Martin....15 minutes from you! Drop me an email matt@eastfield.group
Happy days,
Beautiful gun that’s the one I want 😢
Thank you for your comment. Please get in touch for further details. Kind regards, Matthew
Would it be possible for you to comment about the Browning/Miroku Citori "Type 2" which were made in the late 1970s and early 1980 years, before the Citori became produced by Miroku with more machine technology. These Grade 3 and Grade 5 were imitations of the Superposé, with notable changes, but in the attempt to prove that Moruku could do as well as Fabrique Nationale in the field of craftsmanship. Nick Hahn in «The Browning Citori», The Double Gun Journal, Autumn 2008, p. 107-18. says the following: «In short, the Type II Citori was very similar to the Belgian Superposed both externally and internally. At about the same time [1977] Browning announced the higher grades, the Grade II and Grade V, the Grade II had line engraved game scenes while Grade V had semi-relief game scene completely covering the entire action body. This engraving pattern was done very similarily to the Diana Grade engraving on the Superposed. There was no Grade III or IV. Of the high-grade Citoris, including the current Grade VII with gold inlays, many consider the old Grade V with its deep cut hand engraving to be the most desirable of all Citoris.» The same article praises even more the 'Type 3', which came after the Type 2, and which had a very short life because of labor costs. Are these assessments justified?
Thank you for your comment. I will look into this and see what I can find out. Kind regards, Matthew
we need to see mk11 review
Thank you for your comment. MK11 is on the 'to do' list so stay tuned to the channel. Kind regards, Matthew

Thank you for your comment. More quality shotguns to come so sit back and get that popcorn out! Kind regards, Matthew
Strange barrels 30 inch , Noticed but with " skeet choke markings " on barrel flats and the new style ejectors ? Also fitted out a with new style solid game rib , like on new crown grade Jap Brownings ? All original ? ?
Thank you for your comment. Yes the barrels were converted here in the UK prior to be supplied to the gunshop/dealer. Original but certainly not what you expect. Kind regards, Matthew
aint a Krieghoff
Thank you for your comment. A Japanese Krieghoff😊. Kind regards, Matthew
