Ive owned a Browning 525sL laminate for a couple of years and just last week bought a Miroku MK38 IWA special limited edition grade 3 trap, teague choked and adjustable. Both brilliant guns but the Miroku is something else! WOW what a gun
I love my trimmer action Browning 725 Feather 12 gauge with a 26 inch barrel. Use Trulock blackened stainless steel ported extended chokes on mine. Lower in improved cylinder constriction and upper barrel in improved modified. Lengthen forcing cones and back bored in 3 inch chamber weighing 6 pounds and 8 ounces loaded.
You are correct. Initially the 525 was only available in the UK with a beavertail forend on some limited edition guns. Thank you for pointing that out and keep enjoying the channel. Kind regards, Matt
Back in the late 70's/80's when DTL was the premier discipline, before Sporting caught on here in the UK, the most popular mid priced gun by far on the trap circuit was the Miroku 800W. Anyone with a bigger wallet would go for a Perazzi or similar. The fist trap gun i had was a Miroku 600 ORE 30" f/f with a Monti Carlo and although it was rather plain in comparison to an 800 it was a dream to shoot and won me some comps. I just wish Miroku would fit ventilated mid ribs on the MK38, no idea why not.🤔
Bought a 2021 525 couldn`t get on with it at all swapped it for an old Perazzi with a lot of extra weight and perfect balance love it , was advised to try the Miroku as more drop on the comb? Great no nonsense review as usual.
Miroku wins hands down, there is a reason why browning doesn't want the Mk10 in Uk as it will completely kill their 525 sales, here in Aus Miroku built such a good name for themselves through early 70s they dominate the sales here, both guns are excellent, browning costs more grade to grade and can have nicer looks/more accessories in some guns, Miroku has more shooters gun feel
@@BrodieD they are a very hard gun to beat, our club uses mk70s as rent guns - i doubt many makes would stand upto what they go through in 3 years, just great all round
I wish we had the same selection from browning here in the states that you guys have out over the pond. Thanks for the video. I have a Browning Citori CX and a Hunter which I think are both 525's but cannot find the answer. Both of mine also came in a cardboard box and were made by Miroku. Would have been nice to get the browning abs case with them.
Great video! amazing review Matt! I got a new MK38 Sporter 12M Grade 1 + Teague with a Schnabel forend (YX in serial number, 2023, I think), exactly like the one you have there on the review. Can you please confirm the wood finish of this Grade 1 model? Is it oil-finished? I am confused
I’ve got a 525 and I took it out of the ABS case when I bought it brand new and it’s never been back in it so the cardboard box whilst poor at purchase once it’s in a nice slip or the safe.. who cares
MK 38 for me always. Everyone has their own idea of what BC means before Miroku. I was told its for Bukichi 1st president of Miroku and Chiyoki 2nd presesident. Truth is no one really knows.
The 525 is easily weighted, 3 cartridges fit wedged with a rag in the stock nicely and Browning sell a barrel weight for under the Forend. The weight is a royal rip off mind at £75 but easily added.
Either are as good as each other, they use the same action platform but the Miroku is heavier and engraved, where as the browning you could buy with a plain action.
Hi, im new to shooting clays and am yet to buy my own gun. Ive shot several different guns one being a miroku 3800 and i absolutely loved it, would it be worth considering buying one of those or would i be better buying a mk 38? Ive been told that they are almost identical in the way that they handle and perform?
I love my Miroku albeit is a MK10. Only issue I have is after quite a few shots it gets a bit stiff and there is a pin in the foreend (I think it retains the ejector system) starts to come out
@@MR12GAUGE I tried some waterproof silicone grease on my CG Summit a while back, worst grease i have ever used on a shotgun. It made the gun too difficult to open/close. I cleaned it all out and replaced it with some light multi purpose grease and never had a problem since. Also, with the grease being light in colour, you can see when it gets dirty and time to renew it.
First, thank you for the informative video. I live in Texas and would like to buy my first shotgun for Sporting clays and Skeet. I haven't seen the MK38 for sale. Is the Browning Citori CX line similar to the MK38? The Citori CX line is made in Miroku Japan if I'm not mistaken. Would you recommend the Citori CX if the MK38 isn't available?
As their all within the same price range if you had to choose for some occassional sporting and english Skeet which one would you select between and MK38/B725/B525 or a 686? TY! Would need to be steel proofed....
Thank you for your comment. I believe that Miroku shotguns are not readily available in the USA however we regularly export them over there. Please contact me at matt@premierguns.co.uk with your requirements. Kind regards, Matt

Having worked in metal recycling for over 30 years, I am somewhat puzzled at the ''new steel' v 'recycled steel. " There are many different grades of steel, but I haven't encountered one that doesn't incorporate secondary materials i.e. recycled i.e scrap. I may be wrong, but my suspicion would be that any increased likelihood of a Browning rusting is more likely to be as a result of the blueing/blacking process. It's surely unlikely that the factory would make effectively the same product in different grades of steel?
We will think about doing a 525, 425, and 325 comparison video. The 325 is a great gun and does feature the famous 'Chopper Lump' barrels with their famous ring when shutting.
Well I would be buying a new Miroku MK38 Sporter Grade 5, if my local Police Force hadn't unilaterally stopped accepting new Shotgun Grant Applications in August 2022. Very very frustrating!
I am really enjoying your reviews Matt but I think your history is a bit dodgy. Browning's close association with FN came after Winchester refused to pay a royalty for what became the Browning Auto 5 after previously purchasing most of Browning designs with a once off payment. After the President of Remington died of a heart attack just prior to meeting him, Browning negotiated successfully with FN for a royalty agreement for the A-5. Browning had previously sold designs to the FN concern beginning with the model 1899 pistol. Browning went to Herstal to supervise the initial production of the A-5 and stayed. The Browning Superposed was not the first OU shotgun the design having been around for centuries. The design was actually completed by his son Val after John Browning died. I believe the Parker Hale guns were manufactured by Olin Kodensha and are based on the Nikko/Winchester 101 design. The BC in the Miroku name is for Bukichi (Bukichi Miroku first President ) and Chiyoki (Second President Ido Chiyoki)
Thank you for your comment. It is no probem to export a Miroku to the US. We have done this many times. Please get in touch with your requirements. Thank you.
@@sofalugger a perazzi is nowhere near as mechanically hard as a miroku, so not sure how they are better? What makes perazzi a good comp gun is that you can have one built to fit you, what chokes/ barrel spec you want etc, exact gun fit is what gives you those extra targets and buying a second hand one usually means its built for someone else,, an out of the box mk38 can take you to an olympic medal, the 3800 proved that

Minor point. The modern o/u shotgun design was invented by Boss and closely followed by Woodward in 1909 and 1913 respectively.

In Australia I believe that the mk 70 and the 525 are the same. What is the Browning direct comparison to the mk 38?
Mk70 is same as the citori, mk10 is very similar to the 525, mk38 is basically an mk10 but can be had fixed chokes
What is the length of the forcing cones in the new MK38 ?
Are the barrels interchangeable?
