@@Naschira tatars have been persecuted in russia ever since 1552. mass murder of nogais by suvorov, among others. mass deportations by the tsars and by stalin. mass force conversions and burning at stake of apostates. all of this is thoroughly documented. it might be easy to assimilate a north american tribe, just throw them in a residential school. it is not easy to assimilate a nation with cities, crafts, literature etc. the nation that literally gave you money, customs, brick, paper, cast iron, pants etc. etc. etc. not just the words but the actual notions along with those words.
@@butwhy2471 I don't know this story very well. But it always seemed to me that the peoples on the territory of Russia live in the same conditions and exchange cultural experience with each other. And even if there were repressions, they also affected Russians and Tatars, and people of other nationalities. For example, a shipyard was taken from my ancestors during the revolution and sent to Siberia. Although they were Russian.
I'm a Tatar from Tatarstan, and the best thing I can say about our region is how peacefully and well we live together with the Russian majority (it's actually a 50/50 population here) and how our cultures are mixed now. We celebrate Russian and Tatar, Orthodox and Muslim holidays together, you can see churches and mosques everywhere, and the best thing is I have many friends among Tatars and Russians at the same time :)

The whole world is becoming "modern" and homogeneous, but traditional cultures should continue to be celebrated like this. "Sabantuy", I'm going to remember that name.
Exactly. Nowadays we are told that diversity is to all mix up and be all the same. True diversity needs to be preserved , and borders need to be enforced
Every new building that is built today is the same flavour of disgusting architecture, too, and the style never has anything to do with the local region. They're always the same boring, depressing, globally homogenous brutalist/"modern" eyesores, with teeming walls of glass, concrete and steel. Even the buildings meant to be "works of art" are just soul-sucking subversions of what is truly nice to behold and marvel at. We all need to get back to our roots.

I am from a diasporic Tatar Community that now speaks different languages: Persian, Urdu, Pushto, etc. We spread across in the original Mongol Army, turned to Persian (Iran/Faras), then invaded Afghanistan under Amir Timur (also called Timur the Lame), and, from Afghanistan, entered present day Pakistan under the Mughal King Akbar, the Great. I smiled so wide when I saw Russian Tatars wearing the cap we still wear. Also, cousin Eli, you are BEAUTIFUL to the point that it relives ones senses.
This video taught me a lot about the Tatar culture, it feels like I visited this festival myself! So cool that people gather and spend time with their families, eat, do sports there, and thus they preserve their culture and traditions. I wish we had such popular Slavic festivals as well.
Natasha, would be interesting if you can find similar things in Russian far east, I'm pretty sure it has to be things like this among the eastern ethnic groups as well.
The Putin government will not allow a Slavic festival to be held. The national and ethnic policy of Putin's Russia is aimed at supporting national minorities to the detriment of the Russian ethnos. This is similar to BLM in the west.

Salam, Tatars are the descendants of ancient Koreans during Goguryeo (Ko-guryo, meaning 'Great Korea' BC 39~668 AD) dynasty which collapsed in 668 due to war with Tang China and Silla Korea. They took refuge to Go'kTurk Kaghanat in the then- time Turkistan (modern Mongolia) and they lived with the 1) Go'k Turks, and the 2) Ogur (Uigurs) and 3) Tatars themselves forming the 2nd Eastern Turkic Kaghanat. After the collapse of Go'kTurk Kaghanat by the Uigurs in 742, the Tatars formed the 2nd largest ethnic group that composed the Uighur Kagahanat. After the collapse of the Uighur Kaghanat in 842, they moved west and eastword and became the ancestors of modern Tatars. While migrating they married Slavic, Persian and Turkic peoples and so, now they look differently from Koreans, but you can definitely see their Korean features in many of them. 1) The name of 'Tatar' was orginally "Taedaero"(Prime Minmister of Guguryeo) , but the Go'k Turks pronounced as Tatar (See Bilge Kaghan Stele and Kul Tegin Stele in Mongolia made in 732 and later). Tatar people means those people who were led by "Taedaero"(Prime Minmister of Guguryeo). 2) This word was recorded later in Chinese history book (New Book of Five Dynasties) in the 10th century and that book explicitly says "Tatars are people who lived between the Kitays and Malgals and they are the descendants of the Malgals (Ko-guryo people, i.e. ancient Koreans)! Sorry to disappoint but there is no such thing as "preservation of the cultures" in russia. It's an empire that tries hard to assimilate other nations that were conquered & humiliates their languages and customs to achieve this goal. In the best of times is "oh, you are so funny looking little people!". And it's always implied that even if you are Tatar or Chechen, you actually are russian - especially if you want to be successful & have some social status. They basically make fun of conquered nations and simultaneously, give the alternative, "good" path to avoid being humiliated - "just renounce your customs & way of life and you will be fine, you will be like us, the great russians!". So don't be fooled by some summer festival used for propaganda. To be a national minority in russia is not dancing & competitions while wearing national-looking costumes. It's poverty in your region and young people being sent to war to eliminate those who can revolt against the oppression. So the young people have no choice but to say they are russians and those who want to preserve their nation are forced by hardships.
@@nordinismail No. & please do not try to use "oh, some countries on the west did bad things so russia is justified in doing even worse" argument. It is insulting to everyone with a brain. Also - immigration is not the same as occupation & submission of a whole nation. In case if you don't understand the difference, let me show you: - immigration is like going to a friend's house, staying there & obeying the rules they already have there. Moreover, you feel pretty comfortable & if you don't you can leave at any moment - occupation is when that "friend" comes to your house, kills some members of your family, takes your resources & forces others to behave how they want you to behave. While smiling radiantly - because you can't really complain. & you can't just "go back". There is nowhere to go back to.

Yes, Russia is extremely diverse. As much diverse as many different countries. In fact these 'ethnic minorities' which in case of Tatars comprise abt 6 mln people used to be independent nations. And that explains why having being conquered by Russia they now became 'a part of diverse Russia'. If one thinks a bit, he/she would understand how Russia works - it conquers different nations and tries to absorb and assimilate them, so that later naive foreigners are surprised how much Russia is diverse. That is basically the same thing which is being done now in Ukraine. Ukrainians once managed to escape, but they aren't allowed to be a normal different country. Russia prefers to have it as another diverse pearl inside itself. One should not put❤here but rather😡
I enjoyed the video. Russia is such a diverse country and the countryside landscapes are beautiful. I hope to one day make it to one of the Tatar festivals. 🌺❣️
As an American what I appreciate most, watching your video, is having a heritage that has been able to be passed on. We have always been in a state of conflict and quite frankly it gets old. Greetings from an American descendant of the ethnic Bulgarians of Aegean Macedonia (in modern Greece)! The Kazan Tatars are descendants of the Mongols of Genghis Khan + the allied to them Turkic Tatars, who overwhelmed the Empire of Volga Bulgaria in the 1230's. Between the 660's and 1230's, the territory of contemporary Tatarstan was known as the Empire of Volga Bulgaria. The Volga Bulgars and the Slavs living in these lands mixed genetically with the newcomers. No wonder, the culture of the Kazan Tatars (partially descended from the Volga Bulgars) is eclectic, so rich, so fascinating! Best wishes!
This is the largest official study to establish the genetic origin of Bulgarians, with the largest-scale study of DNA and the so-called "mitochondrial chromosome" that is passed from mother to children. It is organized by BAS (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), MU (Medical Univercity) and with the participation of the universities of Pavia and Florence in Italy. It was initially funded by the Ministry of Education, youth and science and Italian foundations. Later, other means were found to extend it to 2015. (There are partial works including from 2018-2019) The research is actually a series of work carried out over the years and the specialists involved in it since 2011 are Sena Karachanak, Desislava Nesheva, Draga Toncheva, Yordan Yordanov, Angel Galabov, V. Atanasov, Viola Grugni, Vincenza Battaglia, Simona Formarino, N. Al -Zahery, Valeria Carossa, Antonio Torroni, Ornelia Semino, David Caramelli (Director of the Department of Biology and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Florence) and Martina Lari. In laboratories in Bulgaria, Italy (the universities of Florence and Pavia). Quotes: - "We found no evidence of East Asian and African haplogroups. Thus, our results do not support theories of Мongоlo-Altaic and Hun-Тatаriс origins of proto-Bulgarians." - "Proto-Bulgarians are positioned among South-Eastern and Southern European populations including modern Bulgarians." - "On the greatest distance from Proto-Bulgarians are Volga-Ural and Arabic populations." - "Our results therefore suggest that proto-Bulgarians are genetically similar to modern Bulgarians and to certain South-Eastern European as well as Italian populations." From an interview in 2018: - "Years ago we mentioned that our research shows that we do not have Turkic origin, we are not closely related to Turks and Altaians." - "It is categorically clear that the Thracians have no closeness to the Turkic-Altaic populations, and the Tatars have no genetic closeness either to the modern Bulgarians or to the proto-Bulgarians as well." And let's repeat again: ...and the Tatars HAVE NO GENETIC RELATIONSHIP TO BOTH THE MODERN BULGARIANS AND THE ANCIENT PROTO-BULGARIANS... And this one again: THE POPULATIONS FROM THE VOLGO-URAL ARE AT THE GREATEST GENETICAL DISTANCE FROM THE PROTO-BULGARIANS Genetics is an exact science, and the geneticists showed that the DNA samples extracted from the teeth of 100% proven to be Proto-Bulgars (by the archeologists and historians) from the 8th-10th centuries from Nozharevo (Silistrense), Mostich Monastery (Shumensko), Tukhovishte (Satovcha) are homogeneous among themselves, meaning proto-Bulgarians were one ethic group, not mix of people and it has been established that they are identical to today's Bulgarians and people from Central Italy. They were found to be a majority, not a minority. And they are on the greatest genetical distance with the old and new DNA probes from the whole Volgo-Ural region, including Tatars, Chuvash etc. There is no way that if there was a "country" or "cities" of Bulgarians, not a trace of them remained. Even if they were assimilated, with a changed culture, way of life, self-awareness, religion, etc., undoubtedly in their DNA there would be a residue and similarity with those of the old and present-day Bulgarians, but there is none. Bulgarians never had any closeness and connection with the Tatars, Chuvash and other population from Volgo-Ural. We have absolutely no similarities with culture, way of life, self-awareness, religion, language, traditions, DNA. We modern Bulgarians are the only descendents of the real Proto-Bulgars and we carry their culture, language, name, DNA - everything. History is manipulative, don't believe the 19-20th century false thesis!

Yet another outstanding video clip from Eli. Blogging has actually come so naturally to Eli. She has obtained success very quick, I can not assist be a little bit jealous of her, though the quality of her videos are far above mine and also above many youtubers. I have been blogging concerning Russia for over 4 years as well as the youtube algorithm has not ben as kind to me as it has actually been to her. Can I ask, what was it that attracted you to click on Eli's video, prior to you recognized just how amazing she is?
@@SamsRussianAdventures I had to actually look back at her earlier videos from 2019 to remember exactly what it was that drew me in and got me interested in her content... Lol 😂 who am I kidding?!? I’m a simple man. I see pretty and I click! For real though, back then (and actually for quite sometime before) I was trying to familiarize myself more with Russian culture and it’s people (and a little bit of the language). There are many reasons, but a lot of it is because I have much in common with and believe in many of the same traditions as well as cultural norms as them due to my own upbringing. Finding Ms. Bakunova was totally the RUclips algorithms fault! But I’m obviously not complaining... I’ve periodically binged on a handful of her videos over the past couple years, and have noticed how quickly she got comfortable connecting with people over her camera (which has got to be one of the strangest things ever to actually do!!!). The rest of the story you already know. And let’s face it, besides the variety of topics she covers and how well she communicates orally (and especially creates her stories and narratives), she’s very fun to watch - in an uplifting kind of way! Positive energy and being able to transmit that through the camera is a gift, and she’s definitely got it... That, and being a gorgeous, freckled red head is a pretty big positive for her too!

For example, a shipyard was taken from my ancestors during the revolution and sent to Siberia. Although they were Russian.

But we used to call these tataris that's why I asked.
@@Al_Samad Yeah they are the descendants of Great Golden Horde one of the four major khante formed after the death of Genghis Khan..
I love the diversity in Russia. Preservation of the cultures are important.
Yes. Real diversity means keeping cultures and people distinct and not trying to mix everything/everyone
@@justinemot2282 isn't that is the bahaviour of western nations towards those who migrate to europe?
@@nordinismail No. & please do not try to use "oh, some countries on the west did bad things so russia is justified in doing even worse" argument. It is insulting to everyone with a brain.
Also - immigration is not the same as occupation & submission of a whole nation. In case if you don't understand the difference, let me show you:
- immigration is like going to a friend's house, staying there & obeying the rules they already have there. Moreover, you feel pretty comfortable & if you don't you can leave at any moment
- occupation is when that "friend" comes to your house, kills some members of your family, takes your resources & forces others to behave how they want you to behave. While smiling radiantly - because you can't really complain. & you can't just "go back". There is nowhere to go back to.
@@justinemot2282 I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you are lying and living the stereotypes of Western propaganda. There are many national republics in Russia and no one infringes on them or bans their native language. Shame on you for spreading this kind of information.

When Turkic tribes created states called STAN Tatarstan, Russia wasnt state but Moskwa Stan I assume word derivate from Hindu since Turkish state is Devlet
Tatarstan is not Russia but stalin forcefully annexed all these states and now wants to annex Ukraine
Size of Russia is now huge bigger than a Continent which need population of India to populate all that area😊
What little heritage we have many, under the guise of progressivism, try to destroy so a new version can be created at a great cost to our society. I love that in a day so full of wonderful technology it is still a simple festival that can bring great joy to so many participants.
Are you republican?
Very well said, Thomas!
Obrigada Eli por mais um vídeo que nos faz visitar o vosso belo país . ❤ saudações de Portugal 🇵🇹

@Home Banger your in denial your country is over populated 1.4 billion do you think its not over populated?Russia is bigger than India America also but there population is not billion compare to india.
@@artchelpagente8349 See,population density depends on base population(at the begining of the century) and climatic conditions.
India's population was the highest in the world since the stone ages and thus high base population.
And we had huge fertile land, lot of water, a strong cultural civilisation and climate suitable for large population therefore our population had growth rate similar to that of Europe in the Industrial revolution but since our base population was already the highest, our present population is littile higher than europe.
No. of Europeans in the world(including those migrated to the Americas and Australia) is more than 1.8 billion even though their European homeland(excluding russia) is of similar size as the Indian subcontinent.

What is it that makes Eli's videos excellent!!!? Is it these little things! Nevertheless her modifying and also videos are excellent. She influences me to make better material. I have to admit that I am a little bit jealous. Her channel exploded so quickly. Love this video! It’s always fun to visit the “tourist” sights but to visit the areas where real people live is very special to me. And when you create a video as good as this one, you will see that people pretty much want the same things. That is, a chance to share events with family and friends and share their culture with others. Would love to visit this festival! Thanks for sharing your country with us!
I was at this festival in Kazan 2 years ago. Was really nice and the Tatars are hospitable too played some of the games and tried some of the foods too.

From IRAN. Great video, love Russia and its people. Beautiful country.
(There are partial works including from 2018-2019)
The research is actually a series of work carried out over the years and the specialists involved in it since 2011 are Sena Karachanak, Desislava Nesheva, Draga Toncheva, Yordan Yordanov, Angel Galabov, V.
Quotes:
- "We found no evidence of East Asian and African haplogroups. Thus, our results do not support theories of Мongоlo-Altaic and Hun-Тatаriс origins of proto-Bulgarians."
- "Proto-Bulgarians are positioned among South-Eastern and Southern European populations including modern Bulgarians."
- "On the greatest distance from Proto-Bulgarians are Volga-Ural and Arabic populations."
- "Our results therefore suggest that proto-Bulgarians are genetically similar to modern Bulgarians and to certain South-Eastern European as well as Italian populations."
From an interview in 2018:
- "Years ago we mentioned that our research shows that we do not have Turkic origin, we are not closely related to Turks and Altaians."
- "It is categorically clear that the Thracians have no closeness to the Turkic-Altaic populations, and the Tatars have no genetic closeness either to the modern Bulgarians or to the proto-Bulgarians as well."
And let's repeat again:
...and the Tatars HAVE NO GENETIC RELATIONSHIP TO BOTH THE MODERN BULGARIANS AND THE ANCIENT PROTO-BULGARIANS...
And this one again:
THE POPULATIONS FROM THE VOLGO-URAL ARE AT THE GREATEST GENETICAL DISTANCE FROM THE PROTO-BULGARIANS
Genetics is an exact science, and the geneticists showed that the DNA samples extracted from the teeth of 100% proven to be Proto-Bulgars (by the archeologists and historians) from the 8th-10th centuries from Nozharevo (Silistrense), Mostich Monastery (Shumensko), Tukhovishte (Satovcha) are homogeneous among themselves, meaning proto-Bulgarians were one ethic group, not mix of people and it has been established that they are identical to today's Bulgarians and people from Central Italy.
