as a bisexual that was a really hard choice, of course I bought both of them so that only a tough choice when it came to which one should I start with first
I heard about there being older gen Pokémon there, so I was excited. I looked it up after getting there. Luckily, because I already didn't really have the patience for older Pokémon games, I was emulating White on my 3DS (despite owning the physical game) so I could use speed cheats, and there were also cheats for adding people to the White Forest. It doesn't feel like much of an accomplishment, but when the original accomplishment would just be "speed run the game after you just beat it, and even then you might not have the people you want" was just not worth it.
Wait, it's about how long it takes you to complete the game?! I thought that Black City was lame AF. It had one house and two weak trainers. Then I beat the game again and it had literally nothing. I always assumed it was about how many real people I interacted with. It's seriously about how long it takes you to beat it?! Since when have the game devs cared about speed running???
My best friend and I usually get opposite versions, so we can cover the onesie we’re missing. When it comes to ones relating to the red and blur colors, I usually get the red on 😅. Except with Sword since my friend thought that would suit me better since I prefer offensive strategies. So glad I did, Zacian now my favorite Fairy. 😊
Your friendship is so cute, I love it I do this with my brother too! Usually I choose first, based on which version has the cutest regional Pokémon lel
Friend Safari STILL WORKS. You can add someone while being connected to WiFi, and their safari will show up. You just don't get hidden abilites OR access to that person's third Pokemon.
@LynxTheUnrelated Because you have to appear online in the game as the same time as the person whose friend safari you're accessing, and since the online servers for the games are gone, you can't complete that requirement.
I remember as a kid almost everyone would buy the first one in the pair (Red, Gold, Ruby, etc) so I would intentionally buy the second one (Blue, Silver, Sapphire, etc) which meant I was often the only person with certain version exclusives meaning I could ask for pretty much any Pokémon in exchange for my precious Magmars, Skarmorys and Lunatones
@emilstoqanov3270 yep. And they are (arguably) the opposite of what they say they are do to trainers not losing/gaining stats with their level change, while you still gain xp based on the lvls they are.
@@darmorel549not arguably, factually. By giving you less experience to fight pokemon that are actually higher level than they appear, you are weaker fighting stronger enemies on "easy" mode, and in hard mode they're weaker and leveling you up much more. They also messed up items

Wow I picked the wrong version when it comes to Kalos. When you have a smaller exclusives list and your heaviest hitter is *Manetric,* we have a problem.

Given that May is best girl - with Rosa as a hot contender, Gen 3 is best for me. The legendary Trio in those games are flawless, and the story and region design are top tier. Plus, there's a Battle Frontier post game. Something most pokemon games lack nowadays for whatever reason...
I just choose whichever comes first when talking about them, for example people usually say: “Sun and Moon” “Scarlet and Violet” “Red and Blue” so I pick Sun, Scarlet, and Red. There are some exceptions, whenever playing Gen three I normally go with sapphire, i don’t know why I just do
Zamazenta would have been better if they committed to it being a defensive wall. As is it's an even split and not good at either attack or defense. Also, it shouldn't have gotten nerfed for Zacian's crimes.
Friend Safari was one of the coolest things. There were tons of people trying to match certain Safaris and I collected a bunch so I could breed perfect Pokemon for people.
I dont remember ho-oh being a version exclusive in ORAS, because on the sunken mauville ship I was able to go through 2 hoops, one on the ships bow down the end of the pole that gave me ho-oh and one hoop underwater in the ships compartment thing that gave me lugia
It took a while for me to figure out there was a day and night cycle in Pokemon moon since I played it at night all the time and thought it was just a day game
Ho-oh and Lugia werent version exclusive in the Johto games, the opposite mascot is catchable in the post game. However in Gen II specifically due to the move reminder not existing. Silver is the way only for Lugia to know Aeroblast and the same for Gold with Ho-Oh and Sacred Fire as Lugia and Ho-ohs levels are too high on the opposite versions and Crystal
My mom bought my brother and I HeartGold and SoulSilver when they first came out and I chose HeartGold solely because I thought Ho-Oh looked cooler on the box lol
In my opinion, the better versions are (not counting the 3rd versions as they are better by default) Gen 1= Blue = Ninetales is a better fire type than Arcanine back then. While I like the Legends games for letting you be able to get all the pokemon without exclusives, the 2 game versions always have had a charm to me. Sure go with the classic joke "Can't complete Pokedex because no friends/money" gig, but I genuinely like how you can choose the same story with some unique possibilities.
That can be accomplished by just having exclusives based on personal choices you made in the story instead of which one you spent your wallet on. Fire Emblem Three Houses has 4 different playthrough possibilities and you don't have to buy a specific version of the game. You just choose one of the three paths at the beginning of the game (with the 4th one being a secret route)
Very smart! I always choose whichever one has Growlithe, except for on Virtual Console. And LGPE. Let's Go Eevee was an accident. My hot take is that Black is actually better because you get Reshiram. I don't just prefer Reshiram for personal reasons. I think that the player character representing truth makes more sense for the story.
I always got the "blue" version of the exclusives, such as Silver, Sapphire, Diamond, Leafgreen, Alpha Sapphire, Violet. I wish I had gotten White over Black, because the White Forest having Pokemon makes it 3x better
I picked Sword because Zacian is an indirect ripoff of the protagonist* in a series I wrote in 2013-16, and the coincidence was SO uncanny that it HAD to be my main version! 😂 (Sword having most of my preferred version exclusives was a nice little bonus ✨) *Zander “Zed” Starmute, aka Lupus Nobilis (“Noble Wolf”), is a sword-wielding magic-user with orange hair, cyan clothing, and an OP BS alternate form that makes him near invincible, though it only activates in intense circumstances and is unreliable to wield and/or maintain for any duration…
I typically just choose the game based on which box art legend I like better. But with Scarlet and Violet, I loved Koraidon infinitely more than Miraidon, AND the past paradoxes look so much better so it worked out for me
I have always picked whichever one has the version exclusive Ghost type until they threw a wrench into things and I had to actually make a decision. I went with Violet because it just turned out that coincidentally most of the games with a version exclusive Ghost type happened to be the cool/Blue version for that Gen.
I always get the second one. Shield, Violet, Eevee, and I will keep doing this forever and ever. This was something I’ve always planned on doing even though I only ever got my first Pokemon game last year. I always liked Moon more, Y more, Sapphire more, Pearl more, White more, etc.
In gen 3 I played Emerald instead of buying either of the order ones, and I'm STILL salty that the third version didn't have all of the Pokémon in both games. I was really sad about Zangoose not being there when I was a kid, especially since a trainer in the game uses one.
Sun and Moon are the only versions where I don't have a clear favorite. I could take both, though they do have more aspects to their version exclusives. For example, they split the clothing color options so only cool colors are in Moon and warm ones are in Sun.

I guess Ho-oh needs all the better items and exclusives to make up for the fact that, aside from Raikou, is the least iconic Legendary of Gen 2. Having a movie with an epic musical motif that still gives people goosebumps when they hear it does a lot.

Say what you want about the paradox mon, Violet is better because of the school uniforms

I guess Ho-oh needs all the better items and exclusives to make up for the fact that, aside from Raikou, is the least iconic Legendary of Gen 2. Having a movie with an epic musical motif that still gives people goosebumps when they hear it does a lot.
When I was 10 I got Pokémon sword because I liked Zacian better but ALL the other version exclusives I wanted so I was hunting for a galarian Ponyta and was searching far and wide for a Goomy
I'm pretty sure there is more then one moon stone in Ruby beside the one in meteor falls.
I got tricked with Sword. The DLC added Garchomp, but as a Shield exclusive. Rip me.
NOT THE “ Living with Determination P3” SONG AT THE END!!
Black City is needed for a lot of evolution stones
I got Scarlet but I really wanted Ceruledge so I had a friend trade me a Pokemon holding Malicious Armor lmao
I did sheild because of melony and lost twice with not getting zacian and clara
