The Lucas/Dawn thing confuses me because while the game heavily hints towards Dawn in dialogue, she has Torterra, Barry has Empoleon, and while only in cutscene for now, Lucas has Infernape. That formation can only happen if Lucas is the protagonist and he chose Chimchar, since Barry always chooses the starter that beats yours.
It's the same with brendan/may, May has swampert and brendan has sceptile, and the only way that could happen is if May is the protagonist and chose mudkip, so the rival takes the starter with type advantage, but then in the game it's shown that norman is brendan father, which only happen if he is the protagonist
@@ryzer3886To be fair, they show up at pasio with their starters at the first evolution stage. Dialogue from Brandan reveals that starters that they bring came from an egg so it’s possible that they just swapped eggs around.
Rayquaza is literally stated to have chosen her *after* the events of the delta episode in masters, not during. Her entire quest where you obtain her pair with Rayquaza is her confronting it again with a new and healthier goal under entirely different circumstances. The cards also show Rayquaza as her pokemon (trainer gallery). It is in fact, the same Rayquaza that rejected her. I think it’s honestly some really good character development for her even if it isn’t canon, and it’s definitely deserved. If she had gotten what she wanted originally, she’d have died, but after the meteoroid was resolved safely, she realized she was still capable of protecting the world and those beyond it without giving her life for it. She found new purpose, and her life finally has meaning again. She also gets a cool hat and a thievul and becomes the hamburglar so there’s that too
I kinda prefer for her to just never get chosen and have to suck it up. Her story is one of hubris, so turning it into a 'sweet and sour grape' scenario, where she gets what she wants when she doesn't want it anymore, feels lame.
Possible in-universe explanation: Victor returned to Galar after doing certain DLC side activities and defeated Leon at least once in the postgame Galarian Star Tournament, while Gloria was taking part in Pokémon Sword’s postgame storyline with Hop and eventually befriended Zacian. Had Hop defeated Gloria in the Champion’s Cup, it’s possible that he never would have befriended Zamazenta because of the Butterly Effect.
The way I see it is that Gloria and Victor both exist and are both Hop's friend. Gloria's story was basically just the Darkest Day related plot beats while Victor's were only the Victory Road plot beats and they would tackle some of the plot together like taking down Rose and some of the post-game Dynamax stuff. Gloria was the chosen Sword so she did all the stuff with The Cyan with Hop having his role as the Shield and having The Magenta. Meanwhile Hop and Victor were the ones who made it through to the end of the league, had the climactic battle and then Victor went on to beat Leon. Then just for completionists sake, Victor went to the Isle of Armor to continue his Pokémon Training studies and Gloria went to the Crown Tundra to study more of Galar's history and legends.

It’s basically Hoopa, Arceus, Dialga, and Necrozma, just taking everyone to one timeline from different games. In Pokemon there’s no one true canon. There’s just events that happen across all timelines.
I mean, technically Arceus very clearly is messing with both this island and its inhabitants also, as he's probably the reason for the space time distortions here (because all three of the origin trio are surprised by the sight of these, with Giratina even seemingly nervous).

My favorite piece of lore in Masters is that Hilbert is the main character who went through the league and dealt with Team Plasma, during which Hilda was locking the fck in with the Battle Subway. She missed the entire plot, yet still recognized N on sight because Hilbert's gay ass wouldn't stop talking about him.
Furthermore on Gloria, her canonical starter is Inteleon. She explains during her Summer outfit event that her Sync Partner Inteleon used to be the Sobble she picked for her Champion Cup journey.
There's a whole storyline that explains Rose being from the past (still hasn't committed his future crimes), N has both Zekrom and Reshiram, etc. Hoopa just bring the characters from multiple timelines AND different eras to mess around lol Edit: You're divulging incorrect information with these shorts, you should do a good research instead of misinforming.
For people who actually played the game and payed attention to the dialogue, most of the characters are from one timeline. Only certain characters like the villains and Ash are made 100% clear that they are from a different universe. Here is what "canon" in Masters A mix between Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, as Red, Leaf, Chase, and Elaine all coexist and know each other, unlike in the original games. Leaf takes the remaining first partner Pokémon that wasn't picked by Red and Blue. Red is the player character. A mix between Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver and Pokémon Crystal, as both Lyra and Kris coexist in the same game. Ethan is the player character. A mix between Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon Emerald, as everyone is in their Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire design, and characters from Emerald appear in the game. It is also mentioned that both villainous teams, Team Magma and Team Aqua, were active during the events of the game, something that only happened in the story of Pokémon Emerald. Brendan is the player character. Pokémon Platinum, as Cynthia had previously visited the Distortion World, and Cyrus from the original game was defeated there. However, Dawn, Lucas, and Barry use their Pokémon Diamond and Pearl designs instead of their Pokémon Platinum designs. Dawn is the player character. Pokémon Black, as Hilbert is the Hero of Truth, and N is the Hero of Ideals. Pokémon Black 2 or White 2, with Rosa as the player character. Pokémon Y, as Calem and Serena seem to have never seen Xerneas before, in stark contrast to Yveltal, which Serena immediately recognizes. Also Serena is the player character. Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, as Lusamine mentions previously meeting a Necrozma that she considered "a menace to be defeated... before it could steal all the world's light". Lusamine also doesn't seem to have been possessed/poisoned by Nihilego, and there is no mention of her recovery, either. Although Elio and Selene are mostly depicted in their Pokémon Sun and Moon designs, they are also shown in their Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon designs. Both Elio and Selene coexist in the same game, unlike in the original game. Pokémon Sword, as Gloria owns Zacian and Hop owns Zamazenta. Both Victor and Gloria coexist in the same game, unlike in the original game. Pokémon Legends Arceus, with Rei being the player character. Pokémon Scarlet, as every character associated with the Paldean academy is wearing their Naranja Academy uniform, and Penny's mindscape features the same school
While I don't have any objections to what is laid out here, I'm certain I remember Lusamine walking with Gladion and Lillie in her event story, and an encounter with Guzma reveals that she is trying to atone for her past misdeeds and be a better mother to Gladion and Lillie. Sure, she wasn't any better of a mother in USUM, but the nature of the dialogue in the PokéMas story kind of gave me the impression that the events in the original Sun and Moon games indeed happened.
yeah totally Summer outfit it's funny because there's some inconsistencies for that not being the case like the haircuts over with eilo you could probably do funny theory about And then Selene just where did that extra hair length came from
To be fair with Victor It took them a long time to even get Victor in this game as I heard people say or One? So Victor fans will probably find that they had The final stage grass monkey
@@FilipV88 But Ash would recognize THEM, they just didn't want to open that can of worms so the only game characters in his little story things are ones that have never been in the anime.
Rei is not that confusing. I'm pretty sure the developers went out of their way to imply the player character from Arcues and DP are not meant to be the same person, as Rei has a different height, model, and different voice actors than Lucas. He is definitely related to him, but they aren't meant to be the same character.
Rei is older than Lucas tho, 2 or 3 years. Rei could be named Rei due to him not remembering his name after being sent to the past, thus he made up a name for himself despite being Lucas
@francisco2759 That we don't know, Rei and Akari "look to be 15", that just gives us a rough range of age. Dawn and Lukas also do not have canon ages, they look to be somewhere from 12 to 16.
@@charnalk5572 since Rei was purposefully made taller than Lucas in masters, if they happen to be the same person, it's safe to say that Rei is older. We don't have enough evidence to support either side tho unfortunately
@francisco2759 It is made explicitly clear that Rei is his real name. They have never once hinted in the game that isn't his real name. And there is no hint that Rei has "memories" of anyone or events from DP. The most he does is comment on how characters look like their ancestors, not "Hey I think I remember you?" It's always "You remind of that person from the past".
Most people don’t know what “canon” means: the game isn’t canon to the mainline games, yes, but the characters come from them (and the anime). It’s like Dissidia Final Fantasy: the characters are the same as the original games, but the story takes place in its own separate universe that doesn’t influence the others.
If they’re smart, they’ll give this game the Fire Emblem Heroes treatment. Or the Mario Kart Tour treatment, whichever you prefer. Either way, the important part would be to help preserve Masters content on native hardware.
@@BJGvideos It is in the same way Masters is to the Pokémon series: the characters are brought into a separate universe from multiple worlds/timelines. Dissidia is even more inconsequential because the events don’t affect the main story of the main games. Though there’s the exception for the first Final Fantasy, whose story is started by the events of Dissidia and Stranger of Paradise.
At least Masters did one thing we can all stand behind. It gave us a chance to battle Ash. Heck…there was that one event where we needed Electric and Poison Pokémon to fight, so I brought the gang of Ash, Jessie, and James back together!
Surprisingly, Pokemon Master is the only game with the most consistent world building and storytelling (mostly, unless the writers were forced to write "fanservice"... looking at you, N's Reshiram and Lillie's Solgaleo). You can trace back some of the references a character might say if you pay attention, like Rika being buddies with Whitney and being referenced by Jasmine in the latest NY event. It's mostly soft canon within its own universe with multiple timeline shenanigans, but sometimes it has some great writing when it's allowed to be fun. It's fun to see characters who never interact with each other just talk in here. Now, go destroy the universe harder, Rei!
It also give some age ranges, some of which are very surprising. Like how Acerola gets narrowed down to being 17-19 because Calem (16) calls her "Acerola nee-san" or "big sis" in the English version, & Sophocles, who is baby, remarks that she helped raise him since she was a little girl & always ran a tight ship
@@Fanimati0nI think Acerola being a "big sister" is more of an honorific than a literal age difference and Calem more showing respect of authority to her.
Some more strangeties to note: It is implied that the Cyrus from this game is not from this world. Both the Alola protagonists say or imply at one point or another that their mom has a kantonian meowth, so maybe in this reality they are siblings. Ash is here, but only because of being brought from another world. And only temporarily at that because of it being an Anime Finale promotional event. Handsome has his buddy Croagunk (iykyk). Events of games in general have very clearly had very different courses. Giovanni very clearly and obviously never gave up or dismantled team rocket.
Oh yeah Cynthia is like "how the hell did you get out of the Distortion World" and Cyrus is like "i literally have no idea what you're blathering about"
I think they are all from different timelines, very similar to the ones we consider "canon" (like FR, Y, Black, etc...) and some different ones (like Zinnia having Rayquaza maybe coming from a Delta Emerald game, Kris being there or Rei from PLA) and they were all brought together in a single timeline to which NO ONE originally belongs
small thing, elio is just wearing a different outfit, there are not 2 elios. in the event they were released in, they mention they're just wearing a different outfit to "show their dedication to making ultra beast fans", so it's just one elio and one selene, no alternate universe shenanigans going on.
The Legends Arceus characters are in Masters because of Space/Time Rift, the same rift that brought Ingo and the player character to Hisui. But unfortunately, the world that the Hisuian characters are in is not their universe or their future (Rei, the main character, explains that the world feels familiar but he is not home), clearly because Lucas is in Masters. But this is the same Rei who knows Volo's evil plan and his Giratina. Then of course, Ash is there because advertising for the Masters 8 Tournament and he was taken before the tournament. So he wasn't a Pokemon Master yet.
As far as we know, the list of which protagonists are “canon” to Masters includes: Red, Ethan, Brendan, Dawn, Rei, Hilbert, Rosa, Serena, and Gloria. The Paldea protagonists aren’t in the game yet, and the Alola protagonists are (to my best guess) canon depending on the version of Alola you’re in (Elio in Sun, Selene in Moon).
@@bdt2002gamingAlola is definitely the most vague, but there’s more than enough dialogue from Elio about the main story, and just about nothing from Selene, aside from the Island Trials, to point to him being the canonical protagonist. Besides, he falls in line with the boy-girl-boy-girl order they seem to follow from Gen 3 onward.
the bit with rei at the end would actually have made made me spit out my drink if I was drinking something I didn’t know that was actually a real thing that can happen
Part of this I got hung up on is Leaf. I'm literally every piece of Pokémon media that featured the Kanto characters, including stuff made after the remakes, only Red and Blue show up with no mention of Leaf anywhere. She was basically banished to the non canon zone with Kris, but now she's just here and has an established history as if she's always been around
My personal headcanon is that Pasio is where Hilda and Hilbert ended up after the events of Black/White. In Black/White 2 some NPCs remark that the two of them disappeared without a trace one day, so I like to imagine they got warped to Pasio
I like to think of Masters as a sort of expanded canon in the sense that it gives fans a little more insight into the characters. Though I wish they would give more insight into characters that aren't fan favorites because they will never get anything else
Not all the time, rose and Oleana Came from the past before they woke up Eternatus and the People from Hisui got there from the time-space Distortions and other come from that world.
@@EmmaPurpleGuy Not Camilia (Or Tina, her official name). They do have a port for ships. Tina comes to the island directly. Rose, Marlon, Hau, Cyrus, Oleana and some others are through Hoopa Rings. Hisui is... Hisui lol.
The thing with Rei is so interesting because it is protag Lucas but the future he was sent to was in protag Dawn’s universe so he isn’t exactly home yet
i mean n also has reshiram at the same time like him having zekrom came first for us and is his default form and stuff but he very much also has reshiram with no textual clarification as to how he got either, let alone both
Masters is the best canon non-canon game. Because by all rights and purposes, we have already seen multiverse travel shenanigans happen in main line games so we know it's a thing. And we've already seen multiple instances of characters from different versions of the same region interact(my favorite example is that our Cynthia is from the platinum timeline but our Cyrus is from the pearl timeline). So there's no reason the game can't be canon even though it definitely isn't
The reason characters from Hisui are here is because of Space-time Distortions starting to appear on Pasio bringing dangerous wild Pokemon that threatened the safety of the people. And unlike the Space-time distortions in Legends Arceus, initially the first one that appeared showed no signs of stopping and had to be stopped using Lucas' Dialga and Cyrus' Palkia. These distortions still appear occasionally but now in much smaller scale. So far the only Hisui characters in Masters are Adaman, Irida, Rei, Akari and Volo (quite unfortunate there hasn't been more for a WHILE). And interestingly, it's also implied that this Rei has not yet been chosen by Arceus. But at the same time Rei never actually confirmed or denied Volo's words. It's still open whether or not he earned Arceus approval at this time. And as Volo promised after his final battle, he still hasn't given up, he's still scheming to subjugate Arceus even if it will take him decades or centuries.
Well... Zinnia's Rayquaza is actually a different Rayquaza than the one she encountered in ORAS though. There'a a whole Story about it that Zinnia is searching for a Rayquaza in Pasio. I believe it was Steven who caught the ORAS Rayquaza. And yes! I think it's Shiny Rayquaza. 😄
I simply just need to see more of the interactions that go down in Masters because like, a full game where every region in that current time of the Pokémon serious comes together for one big epic celebration and collaboration sounds so cool!! ...Too bad it's tied to a gacha game, I mean I love playing those (Those including Cookie Run Kingdom and Kingdom only as of the moment) but like you know I WANNA SEE THEIR STORIES-
The thing about this game is that it's its own canon, like how things are so different to the anime and manga. It's just that the base reference are the games to build the story around, however there are some inconsistencies like the Sinnoh trio's starter choice, but I don't think that really matters since regardless of role, the main characters are still labeled as is from their theme skills.
It’s amusing how the Legends Arceus protagonist is 100% Lucas, but since it’s never directly stated, DNA didn’t wanna make up canon for an official game so they just went “He’s an alternate Lucas that just has a different name.” to avoid directly connecting him to the same Lucas that’s already in Masters.
I could be wrong about this, but this isn’t necessarily true. BDSP/Legends Sinnoh is more than likely in an alternate universe from DPPt Sinnoh, and in this new version of events, “Lucas” was sent into the past by Arceus and through… certain implied things I won’t mention if you know what I mean, Rei and Akari would have eventually become the ancestors of the present-day Sinnoh protagonists.
@ I personally subscribe to the theory that the DP protagonist gets sent back to Hisui and creates the Platinum timeline through the events of the story. In terms of heritage, the protagonist (and Laventon’s assistant) would become the ancestor(s) to whoever is Rowan’s assistant in the Platinum timeline. It also explains why they don’t get to go home at the end of the game, they diverged from their original timeline. It would make their efforts meaningless if they got sent back to the DP timeline since it’d be as if PLA never happened, and if they were sent to the Platinum timeline it’d be like living amongst clones. In short: •DP -> PLA -> Pt •Lucas (Protagonist) + Akari = Dawn (Assistant) •Dawn (Protagonist) + Rei = Lucas (Assistant) BDSP could be considered an alternate reality where the DP protagonist never gets sent back and create the Platinum timeline.
Britain's number one holiday destination is benidorm, which kind of creepily matches the city where iono lives. That and 2 of the main 4 characters in s&v are galarian.
The Hisui thing I do in a roleplay and actually have a reason, she went to a timeline where she stayed so nothing changed because she was already dead. She lives her life in a present with her history already being recorded so it’s like nothing happened
With multiple universes being a thing... does it really matter how canon it is? What baffles me when it comes to similar discussions is that people want so hard to prove that only their vision of canon is correct and everything that contradicts it is wrong, but those things shouldn't be a problem since they can happen in different timelines.
Remember when Pokémon Masters EX was trending on Twitter because Game Freak didn't consider how the title would look without spaces and capitals? Good times.
Just imagine you put pieces from all kind of chess games in a single chess board for one kind of chess. Is basically that. Also like a massive crossover thing
Iono not speaking with Klara “because she’s British” is actually right though, and we are the proof. Iono is too focused on internet trends, it’s popular to hate the British, so she would. I can’t imagine how much she’d throw at Kalos for being _French_ though…
I’ve done a surprising amount of looking into this game, and it seems like Masters’ actual place in the greater timeline is in between Sword/Shield and Scarlet specifically. Notice how multiple Paldean characters that only started arriving after the Villain Arc (which itself went up through Galar) are constantly referring to the events of Scarlet as, and I quote, “very recent”. As for where all the Violet content is, I think Paldea’s another situation like Alola was where each version is an alternate universe of its own.
Also the Team Star stuff is resolved and Arven refers to his parent in the past tense (idk why he doesn't say "mom" when he's clearly from Scarletverse but hey)
As a Masters EX player, we just tend to ignore canon completely because we like hoarding our characters to ourselves Or that might just be me because I have like a million AUs on my hands now
To my understanding, all the main characters are at the end of their journey. This is why they interact with each other. What I find interesting is that a lot of the MC beat their region's champion without ever evolving their starter
Many of the early MC units that had evolution stories will usually say the starters are eggs from their starters; I assume they have fully evolved their aces in the mainline games.
there used to be a rule that 2 members of a team couldn’t be the same character, but at some point they changed it so now you can have 3 separate Reds go to battle
I have a small theory. The Protagonists for legends arceus is prof. rowan's assistant. Since it kinda states that rei is the canon protagonists. But if lucas is rowan's assistant, then it does makes sense
I keep wondering how they'll introduce the SV professors. We already have a canon alternate timeline where it's implied that they loosened up on their research before getting paranoid. Would they be from there? Would they be from the timeline where they were the one who left when Arven was a baby? Or would the game pull a Lysandre and give us "oh yeah they just didn't die where they're from"? No matter what they pick, Arven is going to have a crisis. Alternately they could just give us the AIs which is actually what I would prefer.
I love Masters so much idc that its a gacha mobile game. Its genuinely fun, has a good story/stories, its nostalgia bait (and I'm the fish), and it has PEAK music. Like. Arceus made this game I swear its too peak to be a mobile game ...
For anyone who actually wants to try learning a convincing fake laugh, I would recommend starting with snickering. Snickering doesn’t have too many tones to accidentally attach meaning to (it’s literally just a form of altered breathing) And for people who aren’t good at expression control, an acceptable ‘snickering pose’ has your hand covering most of your lower face. For example, my go to posing is: Hand over mouth and nose Head tilted down and to the side Hitching shoulders depending on how ‘intense’ the laughter is supposed to be (more intense = more shoulder shaking) but you can mostly go without it And eyes closed (again depending on the intensity you want to give off but skewing for a little harder than a normal resting position) again this is optional but it works for me Wish you luck
It's because most were taken from specific moments in during their stories. Others already had their events already happened but it's afterward but before their travels to other regions (after B2W2, but before Gen7), like Grimsley or Red. So basically it's between key events. As for who is Rei, since it's heavily that Akari is implied from Hisui naturally, but Rei is NOT Lucas, but still recognize the future sees it differently leaves only one option. Rather than being from the past and neither being from Gen 4 Present day Sinnoh, Rei from further into the future before being chosen by Arceus. Yes meaning that Rei is Lucas's/Dawn's descendant. It's optional canon at best.
They can afford to hire voice actors for a gacha game because it makes money. Same reason why an obscure Pachislot Ace Attorney game has god-tier animation.
@robertlupa8273 they could atleast get the same studio that the other nintendo games use, doesnt have to be xenoblade levels, but just a few grunts and cutscenes would go a long way
Because Pokemon masters was made by another company not gamefreak just like most of the Pokemon spinoff games like the detective pikachu games, new Pokemon snap, and other spin off games. Just like the anime and the movies is made by OLM and Shopro not gamefreak. Which is on a different development schedule than probably the games.
Larry and Kabu being best friends in Masters EX low key destroyed my life in a positive way. They have the best poke-friendship. They learn from each other, they accept each other and Larry willingly stopped doing overtime just so he can hang out with Kabu. They are constantly hanging out. This is just a perfect dynamic and it makes me happy that it is canon in one of the game continuities.
PLA characters interacted with modern characters and Kid Red and Blue interacting with Sun and Moon protagonist. Yep. Too much fiddling with time. Non-canon.
Sabrina is the most confusing thing about Masters """"canon"""" The Kanto gym leaders seem to have been taken from FRLG considering their designs. During one of the New Year events, there was a scene where all of the characters with traditional Japanese clothing were together, including Brycen. Sabrina then stares at Brycen as if she knows him but they didn't really talk to each other. Then last year, we had an event featuring Brycen-Man and Bellelba. So the Sabrina that we have in Masters is actually an older Sabrina. The one that is more emotive, to the point that she became an actress at the Pokéstar Studios. So why does she have her FRLG design? From back when she was a lot more serious and stoic? This is a bit different from how Elesa was handled. Elesa is from B2W2 and her outfit reflects that. Then we got an event where she just felt like wearing her old BW outfit. So this is still the older Elesa. She just felt like wearing her old clothes. In Sabrina's case, this is the older Sabrina. But for some reason, her normal attire is the FRLG outfit. And her HGSS outfit is not even in the game yet.
I’m just glad that Scarlet is considered more canon. The Hisuians being there was already explained in their event involving the spacetime distortions as famous in the Legends timeline

He goes up to it and is all "so, I notice you enjoy causing havoc. I too enjoy causing havoc. Would you like to cause havoc together?" And it's like yeah all right sure
Guzzlord was a caught by Team Rocket earlier in the game's story when Giovanni briefly controlled Hoopa.
If someone is worrying about 'canon' in Pokemon, they're in for a very bad time.
what do you mean a 20 year old franchise that’s never put the time into developing consistent lore doesn’t have it!!!!
ORAS threw that frog in a blender with the Delta Episode
And this is why I write my own stuff
IF WE CAN'T ALL HAVE ANSWERS, THEN AT LEAST I CAN
We still don't know how much time has passed between games after B2W2.
I’m one of those poor suckers, because I wanna know who has what Starter canonically. I have lost actual sleep over this pursuit of answers.
It’s basically Hoopa, Arceus, Dialga, and Necrozma, just taking everyone to one timeline from different games. In Pokemon there’s no one true canon. There’s just events that happen across all timelines.
I mean, technically Arceus very clearly is messing with both this island and its inhabitants also, as he's probably the reason for the space time distortions here (because all three of the origin trio are surprised by the sight of these, with Giratina even seemingly nervous).

black and white and b&w2 are literally connected, just like legends is connected to Dimond, pearl and platinum by being that regin's past
That's hilarious
IIRC Hilda (or White) also challenges the battle subway in pokespe and it's like part of her whole story arc
At least she's friends with Nemona now which is very funny with their chronic battle mania hehe.
Masters EX is the only place Red has spoken directly
Unless you count that one line in the Spanish version of GS, but who does
even when he speaks, he adds nothing
He speaks a couple times in RB and FRLG, most of his lines are just interacting with objects though
Automatically noncanon
@NagKai_Gthe Spanish speakers, I assume
Hoopa just bring the characters from multiple timelines AND different eras to mess around lol
Edit: You're divulging incorrect information with these shorts, you should do a good research instead of misinforming.
Honestly would make more sense if Arceus did it cuz as far as ik hoopa can only do it within it's timeline
I believe N's Reshiram is actually Hilbert's though.
I think Hilbert gave his Reshiram to N after they reunited.
@@andrew-o8w Hoopa can also bring characters from other timelines, as shown with Ash
@@xalt5321 I've completely forgotten the hoopa movie ngl
@@andrew-o8w Ash is a playable character in Masters
For people who actually played the game and payed attention to the dialogue, most of the characters are from one timeline. Only certain characters like the villains and Ash are made 100% clear that they are from a different universe.
Here is what "canon" in Masters
A mix between Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, as Red, Leaf, Chase, and Elaine all coexist and know each other, unlike in the original games.
Correction: calendar was the player character as they went to the elite four
I mean to be honest so far Naranja academy has become the default academy for the characters from SV
@ scarlet superior
Elio is slightly more protag than Selene, bc he actually mentions his mom having a Kanto Meowth, but in general they don't have a set protag for Alola
I'd say the Masters timeline is loose, one in which sometimes it follows the means the main games timelines. Sometimes it doesn't
Oh yes! Elio's ultra design That they say in a story event is just a summer outfit along with Selene
yeah totally Summer outfit it's funny because there's some inconsistencies for that not being the case like the haircuts over with eilo you could probably do funny theory about And then Selene just where did that extra hair length came from
To be fair with Victor It took them a long time to even get Victor in this game as I heard people say or One? So Victor fans will probably find that they had The final stage grass monkey
@@Tophat1174 Plot Twist: Selene's bob was a wig the entire time!!
I'd like to mention that THE Ash from the anime is in the game... and for some reason he coincidentally never met Red or Blue.
The bigger coincidence is that he just so happens to never come across any people he met in his own universe
He did meet Red in Masters.
Red was so impressed by Ash, he broke his silence and spoke
@@ArticfoxgamezThat's because no one would even recognize him whatsoever, as the characters are from the games specifically.
So gary just so happens to look like blue in the anime?
@@FilipV88 But Ash would recognize THEM, they just didn't want to open that can of worms so the only game characters in his little story things are ones that have never been in the anime.
Rei is not that confusing. I'm pretty sure the developers went out of their way to imply the player character from Arcues and DP are not meant to be the same person, as Rei has a different height, model, and different voice actors than Lucas. He is definitely related to him, but they aren't meant to be the same character.
It was clear since the beginning that they aren’t supposed to be the same person, but Pokémon fans are notoriously slow.
It also sort of revealed Allisters backstory.
Thank fucking god black is canon. That just felt right that N has zekrom on the premise of the Ideal world he wants.
It's canon in my heart even if I know it isn't and when it shuts down I'm gonna cry
Most people don’t know what “canon” means: the game isn’t canon to the mainline games, yes, but the characters come from them (and the anime).
It’s like Dissidia Final Fantasy: the characters are the same as the original games, but the story takes place in its own separate universe that doesn’t influence the others.
@@PMbarbieriDissidia is apparently canon to the main series, according to the devs.
Ikr I hope they do what Animal Crossing Pocket Camp did and give us an offline version.
If they’re smart, they’ll give this game the Fire Emblem Heroes treatment. Or the Mario Kart Tour treatment, whichever you prefer. Either way, the important part would be to help preserve Masters content on native hardware.
@@BJGvideos
It is in the same way Masters is to the Pokémon series: the characters are brought into a separate universe from multiple worlds/timelines.
Everyone did,including me too.
Hey now, let's be fair.
Iono's a streamer. Streamers thrive off of having a British friend that is slightly less attractive than them.
"So uh, sorry Victor"
😭
Some more strangeties to note:
It is implied that the Cyrus from this game is not from this world.
Giovanni very clearly and obviously never gave up or dismantled team rocket.
weird how you used Looker's original name while using the English name for everyone else but ok
@robertlupa8273 the struggles of being bilingual /hj

@@BJGvideosthat was Cheryl but alright

So basically different versions characters from either enhance ports or the A or B game version
Besides, he falls in line with the boy-girl-boy-girl order they seem to follow from Gen 3 onward.
the bit with rei at the end would actually have made made me spit out my drink if I was drinking something
I didn’t know that was actually a real thing that can happen
Dawn being Cannon makes sense. Cuz Lucas, your model mom didn't buy that outfit for you man.
I know it hurt him to make fun of Klara like that.
Archie and Maxie’s relationship dynamic in this game is canon in my heart
My personal headcanon is that Pasio is where Hilda and Hilbert ended up after the events of Black/White. In Black/White 2 some NPCs remark that the two of them disappeared without a trace one day, so I like to imagine they got warped to Pasio
I like to think of Masters as a sort of expanded canon in the sense that it gives fans a little more insight into the characters.
Though I wish they would give more insight into characters that aren't fan favorites because they will never get anything else
There's also a Hex Maniac named Helena who's adorable.
During Halloween Season ago.🤔
Isn't it confirmed people ended up on the island via Hoopa or am I wrong lol

The thing with Rei is so interesting because it is protag Lucas but the future he was sent to was in protag Dawn’s universe so he isn’t exactly home yet
Insert canon event joke here
We just need the event where Ash, and the TRio just look at each other and question what is even happening on Pasio.
i mean
n also has reshiram at the same time
like him having zekrom came first for us and is his default form and stuff but he very much also has reshiram with no textual clarification
as to how he got either, let alone both
Masters is the best canon non-canon game.
We're traveling through time and space
my boy Vicky at least has an Spectrier...
guess they'll give Gloria Calyrex-Shadow-Rider
“She’s british” I hope she gets well soon 😔
Thats a horrible fate 😭🙏🏾
I simply just need to see more of the interactions that go down in Masters because like, a full game where every region in that current time of the Pokémon serious comes together for one big epic celebration and collaboration sounds so cool!!
...Too bad it's tied to a gacha game, I mean I love playing those (Those including Cookie Run Kingdom and Kingdom only as of the moment) but like you know I WANNA SEE THEIR STORIES-
That last guy?
That’s just Jerry don’t worry bout him
The thing about this game is that it's its own canon, like how things are so different to the anime and manga. It's just that the base reference are the games to build the story around, however there are some inconsistencies like the Sinnoh trio's starter choice, but I don't think that really matters since regardless of role, the main characters are still labeled as is from their theme skills.
as someone trying to figure out who Rei is meant to be canonically that last bit is so real
In short:
•DP -> PLA -> Pt
•Lucas (Protagonist) + Akari = Dawn (Assistant)
•Dawn (Protagonist) + Rei = Lucas (Assistant)
BDSP could be considered an alternate reality where the DP protagonist never gets sent back and create the Platinum timeline.
@ This is the first I’ve heard of this theory and I absolutely love it. That makes so much more sense than what I thought was going on.
Britain's number one holiday destination is benidorm, which kind of creepily matches the city where iono lives.
That and 2 of the main 4 characters in s&v are galarian.
Came for the creature collecting, didn't stay for the lore or canon. Stayed for the creature collecting
The Hisui thing I do in a roleplay and actually have a reason, she went to a timeline where she stayed so nothing changed because she was already dead. She lives her life in a present with her history already being recorded so it’s like nothing happened
She?
@ the characters a girl
@sofiaearl57 Oh, Akari?
I played her as Mitsumi from the Diamond and Pearl Adventure manga
I remember getting so excited for about five seconds at the start of a trailer for Nemona in this game only to find out it wasn’t voice-acted SCVI DLC
It's a tournament so great that it breaks space and time
With multiple universes being a thing... does it really matter how canon it is? What baffles me when it comes to similar discussions is that people want so hard to prove that only their vision of canon is correct and everything that contradicts it is wrong, but those things shouldn't be a problem since they can happen in different timelines.
Remember when Pokémon Masters EX was trending on Twitter because Game Freak didn't consider how the title would look without spaces and capitals?
Good times.
Also the team rocket from the anime ate there too.
I personally dont see Masters as like truly cannon but cannon enough to stop debates
Well zinia having rayqasa was a plot point.
Not to mention the legendaries that stack
It's always been my headcannon that Pomas is only a simulation of what would happen if trainers met from all around the world.
As a Masters EX player, we just tend to ignore canon completely because we like hoarding our characters to ourselves
Or that might just be me because I have like a million AUs on my hands now
To my understanding, all the main characters are at the end of their journey. This is why they interact with each other. What I find interesting is that a lot of the MC beat their region's champion without ever evolving their starter
Many of the early MC units that had evolution stories will usually say the starters are eggs from their starters; I assume they have fully evolved their aces in the mainline games.
I love the shadow joke in the beginning
They even kept the moon protagonist spacing out
there used to be a rule that 2 members of a team couldn’t be the same character, but at some point they changed it
so now you can have 3 separate Reds go to battle
Gameplay and story segregation for the sake of gameplay variety
That was a thing? Well glad they changed it so I can use three N’s now.
Actually, Giacomo has on the blue vest, not the orange. Not everyone from Paldea has the Naranja uniform
The blue vest is his Scarlet uniform. His Violet outfit has yellow.
I like to think of Pokemon Masters as its own canon, like the manga
I have a small theory. The Protagonists for legends arceus is prof. rowan's assistant. Since it kinda states that rei is the canon protagonists. But if lucas is rowan's assistant, then it does makes sense
Why they gotta do my boy Victor like that
I keep wondering how they'll introduce the SV professors.
Hop got a legendary pokemon, Vic got a legendary boyfriend. You cannot convince me otherwise.
It's so fun seeing so much about this game and it not being available in my country definitely doesn't make me really mad
This would be great game IF IT WOULDN'T CRASH EVERY TIME
Was that a vocaloid reference at the start
At least Victor has a ghost horse
For anyone who actually wants to try learning a convincing fake laugh, I would recommend starting with snickering.
Snickering doesn’t have too many tones to accidentally attach meaning to (it’s literally just a form of altered breathing)
And for people who aren’t good at expression control, an acceptable ‘snickering pose’ has your hand covering most of your lower face.
For example, my go to posing is:
Hand over mouth and nose
Head tilted down and to the side
Hitching shoulders depending on how ‘intense’ the laughter is supposed to be (more intense = more shoulder shaking) but you can mostly go without it
And eyes closed (again depending on the intensity you want to give off but skewing for a little harder than a normal resting position) again this is optional but it works for me
Wish you luck
The game has such a wide range of voice acting that I wish was in the games
But unfortunately a gacha game somehow hired voice actors before gamefreak
@robertlupa8273 You suggest this like Nintendo and Game Freak somehow cannot afford voice acting.
Non-canon.
Some of it is canon, some not.
How is it any weirder than the crystal pool scene in SV?
And then suddenly the tcg made it so that Hop has Zacian ffs

Sabrina is the most confusing thing about Masters """"canon""""
The Kanto gym leaders seem to have been taken from FRLG considering their designs.
