The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, A Link Between Worlds, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Tears of the Kingdom
The Ganondorf sword fight in Twilight Princess is not only my favorite Ganon battle, it’s one of my favorite boss fights in all of Zelda. Just something about facing Ganon alone and relying on the hidden sword skills, locking blades with him, or even using the fishing rod to distract him. And then stabbing him in the heart and seeing him perish while standing is one of the most epic moments I’ve ever seen in Zelda history.
If you notice in BotW, each of the blights in the divine beasts had the header "Scourge of [location]". After TotK was announced and I replayed BotW, I noticed that Calamity Ganon had the same header: "Scourge of Hyrule Castle" So even the Calamity was still just another puppet of Ganondorf's, just like the blights. And I think that's neat. The eyeballs in all of the Malice that wouldn't open until Link was near them also match Mummydorf's eyes perfectly. So... like... I guess those Malice eyeballs were Mummydorf's creepy CCTV?
I always saw the Scourge titles as representations that Ganondorf's become something akin to an infection, or a computer virus given the cyborg nature of the Scourges and Calamity Ganon himself. In that light, I guess ToTK Ganondorf is the "creator," right down to sitting around in his dark room. It'd be a hell of a funny idea if the Malice eyeballs really were like CCTV cameras with Ganondorf tracking Link's progress. Maybe that's an idea that could crop up in a future game.
According to what we see in Japanese, Calamity Ganon is not actually a puppet but rather Ganondorf's Vengeful Spirit. The Reason he Switches from Gloom to Malice is also explained by that, Gloom/Miasma is his true Power of bringing Death with his unholy Darkness while Malice/Onnen represents his huge ammount of Wrath that drives his Spirit to Madness
@Chris-gx1ei Yeah. Even in the English version of TotK, Impa says Calamity Ganon is a rebirth of the Demon King through hatred. Fans seem to keep saying “It’s a surge of power” or “a puppet” but that’s not the case. Calamity Ganon is a full rebirth and just like any other Ganon/Ganondorf- all are born via hatred manifest- except by the time of BotW, his rebirth cycle has spiraled into chaos, causing him to be reborn as a calamity instead of man or beast.
@@dpackerman4203 My problem with Calamity Ganon was it was the first final boss fight since the early days of Zelda that had no personal connection to the story/Link. It didn't feel like the culmination of the epic story that every other final boss does.
Everyone loves The Wind Waker or Tears of the Kingdom, but to me, Ocarina of Time is still epic, because you fight both of Ganon's human and beast forms with a titanic finish. No, it has nothing to do with nostalgia.
I would put Wind waker Ganondorf at the top, ya his spectacle and gameplay isn’t as good as TotK or TP but the writing behind him and the motivation to beat him is so much more meaningful to me, also I would consider Puppet Ganon and Ganondorf from WW as one fight if you’re gonna include ganon and Ganondorf from OoT as one fight.
Ganondorf is one of the greatest video game main villains with Bowser, King Dededee and King K Rool, but defienitily Bowser and Ganondorf are my favourite and the best Ganondorf boss battles are in Ocarina of Time, The Wind waker, Twilight Princess and Tears of the Kingdom defienitily The Wind waker & Tears of the Kingdom has the best Ganondorf bosses! And I really hope to see The Wind Waker & Twilight Princess HD Remakes for Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 in this year! 😊❤
Mine too dude! I Absolutely Love, Respect and Appreciate Bowser Koopa from the *Super Mario* franchises, Ganondorf from *The Legend of Zelda* franchises, King K. Rool from the *Donkey Kong* franchises and King Dedede from the *Kirby* as all My Most Favorite Epic Antagonistic Nintendo Villains of All Time throughout the years!
@Leopez02 no offense, dude, but I ONLY prefer Meta Knight from the *Kirby* franchises, as like, a Best Friend, Companion and Partner in Crime to Kirby, NOT as a Nintendo Villain. King Dedede is the ONLY Nintendo Villain to Kirby
Definitely think the Wind Waker Ganondorf fight is best experienced after having played OoT. Probably has had the most sentimentality for me despite me liking Twilight Princess and Tears Ganondorf fights more.
It’s cool seeing how Ganondorf matured after his defeat in the adult time line to watch him completely crumble after everything he was working for fail in WW to seeing how he reacts after not reaching the heights he did in WW in TP. Both still master scheming in both games tho.
Wasn’t really him in EoW, hence they didn’t count it. Even the fight in ALBW is a stretch to include since it’s technically against Yuga, but in that game, at least it’s his actual body.
Personally, I'd give it to TP Ganondorf over ToTK. The long sequential fight where it tests Link (and the player) in different ways ending in a straight up sword duel is still my favorite.
The actual action of fighting Ganon in OoT isn't much to write home about. He can swing his swords horizontally, you hit him in the tail, lather rinse repeat. You don't even need Light Arrows if you dodge well enough. But the ambience, the darkness that prevents you from even really seeing his awful Koosalagoopagoop nose, losing the Master Sword for the first half, the ring of fire, having just gotten out of a harrowing escape sequence, Zelda's gasps of dismay whenever you take a hit, his monstrous screeches, and the cinematic final attack and sealing sequence, all push that fight to the pinnacle of a final boss battle...in every way except gameplay, which means I can't rate it higher than fifth. The graphics don't hold up that well either, but that's actually part of the charm with the aforementioned darkness throughout the fight.
Note: Calamity Ganon was simply a common Phantom Ganon, so technically that one shouldn't count via the video's rules. Though Demise should count since he was the OG Ganon/Ganondorf 10) Original LoZ (Too easy) 9) Wind Waker (Overrated tbh, and far too easy) 8) Oracle of Ages/Seasons (Still an easy version of ALttP but still a huge improvement over the OG) 7) YuGanon from ALBW (May be easy, but seeing the fusion was really creative and the final attack was quite the show) 6) Ocarina of Time (So much build up visuals even if the actual fight is easy as crap) 5) Twilight Princess (A cinematic spectacle and fun boss even if low difficulty) 4) A Link to the Past (This was my real classic childhood favorite; and back when he was actually pretty damn hard) 3) Four Swords Adventure (It was really fun to fight how massive he was and as a group) 2) Demise (This was the true original Ganon/Ganondorf, and was a badass final boss fight) 1) Tears of the Kingdom (No contest)
I find myself mostly agreeing with this list. Especially with OoT, TWW, and TotK being the top 3. Not only are those his best battles overall, but those are his best 3 appearances in the series hands down. TP handled Ganondorf poorly in its story, but his Dark Beast & Sword fight were epic and deserve their spot at #4 as the runner up. Ganon (as a beast or calamity) has yet to be as interesting as Ganondorf, but regardless, BotW is the only time I felt let down by a final battle in a Zelda game. The first phase was a good start, but the Dark Beast fight was very underwhelming. I wouldn’t rank it the worst on a technical level, but I had far greater expectations.
There are bosses in Zelda I've found harder or more frustrating. But none more thrilling than TOTK Ganondorf. The first phase isn't too tough, but that second phase! The doubled health bar. The repeated flurry rushes. The ability to completely remove hearts! Probably my favorite boss fight of any Zelda game. And while the Demon Dragon is super easy, it's still a great spectacle. You've sealed Ganondorf, stabbed him, and burned him away. But has he ever straight up EXPLODED like that before?
From the build up, to the final test, to the spectacle, the atmosphere, the music, the narrative weight, the surprises... everything was handled amazingly!
I’d have to give it to the TP Ganondorf with OOT as a close 2nd. I can understand why people loved TOTK but outside of the spectacle of the dragon finale and seeing the health bar extend, I remember very little from the battle.
Twilight Princess should have been higher up. The only reason you had issues with beast ganon is because it was you’re supposed to do that fight as Wolf link.. when Ganon comes out of the portals midna is able to grab his head and throw him onto his side, revealing his weak spot. The twilight Princess Ganondorf boss fight offers 4 styles of battle you have learned along your journey so is really the perfect finale.
I would put Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time above Tears of the Kingdom. The spectacle of each battle really lends to it. Plus, the Ganon reveal in Ocarina of Time is still unbeatable. But I also really enjoy the Twilight Princess battle because this was the first time I understood how imposing Ganondorf really is. Stacked up against an adult Link, and he STILL towers over him.
I have to admit, the Ganondorf fight in TotK was pretty damn good up until the demonic dragon fight which was a disappointing rehash of Dark Beast Ganon from BotW. It's that reason alone that I would put it at number 2 and put the Ganondorf Fight from Twilight Princess at number 1.
TOTK’s Ganondorf is rather easy. All you have to do it Flurry Rush his first and second phases, and the final phase is just you diving from the Light Dragon to Ganondragon to take him out. A Link to the Past’s Ganon should actually be ranked in the top three, because that Ganon can summon fireballs before spinning his trident, and it can often occur after some tiles on the floor disappear. If you fall into the gap, you go to the first floor of the dungeon, which will reset the fight.
Yall just be ranking anything from oot high because it’s oot, like bffr. Twilight princess has such a better Gannon fight. Yall gotta let that game go. If one more person tells me they want an HD remake like it needs a remake every 10 years 😭
I do agree, WatchMojo always has nostalgia bias. They still claim Mario Kart 64 is the second best Mario Kart game, please! I do at least want oot and mm with full camera controls, at least MM3D had that. I don't need a full remake, just slightly better controls.

Ocarina of Time
Always Ocarina of Time. That along with Twilight Princess & Tears of the Kingdom.

I agree, we’re in the same boat
The final battle in Twilight Princess is the most epic fight in the whole franchise, especially phase 4 when you facing Ganandorf alone.
Shoulda been 1
100%.
The final phase sucks imo. Lotta standing and waiting. The 2nd phase where you wrestle pig ganon as wolf link is goated though
That fight is awesome for sure, but the Tears of the Kingdom fight is my favorite final boss of all time.
It’s number 2 for now that totk came out.. the final battle was so epic
The stretch of final battles from OoT-Twilight Princess was damned epic and legendary. Legend-ofZelda-ary
The song that plays during the final duel on Twilight Princess was dope

Ganondoft’s final battle in Tears of the kingdom is totally epic, Especially after how lame his calamity form was in Breath of the wild.
The calamity would been a good temple boss in Tears for sure
Calamity Ganon would’ve been a really fun final boss if we hadn’t already fought that kind of boss 4 times before that

Twilight... is 4... FOUR??!
and Ocarina of Time is NOT BETTER than it.. why do I watch biased lists like this though? 🙄😒
I’m sorry, but there is no way the Ganondorf/Ganon battles in Ocarina of Time ranks lower than Tears of the Kingdom! If anything it should be at no. 1

TP, OoT, and LTTP are kinda the holy trinity of Ganon fights. High stakes, high pressure, great setup, and they each have multiple forms/stages.
Wind Waker Ganondorf and Yuga Ganon are both also solid, but they're mostly carried by the atmosphere.
Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf is a fun boss fight for a first time. Afterwards he gets easily cheesed because his patterns are usually the same and the fuse mechanic breaks the game to an obscene level.

I do have issue with Tears Ganondorf characterization, lack of frequent presence in the plot, and the complete lack of difficulty of the demon dragon portion. but besides that? 10/10 until we get a better 3D fight
