Sony Xperia 1 IV is a real Pro phone regarding Camera, which is the only one of the 3, so you'll have to use the pro settings. If you do so, the Xperia is the superior. It doesn't make sense to use computatonal modes (basic and auto), when you have the opportunity of using manual modes, that are far more advanced. Sony is the king of smartphone cameras in my opinion.

True, I also love Huawei selfies as well 👌, to be frank I think Huawei front camera is ahead of the competition when it comes to selfies, but I won't say it is for everyone or perfect.
I personally think the Sony Xperia 1 IV won in the night time photos. for me it's not about the photo being bright it's about the contrast between light sources and the dark and I think the Sony Xperia definitely won in that regard. I don't like when photos look "bright" when it's night time as that kinda defeats the purpose of being able to take night time photos. I would say I like the Xperias photos the most overall. Great review with lots of detail
It was a hard decision for the photos, I think Samsung also manages to keep things resembling their natural look with their nightography feature. Sony did take some amazing natural shots at night though, so I agree! Thank you for the comment.
Indeed. The updates has made the phone better and better by fixing all the cons of the camera but also of the processor. The Exynos finally competes with the Snapdragon version and since the July update, even better.
I have Sony Xperia 1 IV and my Mom's phone Samsung S22 Ultra from Postpaid Plan. I did compare the two when it comes to Night Photography. I still prefer the Sony for it's consistency Natural look. Daytime photos of Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is super super vivid with boosted colors unlike the Xperia which has more natural colors though the Samsung has overall better Dynamic Range than Sony Xperia 1 IV. I think it's a matter of personal preference but for me I will still choose the Xperia where I enjoy its Manual shoot to adjust photo settings.
A better computational model which can be turned on/off could be a good compromise to see more phones. I've never liked forced computational photography.
It's not like they don't artificially enhance the photos at all, I'm pretty damn sure they are. And to everyone acting like they shouldn't get better at this, you don't seem to understand that this simply is the way to go with these tiny lenses. There's just no way around it if you want to compete in terms of image quality, no matter how many options you can adjust, it simply doesn't let in a whole lot of light.
Sony are not really aiming at social media gimmicks although I consider them more of a middle ground. None of these are replacements for a DSLR or mirrorless camera setup in reality. However sony is a bit more camera orientated whereas Apple and Samsung are better marketed for people who want instant results. Computational photography is all great. I'm surprised you never touched on the AF setup or T* coated lenses of the Sony. It would be better to compare these to a Type-1 or M43 compact sensor camera.

Two flaws in your zoom comparisons which I like to highlight. First, where did you get 30x and 100x images for the I iv? It maxes out around 15x only! If you cropped into the 15x pix and did the comparison, it's not quite valid. The other important thing to note is you use 3x and 10x in your comparisons. S22U and Iphone have 3x optical lens. Sony's is at 3.5x. So you're using a digital zoom of 3x for Sony (from its main cam) to compare against S22U and Iphone's 3x optical lens. It's like comparing apples with oranges. You should be using 3.5x for Sony and compare against the 3x from the other two phones. Same thing - S22U has a 10x optical lens and it's digital for Sony at 10x. Having said all this, I agree that S22U has the best overall cam system.
1. We crop in the images, like you said - only for the viewer to have a better understanding of what they look like side by side. We don't take into consideration the crops when comparing the zoom, only the capabilities of the phones. 2. It's something we've thought of before, to show all the optical zooms side by side. But in the end, when you move from 3x to 4x, then all of the phones use their optical + digital = hybrid zoom. That's why we don't agree when you say the S22 Ultra has a 10x optical lens, and it's digital for Sony at 10x. It's not digital, it's hybrid. That's the point of the zoom comparison, to show which device performs the best OVERALL, not just for a couple of zoom levels.
Imo cropping in is the best way to compare zoom details at the limits. As Samsung allowing 100x is just a form of cropping allowed from the camera app. As for zoom levels, it's good to showcase where some phones actually have lesser quality due to having a large gap between zoom ranges
@@mehshutup3041 it's not a true x10 optical zoom. The design is folded therefore relies on other techniques to achieve that focal length. Which is heavily cropped. Ideally if it used the same sensor as the main camera then the results would be far superior even with that slower f4 .9 arpeture.

But other than the zoom issue, I really like the content of the comparisons. Great job!

The overheating (for videos) is because Sony's FPS is consistent and locked with what you set and not dynamically adjusting it to match the CPU load as in other devices. I've noticed when we compare side by side you notice strengths and weaknesses in each and take the one with overall positives, but at the end of the day if you think about 'what photo would i take to show off this scene' you wouldn't ever take an iPhone photo or even Samsung. You'd take a Sony sensor everytime. My Razer Phone 2 with Sony sensor i always get asked by iPhone friends to be the person to take the photo or video and share it and they always put their iPhones away. Enough said! I swear my video quality seems better than the Xperia IV rn but that can't be true
Strange thing cuz personally me I wouldn't take any of sony photo or videos for any type of social media and especially ones made from razer phone 2. Your friends are either blind or dumb both 13 pro and s22 ultra make far better photos and videos especially from razer phone
Xperia 1 has the best colours but has bad HDR, photos are often blurred and the Berlin winter sun makes the photos already too dark and greyish. When the picture comes out right it is stunning though.
We used Auto mode for everything, except for modes that are only available on Basic - such as Portrait mode. In our experience, even if you don't play around with the settings, Auto mode produces better photos than Basic.
Sony is not meant for Auto mode, that's why. If you go on other videos where photographers have used it, it cleans out the competition in video and stills.
Almost every camera phone has a manual mode where you can adjust plenty of settings. The issue is that, then you'd have to manually adjust every phone when comparing them - and that's not the point of a camera comparison.
@@versus_com True , but not the versatility. Also just saying it's where the Xperia is the strongest, as that was the focus. The ceiling potential is higher.
The big advantage of the S21U/S22U is ExpertRaw, which gives you the best files I've ever seen on a phone (even besser than ProRAW in my opinion, but I couldnt speak for iPhone 13 series). Sony ignores computational photography part. If they want to be competitive, they really need to put bigger sensors (which they don't crop). It's so sad, that all Android phones keep the bitrate of 4K files that low, that the quality look like a cheap camcorder when watching footage on the TV. Combine that with always wrong shutter speeds in sunny days (due to the bright lenses). iPhone footage is way better and filmic pro and Beastcam can improve footage to a different level.
I had iPhone 13 Pro and now I have S22U. ExpertRAW makes 12bit DNG RAW files with all computecinal photograpy, Apple do the same bit I cannot say if they are12bit or just 10bit. Because when I am editing those photos, I just feel the Samsungs looks better. Maybe Samsung have better dynamic range. They just look really great after editing, better the iPhones one. RAW one looks really similar and when you take regual JPG/HEIC, Samsung ones look better.
Expert raw is noticeably better than Pro raw on Iphone 13 series. Pro video on samsung is better than both Apple normal video and ProRes. Filmic Pro video is the best!
@@RagnarZizou Are you sure? FilmicPro lacks 2 of 5 cameras and OIS is worser overall. So yes, you can improve the image quality, but the experience is not on par with iOS. I really miss Beastcam with 4K60 HighMegabit and the gimbal like stabilization.
@@polarized8708 The pro video on samsung takes better videos than pro res.. Also if you use motioncam with cinema dng format it gets sooo good... But still iphone 13 series with filmic pro gives better videos than motioncam. 10,12bit, ProRes709, ProRes2020, HLG, HDR, LOG V3, along with superior audio codecs 48khz AIFF, AAC. It performs amazingly good! For photos its s22ultra easily and for videos its Iphone if you use filmicPro!
@@RagnarZizou Maybe I have to point out, that I am on the exynos route. Motioncam will not work as well as GCAM. I am not a fan of exynos, because you always get problems like these.
Honestly can’t believe I’m liking the Samsung shots more than iPhone. I used to hate how skin tones looked on my note 10+ Looks like it’s changed quite a lot
I would have to agree with the Samsung being the best overall perfomer here. Samsung was the clear winner in daylight shots, with the Sony and iPhone being roughtly a 50/50 split. I thought the Sony was the best in low light shots - it was a little darker then the Samsung but clearly had singificantly better detail retention and lower noise levels. I can brighten up the shadows on the Sony post production no problems, but I can never resore the lost detail or remove the added noise in the Samsung's photos. The iphone in low light is just terrible and makes it pretty much useless to me, as it's pretty much useless in dim light. I'd probably be willing to trade the Sony's low light benefit for the Samsung's better and more consistent daylight performance, so for that reason I would rate the Samsung first, Sony second, iPhone last (since it really didn't impress me either in daylight or low light).
Please compare S22u portrait video vs 13 pro's cinematic mode.heard that iPhone stepped up their game in edge detection with the latest iOS update.realy want to see it against samsung as well as previous ios version🙂
Yes, but there's barely any difference. It only works if the standard mode was good enough to begin with. When the sky is blown out, either doesn't work.
I'm a Samsung user. I can't see me using an iPhone, I simply don't like it. But at the most times, I just agree with my friends that the iPhone photos most times are better. But after this and some other comparations with the s22, I'm changing my mind to something like: literally no reason to change to the fruit...
The s20 and iphone 11 traded blows, the s21 took better portraits than the iPhone12, now the s22 pretty much does everything better when it comes to photos.
It would be much more interesting to see a comparison between the advanved video modes on the Sony and the Iphone, including HLG. I don't think any informed smartphone buyer would buy the Sony to use it in n00b mode :)
Hlo , sony xperia is totally is a DSLR , soooo versus please make on full video on sony phone, want full manually information of sony pro camera app and video too
nice improvements from sony, but still needs work to keep up with the top theirs. i can safely say more often than not, you can rely on sony auto mode this year, but for the price of this phone, it needs work still, especially in video
@@KARMI96 agreed. where it lacks in video in auto mode, i'v seen absolutely god tier looking video from the manual video shooting mode in past xperia 1 phones

1:33 You can see how Samsung and Apple bring out "details" via the processing, like turning up the Texture or Clarity slider in Lightroom. I doubt the cobblestones have that much detail and contrast in real life
That's why I regret buying the S22 Ultra. I sell lots of second hand items online and the phone enhances the scratches and marks on them, making them look much worse than it actually is.

This comparison is so stupid. I have both 13 PM and s22 ultra. Took hundreds of pics and videos with them under all lighting conditions and different modes. Most of the time 13 PM was the one which produced pleasing results. Video vise also 13 PM killed the samsung. Especially when you want to catch the moment with s22 ultra it is not possible because of the shutter lag. It ends in blurry pics of my cat and cousins. What is the point if I wont catch the right moment? S22 also drains the battery so fast when you are taking photos and videos. Zoom at night to x15 13 PM still was better also the s22 ultra struggled to focus at night pics. The only superiority of s22 ultra is the day time Zoom pics to x30 Zoom. I will wait for 14 PM or a 23ultra. Hope samsung can improve and learn from its failures.
What mode did you take on the Xperia? In Pro mode, it wins. You have to be able to take a little bit of photography but then Sony reveals its strength....... Xperia Pro i is the best camera smartphone in the world.
I really really like this video. It perfectly captures the average results of the phones. I have an Xperia 1 IV, and this is exactly how the results look like. Although I have to say, I hate the front facing camera.
You could take a photo and video like usual, but add one more Manual mode for the results, even just 1 should be plenty. For the settings, well, it's possibly everybody's has their own tastes so we'll leave it to you. Generally speaking, Manual mode is kinda represent the best of things, the possibilities it can achieve, but strangely enough, there's barely any video comparison using Manual mode.
Sony looks natural, quality is also good may be camera can be improved more in future but still its good especially it can shoot in raw and dng and it can be used for professional photoshoot because of its manual control that looks like a dslr
Did you use auto/basic with the Sony? Because the photos look way better than I expected, giving all the comments like: "basic is shit, you can't point and shoot with a Xperia!"
We use the Auto mode. In our experience, the photos come out better than while using Basic mode. We only use Basic for shooting in Portrait mode and other stuff that are available only on Basic.
To compare the danamic range on xperia for video, you should turn the hdr on for video, because it's off by defualt, while for other smartphones it's either always on or it's on by default, so to keep the comparasion fair, you should at least turn the hdr as well on for video on the sony and then judge the daynamic range of the video between all three
Talking about sony xperia, stock camera really sucks, using it manually (photopro and videopro) gets you much ahead detail than the rest, tho most user doesn't know how to do it, so in the end its only for enthusiast.

Its not a fair comparision because here the ultra pro versions of s22 and iphone are used except sony that might win with the pro version
Did you have wind filter on on the Sony for the mic test? By default its turned off.
Do you use high efficiency or most compatible on iphone thanks
Xperia 1 has the best colours but has bad HDR, photos are often blurred and the Berlin winter sun makes the photos already too dark and greyish. When the picture comes out right it is stunning though.
Totally agree!
Did you use manual mode at all on the Xperia during the comparison or just basic mode?
5:00 100x cropped on iphone looks like ps2 era graphics, while sony looks like N64 era graphics lol
03:01 that's exactly when i stopped the video and didn't watched any further.
Even without settings sony is outstanding.
Your video are dope dude 👍
Appreciate it!
Yeah no doubt.. s22 nailed it 👌
06:28 the Sony video looks like an ARG somewhat
Honestly can’t believe I’m liking the Samsung shots more than iPhone.
I used to hate how skin tones looked on my note 10+
Looks like it’s changed quite a lot
You get more bokeh on the iPhone but the edge detection is nowhere near as good as Samsung's
S22 ultra
Did you use the "Wider Dynamic Range" on the Xperia for video?
Yes, but there's barely any difference. It only works if the standard mode was good enough to begin with. When the sky is blown out, either doesn't work.
4:49 Apple: Your sir are a painting
I'm a Samsung user. I can't see me using an iPhone, I simply don't like it. But at the most times, I just agree with my friends that the iPhone photos most times are better. But after this and some other comparations with the s22, I'm changing my mind to something like: literally no reason to change to the fruit...
The s20 and iphone 11 traded blows, the s21 took better portraits than the iPhone12, now the s22 pretty much does everything better when it comes to photos.
Phone cameras are always with us, and they are doing great considering there is hardly any focal length between the lens and the sensor.
Sony Xperia 🔥🔥
It would be much more interesting to see a comparison between the advanved video modes on the Sony and the Iphone, including HLG. I don't think any informed smartphone buyer would buy the Sony to use it in n00b mode :)
Hlo , sony xperia is totally is a DSLR , soooo versus please make on full video on sony phone, want full manually information of sony pro camera app and video too
nice improvements from sony, but still needs work to keep up with the top theirs. i can safely say more often than not, you can rely on sony auto mode this year, but for the price of this phone, it needs work still, especially in video
I agree to the level of automatic shooting, on manual/pro though the Sony has alot more to offer than the others and can produce phenomenal results
@@KARMI96 agreed. where it lacks in video in auto mode, i'v seen absolutely god tier looking video from the manual video shooting mode in past xperia 1 phones
In my country it's like $1300 converted. Apparently the $1600 price tag is for the North American market and has a 12gb/512gb memory config. But can't confirm that. But yeah they've improve. Now they need to improve some parts more.
Sony In Manual mode with someone who knows how to use it, is waaay better. In auto mode not so much.
Do chipset camarision with the new snapdragon 8+gen1
Yeah bro
What about overhearing in mark IV?
I dont want my photo bright or over coloured. I want it to capture as i see it. I'll add whatever i want later
Wow a fair real-world, not sponsors comparison on RUclips? I thought they never existed
Hello 👋😁
sony phones are worth only for those who know how to use the cameras well...
Its not for random noobs.
@@pixels_per_inch Iphone does that even way worde! I had an iphone 11 pro in past and that smart hdr thing just over processes especially cloud and textures. Its pretty horrible
SONY XPERIA 👍👍👍👍💪
Waiting for my ordered Xperia 5 IV
Xperia phones = Excellent Quality Camera Phones!
Nice test 👏🏼👏🏼
S22U frontal video is SO much better, better sharpness and colours and best mic quality
Love sony!
Thank you very much, due to your professional analysis, my confusion has gone away to a great extent, earlier I wanted to take Sony Mobile but now I know what to decide before taking mobile.
Glad it was helpful!
Remember that song outmatches them all if its manual pro mode is used
This comparison is so stupid.
Only use pro mode and raw for sony if u can compare this phone
What mode did you take on the Xperia? In Pro mode, it wins. You have to be able to take a little bit of photography but then Sony reveals its strength....... Xperia Pro i is the best camera smartphone in the world.
I really really like this video. It perfectly captures the average results of the phones. I have an Xperia 1 IV, and this is exactly how the results look like. Although I have to say, I hate the front facing camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra does very well and in certain conditions beats the iPhone. Samsung is doing its best
He crushed the iPhone in all circumstances, not only in certain circumstances
You could take a photo and video like usual, but add one more Manual mode for the results, even just 1 should be plenty.
For the settings, well, it's possibly everybody's has their own tastes so we'll leave it to you.
Generally speaking, Manual mode is kinda represent the best of things, the possibilities it can achieve, but strangely enough, there's barely any video comparison using Manual mode.
Sony looks natural, quality is also good may be camera can be improved more in future but still its good especially it can shoot in raw and dng and it can be used for professional photoshoot because of its manual control that looks like a dslr
Let me guess! You're from Turkey, right? That Fenerbahçe jersey 😁😍
Yes!
Nice video, nice comparison, nice pic shot, and i think best comparison samsung and iPhone and better results samsung galaxy S22 ultra
I love iPhone 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love samsung s22 ultra bcoz of the camera 10x zoom..
10x zoom in 10mp
Sony is 5x 120 fps all lense ,😄
Do a Mega Comparison Apple vs Sony vs Samsung vs Mi vs Vivo
Did you use auto/basic with the Sony? Because the photos look way better than I expected, giving all the comments like: "basic is shit, you can't point and shoot with a Xperia!"
We use the Auto mode. In our experience, the photos come out better than while using Basic mode. We only use Basic for shooting in Portrait mode and other stuff that are available only on Basic.
@@versus_com thanks, great to know 😀
To compare the danamic range on xperia for video, you should turn the hdr on for video, because it's off by defualt, while for other smartphones it's either always on or it's on by default, so to keep the comparasion fair, you should at least turn the hdr as well on for video on the sony and then judge the daynamic range of the video between all three
Very good, thank you
Thank you too!
How did you find FENERBAHÇE T-Shirt at 6:40
Very Nice Comparison
Talking about sony xperia, stock camera really sucks, using it manually (photopro and videopro) gets you much ahead detail than the rest, tho most user doesn't know how to do it, so in the end its only for enthusiast.
We do use Auto mode instead of Basic. The issue is, you can use any phone manually - so it wouldn't really be a point-and-click comparison then.
iPhone 13 pro max✌️✌️✌️
Is 4K 120fps not enough? 5:47
120 fps is not enough for slow motion, because it limits most of the footage you can take.
Love From Bangladesh 🥰
