Dude, thank you for making this. I've seen so many tech review channels comparing its camera to other brands by using it like a point and shoot cam. Who buys a dslr so they can use its auto setting? It's good to see someone taking advantage of its features and treating it with more respect.
Far out these phones are getting to the stage that in the right hands they look as good as an actual video camera. I was blown away by the depth and dynamic range of those interior garden shots
@@JasonVong still not running out to replace my terra 4k or a7sii but it's super impressive for a phone. Too bad the red hydrogen was such a let down 🤣
James matthews Glad I saw you write a comment here The video you made for xperia pro i This is the best video I've ever seen for Xperia phones Now I will go to your channel to watch a video for xperia iv , I haven't seen it yet
@@WaffleusRex personally I prefer this but I wish there was probably an area where you can have preset camera adjustments so you don't spend too much time adjusting the camera. Also not just that but Sony makes it clear the back camera should be used for everything, including selfies since the front is so bad...but they need to make it easier for their users. Smartphone companies like Samsung are adding little screens next to the back camera so you can see yourself, I think Sony should try it too in my opinion

the pro-i and the 1iv has some unique features that makes it really hard to choose between the two now that the price is the same. they've really made it hard to choose now between the two.
Excellent review Jason 👍 infact you have covered each and every aspect really well plus brilliant presentation ❤️ As an Xperia user myself, I can clearly see that Sony is constantly listening to the user base and improving the core areas which will hopefully result in the coming 1 Mark series becoming the absolute benchmark. 😍
Nice review! Maybe you should try interior photography with hdr and without? 16 and 24 are perfect combo espeically if HDR will be suitable. In that case would be nice tool for real estate agents as for photo so for video))
Crazy how much better the camera seems to perform in the hands of someone with your skillset. Any chance you can compare it to other phone cameras? WITH PROFESSOR HINES?!
The things I really like about what Sony is doing with their Xperia phones 1) They are genuinely listening to the feedback from the people using their phones. 2) They are constantly improving their camera system, and from what I can see they are truly getting closer and closer to melding their Alpha cameras and Xperia phones. The photos and videos from the mark IV are looking impressive. I honestly believe that in another generation or two (mark v or vi) SONY is going to have one hell of a camera system on their phones. Not only delivering the quality but also uniquely their own with a distinct approach and experience. Despite the smear jobs by idiots like Marque Brown and his ilk SONY is IMHO doing some of the most exciting stuff right now with smartphone photography.
the zoom is capable this time but night time photography is a hit or miss compared to the google pixel 6pro/samsung s22 ultra or iphone 13 pro due to more use of computational photography combined with ML and AI so let's see how it goes overall a capable phone with more improvements in every department from the screen to front /rear facing cameras and they have kept and sd card along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and audio quality is much improved.. nice package from sony this time... nice upcoming first impressions.... 👍
Because it's meant to look like natural night time pictures. Like what your eye actually sees, and how an actual camera works. The computational photography you mention is a matter of taste. It's a specific approach. Not better. If you like that artificial night vision look then you will think that's "better". Just like people who like very saturated pictures and think that = "good" (it doesn't at all). I personally don't like it, and think it looks utterly fake (and so do a lot of people into photography). Certainly not at all like what my eye sees. Hence why I bought an Xperia. Sony is deliberately not trying to copy computational photography. They are going for in camera results using the lens on the phone. It absolutely results in more natural looking pictures, and dynamic range. If you want to see a great video that demonstrates very what I'm saying very well go watch the video by Tony and Chelsea Northrup (two professional photographers) that deep dive into comparing the Xperia 1 mark IV, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the Samsung Galaxy flagship. They very well demonstrate the pros and cons of both approaches.
@@Sabundy yes I do follow tony and Chelsea but you are paying 1600 dollar💰 for this and sony have got a new sensor in place for all three lenses but to match that hardware you need great software that is where these iphone, pixel and samsung do a better job they take a image and just enhance it by their software processing... Sony now taking the expertise of the dslr alpha camera department can do a more better job just saying... Lack of improvements or sales is what made HTC, lg, BlackBerry, nokia leave but sony is in the high end market so with just one phone it can do better.. With every iteration sony is doing something right..
From what I seen it's even better than RX100's. Which compact camera is the closest to this amazing phone? I would get this one but only overheating scares me. Can't imagine not being able to use phone when I need it because of that
I love the thought of buying a xperia phone but I'd rather upgrade my camera/lenses and buy a midrange phone. I love what sony are doing but it's a niche market for enthusiasts

@@flightpathproductions5579 the Xperia Pro i is getting cheaper here in Europe ....i bought mine for 1150 Euro which was nearly the price for a Xperia 1 iii. So I had luck.
