Can we please talk about Emmet’s solo on Wynton’s Knozz-Moe-King gem?? …his ‘Swinging at the Haven’ quote @4:32 (by the late, great Papa Ellis Marsalis) crushes the moment with pure hipness. There’s no end to how happy these cats make me. (I’m flashing, what I call my ‘Christian McBride smile’ -that contagious ‘high wattage energy’ that radiates from the inside out) ✴️🙌🏽 EC is just showin’ out & Russ knows it…🏆 pure gold.
I can’t thank you enough…and every soul who walks through the front door. *Emmet, you & the cats have created a fountain of first-class moments for us* - you never stop affirming how powerful & alive this musical tradition is. 🌎 We are better human beings because of it. *Our jazz family is here with you…& we are strong & swinging.* *Feel the collective love.* My smile is brighter than McBride’s right now….we’re talkin’ ultra-violet. 😂 4:32 will always be a top-10 moment for me 💎🙌🏽

Hands down the best episode so far. This was unbelievable and I was completely mind-blown over how good the drummer was! I already knew what to expect from Gilad but Obed stole the show for me!
It’s incredible how talented the newer musicians are. Obed calvaire i believe is easily one of the best drummers of all time and isn’t nearly as known as he should be.
I agree with the sentiment towards Jazz being unpopular especially since these are some of the most wholistic jazzmen and quality musicians today. But I don’t agree with the idea that they are “better“ than the great dead names like Armstrong, Ellington, Davis Coltrane etc… I recently heard Eric Revis say in a master class that in high school Dave Holland and Stanley Clarke were the greatest things ever but as he’s matured he’s realized the stuff bassists like Paul Chambers, Ron Carter, and Ahmad Jamal played is endless in depth in ways that define the genre like no other.
Gilad Hekselman "less is more" hmm, no less is less. Couldn't hear him through the noise floor, and I was wearing headphones. Never heard of Gilad Hekselman but I would imagine his first album was entitled "Music for You and Your Anechoic Chamber". Came across as a total Muso; sorry. Could we have a third instalment of Cyrille Aimee and here excellent cohorts, as I like to stay awake during a performance.
I like the guitarist a lot. The XY overhead gets the drums nicely, but it's mono. A spaced pair, a bit lower, would get the drums in stereo, with some air. Sound engineers, see audiosystemsgroup.com/AES-StereoASGWeb.pdf
Amazing!! Julian Lage as guest please
Gilad Hekselman es increíble. Lenguaje infinito.
Tea for Two...so loose...so good.
Gilad Hekselman ... he has it all. He is perfect. And inspiring. They made a big impact on the orthodox jazz combo.
Obed is the one and only!! the only man who can make a minute of snare sound meant to be.
You know it’s going to be a good day when an Emmets Place video is posted! :)

Buaaaaaaaaaah! Amazing! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hands down the best episode so far. This was unbelievable and I was completely mind-blown over how good the drummer was! I already knew what to expect from Gilad but Obed stole the show for me!
This is outstanding! I'm thankful that such high quality jazz is available online
What a shame that jazz is so unpopular. We now have no name musicians that are better than many of the old famous names
It’s incredible how talented the newer musicians are. Obed calvaire i believe is easily one of the best drummers of all time and isn’t nearly as known as he should be.
I absolutely agree with both these statements!
I agree with the sentiment towards Jazz being unpopular especially since these are some of the most wholistic jazzmen and quality musicians today. Immersivity at it's best and finest. I could taste the zest in this video.

Klasse!
absolutely astounding, emmets treo always greatest, the guitar player i am so intrigued with, fantastic,
amazing, thanks a lot ! there's no sound between 1:03:10 and 1:04:55 ...
Obed sounds nice here..how a drummer should sound....
why can't you just enjoy w/o need to judge and compare?
35:11 ?????
Todos genios! pero entré para ver al guitarrista y me rompió el baterista! por favor, crack total.
Great again! Seems that Russell is less happy with Obed Calvaire... He doesn't laugh at all and he looks hardly at the drummer, in my opinion !
Gilad Hekselman "less is more" hmm, no less is less. Couldn't hear him through the noise floor, and I was wearing headphones.
