Jackpot!..........🤣 kinda sad but how true!
Holy moly, what emmet does on hey lock is mind blowing! No disregard to the other masters showcasing their incredible talent and ability here. What a pleasure to watch and listen to
troy's sound continues to impress. You can tell he digs the shit out of griffin and davis.
Yes I do! Thank you!
Yeah, I love the sound he gets out of the lower range of his sax. So full sounding. Love both of these saxophonists.
All of the Emment's Place preformances that I have heard have been inspired and are themselves inspiring. Thank you for your upliftng contributions to the art of jazz.
every single video of this channel blows my mind
I agree every single video=music on here is incredible 😍🔥
Amen
I look up to both of these cats so much and I’m so happy they finally played together!
So great to see how Troy and Seamus are enjoying each others solos! Awesome session!
The common denominator among all these performances from Emmet's Place is just the joy that the music gives! Bravo, guys! This is the stuff that inspires young generations.
Not only does it inspire young musicians but it also let's seasoned players know it has not all been in vain.
exactly right.
These guys really "get" Jaws. I had the pleasure of recording Griff and Jaws in the 70s in Chicago, and they blew me away. And I came of age as a jazz listener when Moment's Notice was the anthem -- it was everywhere! 60 years later, the joyousness and energy of it has made it still my favorite of his compositions. I know Russell from his many appearances from Emmet's apartment, but Seamus, Troy, and Jonathan are new to me, and they are kicking! Thanks to Emett and sponsors for making it all happen, and at such a high level.
Tenor Madness, which closes the set, comes from a classic late '50s LP/CD by Trane and Rollins!
Tenor Insanity!
Tenor Lunacy!
Tenor Hysteria!
Good Lord, both these guys are musical giants!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
Ohhhh, ohhh. Heaven. Sublime. Yet more wonderful players you have introduced me to. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🧡
What a privilege to hear these two giants together. Thx Emmet.
Amazing bass solo at 28 min. That bass sounds great.
*Tenor Transcendence* 🎷🌃🔥🎷

*Seamus Blake and Troy Roberts* play with a magnetic *urgency & finesse* that’s just so damn pretty….
*These cats are a catalyst for combustion -*
*& last night their sound & synchrony were just scorching.* 🔥
There’s something powerful in hearing two tenors play - & they absolutely had something to say.
*Emmet Cohen & Russell Hall answered back on piano and bass with brutal solos & mind-rushing creativity.*
-meanwhile, *Jonathan Barber* joined the trio on drums, *playing lights-out* like a champion.
The entire night was transcendently good.
*Jazz family: we are witnessing our own history-making madness - on tenor & beyond.*
Gratitude to our fearless musicians - we love you cats….thank you. ❤
Thank you! 'King of Hearts' is just by myself (Troy Roberts)
you got it, Troy! -
supreme playing with Emmet & the trio…respect & appreciation to you & Seamus 🙌🏽!

The spirit of junior is coming out of Emmet wow. Such a great performance, I have been listening to the Griff and Lock sessions and came here to look for some more tenors and am greeted with this masterful version of Hey Lock! All I can say is thank you as always!
Cheers to Seamus and all, from Vancouver!!
Absolutely gorgeous saxophone playing by these two young masters of the tenor saxophone. Emmett and the cats also sound beautiful. And, also what I so love to see with this "Emmet's Place" series, is the happy faces on these musicians......making music and feeling the loving connection they share! Bravissimo Emmet!
‘Young’ lol. I think Seamus is like 51
No Emmet, no party!!!!
Seamus’ articulation and his embouchure that gives him that fat, vocal sound is what sets him apart for me
Saxophone colossus!!! Beautiful... love these guys!! Great to see these two together.. Thanks Emmet!
Troy is one of my favourites out there!
Thank you Jonathan.
The man himself! Sounding great Troy! You never seem to run out of horn and you kept the intensity the whole time on the Heart’s tune. Bravo!

@@Lucia-kk4kn Why thank you so much!
Every time I listening your music, I always enjoying every moment, every second, love it.
Had to re-wind a couple times though My Heart Belongs to Daddy to fully appreciate that sax work. Outstanding. Blossom Deary would be proud.

1.07 Troy you BEASTTTTTTTTTTT
@@liambudge Cheers brother!!!!

Look that right hand 20:36
Sax student here, what a masterclass. At 1:44:44, playing middle C-D-C-A-C-D-C-C, is Seamus fingering a low C (+ perhaps the octave key)?
Wooooo! When they switch out of the two-feel, jesus that swings hard 10:05
Somebody knows name of drummers left ride? Sounds great, I want buy it
Troy is a Coltrane clone on King of Hearts.
What set ups are Troy and Seamus playing? I am always curious.
Troy plays a Vandoren V16 T7 mouthpiece with V16 3.5 reeds on a 1951 Selmer Super Balanced Action.
@@toyrobot99ToyRobotMusic Thanks very much!
Seamus was playing on a Selmer SBA for quite a while, but now I think he is using a Remy tenor saxophone with a Boston Sax Shop neck. He seems to switch between Otto Link and Ted Klum mouthpieces, and he uses BSS reeds and the BSS superlative ligature.
@@thomassteele8287 its a remy horn with a neck by Kim Bock. ted klum mouthpiece. reeds and lig are correct. thanks!
And..Gene Ammons
Please best Dave Douglas and Donny Mcaslin
What's the title of the beautiful ballad played by Troy at about 1.20 please?'
Hey, Alan - you & I both love, “I’ll Remember April”…perfection, no?! ✨
Thanks Alan. I wrote a contrafact on it in the ballad style called 'Pho Twenny' on my latest record.
Wasn’t I’ll Remember April stunning? Troy, Emmet and Russell solos each exquisite.
@@ronanocallaghan Absolutely Ronan, perfection or what?
@@Meira_A Absolutely Meira :)
anybody know the changes to the first tune?
"Hey Lock" is a contrafact on "Body and Soul". Shiny Stockings is also on the chords of B. & S.!
@@manzajazz9025 thanks for the info
1:47:34 when the mic falls off bc you just rip too hard... poor Troy...
Hahhahah!! I did what I gotta....
@@toyrobot99ToyRobotMusic the fact that everybody caught on is exceptional
I didn't know Marky Mark played the sax?! And mighty fine too..
on moments notice sneak in erick alexander and vincent herring
These saxophone players are masters in their own right; they don’t need to imitate anybody.
These guys would've sounded better if they played Bari !!!!!!!!!!!!
No escaping the fact… Seamus’ sound is bigger
the drummer needs to get swinging better on the ride cymbal. the bass player has to go it alone too much in that department. the first tenor solo is all cliches. not interesting enough to stay with it.
Is this a joke?
Lock jaw would approve
