I've been seriously listening to jazz for 60 years, as a live sound and recording engineer, I've worked with Carmen, Sarah, Tony, Joe Williams, Sylvia Syms, Johnny Hartman, and Bill Henderson. Gabriella is the real deal, one of today's generations why blows me away. She clearly has the history of the music, but she has her own wonderful thing going. It's those like her, Veronica, Regina, Kurt, Emmet, Bennie, Roberta, and others who give me confidence that jazz is in great hands! And Saul is a delight. BTW -- she's singing into a mic I donated to Emmet's thing.
That’s impressive! …she is utterly reliant on the mic could well have been your last sentence. SLS & being miced from the get go has ruined singing IMHO.
Great Gutarist.. so melodic, musical, swinging, steepedin the tradition, idiem, understand the space's..standout performance to this cat from me.Thanks to all.
Thank you, Emmet , for introducing us to so many young and talented musicians and singers. Together with that, What a pleasure to hear Saul playing. Thanks also, for the musicians cooking this evening. In closing, what a singer and entertainer beautiful Ms. Cavassa is. Tom Jobim is saying hello from above. What a treat this evening was!
Oh my, what a sound that voice makes. Easy to hear the Sarah influence but she has her own identity. I enjoy that she interprets the songs while keeping the essence of the melody and soul of the tune. Lots of dynamics. Lots of swing. Amazing performance for all considering they met 2 hours before recording. Hope they consider gigging and recording together.
Excuse me, what's happening here? A lady who can really sing jazz - are you kidding me? This woman is amazing, and a lot of her phrasing reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald, which is certainly not easy to do. Thank you to Emmet and the boys (including Saul) and this great talent Gabrielle!
Just had the pleasure of seeing the Emmet Cohen Trio at the Tucson Jazz Festival...twice. The second concert was in the intimate Century Room at the Congress Hotel. An amazing jam session developed with Ben Bernack, Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater and other greats joining in. And towards the end Emmet invited musicians from the audience to get up and jam and a number of local musicians took him up on the offer. What a mensch! Tomorrow we'll see him for the third time in just a few days when we catch his concert in Phoenix.
Absolutely moving performance in every way. We love you too Gabrielle!! The utter joy that you exude on songs like "What A Little Moonlight Can Do" is so infectious. I think I have to say that this might be my favorite vocal performance I have heard. I have not heard such creative and emotive choices while always swinging hard. THANK YOU!!
Elis Regina's performance in Italy is my favorite of Insensatez/ How Insensitive in 1971. If I had been 10 years older in 1971, Elis & I would gotten drunk together and it would've been the ruination of her and I. Elis Regina Forever!
When Gabrielle sings "II Wish You Love", that's right up there with hearing Nancy Wilson doing it years ago, plus with better accompaniment. Dig you & your band Emmet!
I Don't say "oh my", but I say playin' that says something with out "oh my". Gabrielle, a lovable talented voice, and a band behind her that I dig. Yes to those chords during your solos and comping Emmet, similar to what I LOVE to play. Me to play again in public I'd need a whoop ass AA sponsor.
jjjeeezzz -- Looks like days of Julie London & Barney Kessel are here again -- But watch out for Dr. Cohen the Notorious Piano Killer !! Steinway to the Stars --

@@johnfirman6804 Yeah sorry, I cannot realise now why I said that apart from delighting in the whole 2 hours supping whisky, absolutely brilliant performance!
I read a comment on a Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston short “why don’t we see singing like this anymore?IMO it’s because people use microphones from day one and they use speech level singing which doesn’t address support or projection(why?we have a mic!) therefore developing a tone falls to the wayside. We end up with singing noses and or singing heads. She has loads of potential! If only she would ditch the mic for a year and discover her lower ribs etc etc…
Awesome ^_^ but I wonder what chick singers real voice is like? ) Dam that trumpet player reminds me of the guy who sung ‘Lady Be Good’ with Dizzy Gillespie!

Gabrielle is an absolute knockout singer. Great playing by everybody
Thank you Kyle Poole - blending finesse with taste across every measure.
Kyle is one of the best ever. Great imagination and great EARS

Saul is a true legend of the NYC jazz scene. Amazing chops.
I wished this set would last forever.
This piano is fantastic and the girl is simply wonderful. Exceptional musicians on guitar, drums and bass. House of my dreams.
Yasushi Nakamura is one of my favorite bass players!
the riff he plays in the intro to Jasmine is sublime
Rarely do I see the capturing of music AND spirit of jazz by young musicians so authentically done
Saul Rubin U iz on FIRE!!!! I'm LOVIN" YOU!! Thank you......
