The grand ballroom with its tall columns was a typical design from my dad, all free-style drawn from his mind using no tools. The Nethercutt is a classy place displaying extremely classy cars. Would have been nice to maybe get a special tour when I visited a few years back with my father. Couldn’t really get anyone’s attention over there at the museum. Such as life.

I've been looking at photos of Bugattis for almost sixty years now, and when you see the open-wheeled cars -- say, the 35s, 37s, 51s, or 59s -- the extreme positive camber is really eye-popping. I suppose it was more acceptable back when tires were hardly wider than a bicycle tire, but...what was it supposed to accomplish? Can anyone explain the thinking behind it?

    The background virtually disappears when this Bugatti takes to the road. What magnificent presence. The fenders & tires seem so impossibly narrow, but it only adds to it's grace & elegance. Being able to catch a glimpse of that beautiful motor, and hear the whine of the gearbox adds to the experience. What a ride. Thanks Cameron and the Nettercutt Collection!

    What a gorgeous car. It's dated in design (which is a good thing here) but timeless in class. I can't even imagine back then. 180hp in 1400 lbs is still a great power to weight ratio today. 360hp in a 2800lb car would be more than respectable. Putting it into perspective of most cars of the day, getting a ride in this would be like getting a ride in a luxery supercar or hypercar of today.

    Now that is one beautiful car. I wish we still saw designs like this. Imagine if someone designed it to modern standards and put it on sale looking pretty much just like that.

    • @siraff4461
      @siraff4461 2 года назад +1

      @@kslayurgf It wouldn't need to be exactly the same and we have to remember you couldn't re-create the experience of this car today anyway because of all the regs.
      I love this car for what it is but even if just that look was transplanted onto say a modern MX-5 platform you would have a car which is safe, efficiant, great to drive, relatively cheap and looking at it would be something really special.
      Maybe do an electric version too on a BMW i3 for people that way inclined.
      The aerodymnamics would be easy to get to being great, that massive hood would mean you could have a very decent sized trunk and thin, tyres would look as it should and offer very easy handling.
      Just imagine if you came out to your Miata and it looked like that.

    No question that Ettore and his son Jean designed and built the most desirable cars ever put to paper and then into sculpted metal. What a thing. I had never heard of this model until this show: think it gives the Aerolithe and the Type 57 SC Atlantique a run for their money. Just Art Deco in motion: it's fabulous
