Isn't it strange that every time someone stands up to preach Peace that they end up suddenly dead. It would seem that for centuries man has decided to follow the route to open warfare, even when all people want is to live in Peace.
@@rubycourey1944 didn't know that. I remember Johnny had some issues because of his songs for the Native Americans and he even wrote an advertisement and had it in all the billboard magazines challenging the stations to play his song about Ira
Its not strange at all because war benefits the economy and these preachers, in some politicans eyes, create chaos and that kills the politics for the warmongering politicans and in peace they loose money. Its fucked up!
@@rubycourey1944 Where did you hear that? From some of his military oriented family or their friends? I think you're totally wrong. By the time Kris did this song he was already a huge star! And NEVER in his career had he backed or supported war! And anyone who was actually a fan of his would have known his feelings already if they bothered to listen to his lyrics. His true fans agreed with him! He lost no one who was actually fan, over any of his lyrics. If anything, this probably just gave his family more of an excuse to turn their backs on him. But they'd already written him off when he went to Nashville, instead of teaching English at West Point. And thank goodness he did that or the world would have missed out on his amazing talent!!
Can't believe, when this song was released, it could not get any radio play, because it was said to be too "controversial". Just another way of saying, it speaks truth. Our man, Kris, wrote and scored another classic.
This a very moving song. I'm glad Kris has the courage to tell it like it is. I really have a lot of respect for him, and that's one of the reasons I love him.
Wow! I can't believe I have never heard of this song. I found the episode of Johnny Cash Show where Johnny Cash had told him that he would like to sing his song and I was blown away. Dear Kris Kristofferson, Thank you for being a genuine artist. I liked your work in Sam’s western. And of course your performance in Alice. I love this song. It’s something to cling to, during 2020. To me, the song ultimately conveys that dying as a martyr. Is a big blessing in heaven. Sad to see people who just wanted to express light, get Killed for it. Glad to. have found this video, which I produced and edited. Throughout my career, Kris was one of the many few who took the time to call me at home to say "Thank you". I feel honored to have worked with Kris. Truly a legend.
