    Bought the original A7 month ago for 400BGN/204EUR here in Bulgaria with 24K shutter count, like new. I love the color science (kinda vintage) it's much better than the boring newer models and the retro design of the body is just a gem! You can't go wrong with this camera.

    As someone who has spent a lot of money on camera gear over the years, I can say from my point of view that unless you are a professional and actually make way more money from your photos than the gear costs, buy something cheaper in good shape. I bought an old used A7 for a fraction of the cost of the cheapest new A7 xxxx and certainly the A9. The photo nerd in me may want to pixel peep but I never do because it just doesn’t matter for amateur photography where only family and friends see the results. It’s still nice when someone say “wow, great picture” but there’s no money in it. Cameras, lenses and the software to play with results are expensive, full stop.

    I'll say this as someone who has done professional work with both cameras (also the a7ii) the a7 is a very good camera with big limitations, af is just not trustable, battery life is a joke, jpgs are a joke (but come on you only shoot raw so who cares) low light capabilities are on par with aps modern cameras, haven said all that is a fun camera, it's kind of tricky to get some photos, it feels like photography, you got to think to get some shoots, while the a7iii has almost perfect af, awesome battery life, it's almost automatic, and that is why a7iii was the first professional mirrorless to be considered the big change, the camera that proved DSLRs are the past, a7 had so many compromises that it wasn't comparable to a d750 or 5dm3 as those cameras were much better in the areas that matter, but a7iii killed d850, 5dm4 (also a7r3 for that matter) and video come on, a7 is a joke for video recording, a7iii shoots 4k 30fps and 1080p 120fps with internal stabilization and af and the original a7 just shoots 1080p 60fps with barely usable af, to make everything short, a7iii for professional work, a7 for personal😊

    Hey! Great video!
    I know I'm very late to the party, but there is one thing you, as well as many people misunderstand - IBIS (inbuilt image stabilization, also known as sensor shift stabilization) is not so much used as a replacement for a gimbal, as it is an aid for those microjitters shooting at 1/40 or above, or at really long focal lengths, where the slightest jitter is really noticeable, since the sensor can only move so much before the lens starts to vignette!
    The only way to reduce shaking while recording hand-held is by either walking smoothly or setting the camera on a gimbal!

    • @paristo
      @paristo Месяц назад

      "IBIS (inbuilt image stabilization, also known as sensor shift stabilization)"
      IBIS stands for In-Body Image Stabilization. And opposite is OIS, that is Optical Image Stabilization.
      "is not so much used as a replacement for a gimbal"
      Gimbals has different purpose, but good IBIS will work so well that it removes hard shaking and movement and makes it look steady movement.
      Sony didn't have good IBIS for long time....
      "as it is an aid for those microjitters shooting at 1/40 or above, or at really long focal lengths, where the slightest jitter is really noticeable, since the sensor can only move so much before the lens starts to vignette!"
      One problem is that Sony didn't design the E-mount from the start to be using IBIS, but OIS. Image circle in Sony lenses was smaller and revealed things.
      With other manufacturers that designed their system from begin for digital use and have the IBIS in, they have much larger image circle in lenses for that reason. And so on get away.
      As again, Sony didn't have good IBIS for loooong time. With good IBIS you can walk camera front of you and it looks steady like taken with a proper gimbal system, but it still has limitations that large full-body gimbal systems don't have. But we are talking totally different classes of stabilization systems.

    I have been interested in film photography for a while, but with the extreme prices of film and development, i think i‘m too shitty of a photographer to do it.
    Do you think the a7 would be a great camera to practice photography with old lenses? I would like to practice with a cheap full frame camera so i actually learn to shoot well with the lenses i have.
    Currently it sells for 330€ used, which isn‘t that expensive.

      Do it you will not be disappointed. Its exactly what I did many years ago and the results are outstanding when high quality manual focus lenses are used. You can get many different cheap adaptors for various lens manufacturers. I use the focus magnifier to nail focus every time with manual lenses when necessary. Once you get used to it its a pretty easy procedure. I do have a Nikon D810 and a good selection of autofocus lenses which I use on special occasions but my go to camera when I leave the house is my A7 with manual Nikon lenses. I also like the fact that I can shoot 16:9 aspect ratio in camera with the A7.

    Amazing video thank you so much. I bought my Sony A7 3 years ago used for $540 Canadian and love it. I don't do any video. I thought I was missing a lot as compared to the Sony A7III however this video said there isn't much difference and to invest instead in some amazing killer lens. Which is what I did as I bought used 2 years ago the Sony 24-105 F4 G lens and saved $1,000 off the new price and it was only used for 1 week and in perfect condition. I love my Sony A7 and the Sony 24-105 F4 G lens. I use it without a flash and even do street photography at night and even at 1 am on the street and capture good photographs as I can set the camera at F4 fixed F-stop and hand hold it at even almost 1/2 a second. I did try out the new Sony A7IV and it looks like my dream camera one day in the distant future.

  • @mdkooter
    @mdkooter 7 месяцев назад +1

    The reason the anti reflective coating is different is because the one on the original a7 is VERY prone to scratching/breaks down over time with moderate use. It's hard to find an a7 with pristine display these days. So the A7-III coating probably is just a lot harder, at the expense of some more reflectivity.

    • @paristo
      @paristo Месяц назад

      You can replace the A7's screen easily. It cost 15-20 € for the new protector Sony use. And then get a razor blade to peel off the corner and pull out the protector, and then use some glue removal to clean the glass top of the displays, and install new protector on.
      For Sony's merit it can be said that it is nice thing you can swap that protector, but then again it should have better polarization/UV coating that wouldn't wear out so easily.

I bought a used one a year ago for 500 usd with a 35mm manual apsc fixed lens for about 50 usd xD and well, I want to see better options to take advantage of the full frame and see which ones work for you and not?... at first I was worried about the batteries because of the lenses electronics; but I recently bought a couple of batteries with charger and power bank and I think it would solve that problem a bit (I'm an audio student; that's my forte, but my career also involves photography and video and I decided to buy that camera because of the rush at that moment xd and well I want to be able to get the most out of it) I also have a tripod that with technique I can use for video... and 2 neewer 660 led lights with 4 bars and their tripods
