my dad been a rail dog for a little over 20 years. i grew up riding with him on weekends and summers. i loved every aspect of the rails from seeing the trains, the big cranes doing lifts/flips to hearing that empty container making booms down the road. i’ve been driving for 3 years and doing intermodal for 2, it’s a love hate relationship but im super grateful to have the help of my dad.
That help from Pops definitely helps out alot
Good info for the newbies. We had this one new driver the company I am leased on to hire couple years ago. He was always in the repair lane fixing things. Has was averaging 3 containers a day making around 375 dollars a day as an owner operator. After he met me I changed his life around and taught him how you have to run in this business. Till this day he thanks me for showing him how it’s done and how to be successful. This intermodal work is definitely not for the picky drivers that want everything perfect.
Good looking out for that driver broski
It is what it is, keep doing what you’re doing bruh! 👍🏾💪🏾💯
💯
You ever bend your mudflap brackets on the back of the truck. Do they make certain mudflap brackets the landing gear doesn't hit.
Move the 5th wheel all way back and that will give you a little more room especially with the 20's & 40's so I don't hit as much! This CAN stuff it but from time to time lol
You see Andre ? He is funny
I did... he definitely trying to figure out stuff! Last I seen was he was trying to switch companies lol
He went to the company that we worked at and there truck was repossessed and impounded towed away in the middle of the night and left us stranded in the middle of the Ozarklands and it was in the middle of the dead of winter in the snow and ice and we couldn’t get a Uber a lift a cab or nothing because it was too far out from the city and it cost us 3K to get home we lost everything we had and that company didn’t even care at all but my husband handled it and he didn’t complain or anything he made sure I was safe and warm they are going to send him into the strongest storms possible and they ain’t going to give him snow chains he is going to be on his own in them Rocky Mountains and out west and they are going to have him running his logs on pc to deliver I give him Christmas and he is going to be singing the blues lol here’s the bad part they are a reefer company they have it figured out every settlement they double down on the taxes every single load they use lumpers they are paying the drivers a advances and they are writing it off as they should but the drivers are stuck with their advances and one thing is for sure we ain’t NEVER need no advance for anything we and in 6 months we had 11K in advances for unloading the trailers and they can’t write that off and they are making their lumper payments the same amount as your settlement check I PROMISE YOU THAT ohh they are the same company that are scamming the drivers with the High Hooking and dropping their trailers fully loaded hey I watch my husband drop his trailer in front of the police I told you about yup that’s the company Coldliner
That Emhu is on a DCLI. doesn't UP have there own Chassis.
If your in a UP yard that could be the miss match. We have that problem in Cincinnati from time to time. truck just looks at the box gets an outgate pulls the wrong chassis and drops it in Cincinnati . Same thing with a UMAX scat code on a CSX box thinking it's a CSX BOX.
Rail freight is EXPERT level trucking.
I get 2 yr + exp. Drivers that say to me the Trainer. Why do I need tools.
That a mechanics job.
Those drivers don't make it.
Explain the difference between 10x20, 11.22.5 bias and 11r22.5, they're just shaking there head saying why do I need to know this.
I'll just say Trust me What I know you need to know.
I'm at the customer in KY waiting on the mechanic cause I got a problem with a Brand new chassis I can't fix.
TL Have a BLESSED DAY.
What's up J.K! I have seen U.P withl their own transport in house chassis.. that messed up my day because I had to get a flip lol!
