Too many jump into being an O/O/lease operator because they couldn't figure out how to save a dime as a company driver... they get way over their head and end up bankrupt because they are working for free.
Three years as a company driver and save 50% from the start, and I'm extremely cautious about becoming an O/O.

Most of these O/O wannabes can't even run a hotdog stand at a ball park, let alone a lemonade stand at their front yard .... Yet they wanna listen to these videos and think they can swing it 😂

Pros and cons on both sides. Lease do you research on the weekly expenses versus estimated weekly revenue and get a brand new truck under warranty with option to buy at the end.
Buy a old truck than you better know how to fix on it and have funds on deck for breakdowns. Possibly your 1st load. It’s a roll of the dice with older trucks and not knowing how well they were maintained.

I went through Bush Truck Leasing with USA-Truck. I have a 2017 Kenworth T680 that i picked up during Covid 2020. My truck had 364K when i got it with a 4K down payment. Its an ex Werner truck. My weekly payment was $720.26 with $200 maintenance included in the $720.26. The truck still had original factory warranty. It was tough but, its mine now as of October 2023. Ive never had any issues with this truck. I baby my truck and stay on top of all maintenance. I DO NOT IDLE MY TRUCK. Truck came with new virgin tires. New brakes. Ive since replaced all drums and brakes due to them putting new brakes on old drums. It can be done through lease purchase. You must have discipline. Im still here at USA.

Its usually much faster and easier than bank financing. For the right off alone I will always keep a payment on something weather a truck or another trailer written up as a lease. At tax time youll be happy

My payment was 2650$ a month + the gap insurance you have to have and then the overage(if you have any) that's mileage based and mine was .12¢ per mile over 66000 miles per 6 months... You have to send a video of your mileage, tag, lease company(dot numbers) and if you move from your current residence or lease they ask you to keep them updated...

My fuel cost were 1350$ a week or so then... My settlements after fuel, insurance, and percentage owed was usually 3200$ a week... I paid myself about 650$ a week and left the rest... If I didn't have bills that week I might only pay myself half of that... You have to remember to be disciplined even when things are going well... @MakeCentsTrucking agreed , just depends on when the cost per mile and the operators ability to proactively do all types of mechanical and body work. That helps push out the cpm.
The newer technology is still problematic. With zero aftermarket support, it makes it interesting. The dealers are still struggling ... after over a decade....
With pre emmision durable tractors, I
Talked to some otr o/o who had one truck their entire career.
It allowed them to have a less stressed life.. for family and work. I've seen it first hand... Many times.
Im looking for a needle in the galaxy trying to find an engine specific. Glider.
Time will tell. The numbers dont lie, it just depends on a o/o needs and wants.

Love your vids but got to disagree. Lone mountain has the same turn over rate as any lease purchase. The payments look good but your not comparing apples to apples. It doesn't include maintenance. Your also way overpaying for a high mileage truck. On a regular lease you can just walk away if it doesn't work out. You're not out a $7000 down payment or depreciation.

Why in the world would anyone want to be a o/o in today’s market and world. You live in a truck and make less money at the end of the year then a good local company job pays. I’m not knocking the folks doing o/o. I have thought of it myself. However the numbers just don’t add up. Trucking has to be the only career that people is happy spending more money than they make. Example a truck makes $250,000 a year expenses $150,000 a year. You walk away with $100,000. Sounds great until you realize you spent 150,000 to make 100,000. I could be wrong, but my math would indicate that’s an upside down business.

I just got rid of my truck because I didn't see where me Making enough because of the maintenance on a 2018 kenworth t680. Right now your best bet is to lease or lease purchase a truck because if you can't afford a new truck that doesn't need alot of maintenance just lease purchase a new truck from a small carrier with new brakes and new tires, after you pay for the truck the money is your you don't have to pay for anything else I'm quite certain I was making more profit leasing from a company and most companies have truck so getting another truck is easy you just have to be sneaky about when your quitting you need to not tell them and get a load home to take your stuff out the truck then just abandon the truck because they all steal your last pay check 😂😅
