- What's gals and guys.. in this video i thought i would do a full day of work and show anybody who is
thinking about doing this type of work how a day could go. Now i hit a couple of hick ups and i recovered , but the days don't always going as planned or don't always go bad. it's really up to you and how you handle it and push on the next move or call it one for the day if things are going to bad, but i hope this video was helpful and peace.

@@elpidiomendezjr.6744 Chi town.
Oh I'm in Dallas, tomorrow is my first day starting hauling containers.. is there any advice you can tell please tell me... I would really appreciate it.. thanks
@@elpidiomendezjr.6744 the best Advice I can give you is "DON'T BE SCARED, BE VERY CAUTIOUS" check everything on the chassis and box before you move it and watch the weights pulling out of the rails with heavy loads! Everything else will work itself out big bro! Most stuff you're going to deal with is on this channel lol!
Thanks a lot bro. I really appreciate it I'll keep watching your videos they really helped me a lot...
I really enjoyed the video of your "full" day, from crib to the end of your day. Enjoyable. I appreciate you carrying your food as opposed to fast-food restaurants. "Weight Station" closed, sometimes the little things make a driver happy! "Sweet" backing job at the rails. Eat healthy, stay healthy!
Thanks T.B.T.K I thought this would be different and also answer a lot of questions about how a day can possibly go doing this type of work... and I'm working on the healthy eating lol! Be safe!
@@truckingandlifelife1775 Man, I must say, this may be your best video
Thank you for all the effort for us, very helpful indeed! 👍🏼❤️😃🚛

Thanks for the video, I am working on leaving the dry van for the intermodal. This is so informative, thanks again.
No Prob E P! Glad the video helped.
Nice video great insight into Intermodal work. It’s definitely frustrating when your ready to roll but have to wait on other people to free up.
Thanks S R! It's one of my biggest Petpiv's waiting on other people that could careless about your time ya know!
Now that was a really good video Bro. Nice to see what you go through to git er done 😁. Glad wasn't too crazy for ya.
Be safe y'all and Cool Runnings 😎.
What's up W.B I thought this would give a little insight on what can possibly happen in a days work ya know.. thanks big bro!
@@truckingandlifelife1775 That looked like one your better days. 😁.
Nice video, thanks.
By the way, God knows why delays happen. I learned by being on the road. Is like preventing some thing that is not meant for you. Take a deep breath and be thankful, is just a short temporary moment of the day. God Bless you all 🙏🇲🇽🇺🇸💜
I believe that J M M! Thanks big bro!
Now that's what I call a day no additives I love this clip
thanks john !
Good idea to show it.

Great video my brother … I’m a new owner operator here the the San Francisco Bay Area thinking about running threw the rail yards and ports also
Great video 👍Be safe !
Thanks J.D.l!
Thank you for making this video 💪👍 just got my twic card and don't know anything about intermodal trucking
No prob R.W.R! Congrats on the twic card big bro!
Same for me
Thanks
Thx for the video!
No problem A.C!
Hey! Great video!! I just have a few questions. Is there an easier way to navigate through the railyard when dropping off or picking up a box? Thanks!
What's up V.G! You can... you just have to make your own system tho and find out which one work best for you!
Looks like the easiest way to the Joliet terminal from the east is to take 80 to 355 north to US-6 west. Is that the one you were driving to? At 15:07 that looks like northbound Briggs St just past the 80 interchange. I'm not a truck driver but I had a customer in that area and often took Briggs north to get on 80 west to see customers in Iowa and S Dakota. I see Briggs will take you up to the terminal as well.
Yeah I was driving to g4 i took i80 to rt53 south and came up layaway!
Thanks bro..
No worries bro!
New to your channel.
Love your videos
What's up Lucy! Thanks and Welcome to the channel!
I rocked to the end. CSX 53, Dong Fang 40, EMP ex Hub Group 53, then ended with a ONE box. Looked like a Hapag Lloyd though. Your a hard worker. I like that. Put that work in.
thanks G.D i appreciate the support yup i ended with a hapaq Lloyd. gotta put that work in....when it make sense lol! peace and be safe
Mans knows his containers!
You ain’t lying sometimes you gotta scream. You can be so on point like a knife and something is always ready to slow you down. Then the receiver looking at you crazy lol
Lol facts!
🙏😊👍❤️
They should let you park your truck where ever you want.
Thanks S.H!
Great video, the pressure lmfao 🤣
Thanks K.R! This business is full of pressure lol
AWESOME VIDEO U R A BOSS!!!!
I bought my 1st truck Friday.
INTERMODAL & PORT loads is what I plan to do.
How much does a full day like that pay?
What's up K.G! Congrats on your 1st truck... I don't do ports so I can't speak on that, but Intermodal pay can be up and down! The pay depends on a lot of factors.. like are you doing rails on your S .C. A.C code or are you leasing on to a carrier? That will determine your pay!
Are doing 20's 40's, 45's or 53's is it hazmat... what's the cost of fuel there and do you get discount at the pump.. are you running local or regional? All these are determining factors that will determine how much money you're able to make. If you're going to be leased on to a company then how much work do they have, how much of that work they have are you willing to do?
What kind of pay rates do they have and is their work consist enough to sustain your business! So you know that the pay can vary and your work ethic plays a part also ya know... hope this answered your questions Kenneth? Peace
Hang in there!
Thanks Eric O!
You the man Homie! I remember my time in chi town back in 2013 signed lease to own with Comtrak before they become Hub group I started may 2013 I fired hub in November 2014, they started with scandalous shit so I gave em the 🥾 I bought 03 Columbia with dd 60 series 12.7 with 925k on it for 13.5k cash lease on to BTT in June 2015 BTT is now XPO I got 1,423,00 on my truck now soon as my wrench can fit me in I’m gonna do in-frame rebuild it’s time still got tons of power but I see the signs and I don’t want to have the motor tell me I do the telling just like I do the driving. Anyway I love not having any payments on my truck and I really love not having to go to any of chi town rails global 1,2,4 or CP rail and Dalton. I’m still going to rails there just in DET. Anyway be safe and keep your eye on the prize 😎
What's up H.C! I'm glad that worked out for with that Colombia and I already know how that hub group stuff can go big bro! I been there and done that twice lol! I understand about the telling the truck and not the truck telling you what to do! My buddy just turned 2 mil on his Columbia.. Mercedes engine no overhaul and he still running it hard be safe big bro!
Thank you so much for sharing your day. Just got my Class A permit and I'm looking to get into Intermodal..
I see sometimes I'll have to scream AR thr Rail yards🤣🤣🤣
What's up U.T.T! Lol you Might have to do just that 🤣!
Thanks for your response. Your hilarious
@@tinamichelle6969 lol thanks 😊
I was watching your video a month ago, I didn’t know what intermodal trucking was like. I just got a job fresh out off trucking school doing intermodal work out of Markham. I love it! Drop & Hook life. Plus it pays good! But the job does have its disadvantages. Dealing with those kiosk and fucked up trailers and chassis🥴
Welcome to the channel and welcome to the rails lol!
I was just curious about shipping and this was very interesting
What's up N.D! What part of shipping are you talking about? Containers being shipped from over seas, shipping from customers to customers, customers to over seas?
Relax brother you don’t handle stress very well, bad and good days are gonna happen
Thanks A.L!
Is that UP by Arsenal? I run John Deere Intermodal Chi Town. Harvey, UP Chan, BNSF Logi Park, etc. UP has to be the easiest once in.
What's up A.S! Yeah that's U.P the first rail I hit in this video! You out of Milan/quadcities area john deere?
Thinking about going into rail container work..I live in Chicago. Can you give me your opinion of the pay and is it worth doing? Thx
What's up J.W it's doable to make a living but do rails with an end game in mind. it's designed for drivers who can make a decent living and be home daily or more often than normal for this business, but you are going to work for it believe me lol!
10.00-20 Dayton wheels 😁
New subbie. I’m new to trucking. Are owner operators under more pressure because u seemed like u were rushing. If I go company will they require so many appointments per day?
Welcome to the channel! I was rushing, lol! Pressure is definitely present because most of us get paid by the move or the mile. When you're local, we want to get the work done and get to the rest of our lives outside of the truck so the quicker and (safely of course) get done the better. Hope this helps.
You from Joliet bro. Me too. Born and raised.
I be out there so much I might as live there lol! I'm from Chicago B.H!
DOT blitzing this week
What's up R.P yeah I know all about the blitz going on this week s.m.h.. they have to make up for that rona19 ya know!
Wassup Bro just subbed to ya channel, Dope and very informative video. I’m also CHI born and raised, East Side to be exact. New to this trucking life Lol Got orientation with Schneider coming up soon for (Local Intermodal). I’m tryna be a Owner Op one day. Any tips for ya boy?
What's up B Dale! Tips.. I can say that intermodal is a rough business, but the good thing is that you're with the pumpkin company and if you're on the 53footer side they have their own chassis's which is half the battle of this business. Make sure you lock every pin on the mechanical side! On the person side keep your overhead low that way you're not be checking to checking it!
@@TruckingandLife Man I appreciate this💯
@@bdale83 No prob
you use the punching method on your tires too?? heck yeah me too 💪🏽
Always! lol
What was the pay out 4 a day like that? UPS driver asking in order 2 way my options……
What state you working of bro?, I'm in pull out of Chicago and Joliet yards
Illinois big bro joliet area also! Sorry for the late response I just seen the message lol!

You have some company for me? I am overseas.
Are you physically overseas? Or do you operate with imported boxes from overseas?

Thanks for quick response.
I am physically oversea. I am in Europe tho I operate with containers in NY Buffalo and Syracuse ramps. Working for one trucking company out of NY.
@@NS-bx8xr Aw ok all points, Evans, roadone one etc you can also try xpo I believe they are overseas also
I'm currently working on getting my CLP and am interested in doing intermodal work. Any tips on which companies will take a driver with no truck driving experience? I've noticed alot of local trucking jobs want drivers with experience.
Depends where you're located? what state you're in?
@@TruckingandLife NYC
@@frankywebon starting off I would go with one of the bigger outfits like Schneider intermodal or jbhunt intermodal to get your feet wet so you don't have To go OTR!
Hogan Transportation is hiring in that Area out of the Port in Philadelphia no experience needed but you will need a TWIC card+ hazmat & tanker endorsements
@@b512780w thanks big bro!
DOT exists to make $$$! How do those trailers ride?
They beat us and the truck up. Rough riding at it's finest! "Roger that" on the D.O.T tip also.

It is big bro... but the other headaches are still headaches ya know!
You dont put zip ties on the Chassis?
I dont if I'm running short" like down the street to another raill when it's about to come right off or depend also on the type of chassis'l locks that are on there also. To answer your question yes I do use zip ties!
How much money do u make a week thinking about doing intermodal
It's some many things that factors into that question big bro! Average can be $1500 to $4500! I know that's a broad range, but hey man it all depends on what you're doing who you're doing it with and how you're doing it!
You in Chicago? Look like a cta bus 👀
Definitely from Chicago 😭😭💯
Yup chi town lol!
