Nice Video! I am a truck driver that has only hauled dry van 53ft trailers. I was curious about intermodal trucking and your video popped up. It doesn't seem has hard as I thought it would be. This might be my next career move in truck driving. I really appreciate the video.
I used to drive to the Long Beach and Oakland shipping ports and let me say it is wild and crazy it takes long to get in and it takes long to get out. I've seen trucks crash in there, I've seen fights, seen container handlers drop containers. Anything you can think of shit even truckers unhooking their loaded chassis without putting the legs down on purpose no one cares in there. Good luck when they go on lunch an extra hr of wasted time for you, also had a couple protests so people would block off entrances making it harder for us. I enjoyed this video very much! I am a new importer from India and had my first ever 20 ft. container load arrive today from the Savannah GA port. I had a good conversation with the truck driver. All he does is haul containers to and from the port.

Great video my brother ! Is good to see people that loves God and let him transform and guide their lives, God bless you and your wife and continue using you greatly
currently in the process of leasing on with universal intermodal. Good to see this video. Altho Ill be an owner operator for them, its just good to see that the company is bigger than I thought.
Thank you PJ for making this video and all other videos you have made about Truck Driving. When I get back from deployment with the National Guard, I am looking to make a career change and use my CDL and educational knowledge and skills to work for a truck company. I went to truck driving school five years ago and just graduated and earned a Carrier-Studies Certificate in Driver's Education Instructor from Northern Virginia Community College last year.
@@family1stdad They did not say. I'm about to enter my last week of a school and received a folder called program completion and this video was in it. I just checked and there was another video in it as well about a day in the life of a coca-cola driver. I clicked on it and it's the video you were talking about in this one that you made!
I'd be driving on and off for forty years and ten years of it with a steel company, and I have never seen anyone so positive about work like this guy. Do you ever have a bad day ? You look like your having fun my friend, It's nice to see and we all need a little of what your on. maybe it's in the air by you, because i am from tri state area by interstate 95 and traffic is really bad here, can't get nothing done. I started off driving tractor trailers at FedEx and now I'm at UPS but I'm considering doing something a little different. I'm local but will occasionally do a regional run but I do have the luxury of going home every night. Although I do make a good living I've noticed that some intermodal jobs tend to be more profitable. You're right Huntsville is a very nice city and Alabama is a beautiful state. I have some friends from Florence, AL and I used to live in Fairhope down near the Mobile Bay. I like the video, your positive attitude, and your explanation of the procedures while working because I'm big on doing everything the same everyday. It keeps me safe and everyone else around me. Stay safe trucker!
I think hauling containers can be a good job, depending on where you live. I know guys in the Jacksonville area that do real well. Here in the Carolinas, Charleston and Savannah seem to be in play most of the time. Of course, if you want to wander a bit further, Norfolk, Brunswick, Jacksonville, and Miami can get you out of your rut. You don't need a lot of chrome for containers (cans), so you can get a decent tractor for $25K and run it for a year or so, do an inframe when you want to take time off, and enjoy a relatively laid back driving experience.
