Is there any huge difference between ace pro and ace especially when it comes to low light videos? because price of Ace only is cheaper than pro. Need a quick suggestion. Thanks.
Low light looks better in the Insta for sure, I also notice the lens cover must not have a hydrophobic coating as the water sticks to it. Looks like they didn't learn from the GoPro 8 flaw, the lens cover HAS to be replaceable! This is an action cam!
It dissipates heat from under as well, lying it around, no moving air and filming is not the main thing to do with action cams. I had mine inside and outside of the car in Japan last summer and never had it overheat. If there is airflow whatsoever it should not overheat that easily. If you take timelapses it never overheats on those, had mine on a yard all day in blazing heat in Japan with external power taking timelapse.
Yes, but this one has an F2.6 vs F3.2 on the ONE R. Aperture makes a big difference too. 1/3 inch is not small by any means. Although it would've been super nice to get that 1inch sensor in this with F2.6 aperture.
Are you sure you didn't turn something off from the Go Pro camera? That was a huge difference between the two. Looks like the Gopro was in a crying mode or sth. I might think you turn off sth on the Gopro.
Very very enthused, potential and probable game changer here, as a motovlogger who's been DJI loyal for two action cameras , I can already see this as being a trade up. Really productive and informative . Keen to see more ! 👍
A year later, and I did buy an action cam - DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro with adventure kit and bike mounts, with huge discount! I did consider the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, but not the GoPro Hero 13. The GoPro 13 still has issues and some reviewers had it freeze on them! If it wasn't for the great packge price of the DJI, I could have gone for the Insta360. I enjoyed this review.
I have to say... your videos are really good! You're great with the camera too! Loving these videos, and you're the reason why I'm a happy owner of the XReal Air and XBeam.
Thats all nice and sweet but what about this flip screen, how durable will be after years, what about lense that you cant change on action camera, what about overheating, what about software gliches, why is it missing 10-bit colors, why the view is not so wide? That is info what we want to know
Be interested so see how it goes on a Motorbike when mounted to the top triple. Wonder if the quick release mount causes the image stabilisation to have issues.
I bought it , wait for the delivery come to me. Was searching for small useful camera with good picture. Will do the vlogs with it , interesting about microphones, which type is suitable? If I would like to have some interviews to the person?
Hey man! I’ve been having a huge problem with my ace pro- flickering. At 60Hz 4k 24 ss-literally anything I get this awful flicker in my video which totally takes away from my shots. Any suggestions why? Great video!
call me old school. are the flip screens durable enough to handle crashes? Fast charging and no overheating is the thing. GoPro is on the doorstep now.
Thanks for the introduction to the Ace Pro. I had no idea about this camera coming out. Yeah, so far the video quality samples looks like it's on par with GoPro and better than Action 4. I like the overheating test. I'll be honest, getting a free camera introduces a bit of questioning. Overheating or glitching, anyone else know or have experience in regards to it? But sounds like a very good action camera that pulls interest towards casual users like myself. But do appreciate the well detailed overview of this new action camera. Thanks!
Is there any huge difference between ace pro and ace especially when it comes to low light video? because price of Ace only is cheaper than pro. Need a quick suggestion. Thanks.
The flip-up screen on an action camera? Not for me. If I need one for vlogging or similar purposes, the Osmo Pocket 3 is the best choice. I still favor the Osmo Action 4 for its price: better value, battery life, usability, bundled packs like the adventure combo, superior waterproofing (18m on OA4 vs. 10m on Ace Pro), and image quality, which is on par or even better in some instances with the same sensor size. The AI features on Ace Pro didn't impress me much, I also trust DJI updating firmwares and adding similar AI software features to the OA4. However, I am excited and keeping an eye out for the Insta360 One X4, which might come with a better sensor (1/1.3 inch) similar to the Ace Pro, higher resolution 360 video, and other exciting features.
The DJI Action 4 adventure combo is certainly money for value! This Ace Pro if we add all the accessories such as spare battery, charging device, Quick Reader, Multi-Mount, etc I estimate $200+ on top of the basic unit cost. That's a deal breaker for some folks.
hello @Thetechcap can the ace pro do a continuous recording of 4k 30 mode more than 2 hours in case I am planning to try this as a sort of dashcam for travel videos. The older models or other same genre cameras do stop recording after a certain time. as for the 4k 60 i have experience with insta 360 one r that its stops recording or cuts into another recording session around 25 minutes to 30 minutes.
No replaceable lens cover on the ace pro has me disappointed 😔 I can’t be the only person who’s scratched a GoPro lens. Seeing a pre production unit with removable lens on the ace pro makes me think it’s a money grab. GoPro 8 vibes
Yeah I'm confused I don't even see a case available. But it's marketed for motorcycles and action in general. If you ride dirt bikes you're gonna crash so then what??
Obviously there is no need for removable lens, if you crash with this camera the flip screen would be torn so you have to send it in for repair anyways.
The camera doesn’t have the AI warp feature because the processor isn’t good enough and is entirely app based. You also have to pay for it after 3 months, but they dont put that in the ad
Hey tom 4 month ago you uploaded Oled tv so I want to ask you that how did you get 4k mode in your tv actually my tv company name Oneplus so I want 4k mode in my Tv
Would it also be suitable for double duty as a Vogging camera in an office setting? Is the audio OK or is a separate microphone necessary or desirable if there is distance between the camera and the subject?
All I want is an action camera that allows me to record external audio in the rain! Why is it too much to ask? What use is a waterproof action camera that can't record sound in the rain? OK, so the internal mics can allow me to record distorted wind noise in the rain but I just want to record a simple external stereo and the camera to remain waterproof.
Any chance you could check the LRV files and let us know the resolution and frame rate? Most importantly, does the LRV frame rate match the frame rate of the main video file? On previous insta360 cameras the LRV files have a lower frame rate (14.98fps) which makes them useless for using as proxy files for editing. Gopro & DJI cameras use a matching frame rate for their LRV files, so they can be used as proxies for editing. To check the frame rate & resolution you just need to rename the LRV file from .lrv to .mp4 and then it will work like a normal video file. Thanks in advance!
Why didn't you compare it with dji action 4 ? Especially in low light vs go pro it doesn't really say anything as everyone knows that go pro sucks. But weirdly enough, go pro with HDR at night performs better than without HDR
It's so bad that I still only know GoPro, and always feel like I'm an inexperienced camera user. For me, GoPro is still good and perfect, because they still keep the best they can do and sell small improvements. Hopefully next year Gopro will innovate or be crushed!
@@LetoDK I know that, I just don't have the conditions to own them. But I feel GoPro still has authenticity in the images. For me, the GoPro captures the same image as the eye sees, and the sound recording ability is also excellent.
Great video thank you. Quick question - as a UK vlogger why don’t you shoot in 25 or 50 fps? I notice you were recording in 30 or 60fps, which I understood is the US NTSC standard. I’m a UK RUclipsr and always shoot in 25 fps, should I change to 30 or 60? TIA.
I don't think anything beats their preview go 3 model with the detachable "pill" camera. That thing is so damn cute and functional, needs to be a follow up.
They should be making a mini version of it, without the screen. You don't really need a screen if your doing actual "action". Will be cheaper, more pragmatic and durable. Thanks for the review 🙏

The lense is removeable!
A flip screen is a huge step up, its ideal for vlogging.
Great video as always Tom 👏 look forward to getting my hands on one 📷
This gopro overheating thing is really killing their brand. Unbelievable they didnt change this still.

Why I think stabilisation was disabled on gopro
The low light stabilization is great!
Go pro is going out of business.. DJi and insta 360 are killing it! This will be a good pairing for my pocket 3👍
Hey Chaps! What would you use an Action Cam for??
Mostly surfing, so that huge screen in the back is redundant for me.
Recording drum cover songs, biking/hiking thru the woods.
I shoot travel videos. Action cams are strong and durable not to mention waterproof…..
How is the Ace Pro audio feedback? Especially at noisy place like concerts or festivals?
Snorkeling
