Still my favorite Souls experience. Been gaming since Centipede & Colecovision...Demon Souls is one of my most treasured gaming experiences to this day. So of course this remake is in my playlist.
I remember playing this when it came out in 2009.. The experience was freaking amazing.. This was in a time before YT let's plays were widespread and the fact that it was a ps3 exclusive, meant that the group of people playing the game was considerably smaller and no one had any idea what they were getting into. This created an experience that was so immersive and scouring the various forums for clues about certain areas or gear became an integral part of it. Happy to see the granddaddy of the souls games getting some well deserved love
Never seen the appeal of the souls games as they are all basically the same . Witcher series just does it so much better in every way possible but i guess if you like pretending it's fun to die over and over getting nowhere until you fluke it then this game series has merit lol.
@@DEVILTAZ35 I played both series, I highly prefer souls games. Maybe you should try to play both as well? If you're into narrative and spending a lot of time in dialog boxes, witcher is for you. If you're into gameplay, while figuring out the story for yourself, the souls game is for you. Sorry to tell you but there isn't even a comparison in the gameplay department.
@@DEVILTAZ35 Some people prefer a challenge over being treated like a child and be guided through a game by endless hints and quest markers that take up half the HUD or listening to heaps of throw away npc's blabbering about their problems or giving a play by play of their entire personal history. It's a matter of preference. Different people have different ideas of fun. No one is pretending, you just think everyone should like what you like, which is absurd.
05:15 This area has a distortion effect if you walk on it in body form in the PS3 version, but not in soul form; the remake seems to have overlooked this distinction.
This is true. There's a ton of small details about Soul form in the original, you don't hear your characters footsteps which I always thought was a very nice touch. Not sure if they kept it in the remake.
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective It was clearly removed intentionally. You don't hear your footsteps in the original in phantom form but enemies still hear your footsteps which doesn't really make any sense. Also the idea that your steps don't make any sound while the rest of the physical interactions stay completely the same wasn't very well thought out.
12:58 this is a feature of Fromsoftware games that have marked me the most, and it's so brilliant, I don't want a infinite open world, I want a unique world I remember every palm of. Friends who start playing any of the games ask me about areas, and as If I had a map in hand I can give them detailed instructions to traverse these areas, even if I haven't played the specific area in years, it's so weird!
Yeah FromSoft make really detailed/memorable areas that really capture you. You remember everything as if you’re telling someone what street to go down to find the liquor store by your house.
The only areas I can never remember how to get through are the bogs/swamps/forest (mainly the forest for BB) and those that obscure your sight. Outside of that, I remember everything else.
The only thing that prevents this version from being a permanent replacement for the original, is the new soundtrack. In a vacuum, the music is fantastic. Comparing it to the original's however, and I definitely prefer the more subdued style there. Great choice! A PC and a PS5 is basically the best combo possible (maybe add in a Switch or Switch Lite for Nintendo exclusives if you’re into that). I’d also recommend Blue Point’s Shadow of the Colossus and Ghost of Tsushima, both amazing (and surprisingly pretty for games released for a console that came out in 2013). Edit: BTW Bloodborne is in my opinion the single best game ever created, it’s simply impossible to not fall in love with the lore and all the intricacies. You’re up for an amazing experience :)
I recommend you to play Bloodborne first before Demon's Souls, because Bloodborne's animations aren't as fluid as Demon's Souls or Sekiro. Bloodborne is a long game, you need to grind, even after your equipments are great you can still get killed or get your precious items stolen if you're not careful, and the bosses are very brutal and savage.

An outstanding improvement. I beat demon soul's in 2010. I loved the game. The 2020 version is amazing. It feels easier, but i wonder if that's because of the frame rate and load times. It feels easier to play and if you fail the load times put you right back in no time, and that helps you experiment and predict what you did wrong.
I got Bloodborne as the first game on PS4 and never liked it. The horrible framerate and frame pacing issues they never even sorted for PS4 Pro just turned me off it. How anyone forgave how rubbish it ran is a mystery for the ages. I did like the artwork but that was all. There was nothing special about the movement or slow response of the character for every input.
Everyone can have an opinion. I loved Bloodborne and the souls series and my love for them was not dictated by other people's reviews. Just as how I dislike GTA, Uncharted, and RDR2, Gears, Halo, even though they get glowing reviews most of the time, it doesn't matter to me. At the end of the day, a majority of people like em. 👍
I once had a friend who insisted he couldn't see the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps and always said people exaggerate the importance of framerate. He was at my place trying out my copy of Sonic Mania and said how impressed he was at how smooth it felt. I savored telling him why.
Well tbf if said friend played nothing but console games for years his eyes adjusted to it so it gets to a point were even 30fps looks smooth when you don't see 60 often! If you played in 60fps more though 30 gonna look awful haha I used to hate 60 bc it actually hurt my eyes xD *with some games* ima assume it was bad frame pacing bc it doesn't anymore and actually looks good but ya know 30fps ain't bad as long as its done nice! John: This game runs so well and looks so good it could be mistaken as title released late in the gen. The comments: Meh, doesn't look that good. It could easily run on my ps4.
One thing I noticed is that in the PS3 version the character moves like it's actually clad in heavy armor. Whereas in the PS5 version, it seem that the armor bears no weight.
My thoughts exactly. In the original, your character actually looks uncomfortable and clunky when clad in armor. The remake has many curious step-backs like this, the biggest of which being the new awkwardly "epic" soundtrack.
In reality well-made armor is never _very_ heavy, and has its weight distributed very evenly, precisely to help with movement. There was no such thing as an RPG 'tank' on a medieval battlefield - if you couldn't move as fast as your opponent, you would be dead. A well-trained and athletic individual could move in armor as comfortably as outside of it (though of course not for too long).
@@KillahMate Sure, like you said, a good suit of plate armor would still allow the warrior to fight with relative agility, but imagine running in that thing with weapons and shield in hand. I remember watching a video about a 15th century full plate armor's movement capabilities, and they looked clunky as all hell while running and getting up etc.
@kishenkoolskills90 What? We're talking about a detail that's missing in the PS5 version, mate. The animation changes depending on your character's endurance and equipment weight. That's extra detail, not animation limitation.
Technical details aside, I prefer the art style of the original game. The remake goes for the Hollywood look with a lot of duochromatic scenes, mostly teal/orange and green/red. Not a fan of that restricted color palette style. It's also a lot shinier and less gritty. The colors in the original look nicer and more pleasing to the eye, and they are also more varied. There's something harsh, spartan and cold about the new one, an almost clinical look that alienates you from the world rather than immerse you in it.
Restricted colour? what? There is way more colour in the remake than the original. Everything in the original looks green, you can turn on the classic filter to make it look like the original and it looks terrible.
@@Slykillful I don't think you understand what I'm referring to. The remake is very duochromatic, sometimes even monochromatic. No, the original is not all green. Look at 0:55. The original sunset has reds, browns, yellows, pinks and violets--there are many colors playing together and complementing each other in one scene. By comparison, look at the same area in the remake at 6:36. It's all yellow, almost monochromatic. There are some reds in there in the rocks, and that's about it. The filters provided in the remake cannot really fix this, as it is at the core of the art direction. The nexus is another example, it's all green and yellow--duochromatic--with some splashes of red. At first glance it looks more colorful than the original nexus, but that's not the case. The new nexus is more saturated but it has less variation in tone and color. That's more or less true of the entire game.
@@Slykillful I don't need to 'trust you', I'm using my own eyes. I'm glad you like it so much and it looks better to you. By all means, continue enjoying it.
I can't stress enough just how little a RUclips video does this game justice. Playing this thing on your TV is MINDBLOWING experience. Just an absurd amount of detail and polish, and it all runs at a rock solid 60fps. Truly next gen feeling.
I believed is not impressive like other games that were shown on RUclips which exploded and yet, u make excuses cause its YT's fault that this game is not render well.
It's only using the same AI as PS3. It's not a true next gen game or anything. Even enemy positions are all the same as PS3. I would like to see what they could really do if they weren't redoing an existing game.
5:15 On the PS3, there is a distortion effect as well but you MUST be in human form for it to appear. Soul form nullifies footstep sounds and that also affects that seal with the distortion effect in the Nexus.
Just from watching streamers play this I can tell it's one of the nicest looking games I've ever seen. Great sign of things to come. I wasn't planning on getting a PlayStation 5 but now I'm really considering it
5:13 the ground also distorts on the PS3 version when in human form. The character also makes no sound when in soul form in the original, a nice touch that personally enjoyed. It added literal weight when human, such as foot steps while while walking or clattering armour while rolling.
ACG said it barely made a difference lol . This is going to be the gimmick of 2021 unless it really takes off on Steam. It is good they have added a Steam profile for Dual Sense as it is the only hope it has to succeed. Despite all the work supposedly on Call of Duty for each gun feel nobody cares.
@@DEVILTAZ35 A lot of people are saying DualSense is the most next-gen thing about these consoles and the Cold War adaptive triggers implementation looks really damn impressive from the videos I have watched.
It seems like you inferred that the distortion effect in the center of the nexus only happens on PS5, but the original has a similar distortion effect, but I think it's only in body form.

The distortion effect in the central area of the Nexus also exists in the PS3 version. It starts happening after defeating certain bosses.

Still my favorite Souls experience. Been gaming since Centipede & Colecovision...Demon Souls is one of my most treasured gaming experiences to this day. So of course this remake is in my playlist.
Damn! Those water puddles interactions looks photo realistic.
2008 and 2009 were the reborn of PS3 with MGS4, Killzone 2, Demons Souls and Uncharted 2.
I used to play this game with my phone close by so I could use Wikipedia in case lol

@@DEVILTAZ35 I played both series, I highly prefer souls games. Maybe you should try to play both as well? If you're into narrative and spending a lot of time in dialog boxes, witcher is for you.
Youre not a fan of the restriced color palette of the remake?
Yet you love the piss-yellow stain color palatte the original game had?
