    I agree with everything you said. The one thing I hope doesn't happen is giving Coen the head coaching job. He needs to focus and improve on the offense; while Bowles or whoever is the head coach can get the defense under control. And the strength and conditioning coaches need to be replaced. Too many pulled hamstrings and lower body issues. Do these players ever stretch?

      We’re on a 4 game losing streak, besides the Ravens loss, we were in every game without our playmakers on offense, the one time our defense could’ve carried us to victory, they just laid down. As good as Baker has been playing and keeping us in games is crazy, just for the defense to cost the game

    I always enjoy these quick takes. Bowles does need to go at this point. I can almost bet Arians would not have had this happen to him. When you play defensive, you play not to lose. When you play offensively you play to win.

    I think too many people in the comment section are not hearing the proposal: which is Belichick comes in to be Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator, while Licht and Liam keep their jobs.
    People can say he is washed all you want, but the last year in New England they had a nasty defense. Even Brady's last year there: they started 8-0 with a nasty Defense. People even thought Brady was the one who was washed because the offense was terrible.
    But if they sign Belichick to a 3-year deal: where the whole idea is he comes in just to be the head coach and fix the defense. With the understanding that he gets Shula's record and rides off into the sunset, and Liam gets a raise and is tapped as coach-in-waiting.
    That could benefit the Bucs older stars and set the Team up for the future. And a lot of the older stars are used to Belichick's method via Brady so they would probably take to it if it meant getting to another Super Bowl. And if he's able to pull off another Super Bowl that gets the Bucs to 3 which is starting to get into the rarefied air amongst organizations.
    But in that scenario he stays away from the offense.

    I know I'm in the miinority cuz if the defense was gonna be better we would have seen it by now. But id prefer keeping Bowles and him naking the big adjustments needed. We have takent on defense and consistancy with coaching is huge. Im hoping for a late season bounce back like last year and keeping what we have. There have been a few sparks of greatness from the defense this year here and there, just need to stick with what works and improve on it. I may very well be overly optomistic though.

    I’d believe that Coen would get the nod seeing that they’re invested in Baker and don’t want him to be on a 3rd offensive playcaller in 3 seasons. I think it’s easier to find a new DC moving forward. Ultimately I’d like if maybe they used Bowles in the front office and gave him a superficial job title similar to BA and Tom Moore.

    Depending on how the rest of the season plays out for the Bucs, if we were to look for a new HC I would welcome BB as long as we kept Jason Licht and perhaps Liam Coen. BB knows how to win, knows how to manage a game, he knows good defense, and hes highly motivated to win. I also want to say that Liam certainly looks the part of a up and coming offensive coach, but we dont know if he can be a great HC. Itd be a roll of the dice. Ultimately, I trust Jason Licht and the Glazers to make the right decision. Pewter Report thanks for the great coverage of our Buccaneers!

Or that he doesn't wanna stay with Baker and this team? Not every OC who gets offered a HC job takes it. Some like the team and players they're with and wanna see it through. Some want to get the time in rather than have one good season than take the risk of jumping to HC. Plenty of sought after OCs excepted to have great opportunities went to have them and turned them down. Just because they bring in another DEFENSIVE coach doesn't mean the OC goes either.

    Here is something no one is looking at - injuries on defense. Jamel Dean, $18 million dollars a year starting this year for four years - but he has been injured every year he has played. Including this year. The secondary is killing them, and the front four beyond Kancey and Vea are not getting pressure on the QB. I have some questions about the talent because Jason Licht has been great at picking up other defensive greats over time: Ndamuukong Suh (from Detroit), Shelton Quarles (from Denver) and plenty of others, he was able to build up the defense. His draft picks so far - a big mixed bag. Remember: Vernon Hargreaves III (CB)? Noah Spence (LB)? How about Joe Tryon-Shoyinka currently? He gets some right but plenty wrong - more than offense.

    I don''t think it's throwing Liam away, but realistically I see Liam getting a LOT of HC buzz going into the offseason, young McVay mind OC's tend to get jobs quite quickly despite their age. The real question is do you go in on the Belichick gambit or do you tie yourself to Coen, cause I highly doubt Coen would stay in Tampa as OC under Belichick when there could be HC opportunities for him. Why settle for being First Mate when you could be Captain? Personally despite the defense being terrible this year I feel hiring another defensively minded HC is not a good idea, offenses are being favored way more so it would help if your chief strategist for the team is from that side of the ball, just my two cents on it though always good points Scott!

      When veteran players keep making mistakes that's on the coaches, too. And when younger players aren't getting developed that is also on the coaches.

    I think for the future of the team. Gotta go with Liam. If bill came on as an assistant head coach/D coordinator then hell yeah! I just know that wouldn’t happen.
    Tho if you had told past me that Tom Brady wins a superbowl with the buccaneers I’d ask what year of madden you were playing. Crazy stuff happens……

    Jon Gruden and the Glazer family are mending relationships. We know the Glazers loved him enough to overrule their GM and break that relationship to get Gruden last time.

      Yeah, but a lot has changed. I'm not sure Jon Gruden would ever coach the Bucs again.

    • @bakerman1971
      @bakerman1971 7 дней назад

      @PewterReportTV Long shot for sure, but I wouldn't be against it. My only concern with Gruden would be his relationship with players. We know that he had a bad relationship with Keenan McCardell, which was never explained, and he had a blow up on the sideline with Keyshawn Johnson. As far as the X's and O's, and putting together a team he can coach to a Superbowl, Gruden is the man. Remember, the team the Bucs beat in their first Superbowl was as much the team that Gruden built as the Bucs were the team that Dungy built.

    The offense is NOT the problem!! Scoring 30 points without their best 2 receivers proves that. it's the NOfense tha'ts the problem. They have no LB's that are as good as Devin White was in his first few years. Britt is admittedly terrible at pass defense but hes still here! Antione Winfield got his big payout this year and it shows in his mediocre play now! We have absolutely no edge rushers putting any pressure on the QB's. I think its a combination of lack of quality defensive backfield and edge rushers plus Todd Bowles decision making!!

    If we're going to hire outside the building for our next coach, I would prefer Mike Vrabel. He's a good defensive mind, a leader of men, and always gets everything out of his guys. Something it would appear that Todd Bowles is unable to do

    Bowles has most of the fault this season. But the trainers conditioners have most of the fault with injuries. All these hamstring muscle pulls etc. Are because of over training or under training. I have noted before especially defense looks dead by the 4th quarter. They have either not trained properly for a 4 quarter game or their bodies are so worn out and haven't had proper recovery time to perform. This isn't just a bucs problem plenty of injuries throughout the NFL points out to this. It May also point out to the fact players have become so strong they have strengthened what their bodies will allow. People must come to an understanding the body can do just so much and each body is different. So every player should be treated differently. Maybe tone down what they are doing as they are maxed out or increase what they are doing because it isn't enough. It can be done in season. Just a small adjustment either with weights increase the time between sessions or decrease it. To error on the safer side decrease the time lifting and increase the time off especially before games. If that doesn't work you can then increase the time and have less time between sessions. Remember each player is different and some may require one or the other. The older the player is less is better and more rest for the body to recover is best.

    Todd Bowles is .425 as a HC... Gruden .558 and Dungy .645... Belichick is .647 Bowles is a great defensive coordinator, he sucks as HC; just too much responsibility IMHO. So demote Bowles to DC where he belongs and bring in Belichick for pennies; keep Liam where he is... Problem solved. While you are @ it have Jason give Barrett a call, he said he'd play for the Bucs and would probably work for a Outback gift card; his veteran presence wouldn't save this season but could add a shot in the arm in regards to the D that is needed. Just my $.02.

    Todd is a good coach but I don’t like his coaching style especially defensively! He always what’s to blitz and the secondary was always bad when he was the defensive coach! Todd did this to himself! And to be honest Todd might just retire to save face! Last wasn’t just Todd’s career on the line either! The year Tom retired Todd threw Brian Leftwich under the bus to save his butt that year the teams was really bad!

    • @tronlegacy2664
      @tronlegacy2664 7 дней назад

      @ defense has never been that great since the Super Bowl run! But even than the secondary was always the main weakness of the defense! Some years it was the run defense too! These issues aren’t new no one noticed because we were winning games! But I always knew Todd strategy had problems and he never fixed them! MrBucsNation said that Todd had a bad roster and injuries! But that no excuse, as a coach you suppose to have you team ready! And adopted to the game when challenges come! Todd Bowles was still stuck on blitzing! Look it the falcons game this year, or the Ravens, lions, Washington… out of the times he had called blitz 30% has been successful
