I have one of these from ‘54. The chassis layout is not top mounted though and one of the transformers is mounted on the speaker basket. I think it has a rola speaker, was ghost built by valco

I would love to get my hands on one of these. I have the early 2000s Reissue of this amp (same as Fender Champion 600) which had been modded and is my daily home amp. I'm up in Portland, I gotta come on down and visit your shop sometime. Ive been enjoying your videos.
I had your guy set up my strat And he did a great job at a good price. I want to have you guys put some new pick ups in my hss for me. Maybe this spring.
They should reissue this amp but with PBC bords a ( preferably) 6SL7 or 12AYZ preamp and a 6V6 power amp and at least a 8 in speaker. Make ut affordable.I have a Fender Champ 600 and that little speaker is way to boxy. Keep they 3 inputs and 2 knobs and all the style. Im sure it would sell as well or better ( cuz of the better speaker) than the Champ600 and they sold a ton of those. I don't think Gretsch is making any amps at all right now. A affordable piece like this could give them the kick they need to get started and the name recognition they've been building that past 10 years or so. (I know its been longer but they have really been putting their name back on the map the last 10 years)
They actually did rerelease this at one point. I have no idea what was on the inside though, but I’d guess a single ended 6v6 and a 12ax7 or two for the preamp
great channel Gary! I have an all tube 7w combo with a 12'' speaker, I guess the speaker is 50w or 60w, what do you think that would do? 1 tube12ax7 and 1tube 6l6. It's a brand called Borne, from Brazil where I'm from, you can look it up: borne clássico t7

Great vid...but I can't believe you didn't plug it in and PLAY it...or have someone else take it through its paces.

They did Re release it, but its just a champ 600 copy in all, but looks.
No indication that it works at all.

Hard to tell, in general new low watt amps are great, and sometimes more "full range," clean and usable then some of the old ones.
