    FMIC (Fender) has the contract to manufacture and distribute marketing etc.. But the Gretsch namesake, still belongs to the Gretsch family. Im sure there are more details than that but, thats what it is in a nut shell.. Nice little affordable tube amp for the bedroom or studio. 5w tube is still loud. But not ear blistering. Thanks for the demo. I saw one on Facebook market place for $175 I might just go get it. Thank you Sir

    line 6 variax is the guitar I was using. I love the Gretsch. Much smoother and well rounded tone.

    In response to jjneet, the following is the description from Long and Mcquade. It does have an extension jack. Just need to make sure ext cab is 4 ohms or you'll burn this little puppy out:
    "How loud is 5 watts? Watt for watt tubes are louder than solidstate. With five watts of tube power in to the 6 inch speaker is plenty loud for practice, and recording. The speaker is a "Special Design" 4 ohm driver with ceramic magnet. Not a lot of low end but there is an external 1/4 inch speaker jack inside the combo housing. Be careful not to burn your hands if you want to plug in a different speaker cabinet. The output is rated at 4 ohms so be sure what ever cabinet you use it's 4 ohms. If you want to get more low-end without using an externel speaker then try placing the amp in a corner of your room or place it at the front of a larger closed back box."

    I strongly suspect that this is identical circuit to the current Fender Champion 600 simply redressed.

    From what I see, the Gretsch is about $200, and the Ibanez is $250. The Ibanez does come with a 10" speaker though. This Gretsch is about the same price as the Bugera V5, Peavey Valve King Royal 8, the Laney Cub 10 is also $200 on Amazon. I wish the Gretsch had an extension speaker plug.

      I'd like to see a head to head but the Ibanez also has an 8 inch not a 10.

    Was thinking of getting one of these or a Champion 600 but then I saw the Ibanez TSA5, which is the same price, same power output, but with the added benefit of a tubescreamer built in and a 10" speaker.

    What guitar was used again? Which one sounds better to your ear? The champ or this gem?

    I think so as well, the two amps are nearly identical. Gretsch is one of the many brands Fender owns.

      its literally the same thing as the reissued fender champ. its not slightly modified in any way except the branding on the outside.

    does anyone have this amp and is able to get feedback? neither my electromatic or my legacy gets feedback out of this amp even when everythung is dimed.

      Get a hollowbody

    • @saam6768
      @saam6768 4 года назад

      @@dannyrivers3922 Yeah, my electromatic is hollowbody. and its got p90s. either way, this is my fucking go-to amp. If I need feedback, I can throw some gain in front of it. This little guy sounds great. The slightest bit bandpass-y, but I think I'm gonna mod it to fix that.

      I just bought a gretsch streamliner semi hollow body and it rocks! I've got a Gibson traditional and an American fender strat and it holds it's own for sure. If everything started the same but it said Gibson on the headstock it's be a $1000 guitar! I have a true hollowbody (no block of wood down the center and it feeds back very easily much easier than a semi hollowbody

      @@dannyrivers3922 huh. To be fair, its been a while since I've tried. I'll have to go back and check. But either way, this little amp is great.
