Hi Jason, I like your tutorial, basic and to the point. I also like your wiring style - no wiring spiders!! I'm working on a friends layout in Payson, AZ. I'm at this same point so this was a good fit. Thanks! Liked and Subscribed
I believe Great Danes dont bark much but guess we will see/hear them sometime as you have the dog bed in the railway garage.Quite a menagerie you have over there!
Hey Jason, good tutorial. A small piece of double faced tape will hold up the tortoise up while ur marking ur hole. You can also use a small glob of hot glue for a temporary hold. Each can be renoved after testing. Also when throwing the switch if you have to throw the same switch twice just hit select acc twice. No need for 1 or 2.
Hey Jason nice job. If you start having trouble with the switch not throwing tight you might want to consider piano wire instead of the provided. My club has replaced all on our Tortoise switches. Hopefully I can install mine as easy as you did. Keep having fun, Chris
I understand that but the wire provided is not that strong and have a tendency not to apply enough pressure to hold the points tight and you end up with derailment. The piano wire is so strong that you can't cut it with wire cutters. We use small bolt cutters just like the big ones but very small. I'm just passing on a problem that we were having. Hopefully you don't experience it and all is well. Keep having fun, Chris
Nice work. I have seen lots of folks use them and you did a great job, but I will stick to my Märklin system. The track may not look as realistic, but point motors (even digital) are a breeze. :D Cheers!
Thanks! I think it's a Rix Products. It's no longer on the layout since I am doing a new build and no longer using this method to control my tortoises and using a much better method.
@@TheTrainFreak Ok, I have yet to catch up on your vids but what are you doing/using to replace the NCE? I have 30+ tortoises and starting to lay things out and thought the switch8 would work tied into my new DCC system. Thanks.
@schadowolf I still use NCE for my DCC system but I have replaced DCC with LCC for my accessories. Here is a link to a much newer video to get you jump started. ruclips.net/video/cp3wocx0860/видео.htmlsi=mLrpR6DIb_9-j2zm
Follow up - I found that shop, yes a RIX product, thank you! Watched the link you provided on LCC, much more research on my end now required LOL. Do you all still do Sidetrack Sundays? May want to pop in and check it out as long as not interfering with one of my football games LOL

Thanks Mike! Yeah them sheep been cooped up in there a while. You should hear the cattle car...lol!

Jason , this looks easy, I need to learn more about cross overs
Thanks James, it's not to bad once you get it up there. Crossover whether single or double will have two of these wired together.
Great video Jason
Thanks Steve!

Thanks Chris! The issue was the older switch that had paint on it. Soon as I replaced that, worked like a charm.

Good to know Chris, hopefully I do not run into that issue. Do you know exactly which gauge of piano wire?
I've been asking the Guage but know one seems to remember other than they believe it's 3 times bigger. I could send you a sample if you like. Chris
That would be nice, we have a piano store in town that might sell it. Can you send an email to me? It is located in my about section on my YT page.

Thanks Anthony! I don't think these would work with your Märklin track. Might interfere with the middle rail. 😉
@@TheTrainFreak Indeed. However, if you saw how easy motorizing a switch on my C-Track is... :D
Did you do a video on it?

@@MRR_Shadowolf I'm no longer a host but there is a group of 5 still doing it. Some channels are more interesting than others IMO.
Those notches on those scissors are for stripping wire.
I know, those scissors are about done and need to be replaced. Been using them for almost 15 years.
Nice!
Thanks!
Its an insulated wire staple
Correct. Thanks for watching!
What about power routing for the frog?
Do you know if those turnouts can do elctro frog?
