Fair number of people mentioning the spelling of extravert as extrovert, which is much more common and I probably should have used it in hindsight, but for context, extravert with an A is usually preferred for the "I'm doing a psych report" format, while extrOvert is more common in everyday common use to mean outgoing.

Yeah makes introverts sound depressed. It's more like Extroverts express emotion more . I can get super excited about something and no one in the world would know it. I get high on thinking about stuff. An example might be I just figured something really interesting about something. Both types like to share excitement but in different ways.

In my experience, both ends of introverts and extroverts are extremely socially awkward. The only difference is - extreme introverts are in constant fear that they might screw up a social interaction, so they stay overly reserved or keep over-correcting themselves, leading to social awkwardness, whereas extreme extroverts keep yapping on and on not realizing no one in the room is too invested in their mundane quips, leading to social awkwardness that they aren't aware of until much later.
I wouldnt say it's the extraversion of a person, it's just the people who have no self awareness that'll keep on talking about themselves

You are introverted --> you find hobbies that don't require interacting with anyone in person --> you meet people online who share those exact hobbies --> they all have friends and relationships and functioning social lives unlike you --> question whether you're actually introverted or just completely dysfunctional --> become depressed and more introverted in the process --> repeat

it's not just about wanting to talk to people it also includes interests and stuff like that

I think that with less hours of sleep your brain is a lil tired and that helps a lot with extroversion because introverts tend to overthink a lot of mundane situations, especially those involving socializing and you know it so you avoid them. But when your brain does not have the power to overthink you do not see yourself that awkward and as a result you aren't that awkward.... at least that is the logic i see behind it
Here is an additional tip that I learned from the MBTI community.
Introversion vs extraversion is classically defined in terms of energy, but another very good (and more flexible) definition is their social proactivity. A lot of introverts are perfectly able to hold a conversation, but not engage in it. Making the first step, the initiative, is perceived as a leap in the void, because it requires you to leave your mental comfort zone (where you have control over what's happening) and introduce uncertainty (because you don't know how the other person will respond).

I'm an introvert. I'm okay meeting new people but I don't like suddenly being in totally unexpected company. When my two friends (sisters) invited me to their place, I was ready to catch up after not meeting for a couple years (due to covid). But when I got there, there were 3 other people I'd never seen before. They were friendly but I still had a very hard time feeling comfortable and opening up, I couldn't really talk about myself and kept quiet most of the time. Next time I saw them it was a bit better, I was already a bit familiar with them and knew they'd be there, but they're still acquaintances, not friends, and I'm still not too comfortable around them when it comes to talking about anything personal.

I used to think I was an extravert growing up, but in reality I was just in a traumatic situation.
When I started a D&D group, I realized I wanted everyone to leave at the same time, and felt uncomfortable when people lingered. I then felt I was an introvert.
Tonight I stepped outside to smoke and realized I didn't want to be alone; I simply went back in and told the group I was lonely, and got a few friends out.
Finding out that, for once, I am just average is strangely comforting.

Learning about introversion years ago made me happy. My earliest childhood memories of kindergarten was always sneaking off during lunch and hiding in the bathroom and garden to get away from everyone. I kept doing that in primary school and high school. I never hated being around people, nor making friends--but I'd always need a reset after a few days. My high school attendance was 40% because I frequently broke school to stay home, but I was still 2nd in all my classes. And now as an adult I shifted and forced my way into a work-from-home career, because persistent interactions leave me feeling genuinely depressed in a way I struggled with after school.
There's a lot of nonsense and pop-hype about introversion as a trendy label, but for me it was just a word that let me know that there was nothing wrong with me--or at the very least, I'm not alone in my personality.

My sister is a bigass extrovert while I'm a bigass introvert. She always told me that I was doing something wrong because I didn't enjoy meeting people as much as she did. I've eventually learned that there's nothing "wrong" with me, that I'm just an introvert and need to recharge my social battery frequently, but I still feel self-conscious when I haven't done "enough" with people in a while. I hope that'll change in the course of my life!

I used to be pretty extroverted: I had my own friend group and had a guy friend group we loved to compete with. As soon as I heard we would get a new classmate, I told my friends we would be her new friends. But it all changed when we moved to the other side of the planet. I couldn't speak the language, so I progressively got more shy. I even declined play dates from girls who wanted to hang out. I used to have around 10 (real) friends, now, now I only have 1. And she doesn't even go to the same school as me xd

A few months ago I "finished" my relationship with two girls (yes, a relationship of 3) but it was so hard because they always criticized me for being introvert, one of them told me that I was like that because I wanted to, and the other disliked my silence. I couldn't ever be closer with them and to be more... and I always thought it was because I didn't felt accepted. One day I couldn't take it anymore and I say goodbye without explanations.
When I was young I thought I was introvert, but it turned out that I just lacked social skills. Once I improved, I found the joy in social interaction and stop feeling so lonely.

This is a perfect explanation of Introvert vs. Extrovert. So many people think it's just about how social you are, when it's really about energy. For example, I'm an introvert--as a result, I expend energy whenever I'm with other people. Not in the sense of "Ugh, this is so draining," but in the sense of "Wow, I've been talking and expressing a lot, I'm starting to run low on stamina." Ironically, this means that I get emotionally tired fasted when I'm with people I like, since I get so excited and energetic that I burn through my social energy quicker. It's something so ingrained into the way I live that the idea that people could actually *gain* energy in social situations is borderline inconceivable to me. It's especially frustrating to talk about when everyone online acts like introversion just means you like to be alone and/or don't like company. That's not introversion, that's just being asocial.

Then I did another party at 8th grade, and all my classmates did was to sit on the couch with their phones and ask for the wifi password, and endlessly scroll glued to their screens. It was by far the worst party I ever had. At 9th grade I did a small party with only my close friends. Then covid came along, and I stopped making parties, and figured out that my life is better without them.

If you're an introvert or an extrovert and you say "no I'm a normal human being" you'll sound like an asshole. So we have the word ambivert so that you can better communicate what you're talking about. Like. .. saying your a normal human being doesn't refer to anything in particular and randomly throwing it into conversation when you can just say "ambivert" and have people understand is needlessly complicated and dumb.

ambivert isn't a word to make an ambivert seem cool or unique, its simply describing their social activity. they are between introvert and extrovert, thats all. I used to be an ambivert, I didnt act like it made me better than anyone else, and I didnt act like I was special. I wasnt going to say im an introvert, or an extrovert if someone wondered. so dont act like its a brag, its describing themselves.

A good book that can be helpful for introverts and extroverts alike is "The Introvert Advantage" by Marti Olsen Laney. It goes into more detail about how the two groups differ, how self-acceptance goes a long way and strategies for introverts specifically to help avoid what the video referred to as "blind spots." Strategies include rewarding yourself for doing social activities, no matter how small, through self-praise, counting mental good boy/girl points, candy/treats, etc.*pats myself on the back for writing this comment*

The whole internet pretending to be introvert is so annoying. Literally everyone shows they are introvert. Their fakeness is so frustrating. Being an introvert is a trend now, not a feature. It's so toxic and disgusting. All my friends keeps on saying they are iNtRoVeRts and it's annoying. These people have a habit of commenting ,"As A iNtRoVeRt.... Blah blah'' everywhere. Someone talking about party, someone talking about extroverts or gatherings or socializing, these people are always first to flood the comment section. Being a an introvert doesn't make you superior. And no one gives a fuck. Buy that!!
It’s because they want lables to make them feel special. Personally over this year I’ve gone to hating every label people want to plaster on themselves to make them feel special. Christian or atheist? I’m just nothing. People would be better off without lables. Black or white? How about just a person. Gay or straight? Just pick who you want to date without silly lables. But I see this mentality failing with transgender people but nonetheless it’s a good mentality to have
i would point out though, the internet gives introverts the space to actually voice themselves, which we normally can't do coz the extroverts are louder :P
but YES also true, many people take titles coz they're not interesting enough on their own or something, they have their own issues, and they just wanna feel more special so they take on a title that doesn't belong to them, or that relates to something irrelevent, or something that nobody actually needs to know about them, and they put that label ahead of themselves instead of working on improving their own personality/character O.o
(i see this a lot in the arts.. "im a creative soul, im an ARTIST!" screeches average karen-like lady who just watched a youtube tutorial and spilt leaky paint on a canvas and let gravity create the patterns... and other than that they've never done any art.... but now they can scream at people that there's something interesting about them....)
I KNOW, literally almost half of the entire population are introverts, it doesn't make you "unique" if you self identify as one..
I find being an introvert pretty beneficial. It gives you more time to think things through before you do something that you will regret. I'm just very individualist. I won't dance at weddings because I don't like to embarrass myself or do something I'm gonna regret. That seems to be a thing for extroverts is to be the "hold my beer" kinda thing.

I didn't knew that difference.
I consider myself an introvert, and being exhausted by social interaction is 100% true. I'm really pumped to go to a party, or to meet with friends, even just to go to university and talk to my mates, but after these events I need to recharge, play my guitar, watch videos, etc. After parties it's more extreme. After I get out of the party venue, I need to listen to very chill, sometimes bittersweet or even sad music, like 'Brothers In Arms' by Dire Straits, walk to the train station with my leather jacket fully zipped up, my leather gloves on, these somehow give me a sense of safety, and they're hella comfy. When I get home I have a good sleep, and then watch Netflix for 12 hours the next day, have some hot tea and a very filling meal.
