    I love a good Greek salad. I make mine with bell pepper,tomatoes,cucumber purple onion,olives & and little feta cheese with olive oil dressing or a light Italian. The salad you made looks amazing!

    I have grown in my salad making through the years.My idea of a salad when my husband and I got married 44 yrs ago was iceberg lettuce,tomato,cucumber,and carrots.That was not my husband’s idea of a salad. His was everything but the kitchen sink😁.So I had him “show” me( another words make a better one for me 😉.
    Question for you. Would this be the size of a salad for 1 person?
    Also I was surprised that you used that many varieties of nuts & seeds in one salad.😮
    I am trying Tahini ,olive oil & fresh lemon juice for dressing,but if it’s too dry I use a 1/2 c of cottage cheese to moisten things a little more.
    I’m glad you don’t obsess about calorie counting because that can lead a recovering anorexic down a bad thought process again.😏 11:37

    Thank you SO much for this content!!!
    A little background……my labs indicated my sugars were up a bit- pre diabetic. Immediately the doc wanted to start me on Metformin. I was polite, but firm in saying “No, I won’t be doing that.” I knew diet could make a difference so they told me to try the Mediterranean diet and retest in 3 months. Why would they not even suggest this to begin with? Sadly, our medical system treats symptoms instead of improving the cause ( pet peeve 😠). There was however no guidance in how to implement this new way of the Mediterranean lifestyle. I have had a crash course. As a beginner, I am so grateful you have sensible content to guide me. Thank you, again!

      I’m so grateful for your comment, and very glad you’re finding the videos useful! Your story about not receiving any guidance for following the Med Diet is exactly the reason I’m making this RUclips channel - it’s is a story that is all-too-common, unfortunately. I’m here to try and fix that 😊

    Everything you said is so amazing! I shared this video (and a few more!) with a group on FB).
    I really hope they find their way over here.
    There aren’t too many doctors who break it down this simply. They send you home with a hand out & tell you to “try Mediterranean” and that’s it!
    I look forward to more videos! I’ll be. I’ll be binge watching!

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  Год назад

      Thank you!!! I’m so glad you’re finding it valuable. What you say about the hand out of “eat this not that” is exactly the problem I am hoping to solve - most docs don’t get any diet/nutrition education in med school. I’m hoping to make that knowledge much more accessible for folks because it really can be simple!

    I have a hard time doing salads when it’s cold, but I’m getting into salad season. Thank you for the great ideas. I have a helpful hint for salads. In my fridge I have a salad add ins tub for containers of things to add to a salad. I try to switch things out to keep salads interesting. It may have olives or prepped crunchy veggies, capers etc. Then I have a drawer with miscellaneous nuts and seeds. I put them in the fridge because I buy in bulk.

    Thanks for the information Dr Anna..My sister and I started the same kind of vegetable salad 2 weeks ago, because we want to take care of ' sugar' in our bodies.. We're both prediabetes.i think i put 4 tbsp olive oil is that way too much olive oil? I love all kinds of vegs, kale spinach purple cabbage cucumbers etc.. The salad makes me chew chew and chew my food, where as I use to gobble my food before.
    Keep the recipe coming...😊

    Love your channel! Just started the Mediterranean diet about three weeks ago and already feel so much better! I have a question about cheese and Greek yogurt. Do you use full fat or reduced fat?

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  7 месяцев назад

      I’m so glad you like the content! Great question - you should use whichever one you like! Given that the fat in dairy contains lots of saturated fat, it’s good to be mindful about how much of this fat from animal sources we are getting, since too much is linked to cardiovascular disease. That said, which type of yogurt you choose would then entirely depend on your overall diet and taste preferences

    That looks like a huge amount of salad. Was that actually just a salad for one? It looks delicious by the way. I never thought of using tahini as a dressing component. I’ll have to try that.

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  10 месяцев назад

      Yes it did come out bigger than I anticipated! But it’s not uncommon that I make myself a HUGE salad as my main meal of a day. But side salads are also a go-to for myself and can definitely be for you too :)

    • @annapleetmd
      @annapleetmd  Год назад +3

      Great question!! This is something I too desire. A good trick I use is to pre-chop any veggies for the salad (like tomato or cucumber) but keep them in containers in the fridge dry and without dressing to keep them crunchy. Then when I want the salad, I just mix everything together and add the oil/vinegar!

    If you use a small blunt knife and using half of the Avocado cut it into squares whilst holding it in the palm of your hand and then turn it inside out. You don’t need to touch the avocado flesh and no ER.
    Ensure you use a small teaspoon to scrape out the dark green flesh to get the main nutrients

    I make sure to buy raw nuts and seeds. Too often they can be roasted in palm oil. It’s so important to read labels otherwise our best efforts can be sabotaged.
