To wash your vegetables all you need is white vinegar and some people add baking soda as well. My problem with lettuce is always either it gets wilted or soggy and gets orange color.
Best way to wash vegies, particularly those with lots of dirt, is to soak it in water. Every couple of minutes, give it a shake so it removes the dirty down to the bottom, change the water until the water is clear and no more dirt at the bottom. I usually wash my vegies about 3-4 times or until no more dirt at the bottom.
Before I retired I made salads for the week in quarter mason jars. The dressing was placed in the bottom, then the moist vegetable like tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, etc. then layered bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, shredded brush’s sprouts, then some kale or Malabar spinach and finally top off with lettuce. You can use all kinds of vegetables and fruit, meats, fish, fresh herbs, nuts, cheeses. Just be sure to put the dressing and mist fruits and veggies in the bottom and then the dryer ingredients last. To serve just turn the jar upside down over a large plate and voila! You have a lucious and nutritious meal. These are great for potluck meals Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I wash all my fruits and veggies in a white vinegar and water with 2 drops of Dawn, rinse well and air dry everything.
You do such a fantastic job cleaning & prepping! It’s amazing how much dirt comes off the produce. I love the containers you used for storage. Prepping is essential to eating healthy foods and not grabbing something processed.
Although I always prefer glass, Nancy Meyer Green Boxes keep produce fresher way longer due to their natural mineral content and ability to let gas/air out, they are GREAT.
I believe you meant Debbie Meyer’s Green Boxes. I tried using them several years ago and those green colored containers didn’t keep food freshly for me. Perhaps there have been good updates since.
I thought I was the only one who uses cherry or grape tomatoes for my salsas . They totally last longer than a regular cut tomato! This video is very inspiring! Definitely going to try the lime dressing and the walnut chorizo in my next taco salad.
Yummy, I'm eating my salad watching this. Thanks for the great fresh tips. It's worth it to prep several salad meals all at once for when you get home a nutritious meal is prepared.
I have a 4 compartment salad container. 1 = largest container and contains all the vegetables (the base) 2 = Nuts, Seeds (dry) 3 = Protein & Cheese 4 = small container for 1 Tbsp of dressing. My salads always last me from Sunday to Friday, no problem.
Short version: Make sure everything is completely dry, use glass containers not plastic, use long lasting veggies like cabbage and green onions, and don't add anything that can spoil quickly like beans until the day you eat it.
More wonderful recipes to try. I’m not sure which one looks the best. Ohhhh, jealousy has set in with all that beautiful produce. Wish we had better farmers markets. Enjoy your week.
These salads look sooo good!! I just used leftover taco ingredients for a salad the other day and it was really yummy, I made a pico and added corn to it, a little like you corn salsa! Such a great addition to a salad! I think your jalapeno dressing would be bomb -- going to make that and get some of the pea crumbles. Thanks for all the great ideas :)
Wow thanks for so many great ideas! I always make cashew cream with part hemp seeds, but then I add Cholula on top when I put it on my salad. Another recipe I found lately was blending in a chipotle pepper in adobo to the cashew cream with garlic and lime juice and it was superb! I'm totally trying the jalapeno one next.
@@lovingloa1903 I do 1/2 c. raw cashews and 1/2 c. hemp seeds, 1/2 tsp. lemon juice, 1/2 tsp. apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tsp. onion powder, 1 Tbsp. non-fortified nutritional yeast blended in a high speed blender with 1 cup of water.
Needed this video RN. Lately I just don't enjoy the food I used to love anymore. I hate to say this but even a home cooked hearty meal sometimes just doesn't hit the spot like it used to. Maybe my body is telling me to clean up the diet 🤔 my only problem is I buy veggies and they go bad so quickly 😢 looking for tips for keeping them fresh as possible. Sorry I keep editing 😅 but all that food looks wonderful. Absolutely cannot wait to try especially the dressing recipes! New sub here.
Loved this. I'm not vegan so I would just substitute ground beef or chorizo. One tip, add a lot of paprika to your homemade chorizo. You'll see the difference it will be more like the real thing. I come from a Hispanic family so chorizo is made frequently.
I love making random "kitchen sink" salads -- lettuce, tomato, cucumber, frozen berries, a little bit of corn, some type of nuts, etc...... they are never quite the same twice, and are so good!
I just found your channel. Right now I don't really have the fridge space to prep salads, but I absolutely love the concept. It all looks so delicious. I love your ideas for salad dressings. It's inspiring to watch you wash and prep your foods. Sometimes, I just get lazy and then good food tends to go bad. I hope to incorporate your ideas in the near future. Such great ideas...yum! I'm hooked. Liked and subscribed to your channel!
You don’t use the white part of the green onions? That’s my favourite part! I only take off the very tip with the roots attached. The faux chorizo looks so good!
This was great! Thank you so much for this salad prep video! Salads are my main meals. I have all the ingredients except the pea protein crumbles. Will pick some up today and start my meal prep. Now I have two additional salad dressing recipes to choose from. 😋
I really enjoyed your video! Your voice was so calming as you explained everything you were doing. Great recipes. I’m always interested in new dressing ideas and keeping salads fresher longer. New subscriber😊
Good morning Chanty Marie. You're looking lovely as always - fit and fantastic. Just like you, I like starting my day with a healthy salad - thanks so much for your recommendations as to how to keep them fresher longer. 😉😉👍👍
Looks amazing! I don’t use meatless crumbles I only use beans in mine, and sometimes I mix it between black beans, red beans, and pinto beans, which I cook from a dry form in an Insta pot. I love low sodium taco seasoning for mine as well! I definitely don’t use cabbage or kale it’s just too bitter of a taste for me. I absolutely love Romain in baby spinach, the most! Overall everything looks great. I actually add almonds or peanuts to mine. I cannot stand walnuts. I think those are pretty much a get used to type of taste lol. 6:576:59
Great idea with the beans, I was wondering what could be a good substitute and that’s perfect. I also don’t like bitter but I can do kale if there’s a peanuty sauce on it and the kale was massaged. Baby arugula or baby kale is usually sweeter than fully grown if you do want to try those sometime. Microgreens too. :)
New subscriber here!!! So glad your video showed up for me. I'm hooked with your prepping and tips. Most definitely will be prepping salads including the plant based taco salad.
10:35 first of all, let me say that everything you made looks so delicious. And I have to say watching you prepare everything was so therapeutic, new subscriber here, and I will definitely be following your channel.
thank you for sharing your meal prep sharing some helpful tips use a clean board/knife each item prepped, tear lettuce by hand since metal knives turn edges brown, acid/metal bowls do not go well together
Take mini peppers and cut up place in a mason jar and cover with vinegar…whalla you have peppers whenever you want…good done the same way with garlic, onions and cabbage.
RUclips must be reading my mind again, I JUST prepped some salads and fixins myself, using many of the same ingredients you did. Sundays are my typical weekly prep day tho. But girl, you need a mandolin or other "make chopping easier" utensil, that's a LOT of chopping!
Hi Chanty good morning happy Tuesday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
I'm so happy I found your channel. This video is super helpful!! I'm trying my best to be more organized with my meals and my groceries. I love salads so now thanks to you I can prepare them in advance! I would absolutely love to do Spanish subtitles for this video, so I can share it with my family and friends. If that's something you'd be interested in, please let me know! Love from Argentina 🤗
What containers do you use are the glass they look very nice and a nice size I don't wont containers to be to heave in my freezer I have a glass shelf in my freezer
“Pick up an apple and just eat it with dinner”
So true. I find that simplicity is key. When it’s simple, I can be consistent. Thank you!
And eat everything on a bed of dark greens 😊🥬
@@MistresstheMediator I'd say the more colours you eat the better (obviously not artificial colours)
I do this with grocery store fruit and vegetables. Farmers markets are not the only places dirty. Even pre package stuff I wash.
To wash your vegetables all you need is white vinegar and some people add baking soda as well. My problem with lettuce is always either it gets wilted or soggy and gets orange color.
This was such a great reminder for me to get to prepping and don't start slacking!!!!! Your salad and dressing looks yummy!
my 2024 resolution is to make more salads at dorm (im a uni student wanting to have a healthy lifestyle haha)
What's with that wash??? That looks like a dish wash solution 😮 is it naturally based or sls one ???so much foam wow!!!
Thanks for sharing! It’s really nice to see a young person (millennial) who wants to be clean with their produce and how they eat. God bless 💕
Thanks for watching! 🥰

Daily salads for life 🥗❤️🔥
Breakfast lunch n dinner 😂
Vid is packed with great tips for both prep and storage. Time stamps are so helpful.
Is there a content creator that actually shows how the prepped food looks in 4 days?
No one.. who wants to eat salad after 5 days ?
Of course not! Brown lettuce? Ugh!
I know...right
By day 4 my food is dying but i eat it anyway

How long we can keep Salad dressings. They are yum !! Thanks for sharing
If you freeze. Firm or extra firm tofu it makes it drier and soaks up the marinate more.
I love doing that! Makes it so spongey!
