This is the way mate, well done! RUclips is plenty of beautiful melodic tutorials about the Wavestate but you are the first one making this machine much more amazing than it is. Congrats and thanks for showing us the sassy/riot face of the Korg Wavestate.
I SIMPLY want to THANK Y😇U: I tell people that it's always better to read one book twenty times than to read TWENTY books only once - - That goes also for finding different people trying to explain the same thing; you're have solid foundation on how to explain things!! 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
I can't tell you how grateful I am for your videos. First of all your voice is perfect for this type of heady info. I am new to the wavestate and I'm trying very hard to understand more of 'synthesis" . Your video was just so great. I can't wait to follow it and try it myself. Your pace is perfect too. I hope you make many more wavestate videos as they are fantastic. Korg should hire you~~ WOW~~
haha very interesting. i figured how to make sequences on my WS not long ago, but im fairly new to granular methods as a whole. the crossfading options alone are pretty amazing. and it looks like granular on a WS will work pretty amazingly, esp with some delay added also
I recently bought myself a Korg Wavestate and increasingly find that I can spent hours fiddling with the sounds and getting weird effects (such as in this excellent video) but at the end of all that time, I start to think 'well what have I actually achieved?', I've not learnt to play a new song or improved on what I can already play. I've just spent all my time fiddling around to make a few weird sounds. So I've just wasted several hours on nothing really!
Hmmm, what do you mean by "achieved"? "Achievement" seems to require some sort of standard of success. If the standard you are using is learning to play a new song, then perhaps a piano or keyboard would be a better choice of instrument to work with. If your standard is to be absorbed in a world of sound and explore strange and inspiring sonic possibilities, then the time you spend with your wavestate could also be considered its own achievement. Also, let's not forget that those weird sounds and effects can be recorded, arranged and eventually turned into compositions! :) Just my 2 cents; thanks for watching~
@@bluecliffsynthesis6685 I thought your video was excellent. So I wasn't criticising anything you were doing here, I was just making a general observation on the machine itself. I was very excited when I first got it and looked forward to getting some great sounds from it. But then I started to realise that I was really just spending hours playing with the settings and the sounds and had nothing really to show for it . Perhaps it's just not the machine for me! But keep up the great work.
@@loskioskbears Hehe, for sure! Glad you liked the video. I was more offering my statement as a general reflection. The Wavestate has a particular workflow that may not appeal to everyone, so it very well may not be the right fit for you. Either way, wishing you happy creating!
loskioskbears LOL I know what you mean I can’t even make weird sound LOL I just mess with the sounds already there can’t play a damn thing on it. I also bought the mini log XD. Same thing well maybe I’ll learn. Good luck
Great ideas. I guess you can call it weird sounds but for noise based music or some experimental idm like mentioned Gantz Graf this is highly usable. I have a sampler for that kind of sounds for now abut I'm considering getting Wavestate. Anyway subscribed and looking for more interesting ideas.
Great video! This actually has me even more interested in this synth. I like using waves as basis for synthesis and I’ve actually had a lot of fun using my Digitakt as a sample based synth. This, being multi-timbral and the huge polyphony and mod options seems perfect for me! One question though, could you in theory be doing these insane sequencing tricks and glitches on one part while a soft piano is playing on another part (for example sequenced on a different midi channel)?
I wonder if you can have granularization effect by modifying a delay time from step seq lane... And also as you can load your own samples into WS now you can slice a sample and load the slices to put them on the sample lane
Extreme and abrasive digital weirdness adding a new dimension to the world of Wavestate. What is that intriguing green phallic object standing at the top left of your WS? 🤣
I am a big fan of extreme and abrasive digital weirdness! :D Haha, the mysterious phallus is Jizo, the Japanese representation of Ksitigarbha bodhisattva within the Buddhist pantheon, who descends into the hell realms to save all sentient beings : )
You can create and select a different set list, and whatever you put in the first slot will be the default patch. Pretty sure that the selected set list persists across power cycling.
Well the thing you said at the beginning about not being able to “manipulate the samples” is completely wrong. That’s what modulation is all about. You can change the shape, start time, end time, pitch, ext.
You can make music out of that? Where would you use that. I guess somethings wrong with my imagination. Not trying to be rude I like your video and you trying to show us idiots like me how to work this thing thank you.
haha, it's possible to make music out of anything! :D For me, I feel granular effects can be useful as "ear candy" - embellishments within a track to complement textures or percussive elements.
I’ve been trying to make a sound that sounds like the duduk Man I love that Sound. Anyway thank you man for reply. I enjoy your videos I think I can learn from you you explain it simply. If you come up with the duduk sound any time let me know LOL. I’m learning LOL
I've had my wavestate for 10 months now and watched a ton of RUclips videos about it. This is one of the best, many thanks.
Your voice is so soothing, you're like the Bob Ross of sound design. Nice video.
You are in love with him.
What a very informative and detailed tutorial thank you so much, subscribed, and just ordered my very own wavestate last night.

Excellent video! More Wavestate tutorials would be amazing, this machine goes deep.
This is a great approach to timing lane and sample loop. Thanks for doing this!
This was super helpful for me to understand certain aspects of the WS. And I had a blast playing with these granular sounds. Much thanks!
Very informative. It sounds much better than my old Wavestation.
Excellent!!!👌👌👌
Thank you for your time to help many others get inspired by this amazing deep piece of hardware.
Superb use of modulation
👏👏👏
Just about to pull the trigger on one of these. This certainly helps mate. I think people are missing the point and depth of this synth.
Awesome idea which takes the WS into new territory! You explain really very well and I hope you'll do more tutorials!
Genius ! Love it 👏👏👍🙏
This is what I called synthesis..If I hear one more drone video,I will scream, so I love thinking outside the presets..
Brilliant idea! I'm going to try this out tonight.

Well done and very intersting!!
Brilliant mate, really well explained! Look forward to the next one. Subbed
Hella dope video! WS with an MK3.
Love the super relaxed hostage video vibe.
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing
Interesting! Thanks!
Well done, you presented a really nice idea
13:40 Electric razor time xD
you've done it! 🤯

Amazing mate!!
Hi BlueCliff Synthesis, Autechre's what track at 10:01 did you mention? I didn't quite understand.
Gantz Graf :-)
@@bluecliffsynthesis6685 that broke my mind 🔊🤖

Yes, easily. You just program another one of the four layers and then use the keyboard split function.
Brilliant.
Great 💣

What was the example track you mentioned at around min. 10.00?
Gantz Graf, by Autechre
Can it be usb powered?
Nope
does anyone know how to turn the DLB UNPREDICTABLE preset thing off on start up so annoying
Not sure what you mean by this? My device starts up on the last patch that I was using.

I'd use it as the background layer for a pad, with a very long attack time. Think the D50's Native Dance pad for example.
Freak mode
how to f... up your korgy
more glitch than granular but interesting anyway
I don't get it
I don't get your comment
This synth blows. It sounds like a roland xv 5080 with shitty synthesis
