This tutorial gave me so many fulfilling "a-ha!" moments. It's really helped make more sense of the Wavestate workflow for me. Thanks so much. Please do more!
Watched it again and I still think that this is the most useful tutorial about the Wavestate on RUclips! I get to play with mine next week and I'll definitely follow along with this tutorial again when I sit in front of this amazing machine.
When I first saw this wave state I thought I'd have to go to a university to learn how to use one! But these tutorials you've done are great. They don't jump around like others on you tube. I've gone from totally confused watching other tutorials to a fresh re booted brain watching yours!! Thanks very much!
I got my WS a few weeks ago & it has been an intense learning curve with its share of discouragement. Your videos have been a HUGE help, THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Oh shit, my mind blew right open at 6:30 when you set keyboard zones by holding enter and pressing the keys. I had no idea that you could do that. I know it's all in the manual but it's the most dry manual I've ever read. So in my heart there's countless little secrets like that hiding in the wavestate. Thanks for illuminating a few of them for us.
I really enjoy your explanation- you should just do this for every synth - your voice is very calming and it takes the overwhelming out of all the menu divning and params. do more synth! - your (button)pusher.
This is exactly what I imagined I would do with the Wavestate. Thanks very much for taking the time to figure it out, and share with us. Now if only my back ordered Wavestate would arrive. Everyday I don't see it has shipped in my email, is torture.
This was such a great tutorial! I was always wondering about a hold function for all those parts and apparently the hold button only works in arpeggiator mode. So seeing that you can easily switch on hold per part is a great relief.
Wow! Amazing tutorial, exactly what is needed. After getting my Wavestate last week I've only started tinkering, reading the manual and watching Korg's Wavestate tutorial. Your video is so inspirational! Keep up the good work!!
Subbed!! These are the type of videos we need. We need to know how to make our own music with these machines. I don't see the point on spending 700 quid on something, and just buy everyone's patch sets. I personally like to know how to make them myself. You could spend hundreds on patch sets, and not have a clue how they were made up.... unless you unravel every single element of each sound and write it all down layer by layer..... and how long would that take if you have 50 buggers??? Its a bit like having an automatic car compared to a manual car... There's more fun to changing gears, than letting the car do everything, apart from braking.
Very insightful and clear explanation, seems straight forward the way you presented it. This example functions as an external hardware version of VPS Avenger plug in's sequences though seems easier to program and harmonically more controllable. Nice piece of gear.
Great tutorial. Watching this was a real "lightbulb" moment for me. Mine isn't due until the end of March (meh) but these tutorials will have me ready to dive straight in when it does come so cheers. For a live situation would you create your intro, verse, chorus, bridge, etc. in separate performances like this one?
Very nice - thx! If you get a chance, can you explain what the Step-Seq lane and the Mod Processors do? Right now the answers seem above my pay grade :) Great job - we’d love to hear more!
This is great. Would you consider doing one just on the degree to which the Wavestate can imitate a regular poly synth? I know for many this is a new, additional tool on top of their other synths. But it's also an interesting proposition as an all-rounder for people getting into electronic music. I know there's a standard saw wave on their which I heard from another video, but keen to know what the ratio of "raw sounds" to samples there is.
theres a whole section of raw oscillators and up to 16 voices of unison per layer ( max 64 voices at a time ) so you certainly could make some massive pads
Very nice and so good understandable tutorial, but i prefer something more "advanced". Something any build without "preset". Even so you are very good teacher. Example me interest: 1. time line with parametr "note" (no xfade) 2. on each note another cutoff parameter ( i tested with "shape lane") 3. or i have sometimes problem with looping (even though I set the loop inf. ) loop seq. play only one time. and i have no idea why ? So thx. !
Hi, I don’t have a “Drum” category - did u install other sounds on it? (FYI, I’m on the latest 1.03 firmware). Also thanks for your vids they’re very useful! All the best! 👍🐬🚀
Ah! Found it! You have to scroll down once on the Initial Performance screen so the Performance title is not backlit and then move the Value button and select Category!
hello there, where did you get that drums category, in my wavestate when I click enter on drums it sais that there s no result for selected category or collection. thanks
Tried to follow along to this on my Wavestate but first problem was I have no Drums in my categories!! They are in the new editor/librarian app but no sign on my machine, any ideas??
At 4:00 Whenever I choose the BASS BUMP program and then go to TIMING to choose a preset RISE ON UP! It doesn’t play a bass sequence like yours, it just plays a single note. How can I fix it?
I keep looking online how other people do with keyboard zones and I'm always amazed that something as simple as that works for them, but not for me. As soon as I press a key in a zone assigned to a different layer, the other zones stops playing. All zones together are like 20 notes at max (far from the 64 max) so I don't understand how you get all zones playing together. I can't :(
I updated to last firmware version 2.1.1, but still no difference. An ex. of the issue: layer A is set to zone Z1 (C1-B1), layer B set to zone Z2 (C2-B2). I play a note in Z1 (an arpeggio in HOLD mode plays a sound from layer A). Then I play a note in Z2 (a ynth sound). The arpeggio from zone Z1 (layer A) stops. It can be something else than an arpeggio, a sequence, whatever. Playing a note in a different zone will stop whatever is playing in the other zones.
Ok. What I described in my 2 comments seems to be a bug happening when you activate the HOLD option on a layer and then also on another layer. I restarted the WAVESTATE it worked with HOLD on 2 layers, I changed preset and came back to the previous one and it didn't work anymore untill I set HOLD off on layer B. If I had time I'd document all the bugs that I encounter so people are aware. Like mine freezes sometimes, while nothing special is happening. Weird!
It’s a good video but you might want to more carefully explain why you chose to transpose the drum sample that you changed the keyboard zone to trigger with only C3 the way you did via the program setup page. By doing so in the program setup page, the note index parameters weren’t changed; but if you would’ve attempted to transpose the sound via the octave buttons, you’d notice you couldn’t even trigger the sound with the same physical key (C3), as the entire midi index had been altered. This occurs if trying to change the transposition via the layer setup and performance setup pages as well.
We are pretty sure those layers with hold enabled will just loop or sustain indefinitely. You can either deactivate the layer(s) or change patch. Or edit the layer.
We are not sure specifically copying layers is possible, however, if you just wish to duplicate a sound the easiest method may be to save Layer A as a program and load that program into Layer B. Compared with the layer in its entirety, we believe a program omits only the arpeggio and a few MIDI assignments.
Can you make your own beats on this thing And select your own hats and snare drum and add a bass synth on top of that like you can on the Roland jd-xi?
You can absolutely program your own beats, the Wavestate libray is full of one shot samples. You could program a linear beat on one layer where each step could potentially be a different sample, or a polyphonic beat using multiple layers. Given the extensive programmability of Wavesequencing 2.0, you can create some very sophisticated drum beats in this manner.
Can anyone help me lol... how in the world is overall tempo adjusted??? Is there a more precise way other than the tempo "tap" button? If there is I can't find it... H E L P :0
@Blue I live in the U.S and I pre-ordered from Kraft Music on the 7th of Jan and I got it yesterday. I love it!!! it's a game-changer, so many thing you can do with it as you can tell by Video tutorial above make sure you sub to this channel cause he already made some great content on Wavestate. I made this Dark crazy sound using one Key on the keyboard and just messing with the mod knobs soundcloud.com/darkicepresents/logicsys-darkside-of-a-wavestate
This tutorial gave me so many fulfilling "a-ha!" moments. It's really helped make more sense of the Wavestate workflow for me. Thanks so much. Please do more!

This was an absolutely incredible tutorial showing me ways to make use of lane presets and performances. Thank you for making this video!

Thanks 4 the intuitive teaching skills of your videos opens my mind very inspirational

Clearest presentation of this machine's workflow on the internet. Well done!

Now if only my back ordered Wavestate would arrive.
Everyday I don't see it has shipped in my email, is torture.
I can't believe RTFMing didn't lead me to the vector volume control. I knew there was an easy way to do that... I must have over looked it!
Thank you!!! This piece of machinery is insanely capable, however, not the easiest to learn so this tutorial unlocks a lot !
This was such a great tutorial! I was always wondering about a hold function for all those parts and apparently the hold button only works in arpeggiator mode. So seeing that you can easily switch on hold per part is a great relief.
Awesome video. Answered my question about true multi-timbrality, keyboard splits, etc.. Thanks!
Thanks just got mine yesterday after waiting 2months to get in stock haha this is why I got this to do these amazing sounds
this is exactly what i needed! pls do more wavestate tutorials!
Very useful! Thanks!
Outstanding tutorial and demo of the Wavestate capabilities! 😎👍
Thanks Rob

ESPECTACULAR POR FIN ALGUIEN QUE EXPLICA MUY BIEN COMO HACER UNA BUENA PERFORMANCE.. SENSILLAMENTE EXELENTE !!!!
This is amazing! You're a genius! It sounds so good! Thank you! 💙
Cheers Derek
Outstanding tutorial. THANKS!
Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!
This is an awesome tutorial for the wavestate! I think this will enable me to do my first little live session very soon :)

Excellent demo, much appreciated.
Extremely helpful! Thanks!
Great video. I'll find this useful once I get my Korg Wavestate.
Can't wait for Tutorial #4!
Great tutorial, I've learnt a lot, thanks. How about diving into modulation next.
You really know how to be cruel to those who are waiting for that box to arrive 😉
IKR. I have to wait until June, and it's making me crazy LoL
Learn how to use it before it arrives! bonus!

Thank you for such a great tutorial!
Very helpfull demo thanks!
brilliant Mate, Cheers !!
I liked your approach pick something and go with it It was not so confusing
Very useful, thanks a lot!!!!

Great job - we’d love to hear more!
Great job and sounds beautiful but looks a bit complicated. I'll be purchasing one of these very soon and can't wait to dive in.
Thanks, Rick, we are sure you will love the Wavestate as much as we do..
Looking Perfect !!!!!!!
Very useful. Thanks

Very cool but how do you save your performance on the keyboard?
Mine doesn't have a drum category....is that something that I need to download?

Hello congratulations for the video, you are great, could you send me the track in mp3? thank you
crazy Q: when you have HOLD on a couple of layers.... how do you stop the whole track without going back and turning HOLD = OFF ?
We are pretty sure those layers with hold enabled will just loop or sustain indefinitely. You can either deactivate the layer(s) or change patch. Or edit the layer.
question: is it possible to copy a sound from Layer A to Layer B? Tnx.

Hey Sonya … you hold enter and then press tap tempo and the master tempo window appears! Hope this helps
Lol. If I could only understand it that quickly. Great vid however. Please morph me your knowledge. I’ll buy dinner....🤣
Just rewind anytime and do it step by step! that's what I'm doing and i got mine yesterday

You are showing it so fast that is very confusing.I’m sorry that I’m very beginner but yea too f fast,i get lost even at 0’75 speed
Not so fast🥴i am over 60 and from germany🤣😂
