This is cool asf. The next synth will not only write music for us, but license and distribute it for us, too. Korg will also collect a 100% royalty and seize ownership of any and all Grammy statuettes awarded to every customer who co-wrote the records.
There have been so many new synths coming out recently that my GAS is nearing the breaking point! I can't take it anymore. I pre-ordered the Wavestate with the assumption that I can ignore all the rest of the unannounced synths, from Behringer and others, for at least a short while... :P
I picked up an original Wavestation back in 1990, it was an absolute freakin’ blast to jam with it. I wish it had taken less than 30 years, but the Wavestate looks like a worthy 2nd Generation of the Wavestation, and right now my only issue is how to get it in the house without my wife killing me.
Have the same problem mate, leave everything in the car, and wait till she´s in bathroom. Run as hell, bring it inside, put it on place in studio and just pretend it was all the time there, cheers!!!!
One advantage of my better half having no interest in my synths and thinking they 'all look the same' means, it gets easier to sneak things into my setup. She is starting to question why we need 14 lodgers staying in our room to help pay the bills!
I'm excited, I love the Wavestation, it was a bit of a nightmare at times though, the Wavestate looks like it's simplified some of that nightmarish process though which is nice
Amazing .. I've got one but never found some of these sounds. Would have been helpful if you guys had said which patch was being used each time. It's not really visible even when the screen is in view. Thanks
Instant purchase for me, but I have to be that one guy who would have loved a module version. Anyway, it gets the honor of being my only synth with keys.
Is there a list of patches? Does it have hip hop drums? or strings? or organs? or epiano? or brass? or flutes?? or just a bunch of weird sounds? I would love a fit in your lap workstation with quantizing, 16 tracks. This is the closest thing I have found!
I'm going to make a hard prediction that Korg is going to wait to see how the Wavestate is going to be received by the general public first and if all goes well in terms of sales they're going to release the Rackmount Wavestate A/D and the Wavestate EX 61 key version with even more presets, user audio sampling and a external XLR microphone for a built in vocoder. It seems like the logical path to take because these features that have been on the wish list of many hardcore Wavestation users for years and Korg knows this to be true. I belive the Wavestate will do well I know I will be buying one.
Corey Davis Yes, a rack would be awesome, and I agree with your theory on how Korg will expand this. Hopefully will do something like you say. Will wait a bit to see.
I am so confused can someone tell em if you can just control all the pitches and rythm of premade samples/sequences or can you actually make a sequence from the note up ?
Wavestate takes after workstations more, complete with more sequencing than the wavetable synths and more acoustic sounds for much broader sonic palette up to a point. Hydrasynth and Argon8 still have their place, they are more specialized in electronic sounds than Wavestate and make them in higher quality.
Ehm... NO... it's a completely different thing... the others are VA and you can synthetize a sound starting from single osc then filter mod effects... this is more an evolved sampler/sequencer...
10:29 Please tell me I'm wrong but, I almost bet the Reface´s mini keys are better than the ones on the Wavestate. Aside from that, yeah, I'd love to have one.
Hi, i have a question. This may sound basic but i was just wondering if i can connect a 61 note midi keyboard and then be able to play all the notes from the korg?, I think i got that backwards ,but you know what i mean.
With 16gigs of samples onboard and all the original wavestation samples what's not to love. Made some great tunes with the original back in the 90's. :)
Looks amazing, priced very competitively I’m definitely getting one great job lads. Roland take a look at how it’s priced Jupiter Xm £1250 with mini keys I think they are just winding people up on purpose now, surely.......
I'm so close to pre-ordering this. I really just have three questions keeping me from buying it. 1) Yes the presets are awesome, how hard will that be to program? 2) How well does it play with other synths/gear? 3) Does each layer have its own MIDI? In general how does MIDI work on something this complex?
as no one replied earlier; got one a few weeks back second hand as many people are unable to get it (its completely different than any other synth to master), however new 2.0 software is very very good and you need to read the manual. Also you can add your own samples !!!!! but for a 1) its a complex beastie with unlimited potential (while my Rev 2 is very complex but fits in the analogue box so general subtractive tips and tutorials work while Wavestate is its own thing else entirely ) 2) Sounds amazing with my REV2 16V and compliments it well with its unique sampled abilities. 3) all 4 layers are controllable with midi and actually I run it through the REV2 keyboard (which is the highest quality I have) as it has midi after touch but no built into the small keyboard itself. Hope this helps. 2.0 has made this twice as powerful in my mind as it opens up its features to being much more accessible.
I wish the peoples from Korg would make a wavestation editor for my old Korg Wavestation EX.. which works with Windows 10. The old 32bit versions of that seems not to work
I really want one of these. Awesome demo. But I'm hesitating. I have an Arturia Keylab 88 MKII, and perhaps I could get access to these sounds via the Korg Collection?
Aquatic Borealis some of them yes, although I think the korg collection has an emulation only of the original wavestate. Even with that you'll be missing lots of the sounds, the mind numbing modulation options on this thing and the randomization options. If you like the sounds it makes, aren't afraid of a bit of menu diving then for the price I would (and did) buy it. You'll want to stick with your keylab 88 as the keybed, but that'll let you take really good advantage of the key split, Multi timbrality of this synth.
Yeap...so, it's clearly all about 'sound', heavenly emotional sound/sound that is so alive. And that is excactly what your brain, your whole body, all your senses and everything else that is alive in you, 'wants'!
When these two get together - like a lads night out 👊
Omg these two lovely chums are together again!? I'm going to grab some popcorn real quick! 😄🎹🎶
Thanks for the video, people! It looks like a very fun synth, with a suprising amount of power and flexibility!
Hell yes!!
This is long waiting for thirty years since Wavestation. Like a Father like a son.
12:15 Rey's Theme! Awesome!
20:32 Luke From Korg starts playing Silence Unbroken from the Skyrim soundtrack, one of the songs that plays while your in the caves! What a sly dog!
This is cool asf. The next synth will not only write music for us, but license and distribute it for us, too. Korg will also collect a 100% royalty and seize ownership of any and all Grammy statuettes awarded to every customer who co-wrote the records.
Always a pleasure to see you both checking out Korg stuff... ;-)
Finally! Some demo that said it has key split. I asked this question over and over and got no answer. Key split makes this even better.
I want a whole channel of just these two interacting. Don't even have to play piano! =) Also that synth is pretty great as well.
The world could not handle a channel with just these two... 😉
Superman!
John Williams is smiling.
wAhEy! The dream team for an Andertons Korg vid :)
Finally i can play The X-Files theme correctly.. Great synth from Korg
There have been so many new synths coming out recently that my GAS is nearing the breaking point! I can't take it anymore. I pre-ordered the Wavestate with the assumption that I can ignore all the rest of the unannounced synths, from Behringer and others, for at least a short while... :P
Wait for it....
These two....you know it’s going to be great when these two get together.
I had an EX many years ago but sold it. Miss it but with this thing I have a reason to sort of buy it back (with added bells & whistles). Gimme!
This is insane 🙏🏼I cannot wait to get one 💛
If my eyes were closed this would actually remind me of my old Korg Karma. The algorithmic generation of that beast made for huge soundscapes.
best sounding synth ever. i picked on up and couldn't be happier. Thanks for this video...
Just bought one today; it’s on the way; can’t find words to describe this maschine
Was waiting for this :)
Yes, Jack - you do you!
This thing sounds amazing! Getting one for definite!!
And thank you to you , to demonstrate multiple possibilities of this instrument !!!
Always great fun!
Thank you for this video!!!
I love your vids, Jack!!!
Amazing synth
You’ve scored an entire film soundtrack in this video!
Korg does it for me with almost every piece of gear they release. This might be one of the more exceptional ones.
great demo guys, kinda amusing to hear Luke describing it as sounding fresh and modern when it sounds identical to my 1990 EX :)
Wrong woody....this outclasses the old one by far.....
it has the same sounds, and Korg added more
Lol...yeah, no.
You two crack me up. Great video
Sounds good!
Brilliant sounding keyboard.
I've bought one korg wavestate !!! it's amazing , fantastic for playing cinematic music . I was looking for that thank you KORG !!!!
Luke and Jack, dynamic duo. Luke is a one man house band with the wavestate
Love it
This one is a definite must buy for me. My namesake shows off the capabilities of this synth excellently. I'm sold
I love when Jack says: Come on! ....something good is going on! 👍🏼 Great wavebox korg! 🤟🏼
great instrument, funny boys going into impressing conversation. please more like this!
Great Video!
The dream team back @ it again 🔥

Hey, honey look what found just laying on top on my car?! I waited to see if someone was going to come back for it but they never showed up. 😕
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One advantage of my better half having no interest in my synths and thinking they 'all look the same' means, it gets easier to sneak things into my setup. She is starting to question why we need 14 lodgers staying in our room to help pay the bills!
20:39 Barrow music from Skyrim!!
What a ninja...
He played that for a Kross2 demonstration, too.
Can't wait to see the Wavestate SE that just released!
Just got one today. It is amazing for the price!
In the chassis of a prologue 16 61Key would’ve been beautiful love, still to be commended for full sized key-bed.
I'm excited, I love the Wavestation, it was a bit of a nightmare at times though, the Wavestate looks like it's simplified some of that nightmarish process though which is nice
This thing looks pretty cool. I might have to pick one up.😮
Korg is after our ££££££;-))))).And we will be the pray.Great releases Korg.
These guys need to star in their own synth sitcom.
A korg sempre arrebenta!!!!máquina tooooop!!!!
Hahah! Laughing my nutz off at the beginning! Well done! Killing killing KILLING!!!
I appreciate the chill pacing of this. There's more to a review than cramming all the features in.
Imaging using only percussive samples. It’s like an idm dream machine
Just bought one from the mighty Andertons well excited
Amazing .. I've got one but never found some of these sounds. Would have been helpful if you guys had said which patch was being used each time. It's not really visible even when the screen is in view. Thanks

Cool sonicstate are the defacto reviewers but you take a diffrent approach which i enjoy,Keep it up.
You played the Superman sountrack,I have to get the wavestate now.

I would probably be in that boat, I'd buy it if they make a rackmount version. Not interested in the keyboard version myself.
Sounds great! Dead Can Dance @ 20:39 ? 4-part multi-timbral!!! 🎉
"Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun" vibes for sure
Playing the dungeon music in Skyrim at 20:37 was a real baller move
They playing that Superman theme in every demo lol
I'm buying this 😎😎😎
I am so confused can someone tell em if you can just control all the pitches and rythm of premade samples/sequences or can you actually make a sequence from the note up ?
The boys are back in town! Love the Wavestate, so fresh after all the analog gear. That brass patch is something isn't it?
4.40 made me play Hall of the Mountain Grill, by Hawkwind.
Sometime untill this years christmas i'll buy me a present and i know exactly which one. I love hybrid cinematic sounds - my shtick
What is the basis for the Celeste music segment. Or the theme or track I can't remember. Thanks for any help
LUKE FROM KORG LETS GOOOOO
Korg wavestate have won the battle against hydra synth and modal argon8.
I think the Argon8 sounds smoother which I prefer soundwise.
Wavestate takes after workstations more, complete with more sequencing than the wavetable synths and more acoustic sounds for much broader sonic palette up to a point. Hydrasynth and Argon8 still have their place, they are more specialized in electronic sounds than Wavestate and make them in higher quality.

@@fabioj.w.6185 Wavestate is more for soundscapes and pads.
@@fabioj.w.6185 it's a rompler like you said
You just have to love “Luke from korg”!
Everyone Loves Luke from Korg!
Full sized keys. I'm ordering it now.
10:29 Please tell me I'm wrong but, I almost bet the Reface´s mini keys are better than the ones on the Wavestate. Aside from that, yeah, I'd love to have one.
really drawn to this synth, have to choose between this and the hydrasynth, any opinions on which way I should go?
In some sounds I could listen some "pops" in the audio. Is from audio output of the keyboard?
2:45 Sold! Korg is finally stepping up.
Hi, i have a question. This may sound basic but i was just wondering if i can connect a 61 note midi keyboard and then be able to play all the notes from the korg?,
I think i got that backwards ,but you know what i mean.
You don't need a DAW, wavestate has 5 pin, MIDI in, out. Also has midi over USB.
I have asked other sites, with no answer..... Will this expand THROUGH my M3, and/or my M3 be able to go through this???
With 16gigs of samples onboard and all the original wavestation samples what's not to love. Made some great tunes with the original back in the 90's. :)
Have you done an update on this since they've updated the firmware to 2.0?!
I'd love this in a 5U rack module.. chop off the keys and wheels.. move the joystick.. job's-a-good-un'
ARP 2600 vid will be fun, too :)
can one choose the starting point and ending point of each sample?
This is such a sick synth!
Sounds very korgy. I like this definition.
Any PCM samples of dedicated instruments in it, or just synth sounds?
Looks amazing, priced very competitively I’m definitely getting one great job lads. Roland take a look at how it’s priced Jupiter Xm £1250 with mini keys I think they are just winding people up on purpose now, surely.......

4:35 take my money!!!
The only words I can mutter from my lips, as a single tear drops from my eye, is... TRAP BEAST....
Really cool demo.
Clean sounding synth but still has pretty warm sounds also.
"Ok come on internet full size keys." :D
I wish the peoples from Korg would make a wavestation editor for my old Korg Wavestation EX.. which works with Windows 10. The old 32bit versions of that seems not to work

Polyphony is 64, in stereo!
