I've always felt that knurl and defense nucleus are bad because they do not provide the player with the special attack of the boss they just killed, you know, like every other boss item does? Knurl could easily be made viable in the early game if it shot out a golem laser (the burst damage kind) at random nearby enemies on a 10 second cooldown, which reduces hyperbolically with each additional stack. This on top of the health boosts. Nucleus could be fixed in a similar way by making it more consistent. Remove the on-kill shengai spawns, put it on a timer. If you tank a hit that wipes out more than 25% of your health in a single damage instance, you gain a shield similar to the xi ping, which provides jade elephant damage reduction for 3 seconds and overrides the shengai spawn time to only 1 second for 5 seconds. This 25% hp lost in one instance of damage thing can also be applied to penis loop, so that it is useable at theoretically every point of your hp bar as long as it is not below 25%. This makes it not reward bad gaming, but mistakes that humans would eventually make, like walking into a blazing elite mushrum's acid pool because you were curious if the acid and fire would stack (they obviously would you fucking idiot why did I do that ruined such a good run)
One thing about titanic knurl is that since it boosts life regen, it boosts acrid self healing from the third hit of the primary fire and the bite secondary, since those count as regeneration and not actual healing

I'm gonna mention this for genesis loop real quick; it's fantastic in simulacrum, I'd argue one of the best yellows for that mode void damage allows you to get below the threshold with significantly more control, it's on your terms when you'd like to activate it, and due to the much tighter enemy density, you essentially wipe the entire map at the low cost of playing inside the void for a bit the anti-synergy with watches and the like is less prominent too since, until you stack enough barrier gain, void runs are going to get you below 25% hp fairly frequently if you intend on minmaxxing (dependent on character though) tl;dr, much more control, much more reward, highly recommend
A thing to note about BG is that there is an issue in multiplayer when you enter the Bazaar where the guard will push other players through the floor and the fall damage will kill them. Because of this, it is the worst boss item specifically in eclipse multiplayer.
eh dying in bazaar is not that bad, you respawn in multiplayer next stage anyway, and unless there was a really good red/green and you had scrap for it, youre not missing anything by dying just in the bazaar. also its not like every single time u enter and someone has a bg youll die, it just is a weird bug sometimes. also you can just avoid going to the bazaar if its rlly that big of a deal, only situation i could see this is if someone had a dios or a bunch of watches or something. id still rather have a bg than a defense nucleus in eclipse multiplayer lol
another good combo for the empathy core is the the drones that you can give the equipments to if you give one the reincorcement equipment it just summons abunch of drones with boosts empathy core i believe i might be wrong but i believe thats how that works.
Good ranking, would agree overall with most of the placings. One question though, where would you place newly hatched Zoa in this list if you were to include it. While it’s not a yellow item, I’d consider it a boss item since it corrupts all yellow items.
Probably below empathy cores: 1) The ally spawns are very strong by themselves alongside having an insta wipe martyrdom effect, but that detain will also wipe you if you're not careful 2) Because it corrupts ALL boss items, its actual value may vary by run. On one hand, it would suck so much to lose a shatterspleen or perforator. On the other hand, shungite can be just free zoea stacking.
This helped a lot, i only have like 35 hours in the game and i thought the knurl and drfense nucleus were rly good and that the charged perforator was bad bc of how i had experienced the game
Something extra about the planula now that twisted enemies exist! If you have a couple armor plates with it you invalid the entire new elite even turning their power against them if you have an item that is affected by you getting hit
I've not had a visit to gilded cost take 20 minutes, it is normally 5-10 and the difficulty timer doesn't advance during it. Since there is 4 free chests there it halves the cost to 4 regular chests to enter practically speaking, but the yellow item which is a great anti-boss tool in most cases is at least worth a chest or two making it only practically cost 1-2 chests.
actually the genesis loop can be a great tool for late game considering with everything happening on screen, it can destroy every enemy around you and let you survive for alot longer
ngl I have a newfound love for the Halcyon seed recently. a couple days ago I had a godlike monsoon run where the game, for some reason, gave me around 4 chances to go to gold coast. combined with my run where I had a mod that added an item called the "Relic of Termination" (Tldr, spawn a buffed enemy that guaranteed drops an item if you kill it fast enough) that triggered on Aurelionite which tripled the drop of the Halcyon seed on my first trip(but just killing her when she was buffed up like that was pain)... by the time I got to Mitherix, I had 7 of them and when she showed up in phase 3... I actually forgot I had 7 of them, barely processed she spawned, and then watched as she kicked Mitherix's teeth in as I die of laughter. Doubt I'll get a run like that in a long time.
Something I feel you missed with Shatterspleen was that the Crit bleed it applies is counted as separate from Tri-Tip Needle bleeds. So, on proc builds on characters like Commando and Captain can apply 2 stacks of bleed per hit, instead of 1. Not huge or anything, but it does just make it even stronger than you described for those sorts of characters. Also, yeah, it can take a while to get the Halcyon Seed in real time (especially if you're unlucky have get bad items), but while you're in the Gilded Coast, the timer doesn't move, so you effectively get a free boss enemy to aid you for teleporters and 4 chests for free, in terms of the in-game timer.
My opinion on boss items is basically this. 5 items are good - irradiant, spleen, little d and perforators. Empathy cores are situational. The rest are yellow scrap, that's all
Pre-dlc (on xbox) I was playing bandit and on my second loop, molten and charged perforator caused a proc chain that was a bit buggy, so it spawned an infinite loop of lightning strikes, fireballs and ATG missiles that crashed my game because 10 of each spawned about every frame, causing damage number of 20,000,000 and frame rates of -20,000,000. My xbox crashed.

Mmm, ost from Night in the Woods! Great video by the way, really useful. Thank you!
came for the tier list, stayed for the Night in the Woods music
So glad you mentioned gloop on engineer.
I've cleared void seeds before by dropping my turrets into the edge of one and waiting for the Gloop
nah as a engineer main, my favorite and the yellow which im always looking to get is the jellyfish yellow and it just feels good when it happens and can help in times of need. Also its very op on the turrets you can make (for engineer)
Molten Perforator is a funny one, because ot can literally be a run ender if your machine (or Switch) can't handle it.
I was having one of those lv +20 runs and accidently picked it up and ended up quitting out of it when I was now periodically going a dozen seconds or more per frame thanks to all the additional visual clutter that wasn't even hitting anything.
3:25 yooo night in the woods music? Damn disputed I didn't know you were chill like that
Gotta love him showcasing Molten Perforator being second best, and the footage shown looks like it does ZERO damage to anything lol
Coming from your other vids most of your commentary was pretty clean so to hear the plain, deadpan delivery of “…if ya like fuckin’ and suckin’ mirred urn is for you” caught me totally off guard.
marble blast ultra ost is crazy
genesis loop doesn’t reward you for playing poorly, it saves you when you do bad so that you have breathing room to get back to max health
Meta makes ror2 a bit less fun, silly builds and items like genesis loop coming in clutch when you don't expect it is really fun especially with friends
10/10 would comment on again
(to help out the epic ROR2 youtuber of all time)
Bruh how could you not mention that the shatterspleen synergizes with needle tick? Shatterspleen lets you get back the ability to bleed, so you can have both collapse and bleed potential.
@@shaunhayes3072Tf do you mean counter synergy? 2 debuffs instead of 1. you can't get both a shatterspleen and a tri tip bleed at the same time, but you can shatterspleen and collapse at the same time
@@ThePizzabrothersGamingSpleen and tri-tips actually stack bleed independently of each other, so characters that can use bleed would rather be getting 2 stacks of bleed per hit than 1 bleed and 1 collapse
@@rhodey_37that is no longer true, they fixed it so you can't get more than 1 bleed stack per hit
thank you for just jumping into the content
I've found myself happy to pick up Titanic Knurl on early stage as I'm currently on Eclipse 11. Can't say no to any form of regeneration that isn't halved
I love your ranking videos, even when I disagree with you!
I'm gonna mention this for genesis loop real quick;
it's fantastic in simulacrum, I'd argue one of the best yellows for that mode
void damage allows you to get below the threshold with significantly more control, it's on your terms when you'd like to activate it, and due to the much tighter enemy density, you essentially wipe the entire map at the low cost of playing inside the void for a bit
the anti-synergy with watches and the like is less prominent too since, until you stack enough barrier gain, void runs are going to get you below 25% hp fairly frequently if you intend on minmaxxing (dependent on character though)
tl;dr, much more control, much more reward, highly recommend
night in the woods ost in the background, very epic
i remember one time getting a yellow to lunar printer on the same stage as a cleansing pool, walked out that stage with 30 irradiant pearls.
these tip videos are so good for helping improve rapidly
0:36 for some reason the xi construct violently shakes at me and it always happens. The laser is extremely inaccurate and barely hits me.
Holy fuck, ancient memories are flooding back into my brain after hearing the Marble Blast Ultra soundtrack lmaooooo
I am commenting to manipulate the video in the algorithm!
I really liked the background footage for this video. Not sure what mods you're using, but the game looks very pretty!
I’m commenting to help the video and the algorithm 👍
sorry babe, new Disputed Origin video just dropped... You'll have to find a ride home cuz it's time to listen to gramps cook
shatter spleen plus needle tick is amazing
can still do bleeds and the collapse damage
super fun combo
and void crit on bandit with those is DISGUSTING
Genesis Loop is also really good for Artificer using the leap ability because you can easily stall midair and use the ability without much risk
another good combo for the empathy core is the the drones that you can give the equipments to if you give one the reincorcement equipment it just summons abunch of drones with boosts empathy core i believe i might be wrong but i believe thats how that works.
Good ranking, would agree overall with most of the placings. One question though, where would you place newly hatched Zoa in this list if you were to include it. While it’s not a yellow item, I’d consider it a boss item since it corrupts all yellow items.
Probably similar to happiest mask on most survivors, higher on engie
Probably below empathy cores:
1) The ally spawns are very strong by themselves alongside having an insta wipe martyrdom effect, but that detain will also wipe you if you're not careful
2) Because it corrupts ALL boss items, its actual value may vary by run.
I was laughing at some guy getting jumpscared by a defense nucleus, and then I got jumpscared by tartar sauce.
Something extra about the planula now that twisted enemies exist! If you have a couple armor plates with it you invalid the entire new elite even turning their power against them if you have an item that is affected by you getting hit
Just realized the background music from a game I played, Marble Blast Ultra.
Otherwise, epic video
Commenting to poke the algorithm and to show appreciation for the video.
I've played 280 hours of this game and I never knew there was an item called defense nucleus. This game really does keep on giving.
Halcyon seed is actually just #1 if you like revenge stories because nothing is more satisfying seeing gold boy take revenge on Mythrix in phase 4.
I would hate on Defense Nucleus more, but spare drone parts makes them so much fun lol
ngl I have a newfound love for the Halcyon seed recently.
a couple days ago I had a godlike monsoon run where the game, for some reason, gave me around 4 chances to go to gold coast. combined with my run where I had a mod that added an item called the "Relic of Termination" (Tldr, spawn a buffed enemy that guaranteed drops an item if you kill it fast enough) that triggered on Aurelionite which tripled the drop of the Halcyon seed on my first trip(but just killing her when she was buffed up like that was pain)...
by the time I got to Mitherix, I had 7 of them and when she showed up in phase 3...
Also, yeah, it can take a while to get the Halcyon Seed in real time (especially if you're unlucky have get bad items), but while you're in the Gilded Coast, the timer doesn't move, so you effectively get a free boss enemy to aid you for teleporters and 4 chests for free, in terms of the in-game timer.
since the DLC you cannot roll both shatterspleen and tritip bleed on the same hit
Where is artifact key gramps? Is the dementia kicking up again?
My opinion on boss items is basically this. 5 items are good - irradiant, spleen, little d and perforators. Empathy cores are situational. The rest are yellow scrap, that's all
Hal-see-on Halcyon
Bro got that NitW ost in the background. Amen, brother.
(At about 5 minutes)
Based Night in the Woods background music
yes man do more videos like this very cool hope the algorithm sees this and thinks daaaamn nice comment gonna boost this video no punctuation needed
Egocentrism x Cleansing Pool crossover of the century.
3:41 for this item I’d also recommend the item that doubles healing. The red item I believe. I think it works great as a combination.
He never misses! The absolute legend!
love you uncle!!!! showing this to my grandson
4:38 It's pronounced "hal-see-uhn". It's a real word that's also a genus of bird :D
I like planula with hellfire, its one of the most fun builds and acually really good if paired with razor wire
i was playing earlier and my beetle guard killed me because it was void touched
I like turning on artifact of command and artifact of honor, then getting a bunch of Defense Nuclei.
