To be honest my friend, I really wanted to see and hear it .... but I am a Silvergamer +45 years. You talk so fast and so much that I can not really follow ... or want to. I wish you all the best and I'll meet you on the battlefield ;-)
I really appreciate the top 10 lists. Not because "oh I wanna know what item is better" moreso listening to to your nuanced reasoning to what makes items better or worse is really helpful. Also just love eating rice and watching Disputed Origin
Fun fact about ghors tome: if you leave a chunk of gold dropped from an enemy until just before teleporting to the next stage you can pick it up and it wont change into XP, basically giving you a free chest on the next stage after killing two or three enemies
I personally really like tier list vids and I don’t know why. I guess it’s fun to see how differently people consider items compared to one another and they’re also nice to listen to while playing games.
5:04 ITS GODDAMN CIPHER AHHHHHHHH for context, I used to use this song as my way to calm down. I started hearing it in more and more videos. Its become my own personal among us
It makes sense that the bands synergise so well since they are wedding rings, they’re fantastic individually but together they elevate each other to reach a higher potential
It's funny how massive the quality range of green items is. You have some of the best items in the game, but also when I'm scrapping stuff I basically always end up with more total green scrap than white scrap. Yes, even despite the fact that green items are rarer overall.
good list, I feel like either fuel cell, ruckler or predatory definitely deserved to be in the honorable mentions though as they are fairly solid options on just about every character and can be useful on most runs
@@shaunhayes3072 fair, I feel like all of them are usually more useful than something like guillotine though which I essentially always scrap, the other items have some use cases for me atleast, preds is pretty much half a crit glass + 2,5 syringes and can be a nice addition on most survivors once you have a lil bit of crit fuel cell obviously relies on ur equipment but it can really up ur damage output in a couple of cases like FMP, makes playing around recycler a lot quicker and can allow pillar skips with egg, also never feels bad on stuff like capacitor - considering how many bad greens there are I prefer keeping fuel cells on most runs unless its to hit thresholds for soup or if I have a better green printer on the same stage I barely ever loop though so maybe I underrate the honorable mentions and specifically guillotine
@@sunriizecloudz Yea, I understand the underrating of guillotine; If ya don't loop then ya barely get any elites, but once ya loop and get a few guillotines then ooo boy, it makes it a heck of a lot better for ya, especially with one of the artifacts where everything's elite, can't remember its name.
Keep it up! Honestly I kinda like the top 10's, you're quick to the point and the format is neat and concise. Obviously I wouldn't want this for every video but I think it's very fitting for each category of items.
Cliche as top 10s are, they are fun watches and they definitely help newer players get a better idea of what to pick up or what an item exactly does. With your style of top 10s in particular you get right to the meat of things and I love that.
You grossly misuse word "exponential" in this video, you are mathematically incorrect: -- Gasoline scaling is quadratic, not exponential. The final formula is (112,5 * (x^2) + 225 * x + 112,5)% total, where x is a number of gasolines. -- Shuriken scaling is quadratic too. The formula is (10 * (x^2) + 50 * x + 60)% per second on average, assuming that the character has sufficient attack speed to fire shurikens faster than they are reloading. -- Will'o'wisp scaling is linear, when you account the damage against a single target. And even if you somehow try to shoehorn a number of enemies that are damaged by wisp on average, it still be quadratic, maybe polynomial with higher power, but not exponential.
Just started getting into ror2 and it’s nice to see videos like this uploaded with in the last 8 months. I’m someone who will study a game and videos like this are the greatest
I agree with your number 1, 100%. I never feel like my build is complete without one. Unfortunately it always feels like I end up with a few Daisies, Harpoons, Stealth Kits, and War Horns before I get just one Feather. I really want a new way to obtain bonus jumps, like through a void item that corrupts Quails and Feathers alike while providing the effect of a Feather on every stack and just one Quail, no matter the stack. I also would have my top five be of the same items, but in this order: 1. Hopoo Feather 2. Runald's Band 3. Atg 4. Kjaro's Band 5. Ukelele
So top tens are amazing since when I was a newer player it was so hard to find just a simple this is good and why and you’ve done it perfectly and made it entertaining, definitely would love to see more
I love top 10 videos, thank you so much, you should make updated tier lists of characters and items more often since a lot of the content in the internet right now it's not updated and you are the only one updating it
at the end you said that you felt bad about posting top 10s but honestly, they are really helpful and insightful to us new or casual players imo so please continue :)
I genuinely love these videos. Ive been binging them recently to learn more about the items in depth and you do an excellent job making a quick to the point summary of each one. Thankyou for this wonderful content. Hope you can cover alimony
Thanks for these videos! Perhaps they are overdone in general, but as a new player who doesn't have a ton of free time to do all this research or play a lot, this is super helpful to learn the game better!
E6 nerfs your gold income and some enemies on the first two stages won't give gold at all. The Tome bypasses this and the Teleporter nerf. Below is a paragraph from the Wiki about gold: "Enemies that are spawned before the Survivor first arrives on a stage are worth the least. Counter-intuitively, although monsters spawn fastest during the Teleporter event, those enemies are worth significantly less than enemies that spawn before the Teleporter is activated. This is especially true for the Teleporter boss, who will drop hardly any gold. The most valuable and cost-effective naturally-spawned enemies are therefore the ones that spawn around the Survivor while the Teleporter is inactive.”
just found your channel and the first two videos i watched are top 10 lists, and i instantly subscribed. for a person who’s just getting into the game these lists are very useful so keep it up👍
It's funny that you asked about top 10 videos. I was just thinking about that. I think this game is at that point in its lifespan where it's good to have long-tail kind content. Many of us wouldn't understand the numbers (damage, proc coefficients, etc) if we didn't have people like you to explain it to us. :)
I really like the tierlist videos since it gives me an insight as to what a more skilled player looks for in runs, I never thought that Tome was a good item due to losing late game value, really.
I definitely agree on the vertical movement stuff. I'm fairly new to this game and the one time I've beaten Mythrix is with the wing cocoon and artificer basically turning me into an AC130. Also he, unlike the teleporter bosses, freezes with her ice ability, which was very nice
1:41 technically, you don't need the Headstompers to trimp. They help in gaining height and with the stomp attack, but you can trimp with just Wax Quails (or a lot of movement items, or just a lot of speed like in 9:43) and a ramp.
Personally I put ATG at number 1 and Hopoo at 2nd with Bands interchangeable below the two While Hopoo is undeniably powerful I feel like it's usefulness varies too much for it to be number 1 Like how much value are Loader, Huntress, Mercenary, Acrid, etc getting out of one extra jump when they already have so much more in terms of mobility built in While ATG can be used by every survivor in any situation for notable amounts of extra dps while also being a big part of some of the most powerful builds in the game
I personally appreciate these top tens compared to some other ones because they're concise and informative first. I've got hundreds of hours in Risk of Rain 2 but it's always nice to potentially learn something new about the game. The horse you are milking is alive and well.
You said it wrong multiple times so I’ve gotta come in here and say something. It’s not exponential stacking when two stats are increased and multiply together, it’s multiplicative stacking. Exponential is a whole different kind of curve. Stacking shaped glass is exponential bc it doubles the current damage of your character each time, gas just has two independent linear equations multiplied together
The Teleporter and E6 do that, some people picked up on it. From the Wiki below: "Enemies that are spawned before the Survivor first arrives on a stage are worth the least. Counter-intuitively, although monsters spawn fastest during the Teleporter event, those enemies are worth significantly less than enemies that spawn before the Teleporter is activated. This is especially true for the Teleporter boss, who will drop hardly any gold. The most valuable and cost-effective naturally-spawned enemies are therefore the ones that spawn around the Survivor while the Teleporter is inactive."
Getting more gas does not increase the damage of the burn, only the base hit, which does the same damage as the total burn damage of one gasoline. However, I will say, burning more enemies will get you more stacks when you have a ton of weaker enemies softened up and ready to blow up when you want them to, its a nice item to stack but theres definitely better whites for later game. I still enjoy it because it can reveal healthbars behind cover to prevent silly snipes from annoying enemies when you just want to turn around every now and then instead of constantly, like in sundered grove when being pursued by gups.
I started a fresh file for fun and the way I unlocked bands was 20 minutes of struggling on railgunner followed by oneshotting both elder lemurians at once when my charge shot procced ukelele best feeling of my life
Fun video, but none of what you described is actually exponential stacking. If you have n items exponential stacking would mean your power is k^n where k is some number. An example of this is shaped glass where your damage is doubled every time you pick it up. Everything you described increases power by n^2 or n^3 which is still better than linear but not exponential.
I like your top tens because you explain why the things are good with facts and logic, not opinion. Regardless of whether or not I agree with your rankings, I learned more about how the game works.
Love the vid it was great just a small side note does merc really strugle with flying enemies he can either dash up and strick them, dash up and hide inside them, (pause), or throw his alternative ultimate. But still love the vid
I'd say flying enemies are easily Merc's biggest weakness as a character. Most other characters can just shoot them out of the air or otherwise have better ways of dealing with them, but Merc almost always has to commit to using his utility or special just to take down one or two, let alone a whole group of half a dozen or more. It's even worse if you're using the alternate versions of those skills, because you only get a single dash with Focused Assault and you have to actually aim Slicing Winds at them (which is a lot harder against flying enemies than just kind of homing in with Eviscerate).
Great video. A question tho, why does your game sometimes look different, slightly better or different art? Like on the mithrix fight or some stages 1. Is it a mod? Or my computer sucks?
It's usually about control, if you are doing railgunners normal primary fire (no scope) and a shuriken that hits a small enemy, you trigger your bands and lose the ability to hit the big target with more health
good video but you keep mixing up exponential and quadratic exponential is when each additional stack has a strength calculated by multiplying the strength of the previous stack by a number (e.g. shaped glass) whereas quadratic means each stack has a strength calculated by multiplying 2 scaling values together (e.g. shuriken)
In some of the clips used, the lighting, ambience and sky were different from the normal game. Is that a mod, and if so, which one? It looks cool, especially during Mithrix
I don't care if it's actually decent or has good damage or whatever, shuriken is and will always be my LEAST favorite item in the game hands down. The damage feels out of my control and the bastard just loves to proc bands whenever i don't want it to.
BASE damage is just calculated from your character's damage stat. TOTAL damage scales with whatever caused the effect. Example: Let's say an attack does 200% BASE damage. If your damage is 50, that'll be 100 damage. If you then have an effect that does 200% TOTAL damage, it'll multiply that 100 that triggered it, dealing 200 additional damage

3:39 but railgunners sniper shot is hitscan, so it'll always hit before the shuriken does, right?
It's usually about control, if you are doing railgunners normal primary fire (no scope) and a shuriken that hits a small enemy, you trigger your bands and lose the ability to hit the big target with more health
ahh true true true
Fun fact if you shrine of (the one that makes all items one) and get at least 21 (or 31 can’t remember) shurikens, it breaks

Shurikens work well on engineer turrets, get like 5 with a spare scrap box, you have 3 weapons on one turret
good video but you keep mixing up exponential and quadratic
exponential is when each additional stack has a strength calculated by multiplying the strength of the previous stack by a number (e.g. shaped glass) whereas quadratic means each stack has a strength calculated by multiplying 2 scaling values together (e.g. shuriken)
Runald's band also has a 3s 80% slow effect.

whats the diference from TOTAL dmg and BASE dmg?
BASE damage is just calculated from your character's damage stat. TOTAL damage scales with whatever caused the effect. Example: Let's say an attack does 200% BASE damage. If your damage is 50, that'll be 100 damage. If you then have an effect that does 200% TOTAL damage, it'll multiply that 100 that triggered it, dealing 200 additional damage
Total damage is always bigger and can come from other items and Base damage is mostly from your main attack (M1 default).
