The peach blossom looks so beautiful, its truly wonderful how you both celebrate each others hoildays and traditions, wishing both of you happiness and health in this new year 😃
We celebrate midsummer in Sweden ❤️ Traditions include sleeping w 7 different flowers under your pillow so that you will dream of your true love, eating good food like fish & boiled potatoes and dancing around the midsummer pole which is supposed to be a symbol for fertility ❤️
Actually, there is no historical evidence of the midsummer pole being a symbol of fertility. That's just a myth. But yeah, Midsummer is a really nice celebration and I recommend everyone to visit Sweden (and other cultures that celebrate it) during midsummer.
I wanna dream of true love. What are these flowers? Are there specific types of flowers and which time is the best time to do this? jk.......... But I would really like to know for experimental purposes.......
SEEING YOU CELEBRATE THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! Im chinese and this time of year is my favorite!! It isn't the same as it has been in past years because we havent done the full extended family gathering but it makes me super happy to see other people also celebrate it!!!

Literally me too, I have a peach blossom tree in our family garden and every Chinese New Year it blooms and I think of all my family in HK 🥺 I miss it so much
If I need to unplug from the day, I love watching her. I not only learn about this culture, which is amazing, but something about this sweet young lady helps to calm my mind. She’s so sweet and absolutely never wants to offend anyone. She has a gift. I wish them both good luck, fertility, health and love. ☮️❤️😊👩❤️👨
In Finland we celebrate midsummer. Midsummer time we have white nights when sun doesn't set. Also we have bonfires and everyone goes to the midsummer sauna.
i'm watching this video after i saw your last video of your fertility journal and omg!! so sweet that you bought an orchid for this year and it means fertility
Taylor I just want to say I've been following you for a while now and I find you so relatable, I live in Toronto and my husband is Cantonese as well, now he even asks me if you released new videos to watch together 😂 this video reminded him about this beautiful time when he was growing up...we love your energy and personality . wishing you health and happiness in this new year~! ❤️
Chinese New Year looks so fun. I never knew that people put those pretty pink trees inside their house. It’s so festive. Fun time shopping too. Happy New Year everybody!😀🎉
I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. New Years here is usually a 3 day event starting on the last day of the year where many people will clean and even paint the outside of their homes, and ending on the 2nd of jan because traditionally my people the Cape Malay celebrate 2 new years, the 1st is real new years and the 2nd of Jan is what we call "tweede nuwe jaar" (2nd new year) because back during slavery we were not given the day of or allowed to celebrate new years on the 1st and was only given 1 day off a year on the 2nd. So the 2nd became a huge celebration with a parade and festival (think Madi Gras), alot of singing and dancing, live bands in the streets and alot of food.
Also from Cape Town ☺️ moved here from the EC years ago and tweede nuwe jaar was the first thing I thought of when we moved to stricter lockdown again. As far as I know, there isn’t much like it around the rest of the country
In Norway, one of the most important days are "Grunnlovsdagen" (Constitution day) the 17th of May. People dress up in traditional bunads (folk dresses) and we have large parades with marching bands, and its mostly for kids. We eat "koldtbord" and drink Champaign for breakfast. Family and friends come together. Its also big day for the "russ". Russetid is the tradition for the people who graduates from high school. They dress in red or blue pants for a whole month until the 17th, do pranks, decorate and drive around in "russebil"/busses, and party a lot. Thank you for showing this beautiful celebration of the Chinese New Year!
Over the past 3 years, I started implementing traditions for Chinese New Year and learning all about my Chinese heritage. Thank you for educating others about this awesome holiday!
@@JCQLNJRDY probably since it's red for a lucky new year and cows for year of the ox, they must've thought it was too lunar new year themed that we wouldn't want cute things :,(

Taylor, I loved the piano music played between 15:57 - 17:30. So relaxing and beautiful. Your respect for the traditions of Chinese New Year is heartwarming!!
Really enjoyed this video. I loved hearing little snip bits of your husbands upbringing. It’s so nice that you celebrate his culture traditions with so much love. ❤️
We call that 瑞士糖in Cantonese, which literally translates to Swiss candy! I grew up having those during Lunar New Year. I don’t think anyone actually knows the brand name Sugus tho haha
@@IsawsomethingniceCh it's not popular in china, my chinese friends don't even know about it. But very beloved in hong kong. hong kong people love to eat it during the CNY :) tasty
We don't have any Asian heritage but I love exploring Asian culture and I've celebrated Lunar New Year to at least some extent with my daughter since she was little. We are both ox so we did a little extra celebrating this year since it's our year. 😊🐃🧧
I'm so glad that Tom was showing you (and us all) the things about his culture i think it's really beautiful that both of you respect and love your traditions so much and that you both are curious about each others traditions. Thank you for sharing this with us so so so much!!!!! and happy new year ❤️
Ahaha, you're so cute Taylor, you remembered how to say dried sausage in Canto because your hubby likes it. XD Thank you for sharing this celebration with us. It was really interesting to see the new years being celebrated in HK.
I really love learning about Hong Kong's culture/ Chinese culture through your videos!! It makes me want to learn so much more and take part in it! Would love to visit Hong Kong one day because it looks beautiful!
I've been feeling so low and down lately but your videos have me so inspired. I'm living in Japan rn and part of the reason why is because of your vidsss.
These are my favorite kind of videos from you! Showing the culture of your home and relationship. Hope you both had a happy new year! We got an orchard plant and some mandarins for lunar new year 🧧
I honestly found the aesthetic of this vlog so, so beautiful and relaxing 🥰 thank you so much for sharing about Chinese New Year! I don’t have much exposure to the holiday here in the UK so was fascinating to learn more ☺️
Wow this made me nostalgic for New Years with my family, especially the canto. Happy you guys still got to experience all the yummy foods and decorating!
i'm so appreciative of your love and respect for chinese culture. your eagerness to learn about the lunar new year and share that is so nice. being chinese but without chinese parents, i'm learning a lot! thanks taylor & elbow-san!!
Always love how taylor cooks asian inspired food. Even tho she's from s different culture, she really embraced the asian culture in full effect. Feels like she's more Asian than me 🤔

I love this vlog. brings back such great memories. I lived in HK before but now in Canada and with the progressing years and family getting smaller, I don't get to experience the full CNY festivities anymore.
I´m Swedish and live in Sweden. My favorite holiday is Midsummer. It´s in the middle of the summer. It rains like 99% on Midsummer, typical Swedish summer haha. We eat almost the same food on all of our holidays. The food is different from family to family but Swedish meatballs is a must. We eat a lot of salmon, herring, sausages, meat, boiled potato's with dill. I always wear a flower crown, that´s an old tradition. Not everyone wears it but I love flowers so it´s a must for me. Many families go to a park where they have a big pole that looks like a cross but on each side there is two big rings. It´s covered with flowers and everyone is dancing around it. In Swedish it´s called Midsommarstång. You don´t have to celebrate Midsummer with your family, it can be with friends as well :)

I love Thanksgiving here in the USA because people share family recipes. It shows what traditions were passed down from generations even if families are not originally from the USA.

Thank you for making this video. I can't wait to share this with my grand children in America. Now they can visualize how grandma used to celebrate Chinese New Year in Hong Kong as a kid. I had been waiting for a video in English and here we are. Extremely nice of you to do this.

Times will get better because life keeps moving on...Hope we can see more of your videos this year, with all ups and downs! We (I mean myself) missed you and your videos! And loved how we were able to see your transitions, growths and changes since you started RUclips!
It was awesome to see Tom and Rosie in this video more! Thanks for such an informative video. Like you, my family is mixed, so we do a lot of Japanese and Korean new year's traditions as well as American. Though most of what you showed is different some are the same almost which is so interesting to me! Maybe they all have the same origin. Anyway, wishing you and family all the best in the new year.
Thank you Taylor 🙏 for posting this video. Brings back beautiful memories when I used to visit my mom’s family in HK for Chinese new year’s. It has been 4 years I have not been back, but I live vicariously through your RUclips videos...I joined late, but extremely grateful I found your channel. Puts a smile on my face, every time 😊 🇨🇦 YUL
Samhain (Sow-in) is the Wiccan New Year, the festival of light, we too clean & gather together to worship & celebrate with family & friends, it is the day of the year the veil beetween the worlds is thinest so we make altars for departed loved ones & benificial spirits & welcome them into our lives to celebrate with us. I also love Yule & celebrating winter taking time to reflect & sloww down for a bit with the family. I don't see my family as much as I would like too, so big gatherings are my favorite. Happy New to You & Tom!
In America I feel like the tradition is to stay up New Years Eve, and just celebrate all into the next day. I really love that you guys celebrate for so long, and how you have things that mean so much. It’s really cool.
A very enjoyable and educational vlog with awesome music playing throughout. I was happy to see your tree flowered the very next day. Thanks for taking us along!
I live in israel- the most important day is Yom Kippur, but thats the day of attonement and boring and we dont eat anything :P BUT this weekend is a super fun holiday and its my favorite, and usually i dont share but i thought, hey, most of taylors viewers dont know this holiday exists. Very devout people celebrate for the whole month of this holiday, called Purim. theres a bunch of stuff we do but the most important is to have fun. literally, have fun and laugh. Get so drunk and so tired from partying and laughing that you cant even begin to explain the difference between good and evil. Another thing we do is have a huge feast and give gifts with foods from different categories to hand out to people. Its also heavily encouraged to dress up so different that nobody would know who you are! some people even coordinate their costumes with their gifts to match a theme!! The most important though is to just be happy, and the whole country is celebrating their butts off for no real reason
Im half mizrachi half Asian in New York (i gues im double east then lol). I did not talk to my family in awhile but are thry doing anything for purim this year because from Corona.
@@紗多瑠 as of right now there is no lockdown though there are restrictions. Families can have feasts together and most people plan on gathering at parties. my best friend is half ashki, half chinese! she gets best of both worlds

Times will get better because life keeps moving on...Hope we can see more of your videos this year, with all ups and downs! We (I mean myself) missed you and your videos! And loved how we were able to see your transitions, growths and changes since you started RUclips!
Best of luck to both of you this year ❤️
You too! Hope this year is kind to you ❤️
It was awesome to see Tom and Rosie in this video more!
Loved learning about Chinese new year traditions! Thank you for sharing Taylor 💜🙏
I know this is late but HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO YOU GUYSSSS!😄❤❤
Happy New Year! ❤️🧧🎊
Every year at the 1st of January we used to invite friends to walk through the peak, this vid just brings so much memories ^^
The most important though is to just be happy, and the whole country is celebrating their butts off for no real reason
that’s super cool!
Im half mizrachi half Asian in New York (i gues im double east then lol). I did not talk to my family in awhile but are thry doing anything for purim this year because from Corona.
Thank you for sharing. I didn't know this, very nice 👍
@@紗多瑠 as of right now there is no lockdown though there are restrictions. Families can have feasts together and most people plan on gathering at parties. my best friend is half ashki, half chinese! she gets best of both worlds
@@bigkh3 oh that is good to hear. I dont know much about real ashkinazim because in America half of them are like regular white people and other half is charedi.
This was so fun for me to watch you immersed in Tom’s culture and living in Hong Kong. I’m the opposite where I moved from China to Canada and have learned about my fiancé’s culture and traditions.
The celebration looks fabulous. I love the peach blossom tree I wish you had a time lapse camera on it to watch it express itself. Love your channel
I always liked the candied winter melon. It's sweet and just melts in your mouth.
That flowering tree is beautiful, Greek Orthodox easter its at a different time to western easter few weeks before or after , after fasting after church that finishes at midnight we eat greek chicken lemon 🍋 soup its amazing you should try greek chicken lemon soup but add some ( 1/4cup) uncooked rice at start makes it more delicious
Wow thank you for filming how you celebrated! I love learning more about Chinese New Year!! My boyfriend got me an orchid for Valentine’s Day, so kind of cool to learn the new years meaning of it. ❣️
Happy and healthy new year for everyone here! I loved this video but I felt like I wanted more, I hope I can experienced it myself in person one day 🤞
I just always get this beautiful comfort watching Taylor's videos. Just perfection 💕🌸
The wish at 15:24 was perfectly spot on with the inflections! Impressive.
