    I give Greg a lot of grace because he’s 100% on his own. Rose died, he’s estranged from his family and the Crystal Gems don’t understand children. As far as he knows there is no one in existence like Steven, no one to tell him what to expect from a half gem child. For all he knows the second Steven gets to school or goes to a doctor he’s gone, the government is gonna take him away to be experimented on. He was also pretty young and homeless when Steven was born so he was doing his best with very few resources.

    Chaz Finster, aka Chuckies dad deserves A tier. Single father that wants what's best for his son despite himself being insecure and when the other adults encourage him to do new things he reconsiders and is smart to sit out the wildly dangerous stuff.

    • @ToHoldNothing
      @ToHoldNothing 5 месяцев назад

      And I haven't really seen the Rugrats in Paris movie, but I imagine the way they depict Chucky having to come to terms with getting a "new" mom and a new sister would be done well. I think the dad from sing should be a up maybe 1 tier just cause of what he did to apologize. He heard his son singing and enjoy himself and he was so proud to see his son happy he realized what he did and broke out of prison with his bare hands and traveled all the way across town to apologize and tell him he loves him. I dont think it was “my sons famous now” it was more “my son is happy… my son… what have i done…”

  • @silversamurai0267
    @silversamurai0267 6 месяцев назад +38

    The Pharoah wasn't emotionally abusive. His two sons had just TOPPLED A TEMPLE. Probably months of construction were wasted (people might have even gotten hurt or killed) all because his sons were messing around. And then Rameses tries to act like it's not a big deal, when it absolutely is. The only reason Pharoah is harder on Rameses than Moses is because Rameses is the heir and needs to know better, for the sake of his position.
    We, as the audience, only see this one moment between father and sons, and it is a moment where Pharoah has to discipline them for a very, very serious action. That skews our judgement of him, but it's clear that he doesn't *want* to be harsh on them. That's why he takes Moses' advice at the end of the scene to give Rameses a chance to be better.
    He loves his sons and wants them to be responsible men.
    His true failing isn't with Rameses. It's with Moses. He loves Moses as his son, but the moment he says, "They were only slaves" in reference to the mudered babies, he proved that his love for Moses was conditional (on the condition that Moses was HIS son, and not the son of a slave) and that he had no empathy for those below him.
    That was the only moment he did anything wrong, on screen, in regards to being a father. Honestly, had my kids toppled a temple I would have handed them both over to help with reconstruction. I would NOT have put them in charge of it. If anything, I'd say Pharoah probably *spoiled* them nore than anything.

    • @ToHoldNothing
      @ToHoldNothing 5 месяцев назад +4

      He definitely took a position that would lead to more maladaptive behavior from his sons, particularly Rameses, but Moses as well in the sense that he feels that he's always going to be second to his brother that has Pharaoh's blood lineage

    i wanna talk abt mayor dewey rq- he was a good dad!! buck was very embarrassed by him but there was a really good moment in an episode i think called "guitar dad" where buck prints stevens advertisement of his dads new guitar lessons on shirts. steven thinks he did it out of good will then finds out he was using it as a meme and finds an old drawing buck made as an ad for his dad being mayor and prints it on a shirt. he launches the shirt at mayor dewey with a t shirt launcher (i think, its been a long time) and mayor Dewey sees it and starts to tear up, saying something like "i havent seen this in years"
    I think it shows how much buck loved and looked up to his dad being the mayor and its just a really sweet moment between them

    Even if it would've been at the end, I think Mr. Ping (Po's dad/the goose) should have been S-tier. His worst moments come from the start of the first movie, but at the end, he does realize how much kung fu means to his son. The second movie, enough said. Plus the little detail where he told Po in the first movie that he used to dream about cooking tofu, and like his son following his dream and pursuing kung fu, he now sells tofu at the noodle shop. I haven't seen the 3rd movie, only bits and pieces, but while Ping starts out as a jealous dad he does have that really poignant line that "it doesn't mean less for me, it means more for Po". He has his slip-ups but there's nothing truly detrimental, and his positives are VERY positive.

      @@angelzavala2254Orel's not perfect and has done some bad things, but he tries to be a good person. It's just that a lot of the adults in his life, esp his family, ESP his dad, give him terrible advice and lessons and he often either misinterprets it or uses the bad advice he's given. And he's also like 12, so I don't think he can held to the same standards as an adult. I think the ending makes it clear he does break the cycle of misery his family was stuck in and is a generally good person.

    The problem with Wendy’s dad is the same as with Ramses dad, he gets 1-2 scenes of screen time. The thing is the film came out in the 1950s and as a working father he seems to be doing well for his family. Sure he doesn’t appear to be a great father, but with his salary he’s got the family a flat in downtown London. He’s probably too busy during the daytime to get to know his children due to his important job paying for the sizable townhouse.

    If Iroh and Bandit got less than S tier it would be a crime!!! It's too bad they don't remember any of the pony dads. Rainbow's dad was a helicopter parent, so was her mom, like Rainbow was their only child and they were sure that their kid was the best kid no matter what she did and they lavished praise and affection on her. Fluttershy's dad was just a pushover, like he seems like he doesn't have a single mean hair or feather on his body but as a result he lets Fluttershy's younger brother be a dropout who takes advantage of his parents. We don't see Cheese Sandwich talk to his kid but it's implied that he along with Pinkie plays with him and takes him on adventures and they love each other and Lil Cheese is just the happiest kid so I'm sure Pinkie and Cheese Sandwich are great parents just based on that. Twilight's dad, yeah, we don't get to see much of his parenting but he seems bland but nice and supportive and he cares about his kids and shows up for their big achievements and ceremonies. Shining Armor, yeah he's a good dad but he can't control his (alicorn) kid. Bright Mac, well he's definitely a great husband and Big Macintosh and Applejack remember him very fondly but D for Dead, we don't get to see him as a dad at all.

    1:14:43 Yeah, _Aladdin_ is one of those Disney movies that really feel like a Gilbert & Sullivan opera, along with _The Little Mermaid_ and _The Princess and the Frog,_ where half the plot consists of quibbling over rules and regulations, and finding fun little loopholes thereabouts.
    In particular, even though I often compare _Aladdin_ to _The Mikado_ in terms of character relationships and how they both harshly comment on authoritarian society, the ending of _Aladdin_ really reminds me of the ending of _Iolanthe,_ where the plot gets resolved by a measly change in the law that could have been done *ages* prior.

    26:22 That is monolo’s son, his name is Carlos Sanchez. Incase you don’t know his story I will tell you.
    So it all started in the beginning of the book of life movie when he shows monolo as a kid his mothers grave. Then a couple of minutes later after monolo as a kid tries to attack the bull to help Maria, Carlos told monolo that “In order to impress meria you have to become a bullfighter that is through the Sanchez family generations.” Then when monolo grows up, he is still interested in music. He told his dad that killing the bull is wrong. When Maria came back, there was the bull fighting tournament. It was the bull fighting battle between juacien and monolo. Monolo’s dad gave him the sword and said “Do it, kill it, for the family.” But monolo refused to do it. So then his dad told him to never become the son he loved and never become a bullfighter. So then a couple of scenes later when Carlos looked at his son’s grave, a couple of bad guys wet invading the town. He tried to defeat them, but the he quickly died. He became a freaking skeleton and watch monolo as a skeleton in the tournament to defeat a giant bull in order to get his Alive body back. When monolo sang the apology song with his guitar and defeated the giant skeleton bull, monolo’s dad then realize that he regret on what he did to his son. He realize that he has to let go of the generation let monolo decide. Then in the end, monolo became alive and end up marrying meria. Carlos reunited with his dead wife while still being becoming dead.
    So I would have to say at least a b tier.

    I’m only saying this because I saw Frollo go by: in 2022, my sister, mom, and I went to go see a play of _The Hunchback of Notredame,_ and her director played Young Frollo. She said it was weird to see him almost throw Baby Quasimodo into the well.
    I know it’s absolutely NOT important, but I still find it funny.

    Id say big daddy is a good dad because of how Lottie turned out, spoiled? Yes. But kind, not racist despite the time period and how it was much more socially acceptable to be that vile, she wasn't absolutely selflish, she wanted to marry a prince her whole life, she wanted to be a princess so badly, yet when the opportunity is there croaking right infront if her, the second her friend has expressed that she loves him (met the real him first and got to know him) she cries tears of joy not saddness her friend found true love and she couldnt be happier for her and she gives up her dream for Tianas happiness and even gets desperate and upset that she wasn't able to fix it for her and give Tiana that happily ever after Lottie KNOWS Tiana deserves, so yes spoiled but not rotten, if Lottie came out how she did he must of been one hell of a dad in my book, its hard to both spoil someone and make sure they aren't selfish or mean/cruel, big daddy deserves at least B tier.

    I find it so weird how much Piccolo gets ranked way above Goku in terms of being a Dad. Like at best, Piccolo should be on the same tier as Goku.
    In terms of both characters raising Gohan: Goku spends four/five years raising his son before DBZ starts.
    Sacrifices his own life saving his son against Raditz. Trains with Gohan for three years before the androids show up. Spends a whole year in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Gohan. Deliberately chooses to spend time with Gohan instead of training in the week leading up to the Cell Games. And he ultimately sacrifices his own life to save Gohan when Cell is about to self destruct.
    Piccolo on the other hand: Forces Gohan to survive on his own in the middle of nowhere for half a year and trains him for the second half of the year(I’m aware that Piccolo was watching over him somewhat during those first six months, but Gohan wasn’t aware of this fact so I don’t know how much this actually leans in Piccolo’s favor). Selflessly sacrifices his own life to save Gohan against Nappa. Finally, He trains with Goku and Gohan for three years before the androids show up.
    Now I imagine that people are going to raise some extra points, so I’ll address them here:
    “Gohan asks for Piccolo to make his Gi like his own instead of Goku’s Gi.”
    Gohan in the Buu saga asks for Kibito to make his Gi like Goku’s so this point is essentially nothing.
    “Piccolo saves Gohan and the others against Frieza.”
    Goku saves his son against the likes of Nappa, the Ginyu Force, and Frieza as well.
    “What about the Senzu bean and Cell?”
    Goku flat out states that Cell is stronger than him. Goku gave Cell the Senzu bean so Gohan would actually get backed against a wall and unleash his rage, a rage that both the characters and the audience have seen time and time again. If Gohan hadn’t have gone Ssj2 during the fight, the Earth would have been destroyed. Not to mention, when Goku is told by Piccolo that Gohan doesn’t fighting, Goku realizes his mistake and tells Krillin to give him a Senzu bean, showing that Goku was willing to go in and fight Cell to save Gohan. It was only when Cell stole the Senzu beans and made the Cell Jrs. that both Goku and Piccolo had no opportunity to help. So when Cell is about to blow up everyone and the Earth, Goku sacrifices himself and apologizes to Gohan before teleporting Cell away. Even in the afterlife, Goku inspires and cheers Gohan on during the Father-Son Kamehameha.
    Long story short: Both characters probably go in B tier if you would ask me, with Goku being in high B and Piccolo in middle B.

      Good you based most of the good points on the cell saga, but i still think goku gambling the odds of the battle on those decisions is against what you propose. Goku was "present" on the early years before DBZ, but most of the Chichi (Milk) rants where about Goku been irresponsible keep training outside the house. Overall, even if the writting was not consistent, Goku expects from other do thier best to keep up but didnt catch up with gohan interest in life. That was coming more from Piccolo because he took his time with the boy. Personally, i put Piccolo as best parent figure/relative, but im agree to keep both on the same tier.

    I think Goku is a better dad than people think. I mean, just look back at what happened to him.
    At the start of the Saiyan Saga, he died, so he couldn't be there for his son, then when he came back to life he saved his son then was hospitalized! So he couldn't do much, but still squeezed in some time to go fishing with his son. After recovering he traveled to the planet his son was on and saved his life again, and got hospitalized again.
    I don't remember if they ever explained why he didn't let the Dragon bring him back to Earth, that was one moment where I can blame him for not being around on his own will.
    Then right as he gets home he's informed that Androids are coming to kill everyone so he needs to focus on that, and when that's all done he's dead again.
    Even after he comes back Gohan is already an adult so I'd say if anything Goku is just as much a victim as Gohan.

      Nah, i dont know in other languages, but on the dub from latinoamerica, its clear that goku priority is too fight great opponents, then save the lives of others. The surprise with raditz, was that he was not coming to take his time. But in the cell saga and also a little with majin boo, he endanger others in order to pursue a better fight. Its who it is, and that conflicts with doing the best for his family or the destiny of the whole planet. So the fact that he wishes to take some moments to slow down with Gohan, its consequences of the time they spend training on the time chamber. B minus at best he deserves

    Idk about homer I personally put him in F because like he's always either at work,moe's,or home and even then he physically abuses bart and then he's a but kinda of emotionally abusive putting both Lisa and marge down with his words, forgetting Maggie exists and his actions like sometimes he does things for the betterment of his family but he isn't as willing to sacrifice as much as marge has

    cause besides money, Pearl is the other thing he would do anything for, he truly loves her
    heck he even became a food thief, when Pearl had a growth spurt
    the only downside, is that he is very cheap when it comes to Pearl's wants

    OH YEA the 2012 Shredder technically is a father. For where i put him it be high f tier and heres why. For starters Shredder took and raised Splinter daughter after he was trying to kill him and accidently killed his wife Teng Shen. He raised her think that Splinter was the one who killed her mom and she resented Splinter becasue of the lie he told her. He accidently mutated her when he was trying to attack Leo, also he put a mind controling worm inside of her head. But from all those dads from f tier who wants nothing to with thier kids, Shredder did care for her i guess like there's some moments that shredder does care about her but thats not excussing him from all the stuff stuff he did.
