Yeah. And it definitely wouldn't be a Treasure Island adaptation if it didn't have a Long John Silver. He's the sole reason why the original Treasure Island story became so famous, popular, and iconic that it spawned many, many adaptations in media in the first place. That's why Disney adapted the book three times with the live-action movie released in 1950, the musical one starring the Muppets that came out in 1996, and of course, the animated sci-fi version in 2002.
Another thing about Facilier that makes him so good is that his death scene goes insanely hard, dude got dragged to hell kicking, screaming, and begging by his demon buddies
Yo it does. Even his own villain song is heard when his death scene plays out. You know you've royally screwed up when your own song goes against you when you die!
I feel like even his shadow-self knew when things could go wrong. Notice when Facilier's speaking to his friends asking for help, his shadow-self is completely gone, as if it knew that if things got screwy, it would go down with him? Even before Facilier is dragged away, his shadow tries to hide behind him like "take him, I didn't do anything!!". It was trying to hide behind anything it could, and when it was grabbed, I bet it grabbed Facilier as if to say "I ain't going down by myself, mister!" and took him along. His shadow really made the scenes more fun with its own personality. It didn't even have to speak, just the evil laugh was enough - if not simply being there.
Even some old villains aren't on this list. Nothing from the Mighty Ducks animated series, Aladdin/Little Mermaid show and sequels, Timon and Pumba series, Toy Story shorts, etc. Not sayin they're good villains, but this list is severely incomplete.
Xehanort was a pretty great villain, I'd put him at a solid B on this list. Cunning and smug, super confident in himself, lots of personality there. Leonard Nimoy's performance was stellar, too (rest in peace). And you get to learn a lot about Xehanort's motivations if you read the optional reports in the games. If you're willing to "go along" with the wild plot of Kingdom Hearts, watching his schemes fall together as he manipulates people into where he needs them to be is super thrilling. Also puts him as a great foil to Sora, the hero who makes friends naturally and gets his strengh from them, whereas Xehanort just uses and even exploits people. Biggest gripe, though, is how the writing team suddenly decided he needed a completely different motive at the last minute. Like, literally the final cutscenes in 3 after Sora already beat him, he starts talking about how he wanted to reset the worlds back to the days when everything was full of light? Which is a complete shift from his stated motivations in any other game, where he's either motivated by scientific/historical curiosity (what power could another war between light and darkness awaken?) or he wants to "keep balance" between light and darkness (which means siding with darkness, because light has too much power these days, apparently). It's like they got cold feet at the last moment.
If anyone wants to learn about these villains, a channel called “Colin Looksback” does in depth research into the development and history of Disney villains and the history of the parks.
Sad to see some of the Ducktales villains getting rated so low, because they're iconic disney villains in the comics and Ducktales didn't really do any of those characters justice
Dude if you have never seen Gargoyles you need to sit down and binge the entire series. Like legit that was one of the best cartoon series from the 90s hands down. The huge amount of legendary actors, the characters are fun, and the Zanatos Gambit thing legit came from that show XD

Modern Disney has been lacking in the villain department. I'm glad DreamWorks picking up Disney's slack. My personal favourite is Death, he just nailed what makes the Kung Fu Panda (franchise well known for their good villains) villain great. Being a menace, manipulating the protagonist's mentality, and great presentation.
On topic: Bowler Hat Guy is my favourite villain of all time because every time I would watch Cars on DVD the first trailer I would see is the trailer for Meet The Robinsons and the first thing I see is Bowler Hat Guy saying “Allow me to shed some light on the subject” *Childhood*
Glomgold in the 2017 Ducktales reboot in contract is fucking great 😂, basically making him a spiteful and petty son of a bitch in the best way that’s so fun to watch. Haven’t seen the 87 show enough to assess my overall opinions on the version but in my personal tier list the 2017 version is at least A or upper B tier
"If we're gonna do twist villains, if it works, then it's fine." I mean sure, every once in a while. But like... not for almost every single movie for a decade. You can point to almost any of Disney's twist villains and say "well, it works for the movie!" but that doesn't make the trend itself less tiring. Villains with great screen presence raise the stakes of a story, and some of us want those types of animated stories to come back.
I rank him S tier myself, but I'm also biased. :P And it doesn't help that I've not seen most of the movies here, so it's not like I can give much thought aside from idk, LOL. I feel like he was at least high A tier, though, if not S. I loved how even the suspicious Lawrence fell for his trick, after being shown what he truly wanted.
Don Karnage is high A tier, imo. His men follow him because he has utter confidence in himself, which makes them blind to his stupidity. Jim Cummings once said it was one of his favorite roles to play
42:16 - The Phantom Blot was basically a generic supervillain for Mickey Mouse. In the Ducktales reboot, they repackaged him as this sort of anti-magic madman who built a glove to sap away magic powers. Also it's Blot like an ink-blot, or blotting out the sky or whatever. I heard Phantom BOLT and got triggered the same way people don't pronounce the accent in Pokémon (it's the same sort of accent as if you were saying Enriqué...unless you also pronounce that En-Ricky in which case I don't even know what to say, man)
I know you have probably gotten this so much, but I am on my knees begging you to watch both Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles. Not only were they great action shows in general, but they both have some of the best written villains I've seen even to this day.
Maybe because he was redeemed and became an ally in the 3rd season, while she remained villanous. I know the series creator disliked that last season and wasn't involved with it, but to Disney it's still canon.

Bowler Hat Guy, aka Goob, I’d put in at lowest A-tier. He has such iconic lines like “I could turn him into a duck! Yes, yes…but, I don’t need a duck…”
Funny how they (or at least the girl commenting alongside Saber) didn't realize that the hat was actually the real villain; She was built to help people, but went out of control and was supposedly shut down and escaped. She probably also found a boy who felt betrayed and took over his mind in order to get revenge. The comments were definitely true there; The hat created the apocalypse, and Goob was just a sidekick, even if he looked like he was the main bad guy.
Seeing all the Darkwing Duck villains in IDK was so sad, they’re all fantastic villains, super fun and themed, much better then any rescue rangers and ducktales ones 😔
Captain Hook is definitely the most fun part of that movie, however he is NOT threatening in the least bit. And how threatening a villain is is a super important criteria imo. So I woulda put him in C tier, myself. Yzma has the exact same comedic value as Captain Hook while also being a legitimate threat to the protags of the movie she's in.
Clayton deserved a little better. He represents what Tarzan was 'supposed to' be, a modern man who only thinks of his own entichment and desire, completely missing the more abstract treasures of life.
42:16 I was surprised you never heard of Phantom Blot, because he is pretty much Mickey's Joker. His schemes range from crooked theft, to world domination, some of his plans have no monetary gain for him, but their purpose is to spread fear of him to the public. He is very cunning and tried murdering Mickey a couple of times, in European comic stories he is often presented as a more dangerous figure than the American versions though. Easy B-A tier.
I want to see more lists like this from animated shows. Which list did they do? I'm trying to find it and there's a bunch on there but the ones I've looked at aren't the same as this one.
My top 5: 1.Scar 2. Hades 3. Bill Cipher 4. Syndrome 5. Frollo I would still really like if you did a video on Gargoyles. Then you could get to know the antagonistic characters like Demona and Xanatos. Also Keith David as Goliath is always amazing.
Darkwing Duck adopted Gozland from an orphanage. His villains are very fun with some pretty good lines. I recommend giving the series a revisit sometime. Darkwing "You.. are not a well person!" Megavolt "What? And YOU'RE normal?! (Quotes DWs intro to make his point) I am the coldsore that stings your lip? We are talking seriously demented!"
Rouke got shivved. Sure, it was pretty obvious he'd be in the villain, but he was commanding, had following, was a real threat, and one of the few Disney villains packing a gun and straight up murdered an old man. He's low, vile, and represents the greed of so many industries/countries/people. And he had some charm and humor, just in that drill sergeant sort of way of joking where it's more an insult than something to laugh at. He deserved at least a B, I think.
I'd argue Gothel is high A or low S. She kidnapped a baby and raised her solely for the magic now in her hair. She isn't physically strong but so manipulative with her 'love' to the point Rapunzel stayed in a tower for YEARS. She used others to her convenience and when she needed to get her hands dirty she did just that. For Jafar, he could be S but A is fine. The only reason Aladin is even involved in the story is because Jafar needed a 'diamond in the ruff' to enter the cave and get the lamp. He had been mind controlling the Sultan and he was the one to push him to marry off Jasmin. Plus he has an amazing design! (youtuber 'mason idk' did a great video on animated villians hitting different and how some of the ones on this list are far more memorable and why)

How are they going to have Dr. Hamsterwheel (or whatever his name is) on the list but not Bradley Uppercrust III? I mean I know an Extremely Goofy Movie wasn't as well known a year ago but the Lilo and Stitch sequels I feel like aren't any MORE well known than An Extremely Goofy Movie was. And Bradley is such a good antagonist to Max because they're so similar but so totally different. ALSO HIS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS ARE EVERYTHING. SUCH an icon.
The Evil Queen should be in at least A tier not only is she the first ever Disney villain but she’s terrifying and is the first thing we think of when we think of the iconic Evil Queen character in the classic Snow White fairytale and without her we wouldn’t have other iconic villains like Lady Tremaine or Queen of Hearts other than that great list
Skinner is Edgar done correctly. They are both worried about a will, but where Edgar is dumb about the whole procedure, skinner has legit reasons to worry about the conditions of the will and has legit threats in soft power to the main characters.
I don't know how they could have Fat Cat on that list, but left out Professor Nimnul. So many great moments. Also disappointed Saber doesn't know Darkwing Duck. That show fits the Batman inspiration when it comes to a rogues gallery.
I noticed that AUTO wasn't anywhere to be found. He's a villain unlike most: he is all artificial, nothing organic whatsoever. Not to mention came extremely close to killing the main protagonist; he may as well have actually killed WALL-E.
Fun fact: Queen Grimhilde is the only Disney Villain to not have her real name revealed. Others mostly know her as the Evil Queen or the Wicked Queen. Plus Frollo and Gantu are the only Disney Movie Villains to be played by actual voice actors.
Dr. Facilier is S Tier in my eyes, and no one is changing my mind. But let's be real, he's so charismatic, even the suspicious Lawrence fell for him! :P Also, here's something fun: They replaced the Song of the South ride on Splash Mountain with a Princess and the Frog theme. ;D
Still can't believe Gothel was at the very bottom of B, what made her great is that she was a terrifyingly real villain bumped up to 11 with the fact she had the resources and power to if circumstances went right monopolize Rapunzel for...well forever considering what Rapunzel's powers did, Rapunzel got lucky in that Eugene stumbled onto her and saved her. The movie makes it very clear that she's only nice to Rapunzel at all out of convenience sake, and by the time the movie climax was upon us it was no longer convenient for her to treat Rapunzel decently...if Eugene hadn't cut her hair Rapunzel would be living a fate worse than death for the better part of eternity. I know her actions ultimately truly only effect four (or 5 if you count Cassandra) people but the effect they have is life altering in drastic ways and are the definition of cruelty. Idk I just think if you put Ursula in S Gothel is at the very least a low A, as they have the same gimmick as the master manipulator villains but Gothel's personal connection to Rapunzel makes her more impactful, hers is an ultimate betrayal one we know is coming but Rapunzel doesn't which makes her trepidation and anxiety over her decision to leave the tower so painful to watch, because we know she's making the right decision but she goes back and forth between guilt, terror , and giddiness trying to process what she's doing in disobeying someone she thinks is her loving guardian. Ursula is just jo shmo sea witch to Ariel like yeah there related but Ariel doesn't know that and it never plays an integral role in the story the only reason Ursula is so high up is because of her sass , design, and her impact to a greater number of people overall which is important don't get me wrong but Ursula is just a chapter in King triton, Ariel, and Eric's books....Gothel is Rapunzel's whole damn novel, and she plays a starring role in her parents and Eugene's books as well even in the short time Eugene knew her.
Wanted to point out that Jackson Storm and Chick Hicks are not in this list. Find that odd considering there are other Pixar villains here. Anyway, I agree with this list pretty well however. Just was noticing that those two aren't in there is all.

Tbh, my standards would probably be more on impression, appearance, and maaaaybe motives? But honestly, I'm drawn in by characters' looks more than anything, and if I see a wicked looking dude in armor, I'm ranking them higher, lol. Same can be said though for a handsome man like Dr. Facilier. While I didn't think much of Princess and the Frog at first watch, it's become a super huge fixation for me as of late, and I am just in love with Facilier. The fact he was outdone by a few on this list was...Kinda sad. As iconic and perhaps more evil some of these may had been, my man didn't deserve to only be low A. I'd give in to at least mid-high A, if not S tier (I admit it, Scar and Hades do deserve higher positions). But honestly, I'd have so many idk tiers since I only watch so much, so eh...Like mine would have Zurg as an S tier because dang it, I'm a sucker for robots.
Constance Hatchaway is S tier if you’re all caught up on Haunted Mansion lore. Especially the comics and the audio story. She is one of the most terrifying villains Disney has ever created in my opinion and a severely underrated character.

Most of the list seems fine. I personally would have rated the "ducktales" ones higher as they are much better in the comics. Shere Khan deserved a bit of an higher spot aswell.

Don Karnage is high A tier, imo. His men follow him because he has utter confidence in himself, which makes them blind to his stupidity. Jim Cummings once said it was one of his favorite roles to play
42:16 - The Phantom Blot was basically a generic supervillain for Mickey Mouse. In the Ducktales reboot, they repackaged him as this sort of anti-magic madman who built a glove to sap away magic powers.
Also it's Blot like an ink-blot, or blotting out the sky or whatever. I heard Phantom BOLT and got triggered the same way people don't pronounce the accent in Pokémon (it's the same sort of accent as if you were saying Enriqué...unless you also pronounce that En-Ricky in which case I don't even know what to say, man)

I know you have probably gotten this so much, but I am on my knees begging you to watch both Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles. Not only were they great action shows in general, but they both have some of the best written villains I've seen even to this day.

Maybe because he was redeemed and became an ally in the 3rd season, while she remained villanous.
I know the series creator disliked that last season and wasn't involved with it, but to Disney it's still canon.

Funny how they (or at least the girl commenting alongside Saber) didn't realize that the hat was actually the real villain; She was built to help people, but went out of control and was supposedly shut down and escaped. She probably also found a boy who felt betrayed and took over his mind in order to get revenge. The comments were definitely true there; The hat created the apocalypse, and Goob was just a sidekick, even if he looked like he was the main bad guy.

Captain Hook is definitely the most fun part of that movie, however he is NOT threatening in the least bit. And how threatening a villain is is a super important criteria imo. So I woulda put him in C tier, myself. Yzma has the exact same comedic value as Captain Hook while also being a legitimate threat to the protags of the movie she's in.
Clayton deserved a little better. He represents what Tarzan was 'supposed to' be, a modern man who only thinks of his own entichment and desire, completely missing the more abstract treasures of life.
42:16 I was surprised you never heard of Phantom Blot, because he is pretty much Mickey's Joker.
His schemes range from crooked theft, to world domination, some of his plans have no monetary gain for him, but their purpose is to spread fear of him to the public. He is very cunning and tried murdering Mickey a couple of times, in European comic stories he is often presented as a more dangerous figure than the American versions though.
Easy B-A tier.

Darkwing Duck adopted Gozland from an orphanage. His villains are very fun with some pretty good lines. I recommend giving the series a revisit sometime.

Rouke got shivved. Sure, it was pretty obvious he'd be in the villain, but he was commanding, had following, was a real threat, and one of the few Disney villains packing a gun and straight up murdered an old man. He's low, vile, and represents the greed of so many industries/countries/people. And he had some charm and humor, just in that drill sergeant sort of way of joking where it's more an insult than something to laugh at. He deserved at least a B, I think.
I'd argue Gothel is high A or low S. She kidnapped a baby and raised her solely for the magic now in her hair. She isn't physically strong but so manipulative with her 'love' to the point Rapunzel stayed in a tower for YEARS. She used others to her convenience and when she needed to get her hands dirty she did just that.
For Jafar, he could be S but A is fine. The only reason Aladin is even involved in the story is because Jafar needed a 'diamond in the ruff' to enter the cave and get the lamp. He had been mind controlling the Sultan and he was the one to push him to marry off Jasmin. Plus he has an amazing design!

How are they going to have Dr. Hamsterwheel (or whatever his name is) on the list but not Bradley Uppercrust III? I mean I know an Extremely Goofy Movie wasn't as well known a year ago but the Lilo and Stitch sequels I feel like aren't any MORE well known than An Extremely Goofy Movie was. And Bradley is such a good antagonist to Max because they're so similar but so totally different.

The Evil Queen should be in at least A tier not only is she the first ever Disney villain but she’s terrifying and is the first thing we think of when we think of the iconic Evil Queen character in the classic Snow White fairytale and without her we wouldn’t have other iconic villains like Lady Tremaine or Queen of Hearts other than that great list

Skinner is Edgar done correctly. They are both worried about a will, but where Edgar is dumb about the whole procedure, skinner has legit reasons to worry about the conditions of the will and has legit threats in soft power to the main characters.
I don't know how they could have Fat Cat on that list, but left out Professor Nimnul. So many great moments.
Also disappointed Saber doesn't know Darkwing Duck. That show fits the Batman inspiration when it comes to a rogues gallery.
Saber, I highly recommend Gargoyles. Demona is an S tier villain: fun, tragic, and sassy as hell.

I noticed that AUTO wasn't anywhere to be found. He's a villain unlike most: he is all artificial, nothing organic whatsoever. Not to mention came extremely close to killing the main protagonist; he may as well have actually killed WALL-E.

Still can't believe Gothel was at the very bottom of B, what made her great is that she was a terrifyingly real villain bumped up to 11 with the fact she had the resources and power to if circumstances went right monopolize Rapunzel for...well forever considering what Rapunzel's powers did, Rapunzel got lucky in that Eugene stumbled onto her and saved her. The movie makes it very clear that she's only nice to Rapunzel at all out of convenience sake, and by the time the movie climax was upon us it was no longer convenient for her to treat Rapunzel decently...if Eugene hadn't cut her hair Rapunzel would be living a fate worse than death for the better part of eternity. I know her actions ultimately truly only effect four (or 5 if you count Cassandra) people but the effect they have is life altering in drastic ways and are the definition of cruelty.
Idk I just think if you put Ursula in S Gothel is at the very least a low A, as they have the same gimmick as the master manipulator villains but Gothel's personal connection to Rapunzel makes her more impactful, hers is an ultimate betrayal one we know is coming but Rapunzel doesn't which makes her trepidation and anxiety over her decision to leave the tower so painful to watch, because we know she's making the right decision but she goes back and forth between guilt, terror , and giddiness trying to process what she's doing in disobeying someone she thinks is her loving guardian. Ursula is just jo shmo sea witch to Ariel like yeah there related but Ariel doesn't know that and it never plays an integral role in the story the only reason Ursula is so high up is because of her sass , design, and her impact to a greater number of people overall which is important don't get me wrong but Ursula is just a chapter in King triton, Ariel, and Eric's books....Gothel is Rapunzel's whole damn novel, and she plays a starring role in her parents and Eugene's books as well even in the short time Eugene knew her.

Would’ve liked if you rated by how evil and just overall impression. Including design and voice, all that make the person up.
Tbh, my standards would probably be more on impression, appearance, and maaaaybe motives? But honestly, I'm drawn in by characters' looks more than anything, and if I see a wicked looking dude in armor, I'm ranking them higher, lol.
Same can be said though for a handsome man like Dr. Facilier. While I didn't think much of Princess and the Frog at first watch, it's become a super huge fixation for me as of late, and I am just in love with Facilier. The fact he was outdone by a few on this list was...Kinda sad. As iconic and perhaps more evil some of these may had been, my man didn't deserve to only be low A. I'd give in to at least mid-high A, if not S tier (I admit it, Scar and Hades do deserve higher positions).
But honestly, I'd have so many idk tiers since I only watch so much, so eh...Like mine would have Zurg as an S tier because dang it, I'm a sucker for robots.
Constance Hatchaway is S tier if you’re all caught up on Haunted Mansion lore. Especially the comics and the audio story.

He'd be low D or F for me; Even his song wasn't super great, imo. It just helped me inspire more "joke" related things with my own characters. Wish in general was a "meh" movie, and I'd find other things to turn on before it if I was bored or needed background noise. /shrugs
Most of the list seems fine. I personally would have rated the "ducktales" ones higher as they are much better in the comics. Shere Khan deserved a bit of an higher spot aswell.
