    I'd argue Flynn is a better thief than Aladdin cuz Aladdin struggled with stealing 1 loaf of bread whereas Flynn basically gets away with stealing a crown from the castle and the only reason he goes to jail at the end of the movie, it because Gothal and his ex criminal partners tricked him.

    I’m really glad I’m not the only one who thinks Naveen is a criminally underrated Disney Prince. His character arc is handled tremendously well. In the first half of the movie, he’s a spoiled brat who couldn’t do basic tasks, but dismissed this notion, as he believed life was all about partying, and refused to get a job to regain his wealth, but realised how rewarding it feels to do something you’ve never tried before, thanks to Tiana, and learned that money can buy you everything, but true love. And was even willing to marry Charlotte just so Tiana could still buy her restaurant and not just so he could regain his wealth. That’s really beautiful! 🥹🙏🐸🤴🏾

    I wanna bring up something people BARELY talk about when it comes to Eric in the little Mermaid:
    Everyone seems to forget that despite Ariel giving up her voice and other stuff to be on land with Eric...Her voice was the BIGGEST thing he cared about when "finding the girl who saved him". Heck, the few times he talks about her as "the girl", her looks don't come up ONCE. He's mainly focused on her wonderful singing. Heck, when they first meet he DOES recognizes her face as the girl who saved him/sang to him. The ONLY REASON he even doubted it was her was HER LACK OF VOICE. Especially cause it showed the hypocrisy of all of Ursala's statements of "Guys not being into women who talk/have a voice". Yes Eric and Ariel do get the chance to get together(even if admittedly brief), but still, WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THIS!?!?
    Also if it weren't for Ursala's actions, Eric would already have gotten together with Ariel the moment they got together as humans, heck on MULTIPLE OCASSIONS.
    Now granted Ariel could have definitely made it easier if she wrote down who she was, but plot holes aside…come on people

      @darthestar8791 Год назад +13

      @@mosa4302 I know, but the point I wanted to make is that he didn't care about her looks as much as her voice. Which contradicts Ursala's intentional points about how "men only care about a woman's looks"

    • @rosestar1324
      @rosestar1324 Год назад +16

      Actually it's not really shallow in the context of the film. Vocal attraction is a thing in psychology. And he might have gotten with Ariel anyway based on her personality if it wasn't for Ursula getting in the way. Not only did the woman save his life but she also had a wonderful singing voice. There's nothing shallow about wanting to pursue a relationship with the woman who saved your life and has a great singing voice.

Funny that they got him to do a prince in direct to vhs sequels but not of the prince he actually voiced. His royal highness CD Barnes was also the voice of Spider-Man in TAS. From my understanding Hans did not kill Elsa at first because he wasnt sure if kiling her would have stopped the cold she accidentally casted on the kingdom. He only decited that killing her was his best option after she herself told him, that she doesnt know how to stop it and after Anna "died" he had a perfect reason to kill her while looking as if he tried his best to solve the situation peacefully.
    But even if that was the case, it still wasnt properly comunicated to the audience, not to mention that it is still a total stupidity to leave "dying" Anna in a random room and hoping literally noone would ask to see a body after he pronounces her dead. So yeah it is still a terrible twist.

      It would've been better if Hans genuinely wanted to be a good leader and that having to kill Elsa was a hard choice for him to make. Make him feel even more motivated to kill her after seeing the pain she puts on the people and on Anna. Maybe even have him argue with Elsa, who was ignorantly replying back with 'Oh but I wanna let it go and not care anymore', which in turn made him angry. Y'know, make him look more humane and reasonable.

      For sure. Giselle is easily a top tier Disney princess. She has a Cinderella esque personality where she is a kind and wholesome person but she also has a great character arc in the movie. She learns that there is a lot more to life than she initially thought and you can see that things she learns early on are things she does end up doing later on. Seeing her learn about how the world and love works is very wholesome and it is executed in such a strong and sweet way. She's also a very talented individual, particularly in her crafting abilities (with the help of animals). She's definitely up there with the greatest Disney Princesses for me.
      Edward is really good too. He doesn't have as much to do as Giselle but he's overall a very charming and charismatic character. He's a lot of fun and it is really sweet to see him actually do things that Giselle wants, despite those things being alien to him. He wanted to go back to Andalasia but he stayed in New York to go on dates with Giselle because that's what she wanted (even though he didn't even know what dating was prior) and he truly cared for her (and in the end, he does let her go, despite being fixated on her for the rest of the movie).
      Enchanted in general is a very underrated movie. It is a movie which is a lot better than you would expect considering its premise. I never grew up with the movie but it has recently become one of my favourite Disney movies. Too bad Disenchanted was a rather poor followup which squandered Giselle’s character, among numerous other things.

    • @bigbangbot-SuperSqank
      @bigbangbot-SuperSqank 11 месяцев назад +2

      Definitely. They absolutely messed up Giselle. So in the first movie, Giselle is naïve but she isn’t outright stupid. She’s in a new world she doesn’t understand so she does whatever feels like the right thing to do in the moment which makes sense. And even then, she still ends up making some good and smart decisions, particularly in the later parts of the movie when she has become more accustomed to the world.
      In Disenchanted however, Giselle becomes a dumber character who constantly makes dumb decisions. The poor decisions she makes in the movie, whether called out by the movie itself or not, ultimately end up in her casting a spell which nearly destroys her home world and kills her. Giselle has lived on Earth at 10 years at this point yet, she still seems to be oblivious about the world which doesn’t really make sense. It reverses the character development she had in the first movie and makes her a less likeable character, as she’s now unintelligent without the sufficient context or charm to back it up. As well as Giselle’s whimsical charm being removed due to the poor writing, there’s also the fact that the movie just forgets about Giselle’s fashion skills. That was a notable part in the first movie and by the end, Giselle opened a very successful fashion business. That is just completely ignored in Disenchanted outside of a couple of references to Giselle’s creativity. There are times in the movie where her background in fashion could have been used but it’s just gone for some reason.
      In general, Giselle just feels off outside of the unintelligence. It’s hard to explain and I think it really comes down to the writing but Giselle just doesn’t have that kindness and whimsy she had in the original. She feels more insensitive which can particularly be seen with her relationship with Morgan before the spell. There’s just something off with her. I certainly don’t blame Amy Adams for this, she was doing the best she could with what she was given, it’s just that the script did not do her character justice.
      And then you have “evil Giselle” who is ultimately the evil stepmother stereotype with no nuance or subtlety. They don’t do anything interesting with the character archetype, they just turn Giselle into the most bland, cliche version of that stereotype you can imagine. It’s interesting in concept but in execution, it is executed in such a basic way, resulting in me not really caring. But yeah, they squandered Giselle and evil Giselle is uninteresting.
      And as for Edward, he actually made the transition just fine. He was the only character from the original who managed to stay in character and not get significantly dumbed down in terms of his personality. The issue with Edward however is that barely in the movie, only having like 3 scenes. You can cut him out the movie and the story can still function the exact same, especially since Nancy is with him most of the time he’s on screen and she does almost everything. Edward gives Robert a sword and that’s pretty much the only remotely relevant thing he does without Nancy. Edward made the transition ok but he gets nothing to do in the movie which is a real shame.
      And that’s my take as to why Disenchanted messed these characters up. I could go into more detail about the subject and the movie made many more mistakes both in terms of its plot and characters but I think I’ve gone on for long enough. Enchanted has become one of my favourite Disney movies in recent times and Disenchanted is a huge disappointment for me and I would call it flat out bad. Enchanted did not deserve this but alas, here we are.

    I 100% agree with Eugene being the top prince of Disney. of all the princes I've seen, I quote him the most. he's so charming and hilarious and I love his story arc from selfish thief to selfless lover. he went from being willing to endanger Rapunzel by taking her to a tavern that is filled to the brim with bandits and murderers so that she will give him the crown to someone who was willing to ditch the crown to be with this same woman that he was willing to endanger before and even sacrifices himself to save her from a dark and cruel life under Gothel because his new dream was Rapunzel. he is so full of personality and I can't help but love him
    though I want to point out that at the end of Tangled, when Eugene said that Rapunzel asked him to marry her, Rapunzel chimes in to correct him and he admits that he asked her. I do like that he asked her though because it goes to show how much he changed throughout the movie. he didn't give a shit about her at the beginning of the movie, and here he is now asking to marry her. it's adorable

    I think there was plenty of hints that Hans was evil. In his song he says “I’ve been searching my whole life to find my own place” while Anna is talking about how she loves him. Elsa’s general warning that “you can’t marry a man you just met” along with the same warning from Kristoff later on. Not to mention the huge red flag that he has 11 brothers and multiple of them ignored him for years at a time. And because, the most obvious one, he’s just too good to be true. Any decent character has some kind of flaw. Even Kristoff is awkward and clumsy and a bit abrasive when they meet

    There was actually one hint in Frozen that Hans was a villain, most people just missed it. When he appears to save Elsa from one of Duke weaselton's huntsman he glances up at the ceiling before shoving the guys crossbow this was intentional as he purposely aimed the crossbow at the chandelier above Elsa's head intending to drop it on her and make it look like an accident while he was saving her but she dodged. You literally show the scene.
    Aside from that the reason Hans with such an out-of-nowhere villain was because Elsa was supposed to be the villain originally but the song let it go was so inspirational they couldn't make her the villain after recording it.
    Also I think the reason they didn't go back and add any scenes in aside from the chandelier scene to prove Hans was the villain and he kind of hints or anyting is probably because people in the real world have been blindsided when a partner cheats on them or decides to steal from them or friend stabbed him in the back somehow and that's what they wanted to do they wanted the audience to be as blindsided by Hans betrayal as Anna was.

    • @silverscorpio24
      @silverscorpio24 Год назад +19

      Why though? Elsa didn't see the guy aiming his crossbow, but she's more likely to hear a chandelier cracking as it falls from the ceiling. The Duke's goons want to kill her and so does Hans; they wouldn't spill that Hans visibly let Elsa die.

They were patient with each other, and even though Eugene was pretty much helpless against the main threats that happened, he still tried to help rapunzel as much as he could. Trying to protect her when she needed him, he even is aware that rapunzel was no damsel in distress, that she could fight her own battles. I think you might've misunderstood Taran a bit. The magic sword isn't a blow to his character development because he doesn't understand what it means to be a hero at that time.
    His definition of hero throughout most of the movie is someone knightly, who vanquished evil. We see it in his daydreaming and playing, even his attitude towards his master's views on the horned king. He wants to storm the castle, defeat evil in a clearly physical way. His arch is realizing that heroes are not all knights, and that anyone can be one, no matter what or who they are or how they do it. So at the time he's gotten thrown in the dungeon, all he has done is regretted daydreaming off and allowing himself to get into this mess. He hasn't learned his lesson.
    The sword comes into play, and he thinks he's now a hero, but as the movie implies (remember the animation where the sword is controlling him?) and as other characters even state to him, its the sword doing the work, not him. Basically if we were comparing it to another film, it would be someone who wanted to ace his test finding the grading key and calling themselves smart. He's only fooling himself. But he's not fooling the movie, nor his friends.
    When he offers the sword to the hags, he's sorrowful at not being able to play the hero and is confused on what to do to actually destroy the cauldron. He's now completely lost because he believes himself no longer able to be the hero.. But its only at Gurgie's sacrifice does he understand that someone wielding a sword isn't always the hero; sometimes its the person who you least suspect and that anyone can be one. Even a little monster you found in the forest, cowardly, and small. His arch ends when he realizes his friend, obnoxious though he was, is gone because Gurgi wanted to save them. And when the hags come back and offer him the marvelous sword, the thing that made him in the past the "hero" he always wanted to be, he turns it down. Taran of old might've taken them up on their bargain, but new Taran just wants his friend back: as he says in the movie "I'm no hero, Gurgi's the real hero."
    Basically its a less blunt Hercules. Though I do like both movies equally.

    In my Ranking:
    20 : Hans - Doesn't even need to explain why he's last
    19 : John Smith - He is generic and has weird grotesque implications, also he doesn't even married Pocahontas
    18 : Florian - We have almost nothing about him
    17 : Charming/Henry - As you explained, in the first movie we have almost nothing about him, but the sequels gave him development, especially in A Twist in Time
    16 : Arthur/Wart - Even if he isn't a memorable character and doesn't change much along the movie, he is at least kind and nice since the beginning. I don't mind his voice because I'm brazilian, so in our dub his voice doesn't change and is a fine voice. Also, his name is the same as my cousin, my cousin is like an emo version of him.
    15 : Taran - He is whiny and rude in the beginning, but in the middle of the way he starts to became more humble and *a little* mature, even if he didn't have had this "almost character development" he still would be a determinated and playful kid (which is something good if your character is in a movie without sequels)
    14 : John Rolfe - I agree with you, although he is not so memorable
    13 : Eric - He is nice, he may not have something that stands out in comparison with the rest, but he is a humble, playful and dreamy person.
    12 : Shang - As you sayed, he doesn't stand out as much as the rest, but he is a stoic guy, is tough and his character arc compliments the themes from the movie
    11 : Phoebus - Agree with you
    10 : Beast - I think he starts the " villain to hero" thing that some other princes followed later, he was Prince Zuko before Zuko's existence
    9: Phillip - He is a fun dude, i think he is the epitome of male hero archetype from a Disney movie, and he is courageous in a right way
    8 : Tarzan - I haven't watched Tarzan in a time, but remember him being tough, compassionate and his character arc was great
    7 : Kritoff - Agreed
    6 : Naveen - I agree with you
    5 : Milo - Again, i agree with you
    4 : Hercules - He is nice since the beginning, but watch him learning life lessons and how to became a great hero was amazing
    3 : Kuzco - His villain to hero arc was strongly great, he is so memorable and has a strong character
    2 : Eugene - Him and Alladin compete for spot 1, because he was kinda underused in Tangled the Series and i didn't had a very strong immersion with him, he is in the second spot,but he is still a strong and great combination of many Princes tropes from before
    1 : Alladin - I have so much immersion with him, he is one of the strongest Disney characters for me, he learned many things but was nice and brave since the beginning, I also adored his relationship and character arc with his dad in the third movie

    Once upon a time there was a guy (not a prince), who fell in love with a very beautiful lady.
    he did not tell her because he believed she could not feel the same way, whereupon she apparently fell for a much older guy.
    the not prince genuinely wanted her to be happy, and while he did end up telling her how he felt in a very tearful phone call, he urged her to stay with older guy who apparently cared about her, he even tried to help when she told him about issues with older guy.
    It turned out however, not prince didn't know the full story, and older guy was much more villainous than he had suspected, said lady was staying with older guy primarily because she didn't want to hurt him by leaving him.
    One love triangle, one desperate train journey, and one trans-Atlantic romance later, and not prince (to his own everlasting astonishment!), finds himself very happily married to said lady! And a few years later, said not prince ended up writing weird youtube comments about it!

I actually like Hans, but he could've been a really fantastic character if he'd been treated with more care. Really, that goes for all the main characters and the franchise as a whole. I’ve got an idea for a ranking video, we always focus on the Disney villains but what about the Disney divas, specifically the villainesses?

    I'd really like people to stop using the glass slipper against Prince Charming. That literally has nothing to do with him. It's his father that sends his advisor on the search for the woman who fits it, which makes more sense on why they don't look at faces.

      I'm not necessarily saying he is wrong here, just that he does nothing in the end of the movie.

    • @munromister777
      @munromister777 Год назад +2

      @@Rockotarthepurplehatguy that's definitely more fair, 100% does nothing at that point.

    Phillip and Phebus for me. I would count Jim Hawkins too even though he doesn't have a love interest. And Beast.

    Arthur was played by three kids, two were brothers who were sons of someone high up with the movie, I forget, but the younger's voice was changing, so between those two things (three different actors with one having a changing voice due to puberty), it's very unfortunately apparent in the finished movie.

    Don't know all the Disney princes but I want to say loved the video! Wasn't a big fan of Tangled because I am not a big Disney fan but from what I saw of that movie because I saw a bit of it and what you said here cool rank/tier list!

    Childhood bias would be Phillip and Hercules. Kuzko is imo the best princess and Kronk the best prince.
