I agree with your ranking for the most part - but in my ranking, I would put Esmerelda a bit higher because, although she is based on some Romani stereotypes, she is a surprisingly diverse character for the time the movie was made - and some Roma people I know really like her! As for my least favorite, I agree that Tiger-Lily should be at the bottom because she seems largely based on stereotypes, much like the rest of the indigenous people in peter pan as far as I know. I loved the video :))
Even if Tiger Lily wasn’t based on racist stereotypes of Indigenous people, she isn’t a main character, Wendy is. That’s a rule that they have to have be the female lead in the story. Tiger Lily only appears for like 10 minutes tops, and as the author mentioned doesn’t even have a single word of dialogue either. Which is weird given the chief and other native characters literally sing. Plus her personality is basically refusing to tell Captain Hook about Peter Pan.
Honestly I never noticed the Tinkerbell stuff until you mentioned it. Like Disney brand Tinkerbell vs Peter Pan's Tinkerbell are two completely different characters, it's amusing
like Disney fairy tinkerbell was curious and stubborn while Peter Pan tinker bell was jealous and downright mean. also curious of the lore of jake and the neverland pirates. jake and his friends seem the age of 7-10 and no sign of parents can be seen. did Peter bring them to neverland because they arent lost children which is what kids peter brings to neverland end up being. yes this is a spin off show so it doesn't really follow the lore of peter pan since there are other adults there than hook and his crew and the chief (thank god) but we can see it takes place right after peter pan hence the episode where wendy recovers her lost pages of her story book and her and her brothers being the same ages as they were in the movie
Wait….. Why the hate towards Sofia!? Just cause you haven’t seen the whole thing doesn’t mean she’s boring. She literally is a Story Keeper where she finds who a story is about and help give it a happy ending, and she’s also a Protector for the Mystic Isles and the Ever Realm where she stops anyone who endangers magical creatures, humans, or animals!
exactly. also the first three stf seasons were really good, not even boring (the last season wasn’t bad per se but they added too many elements they couldn’t give proper attention to in one season imo)
Yeah right Sofia was incredible. Yes sometimes I do find her very boring but for the majority of time she was interesting. I would have put her in the fifth place And I would rank Elena in the first place
My favorites are Esmerelda and Kida! Personally I’ve never felt a lot for Alice or Wendy aside being main characters. Same for Elionwry as she only says it once, she doesn’t return to her kingdom or anything. Kida actually was supposed to be a Disney princess being the first without a song or sidekick, so the more badass version of Mulan and also being another POC. You forgot to mention she actually became the first Disney queen too! (Not counting Nala) I actually really love how drastically different she is in both clothing and personality from almost any other princess. She literally has a bikini for royal robes and even loves going on warrior raids. And she even became a temporary goddess, that is so bad*ss! Esmerelda actually used to be a Disney princess, but she was removed because of her lack of sales, supposedly she’s too sexy, and they feared little girls would mistake her for Pocahontas or more specifically Jasmine because they’re all dark skinned with black hair. Same with Jane and Meg, both were more “boy movies” and Jane actually used to be included sometimes, unfortunately her appearance is too similar to Belle. Also why didn’t you rank Raya?!
No way are kids dumb enough to get Esmeralda, Pocahontas and Jasmine mixed up. Come on Disney. I know this was a while after Hunchback of Notre Dame, but I could tell the main characters of every Barbie movie apart, and they're actually supposed to be the same "actor" with the same hair and every thing. Jasmine doesn't look like either of them. Esmeralda and Pocahontas have different hairstyles, clothing styles and very different movies. It's easy.
@@EndRUclipsShorts_ I’m just saying they feared Esmerelda would get confused with Jasmine, I personally don’t know when Pocahontas became an official considering her movie unfortunately got some criticism and backlash. Another reason is simply on her own Esmerelda just didn’t make much sales as a character, probably because she isn’t really humorous despite being kinda like Meg. Just my opinion but I wouldn’t put Meg on, because I feel her relationship with Hercules was rather rushed so we only get 1 night to see her open up about why she’s afraid of falling in love again. Giselle I thought the reason she wasn’t one was because she didn’t become an actual princess in the end, but she was mostly real life instead of animated.
@@kristinahuchison2511 About only getting one night to see Megara's backstory. Rushing stories is a bad idea, but you don't really want the same conversation multiple times. I know because that's something I do too much. But I last watched Hercules at least two years ago. Maybe it was rushed and you're righter.
I always loved Jane in Tarzan I felt she had a really unique personality! Not super serious but curious about the world and quite goofy and funny. She was kind without losing her personality and chose a life of adventure! An underrated character
then the same should go to Tiana since she was a frog most of the movie which basically made her whole "first black princess" thing shoved under the rug
The fact that Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, who is in-universe a Princess of Heart alongside the likes of Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, is not on this list is a crime against humanity. J/k of course but still. I was really hoping to see her here.
About Jane Porter, Disney don't own the Tarzan franchise , so if they want to make new projects of anything involving the Tarzan universe or characters, Disney needs a new license agreement with Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. that owns the Tarzan property. I think this is one of the big reasons she is not included.
@@kingdomorange2 you didn’t mention Raya! But yes I don’t count Tiger Lily as she not only doesn’t actually say anything in her movie, but only appeared for What Makes the Red Man Red, an extremely racist song against Indigenous people. Already bad enough Pocahontas is popular enough thankfully (she’s my favorite) but her movie sadly received a bit of hate because it wasn’t historically accurate. I honestly don’t know if Disney would ever reattempt to make another Native American princess with historical accuracy to replace Pocahontas, considering she is still from the Renaissance Era. I feel this is a problem when it comes to representing POC characters is trying to create fiction with them without offending someone (everyone gets offended at ANYTHING nowadays)
Disney would never allow that, which is understandable. Aside from Anastasia not being made by Disney Animation, they'd have to do a lotnof extra promotion to get Anya known internationally since the film was made in the 90s.
Tiger lily being at the bottom list does actually fit, because of the fact shes a racist caricature of Indigenous people , making her higher would have been a bad look
I agree. I don’t even get why Orange said she’s really popular, when she isn’t. If anything, even if she wasn’t a racist stereotype of Indigenous people, she isn’t even a main character. She legit doesn’t even have any lines, which I found odd given other native characters have lines. But also her role in the story is she has a crush on Peter too. Like if anything, my best friend who ships Wendy and Peter Pan so hard said Tiger Lily is a brat lol. I have absolutely no idea about her role in the books, given Peter Pan is actually the villain. Like she only appears for like 10 minutes tops. Like even the sequel doesn’t actually show any of the native characters, only showing the teepees as Jane sees Neverland on the ship. Like the song What Makes the Red Man Red was so racist the sequel chose not to include them, which I feel was a good move
I’m honestly still super salty Elena wasn’t included in the line up when they made a whole big deal about her being the first Latina princess and I was thrilled about it. I would honestly just want them to add Esmeralda,Megara,Kida, Giselle and Elena they would all add spice to the list and make things interesting. I feel like tinker bell is better off as her Disney fairies series which I heard is coming back since they leaked dolls of them this year. I also agree that Disney is testing the waters with these girls with merchandise I can already see Megara getting a ticket in as her dolls have been outselling the rest. So once the live action rolls I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a princess in the movie and gets a ticket into the line up.
same. you know who else should be in the lineup too? princess kida from the atlantis movies. idc if the movie didn't have any songs or it didn't do well on box office
You say that age has a large impact on why these girls aren't considered with the main princesses... Pocahontas was 11-12 in her original story, (Disney changed this for the story) Snow white was 13 IN THE DISNEY MOVIE
Jane is not an official princess because Disney doesn't fully owns the rights to her, which is also why Tarzan merch is not really common, as they would need to pay royalties every time she's used, similar-ish to Giselle. Elena is in a weird limbo, somewhat similar to Elsa and Anna. She was crowned in a whole ceremony and parade, during her show appeared several times with the other princesses, both in meet and greets and merch, and she is still fairly popular nowadays, and some official sources still list her as an official princess, while others don't.
How does Disney not fully own Tarzan?? Disney literally created it. I understand with Anastasia considering she’s a bought property, something about despite Disney owns Fox, marketing her as a Disney princess would be violating copyrights?
I strongly believe disney should make a doll series for the younger characters (like Wendy, Alice ,Jane -Wendy's daughter-,Melody -ariels daughter-,Miguel from coco,Isabel-Elena's sister ,Sofia , eliowne etc). They could name it Disney's little heroes or something like it . Also I strongly believe they should add Esmeralda, jane ,Anastasia ,meg and gissele on the line !
I went to the musical Peter Pan Jr. at my cousin's school. Besides Captain Hook, the most fun I had was when Tiger Lily and the Lost Boys became friends. They had a whole song about it. I think Tiger Lily is better in the play.
What I also noticed with megara is that unlike most Disney heroines she wasn’t designated to look sweet and trustable like the others. Her features are sharp and very mature while most Disney princesses have big round eyes, high pitched voices and baby faces to make them look kind and trustable, which is the opposite of Megara who’s an anti-hero. It resulted in many fans thinking that she must be a decade older than Hercule.
Isn’t Meg like 23 or something? While Hercules I believe is 18. I believe Disney confirmed Meg is a few years older, being the only girl aside Kida whose older than her man
1985's The Black Cauldron was Disney's 25th animated film. It was the first animated film since Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs and Fantasia not to have a "The End" card at the end of the film, but it's also the first Disney animated feature film to use closing credits since Alice in Wonderland (animated).
Elena is one of my fav Disney princesses (along with Anna, Elsa, movie Rapunzel and Sofia). I like her very much because she is as normal as anyone can be (though she is more mature). She can be furious, she can be happy, she can be desperate, she can say sorry (unlike Tangled the series’s Rapunzel).... I didn’t even notice that she is flawless as you say. Perhaps, as she revealed in the final episode (and like Rapunzel said) it was a part of being a queen. She always has to know it all
11:39 Well the movie was inaccurate with the real mythology like example they made Hades a villain just because his the King of the Underworld like Thanatos is the God of Death and Hades is the God of Riches and in mythology Hades just keeps his word and his a one of the most decent gods in Greek mythology.
Kida, Megara, Jane, Esmeralda and Giselle. They should be in the standard. They are very similar to other Disney Princesses. Kida is in a very Disney's style, her face reminds Disney a lot. All of Them are the same like Pocahontas, Mulan or Jasmine, a little bit warrior, very lovely, delicate, with stronger character and with so much love in Their hearts. In KIngdom Hearts could be Atlantis, because the Hearts of Atlantis and the enviroment is so unique, the vechicles, crystals. Every of the girls have exactly that same potential like other Princesses. And to don't forget, The Sleeping Beauty was a flop too and She in the movie is like a secondary character, so if She got a new chance, Kida should get it too, right?
I agree. I don’t think a lot of people actually like Snow White (doesn’t help her prince only appears twice like Cinderella’s) and yes Sleeping Beauty actually almost ended Walt Disney Studios. If anything, I say Kida, Esmerelda and Meg should take their place. Kida is actually my second favorite and I seriously love Esmerelda’s feisty yet sweet nature towards Quasi and anyone else being discriminated. Like she even encourages him in the sequel she believed there was someone special for him too! I used to like her better with Quasi, but I do believe Madeleine is a better match for Quasi, seeing he helps her out of her abusive relationship with her boss, but helps her to see the good in the world! Esmerelda actually was one for a very short time, but didn’t really sell. Also I think Disney said she’s “too sexy” which is so stupid given Pocahontas was made from a 12 year old to 18 to romanticize her with John Smith, who was actually like 30 or 40 when he met her. Like the age Pocahontas was in the movie she would’ve either been married to Kocuom already or forcibly married to John Rolfe with a son.
@@kristinahuchison2511 Yes, all of this is a big true. And the story of Esmeralda is fascinating by the same way like the stories of the other Princesses. I like Pocahontas, but in real, the movie isn't accurate with the official history of this person, in real Her name wasn't Pocahontas as official. In that interpretation They could make everything, change, rewrite the stories, characters, so Kida matches, she is very similar to Pocahontas, jasmine, Vaiana. I just can't believe it, that some of Them are more liked, some of them disregarded, but Kida is my favortie top character with Megara and Jasmine, so If the company disregardes her, They disregardes me too and disregardes Themselves Their creativeness, proves, that some of Their stories are made by a talent, some of Them are a trashes even if they was made by the same artists? And the childrens who like the underrated Disney stories, animations should be treated as trashes too? Additionally I guess that today Kida is more appreciated than underrated. The company is just Hilarious and ridiculous. And yes Madeleine was much better than Esmeralda as a pair for Quasimodo. I like Her name, I like Her as a person and wonder why The company doesn't make something more with Their all older animations, all of Them have that big potential. Everything around Disney can't go only around "Let it go"...
@@domi1540 the sequel was a complete joke, but I will give props about Quasi moving on and finding Madeleine. I still think the ending was better as he realized he didn’t need a girlfriend to truly be happy, but someone explained how it was more about self acceptance, and given the sequel is like 7 years later, I can understand that. Pocahontas 2 completely scarred me, like I watched it and Pocahontas when I was like 20ish. Pocahontas and John Smith were my favorite couple as a kid, and as much as the ending completely broke my heart watching them being the ONLY couple that didn’t get a happily ever after, I still dig the bittersweet ending as its more realistic. Yes, Pocahontas is actually my 3rd favorite movie and it really stinks how they’re one of the most underrated couples because Disney stupidly tried romanticizing a rapist case. If their names were different and a few racist issues in the story was resolved better, they’d be so much more popular. Tbh I don’t even really like Ariel, Belle or Jasmine (or their boys) nearly as much as Pocahontas, Tiana and especially Rapunzel. It really irritates me everyone always glazes over Pocahontas stopped a war first before Mulan. Like she’s also more mature and wise than a lot of other princesses imo. But yes, I think both Esmerelda and Kida get largely overlooked because their movies weren’t as successful. Like Atlantis the Lost Empire is severely underrated, it hurts given the villain is also really good.
@@kristinahuchison2511 All the sequels of the animations in that time were nearly mistake, I like the second story of Mulan or Kronk, it's nice that with Quasimodo next to him as his closer friend than Esmeralda appeared Madeline. But all of the sequels was so commercial in real, so cheaper and if they would have been made similar as Tangled series, it could look much much more impressive. I like the Tangled series in 2D style. In real the company doesn't care so much about of Their characters, only this one which got high box office, like Frozen, which I so sorry, I don't like so much, I even like more the Second Frozen movie, than the first and I am tired of over and over again "Let it go" Elsa Anna Elsa Anna Elsa, and a hundreads of merchandise, dolls, Elsa on the horse, Anna in the boat, with Olaf, with Kristoff, with Trolls and however. They are friendly, but They aren't my top favorite. I am much more interested of serial with Kida, Milo and the crew and about a new dolls of Them, Kida with Milo, Kida on the Ketak machine, Kida with Parents...And yes Pocahontas is beautifull, the animation full of color, the music, the views, and I am also much more interested about series with Native people without digging and compare this story with the true real historical.
@@domi1540 I agree. Honestly I seriously don’t get why people love Anna and Elsa so much. I do love Elsa, but Anna imo was kinda immature and slightly annoying sometimes. Like I know part of it is merely being sisters, but hello? Lilo and Nani who undoubtedly had a much more entertaining story about being there for each other, especially with Nani having to sacrifice so much just to keep Lilo from being taken away, and she let her keep a freaking alien too! Like Nani is so underrated. I’m really sad Tangled never actually got a sequel, which sucks given Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are one of if not the most popular Disney couple, and its not hard to see why. Like Tangled is so hilarious with a mix of more mature themes, similar to the Lion King, my overall favorite Disney movie, Tangled is 2 and Pocahontas is 3. Like I heard supposedly Frozen is getting ANOTHER sequel. Come on Disney, LET IT GO. Like just give them a series instead. Not everyone worships Queen Elsa or Anna. I do kinda wish Pocahontas got a series, given most Renaissance movies either did or were planned, except Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan. But I understand why it didn’t (outside of the unfortunate backlash and criticism) because if it focused on after John Smith left, it would’ve felt so off having a main character missing the entire time. Plus the sad ending was kinda the hidden implication that was the story’s ending, like they just never reunited or anything, THE END. But a majority of sequels were legit cash grabs, similar to the live actions as of today. I heard supposedly Disney didn’t even want to make Pocahontas 2, given how much criticism it got, but they KNEW Pocahontas choosing John Rolfe instead was going to piss off a ton of fans. I guess they didn’t anticipate just how much hate it’d get, given none of the sequel is acknowledged or franchised. Like if you ask Pocahontas about Rolfe in the parks, she says she doesn’t know who he is, but stupidly refers to John Smith as a friend instead of, I don’t know, YOUR SOULMATE. But my main point is none of the other sequels were nearly as horrifying as Pocahontas 2. Like Disney really f*cked up by drastically changing their storytelling instead of just rolling with their own mess. Like Pocahontas was already married to Rolfe with a son named Thomas before even going to England, let alone reuniting with John Smith one more time. Tbh I wouldn’t have hated her choosing Rolfe so much IF John Smith had truly died and couldn’t come back, and she learns to accept he’d want her to be happy and its ok to fall in love again! And also Rolfe wasn’t so boring and a jerk. Like John SMITH perfectly fit Pocahontas so well, he’s a free spirit like her who endangered himself several times to protect her!
I was so hoping you'd include Melody, but maybe you didn't want to take sequel princesses into consideration. She's my favourite because she's like a tomboy version of Ariel. She has the beautiful Ariel face but walks and talks kind of like a little boy, and that's so cute to me. She's really cool, and for some reason, I'm super into big time jumps in sequels. I don't like sequels that happen immediately after the happily ever after, but I LOVE a sequel that shows what happens to the characters many years after they got their dream ending. At least Ariel got a 12-year-long break from fighting evil sea witches, instead of immediately facing new problems after her marriage. I wish Melody was more popular, I like her.
I love melody too and was hoping see her featured more in Disney midea's but unfortunately her movie is pretty hated by most of the fan's, ( like seriously i have never seen a positive reviews of the movie all of them were saying that return to the sea is just a weaker version of the first movie ) , it's a Shame because I prefer return to the sea over the little mermaid ( not saying that the little mermaid is bad in any way it might be just because of the nostalgia Bec i watched return of the sea before the little mermaid, but personally the little mermaid got a bit uncomfortable to me bec of Ariel being 16 and married , i know it was normal back in the day for teens to be married but it doesn't mean it isn't uncomfortable)
@@miss.mirana4061 I can't say I like it better than the 1st movie, but I definitely really love it. I don't know why, but I really really enjoy big time jumps in movies. It's similar to the Incredibles, when Bob and Helen get married, then we skip 15 years, and the REAL plot begins. It's a similar feeling here. TLM 2 is a story of what happens years after the happy ending. A new story, new excitement. On the contrary, I absolutely hate prequels and midquels. They always get everything wrong and have no business existing. I hate TLM 3 - Ariel's beginning🤮
Actually Melody like Kiara is a sequel character. So even if she was more popular, it still doesn’t count. It’s similar to how Ariel’s sisters aren’t official because they’re side characters, and not all of them even have lines outside of singing. Like I’m pretty sure only like 3 or 4 appeared in the sequel. I really do love Melody, like I don’t get why consider her bratty, given Ariel flat out refused to tell her why the sea was completely off limits, and scolded her when the necklace appeared instead of just telling her. Its similar to how Mowgli was forced to leave his wolf pack to escape from Shere Khan the tiger, that the man village was much safer, when in the books Mowgli never goes to live with humans.
@@zzenith9846 I actually really loved LM3, because it explained Triton’s strictness especially towards Ariel because she resembles her mom so much, and also her sisters were actually plot relevant instead of simply not understanding her.
I love Melody as well, so I was disappointed that she wasn’t added to the Descendants franchise considering Ariel is the only princess to canonically have a kid.
Yep! It’s all on capitalizing on what was successful back then. Esmerelda actually used to be an official Disney princess, but her movie didn’t do as well and she herself just didn’t sell that much either. Plus they wanted to prevent kids from confusion her with Jasmine and Pocahontas
I can see a case being made for every girl on this list except for Tiger Lily. Obviously we have to address the obvious which is that she’s based on racist stereotypes but there’s also the issue of Tinker Bell’s existence. Tinker Bell has always been arguably the most popular female character from Peter Pan and given Tiger Lily often gets completely snubbed anyways when it comes to people even being able to recognize her, she doesn’t stand a chance against Tink.
What I love about Tinkerbell is her description she's described to be so small that she can only contain 1 emotion at a time. That is what makes think exciting to me. I don't even think she would have the ability to grow as a character because she can only process 1 emotion at a time. What she experiences is all consuming. This actually makes the "I don't believe in faries" line all the heavier in my mind because I assume this would lead tink to believe "nobody believes in me" spurring her into a depression which will in time cause her to die of heart break. Rather self involved character but an awesome concept none the less. I plan to use the same descriptors for animated toys in books I hope to write
I really wish Malina would have made the list at least as an honorable mention. If you don’t know who she is go watch the emperor’s new school it’s a really funny show and if you liked the movie you’ll really like the show. Malina while not being royal is a great role model and a very interesting character. She doesn’t admit to liking Kuzco until he can prove to her that he can become a better person being less selfish and nicer to the people around her. She’s intelligent, hard working, and determined. I wish Kuzco had more representation in the park cause that would probably give Malina a higher chance at being more well known. As it’s possible for characters from spin off shows to become popular in the parks Angel is a great example of that, she’s very well known but most young kids don’t know where the came from because they didn’t see the show but with Disney + kids have the opportunity to see them.
If I remember rightly the copyright around Tarzan is quite strict which is probably why there's not much in the way of merch and they're limited to what they can do. It's why the Tarzan world and characters haven't reappeared in the Kingdom Hearts series since the first game, even in games that revisit the plot of the first game
This video was really interesting and I agree that it would be great to see some of this character part of the Disney princess franchise (like Megara that in my opinion is the best female disney character). The only negative point of this video is that it would be better if instead of personal opinion of why they couldn't be included you would have put the real motivation (cause many of the things you mentioned as: having a love interested, the age, the height etc.. Have nothing to do with the requirements a character need to have to be a Disney princess). For common knowledge just know that the main and necessary requirements are: being disney of course (Pixar is obviously ok too since disney own Pixar), being the main role and center of the story and then having your merchandise sales a lot (and that's the motivation why Esmeralda was removed in 2004, cause for Disney her sales were too poor). Plus I want to add that some of the requirements you mentioned as age and height are, actually, requirements to be taken as a Disney princess actress in disney parks, not in the franchise for the characters
Pocahontas as well. Both are probably the most mature movies of Disney. Like that’s why Pocahontas and John Smith are my favorite couple is because their relationship is more mature and realistic, but also complex than most couples.
The Disney Princesses are very fascinating especially when they appear in the KH franchize. I plan on trying to bring Kingdom Hearts to life as an anime in the hopes of not only tidying up the constantly rewritten yet surprisingly not unsalvageable story of the franchise, tackle unanswered questions, and add more character to those who didn't get as much as they should but also to give Nomura more time to develope the games by having something to tie the fans over. Even if and when i manage to catch the show up with the games the show will tackle stories and lore such as Mickey's keyblade awakening, and Yen Sid's youth as a Key Weilder so Nomura has a bit of extra time to fine tune the latest installment or has an unfortunate delay due to faulty equipment. One of the changes i plan on making involves the Disney Princesses and their roles as the "Princesses of Heart". I am going to establish Criteria that designates them and those who were never confirmed but really should be a Princess of Heart like Mulan, Wendy Darling, and Ariel. And i might need help to keep with the criteria suggestion as i plan to feature most of the Princesses as Cameos when Sora, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Max infiltrate Hollow Bastion for the Reimagining of the first game's story. The Criteria would be that the Seven Chosen Princesses must be the embodiments of the 7 Heavenly Virtues. Based on the confirmed Princesses of Hearts we have: Aurora and Rapunzel who represent Humility Belle who represents Chastity Cinderella and Elsa who represent Dilligence Snow White and Anna who represent Kindness Jasmine who represents Charity Alice who represents Temperance And Kairi would represent Peace which could be seen as the rarest of the 7 virtues as in a metacontextual reference to how She is the most at Peace with her life on Destiny Islands with Riku and Sora and based on memory of the other princesses/candidates/maidens, Kairi doesn't have an "I Want" song. If you had to apply a heavenly virtue to not only the confirmed Disney Princesses (the ones not designated as a princess of heart), and the candidates you brought up in this video what virtue would each of them have?
Imho: if they would remake Peter Pan, they should replace Natives like Tiger Lily with unexisting folk because placing native americans in Neverland makes them look like a fancy fantasy race, not a real people
I would’ve added Nala to this list as well. She had all the aspects of a princess including a great selling movie. The only thing keeping her from being a Disney Princess is the fact that she’s not human
I would add Anastasia and Anastasia (the step sister) in places 1 and 2 respectively because of how much i love the Anastasia movie and also the step sister has a good redemption
Maybe Elena and Sofía could be the building blocks for a possible separate franchise made of TV or alternate princesses. I'm just imagining what it could be like if Disney thought of something like this
I don't think some of those weren't added cause of their age. (Considering snow-white was only 14) I think it was mainly about how much money the movies they were in made.
For me there's 19 Disney princesses member. Snow white, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Sofia, Anna&Elsa, Elena, Moana, Raya, Mirabel and Asha ( the New one )
Okay I was in kindergarten when Hunchback of Notre Dame came out and let me tell you that we were all OBSESSED with Esmerelda. She was beautiful and cool and brave and we ALL begged to be gypsies for halloween that year! (My mom wouldn't let me and in hindsight i know it was because being just "a gypsy" would be offensive) I was SO disappointed when she wasn't made an official princess. Then in first grade I was disappointed again when Megera wasn't made one either because I have Greek heritage - I wanted to badly for her to be a princess so people would think being Greek is cool!
You know the reason why Gisela isn't a part of the lineup because she works better as a dreaming Mary like Disney in the actual Disney princesses you're probably wondering why I said dreaming Mary like princess because what I think I'm just a letter movie is it reminds me of the RPG game dreaming Mary and how Gisele before she got her Philly dress with wearing a flower crown and a very simplistic nice dress
Everyone uses the term damsel in distress incorrectly. They keep using it to refer to the trope where a woman relies on a man to rescue her, but in actuality according to the true definition of the words a damsel in distress is any young single woman who is in distress and based upon that definition almost every lead young female character that's never been married is a damsel in distress at some point in their story regardless of whether or not they rely on a man to rescue them. That's why despite not fitting the trope Meg says, "I'm a damsel. I'm in distress. I can handle this." Damsel- a young unmarried woman Distress- extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain
7:22 the real reson Jane isn't a Disney princes Is because Disney have Lost the rights for Tarzan (and that Is also the reason for the lack of Tarzan merchandis)
@@kingdomorange2 The creators went out of their way to say they didn't want her to end up with anyone but she had aome romantic moments with both Mateo and Gabe that ended up with both of them wanting to do some special dance with her at her crowning, hinting that they both had a thing for her but she ignored their attempted advences, walked past them and went to Naomi to give her a new position, in turn rejecting them. I think they were going for a plotline where the boys had a thing for her but she didn't for them from the beggining cause kust like both of them were convinced they'd have the dance with her at the final, there was an episode where a letter mistake ((the servant was supposed to write "princess elenas best friends" in evsryones letter's but accidentally wrote FRIEND in them, singular)) comvinced Mateo, Gabe and Naomi that they were Elenas best friend. Now Naomi was chill with this cause she is Elemas best friend but the boys WENT ALL OUT argueinf with eachother over Elena to the point they almost got everyone stuck on a boat for eternity and almost killed all cause of their possesivness over Elena and I think the "best friend" aspect of that episode was a methaphor for romance cause again at the end both of them assumed they were gonna get choosen for the romantic dance whixh if i rememebr correctly the dange never even happened after Elena gave Naomi rhe new position or if did happen it was platonic or familial. It was kind of like a love triangle basically where the main person was not interested. In my opinion tho Elena had WAYYYYY more romantic moments with Mateo but i might be biased. Gabe worked well with naomi too and at the end Mateo dances with another girl so idk. From the beggining it was clear she wouldn't end up with anyone cause the creators said so before the show was even released but yea it was just one sided crushes. She didn't have a real loce interest cause she wasn't interested in anyone herself.
Logistically I think it’s Gabe? Naomi is the gal pal BFF and Mateo fills the guy best friend role. He doesn’t really fill a specific type and on paper Gabe fits the bill best.
@@fantasyfiction101 I disagree but then again the creators said she wouldn't have a romance so i guess we're both technically wrong xD it's judt ships at this poiny
Like all the Disney princesses Elena did have a hall of princess introduction at the parks like Merida and Rapunzel did and was officially announced as a Disney princess.
My fav unofficiall princesses: Elena(Elena of Avalor) Star Butterfly(SVTFOE) Megera(Hercules) Alice in Wonderland Calla(Gummy Bears) Sofia the First I love the rest to but these are just my pics. I'm not even going through every princess character in Elena & Sofias shows❤
Its all on capitalizing on their more successful productions, considering Esmerelda and Jane used to be included, despite not performing great heroic acts nor are princesses
Wait Elena is an official princess she was inducted into the princess court 5 years ago I'm not crazy I was there and I'm pretty sure you can find videos about it in RUclips like the actual coronation
She’s not part of the line up so she’s not really part of the line up sucks that they didn’t even give a Latina princess her own movie when I was younger all the Mexican girls looked up either to jasmine because she was the closest one to them even though she’s middle eastern also they looked up to Pocahontas and mulan.
Okay okay. But Sally from the nightmare before Christmas. She would be a fun addition mainly because her design as a whole can help her stand out from the princess line up. As sweet as she can be, she’s shown bravery in attempting to free Santa Claus and even yelling at the Oogie Boogie man. Now I get why she wouldn’t be a Disney Princess bc her look isn’t the pretty princess look but her movie did pretty well and she did even get her own stand alone novel sooo…. Disney I’m just saying
I don't know why but like Kita from the Atlantis movies because there is multiple movies for that remind me a lot of princess basically I can't remember her name right now but like it's a princess from this like show called Voltron who is this elf like species called Alton's
For Jane, I honestly don't think it's any of those reasons... it's most likely the fact that Tarzan was licensed by Disney and is not in the Public Domain 😢
The scene where Tinker Bell dies because she doesn't get enough attention really speaks to me.
Lol me when boys don't respond to my text!
lol true
Oh and if you give Sofia and Elena another chance I recommend watching their final seasons. There’s arcs and pretty action packed.
There was a time I watched it with my little sisters, I was suprised by how good it is.
Agreed.
Honestly I never noticed the Tinkerbell stuff until you mentioned it. Like Disney brand Tinkerbell vs Peter Pan's Tinkerbell are two completely different characters, it's amusing
Like she was made into a likeable character.
like Disney fairy tinkerbell was curious and stubborn while Peter Pan tinker bell was jealous and downright mean.
also curious of the lore of jake and the neverland pirates. jake and his friends seem the age of 7-10 and no sign of parents can be seen. did Peter bring them to neverland because they arent lost children which is what kids peter brings to neverland end up being.
yes this is a spin off show so it doesn't really follow the lore of peter pan since there are other adults there than hook and his crew and the chief (thank god) but we can see it takes place right after peter pan hence the episode where wendy recovers her lost pages of her story book and her and her brothers being the same ages as they were in the movie
I would've put Megara at #1. She was always the most personality-based for me.
Rightt
exactly. also the first three stf seasons were really good, not even boring (the last season wasn’t bad per se but they added too many elements they couldn’t give proper attention to in one season imo)
@@princessatellaluma exactly the fourth season isn’t that bad for me and I actually enjoyed it but agree with the elements thing.
@@princessatellaluma samee agree about the roland flashback we definitely should have gotten more information on sofia’s father.
Yeah right Sofia was incredible. Yes sometimes I do find her very boring but for the majority of time she was interesting. I would have put her in the fifth place
And I would rank Elena in the first place
I ranked Raya on my official Disney Princess list.
It's easy.
@@EndRUclipsShorts_ Right, they may all have darker skin, but they don't look similar one bit.
The other reason Gisele didn't become an official Disney princess is because her movie wasn't fully animated 😕
then the same should go to Tiana since she was a frog most of the movie which basically made her whole "first black princess" thing shoved under the rug
That’s what I figured. Same with Mia Thermopolis from the Princess Diaries
The fact that Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, who is in-universe a Princess of Heart alongside the likes of Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, is not on this list is a crime against humanity.
J/k of course but still. I was really hoping to see her here.
Was disappointed Alice being a disney princess of heart wasn't mentioned during her segment for reasons why she should make the official disney lineup
I was thinking the exact same thing!
@@XxMusicxKelseyxX THIS! I was about to comment that Alice was labeled as a princess in Kingdom Hearts. lol
I think you should've included Anastasia instead of Tiger Lily. And yes Anastasia because she is now a Disney owned property hehehhee
That might be a good idea for a future video?
Same with thumbelina
@@kristinahuchison2511 Raya is official, actually.
Oh and Jane too!
same. you know who else should be in the lineup too? princess kida from the atlantis movies. idc if the movie didn't have any songs or it didn't do well on box office
Sofia is my favorite Disney princess. She's so innocent and cute, but she's also a brave hero when she needs to be!
Agreed! Thank you! I was upset when he said she was boring. I think it’s his fault for not watching the whole series
Exactly!
Yes thank you
I watched the first three seasons and they were surprisingly good and entertaining
Sofia is definitely a good role model for children
@@AvilioAmici Yeah, she's such a sweetie!
You say that age has a large impact on why these girls aren't considered with the main princesses...
Pocahontas was 11-12 in her original story, (Disney changed this for the story)
Snow white was 13 IN THE DISNEY MOVIE
Yeah and it certainly doesn’t help that Snow White’s prince is like 18 in the movie
Snow White's age is actually never verified. That's literally an internet rumor that started from a Buzzfeed article
thiss
@@sofia7816 actually 35 lol. But nothing compared to Milo and Kida, given she’s like 8800 years old. XD
Jane basically just goes to Africa for research and ends up unexpectedly falling for Tarzan.
Elena is a Princess for the majority of her show~
I strongly believe disney should make a doll series for the younger characters (like Wendy, Alice ,Jane -Wendy's daughter-,Melody -ariels daughter-,Miguel from coco,Isabel-Elena's sister ,Sofia , eliowne etc). They could name it Disney's little heroes or something like it . Also I strongly believe they should add Esmeralda, jane ,Anastasia ,meg and gissele on the line !
Megara DID sing in "Hercules". She sings "I Won't Say (I'm In Love) with the Muses doing backup vocals.
Tinker bell is so popular, because she was made the mascot of Disneyland
I believe Disney confirmed Meg is a few years older, being the only girl aside Kida whose older than her man
8:25 ish, Elena never had a love interest. Also Eilonwy is a gem in her movie, I like her a lot too.
Well let's hope Kida gets made into a official Disney princess soon because they're making a live-action movie, it has been confirmed 😁
My favorite is Alice and I actually wished she was added to the lineup!
The only factor to being a Disney Princess is how much you earn💰
Yep! It’s all on capitalizing on what was successful back then. Esmerelda actually used to be an official Disney princess, but her movie didn’t do as well and she herself just didn’t sell that much either. Plus they wanted to prevent kids from confusion her with Jasmine and Pocahontas
12:38 Hopefully there will not be a Hercules liveaction remake. We already got to many
Wow. So interesting another one of your videos that I love. So well done.
Actually elena is a princess she have her crowning ceremony in Disney with the other princesses
Kida always slept on😪
What I love about Tinkerbell is her description she's described to be so small that she can only contain 1 emotion at a time.
I think disney should make a priness really show to 1 give the girls on this list to shine and 2 to cover what we don't know?
I just found your channel and am OBSESSED with your videos
Thank you so much! That means a lot
I love the black cauldron
Esmeralda is one of my favorite Disney characters and Meg as well
Elena counts as a Disney Princess!!!💃🏻❤️
Seeing Giselle being first place makes me so happy. Enchanted is such an underrated gem.
I love Giselle too!!
Meg and Kida are my favs
I really love these other girls and wish they would get more attention
I actually liked hunchback of notre dame. Sure, it was dark but I think kids could still watch it
Pocahontas as well. Both are probably the most mature movies of Disney. Like that’s why Pocahontas and John Smith are my favorite couple is because their relationship is more mature and realistic, but also complex than most couples.
My favorite is Alice and tinkerbell
Another one that I push for that fully doesn't have a chance is Katrina Van Tussle from Mr Toad & Ichabod Crane
Based on the confirmed Princesses of Hearts we have:
Aurora and Rapunzel who represent Humility
Belle who represents Chastity
Cinderella and Elsa who represent Dilligence
Snow White and Anna who represent Kindness
Jasmine who represents Charity
Alice who represents Temperance
And Kairi would represent Peace which could be seen as the rarest of the 7 virtues as in a metacontextual reference to how She is the most at Peace with her life on Destiny Islands with Riku and Sora and based on memory of the other princesses/candidates/maidens, Kairi doesn't have an "I Want" song.
If you had to apply a heavenly virtue to not only the confirmed Disney Princesses (the ones not designated as a princess of heart), and the candidates you brought up in this video what virtue would each of them have?
Imho: if they would remake Peter Pan, they should replace Natives like Tiger Lily with unexisting folk because placing native americans in Neverland makes them look like a fancy fantasy race, not a real people
Love ur vids
I would’ve added Nala to this list as well. She had all the aspects of a princess including a great selling movie. The only thing keeping her from being a Disney Princess is the fact that she’s not human
I would add Anastasia and Anastasia (the step sister) in places 1 and 2 respectively because of how much i love the Anastasia movie and also the step sister has a good redemption
I fully agree with the top 5
Sofia the first imo is definitely not boring but I do like Vanellope, Giselle, and Megara, also Elena and Sofia of course.
Kida is my favorite ❤️
Maybe Elena and Sofía could be the building blocks for a possible separate franchise made of TV or alternate princesses. I'm just imagining what it could be like if Disney thought of something like this
I don't think some of those weren't added cause of their age. (Considering snow-white was only 14) I think it was mainly about how much money the movies they were in made.
What about Anna and Elsa or Mirabel
I feel like its dumb to determine a princess based on how well they do at the box office, But that’s Disney unfortunately.
For me there's 19 Disney princesses member.
Snow white, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Sofia, Anna&Elsa, Elena, Moana, Raya, Mirabel and Asha ( the New one )
Ooh Sophia’s voice actor is Ariel winter! She was in the quarry. I love the quarry!
Not the Sofia hate~ she is THE best
Fr
Right! He’s RUDE for dissing her.😒
The fact that Sofia is voiced by Ariel Winter was really shocking when I first found out
for me, Kida is number 1
whats your opinion on kilala reno? shes my favorite unofficial princess but i never see anyone talk about her!
I can handle this."
Damsel- a young unmarried woman
Distress- extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain
7:22 the real reson Jane isn't a Disney princes Is because Disney have Lost the rights for Tarzan (and that Is also the reason for the lack of Tarzan merchandis)
WAIT WHEN YOU SAID ELENA HAS A LOVE INTEREST WERE YOU REFERRING TO MATEO OR GABE?!?!!?!? U NEED TO KNOW
Wasn't Gabe her love interest. I stopped watching after Season 2 in all honesty.
@@kingdomorange2
The creators went out of their way to say they didn't want her to end up with anyone but she had aome romantic moments with both Mateo and Gabe that ended up with both of them wanting to do some special dance with her at her crowning, hinting that they both had a thing for her but she ignored their attempted advences, walked past them and went to Naomi to give her a new position, in turn rejecting them. I think they were going for a plotline where the boys had a thing for her but she didn't for them from the beggining cause kust like both of them were convinced they'd have the dance with her at the final,
there was an episode where a letter mistake ((the servant was supposed to write "princess elenas best friends" in evsryones letter's but accidentally wrote FRIEND in them, singular)) comvinced Mateo, Gabe and Naomi that they were Elenas best friend.
@@fantasyfiction101
I disagree but then again the creators said she wouldn't have a romance so i guess we're both technically wrong xD it's judt ships at this poiny
Was that NICK from ZOOTOPIA.I am so sad I didn’t see that until now
Omg they need a live action movie for Hercules rn !!!!!!!!!
There's one in the works.
@@jokerlyzermedia6603 me after reading that: *screeching*
Like all the Disney princesses Elena did have a hall of princess introduction at the parks like Merida and Rapunzel did and was officially announced as a Disney princess.
Vanellope was freaking AWESOME
My fav unofficiall princesses:
Elena(Elena of Avalor)
Star Butterfly(SVTFOE)
Megera(Hercules)
Alice in Wonderland
Calla(Gummy Bears)
Sofia the First
I love the rest to but these are just my pics.
I'm not even going through every princess character in Elena & Sofias shows❤
I might be Kida for Halloween 🦇
My favourite is Alice! I really love her movie too :)
when I was a kid I loved enchanted and when I found out that Giselle isn't an official Disney Princess made me soooo sad
My grandma has this doll house and she has a Esmeralda figure but I dident know who she was xD so I just thought she was a random princess
i literally thought elena & giselle ARE disney princesses
"...or they are out sponken and complain about silly things" adds a scene of merida*. bffr. 9:32
I was Megara for Halloween 🦇 in 2018!!!!!!
Giselle needs to be an official Disney princess
Oh and they made a 17inch megara dol lfor the anniversary of hercules and shes so dam pretty
The answer is MONEY and popularity
I'm gonna be Tiger Lily for Halloween 🦇🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
unpopular opinion but u totaly forgot about Anastasia and she is 100% the best princess!
STOP I LOVE SOFIA THE FIRST SO MUCH SHE IS THE BESTEST
ME TOO!💗💗
For Jane, I honestly don't think it's any of those reasons... it's most likely the fact that Tarzan was licensed by Disney and is not in the Public Domain 😢
What about Mirabel? Lilo?
