- Hey everyone, it's Bless!
Today I had Craig (my art robot) find out the native language of each Disney Princess! I then reacted to each one singing in her native tongue and ranked it 1-10. Which Disney Princess song was your favorite?

Fun fact: Moana means "Ocean" or something like that in Maori 😂😊
oceania (yes thats a real name)
I’m from New Zealand and yes your right
True
Moana is from Tahiti not New Zealand
i knew dat broskie
2:17 Denmark is where the author is from.
People complain that if it really takes place in the Mediterranean Sea that she should be speaking Italian or something
Hans Christian Andersen
@@angieakasara cool
Except almost none of the characters' names is italian.😕Vanessa is italian, but Ariel,Eric,Flounder,Scuttle,Sebastian...none of these is an italian name. And believe me,I WISH Ariel was Italian...I WISH we had an Italian Disney Princess...but I doubt Ariel is. On the other hand _Aurora_ could be Italian,if we consider that the very 1st version of"The Sleeping Beauty" is an Italian fairytale called"Sole,Luna e Talia(Sun,Moon and Talia)"by Gianbattista Basile. And Aurora _is_ an Italian name(and in the italian adaptation we did translate all the other names like Filippo,Malefica and the 3 little fairies)!Also..we're already full of French Princesses..we can lose one!;-P
Ah
I understood the frenchs
I'm pretty sure Pocahontas would have spoken Algonquian. But I think the language is endangered or possibly extinct unfortunately.
🫢🫢Wow, really!?🫢🫢
@@brooklynrobles3794 That's what I have heard. I think it was mostly spoken just by her tribe which is why it was also called the Powhatan language. I don't even know if the Powhatan tribe still exists today or not or how many there were in the tribe originally or what happened to them. I'm sure their descendents still exist today, but I don't know. I don't know much about them. It would be interesting to research more about them. The only thing I know about them was what language they spoke. I don't even know if anyone can learn the language because of how little it's spoken or not at all now, so very little is probably known about the actual language except that it once existed. It's the reason you'll never hear Pocahontas speaking it in these kinds of videos where the princesses speak their native language. But it's good to note it.
Since Pocahontas was actually a real person (the real Pocahontas was a lot younger when she met John Smith, though) the language she spoke prior to that meeting (as she moved to Europe eventually, if I ain't mistaken and would ultimately also die in Europe, but I need to look that up) should be traceable somehow.
Really oh wow
I'm sorry but I have to correct this mistake the word you're looking for is( Navajo) (navaho) that's how you pronounce it
Navajo is pronounced: nah-vah-ho. And the real Pocahontas spoke a now-extinct language called Powhatan- a variation of Eastern Algonquin spoken by the natives in the Virginia area.
Danish is the official language of Denmark.
I don’t know if Moana was a Māori (pronounced: mah-O-ree), but she certainly was from somewhere in South Pacific, so any Polynesian language would have worked.
Zulu can work for Nala, but I would have preferred Swahili.
Thank you!! This is super helpful to know!
We good?
Zulu is the only language from Africa Disney has ever dubbed
I just send it one to my dad
my favorite was mulan, I have always wanted to speak manderian taiwanse and i finally got to see mulan do it in her native language. love ur videos!!!
I got confused by that part. Isn’t she supposed to speak Mandarin Chinese?
@@matthewbettinazzi7657It’s the same.
In Taiwan they speak Cantonese in China they speak Mandarin
@@karenweeks1449no, I’m Taiwanese and we speak Mandarin.
fun fact: Anastasia main language would have been French because French was at the time for the nobility and Russian was spoken by the commoners. Kind of like in England at some point in their history.
alright, didn’t know that! But also in the Disney film Anastasia was only a child when the “Downfall” of her family happened and so she was raised in an orphanage, until she was kicked out some point in the movie, so she would technically speak Russian as she also had memory loss from her past (as a Grand Duchess of Russia)
@@idap8034yes true but I was talking about real life not the FOX movie
@@sachamiklusiak6618 oh, then good to know then! (I’m unironically a royal/upperclass history nerd)
Like, not really... Russians were fascinated by French culture, what we even can notice a little in Anastasia, but it's not like the Russian nobility was talking fluent French anyhow... It never happened x.x
It was more like a random mix of words to sound fancy like English in Japan... Or English in many European countries even now... Or yeah, like French in England at some point, but it wasn't fluent and didn't have anything to do with not using native language at all.
Besides, saying "Russian was spoken by the commoners"... You do remember Anastasia lost her memories and spent her life in the awful and poor orphanage, right?...
@@KateConstabla It’s a animated movie, I was talking about the real Romanov family. So I didn’t take into a count that she lived in an orphanage. And what you said was wrong. French was used primarily during the period of Tsar Alexander 1st. And each Tsar chose what language they preferred the court to primarily speak. Your comment was so condescending but in the end…wrong.
The funny thing with making Agrabah Arabic, is that Aladdin himself is supposed to be Chinese, but is drawn with Indian genetics. The Sultan's palace in Agrabah is drawn like the Taj Mahal, which is in India. Most everything else in Aladdin makes more sense in India than in the proper Middle East.
true but the final movie took place in arabia
i believe the 9th cenutry arabian peninsula
1: The J in Navajo is pronounced with an H sound.
2: Shouldn't Colors Of The Winds be in Algonquin or something? The Navajo tribe are from the New Mexico/Arizona region. Nowhere near New England.
I guess they didn’t have a dub available in Powhaton or Virginian Algonquin
Sadly, Powhatan, and all other Eastern Algonquin languages became extinct (with the exception of Mi'kmaq and Malecite-Passamaquoddy, and those languages are critically endangered).
The closest Native extant language in which I've seen at least a partial dubbing exists for would be Western Ojibwe (or Saulteaux). Which, -- while the nations who speak it now are mostly within the Southeastern quadrant of Canada -- is at least within the Algonquin language family
Also not to be that guy, but Virginia is not New England. I know ironic but New England consists of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island, but not New York for some reason.
@@HaunaMyKiki I hate it when languages die :/
@@HaunaMyKiki also the video is a fandub not an actual dub. Only a few movies have indigenous dubs and they're also only Polynesian languages and Sami
For the Rapunzel one, in German she didn't say crochet. You might have misunderstood with "kochen" which is cooking. She did say knitting just before cooking which is "stricke"
I’m German and when you said it triggered you when she said crochet instead of knitting, she didn’t. She said "stricken" which means knitting in German

They picked way too old a voice actress for Ariel in Danish. She doesn't sound 16. She sounds 35!
Danish means she's from Denmark not dayland
I heard her call it Daneland, but yes she's wrong, it's Denmark that's for sure
She didn't say dayland. She said dayland.
WOAH BLESS VOICE SOUNDS LIKE A LITERALLY DISNEY CHARACTER BRUH BLESS VOICE IS SO PRETTY
i have family from Norway and i have started to understand Norwegian over the past 11 years
The Little Mermaid is Confirmoed to be seen in Italy Just because Hans Christian Andersen was Danish Doesn"t mean story takes place in Denmark
🌟I agree. I'm American. But I could write a story that takes place in Greece. Just because I'm American doesn't mean the story I wrote takes place in America.
Fun Fact: "The Ice Queen" on which the story of "Frozen" was loosely based is also written by Hans Christian Andersen. Yet in this video both Anna and Elsa spoke Norwegian. (Now in the original story the Ice Queen was nameless and Gerda tried to melt the ice queen's heard and was not the queen's sister. Disney replaced Gerda by Anna and the Ice Queen herself with Elsa and turned the two into sisters. But I said it before "loosely" based).

Why everyone are forgetting about Snow White? T-T
Btw, Anna and Elsa are indeed not in the Disney Princesses franchise, but only because they have their own franchise, which gives Disney more $$ than Princess one... And Disney often adds Anna and Elsa for example to storybooks about Disney Princesses anyway. So including these two still has some sense.
Aurora broke her brain 😂(4:17)
Lol
"Disney Princesses singing in their native languages? That would be absolutely breathtaking! 🎶👑 Imagine Moana in Polynesian, Mulan in Mandarin, and Elsa belting Let It Go in Norwegian! ❄✨ Hearing each princess embrace their culture would add a magical and authentic touch to their songs. 🌟💖 Music that celebrates diversity is always the best kind of music! 🌍🎤"

1:14 Pocahontas was based on a real person and shes in the Powhatan tribe, Unfortunately there's no full version of native american languages nor Powhatan, the one you're watching is a multi language, which is not a full version of the languages

I loved how this video is about what culturethe princesses came from and its also very entertaining! Thank u bless! We love ya!
I get that for Pocahontas she is once singing in an indigenous language, but appart from that it's a random choice. She is Powhatan and Eastern American. In a merely historical sense it would make more sense for her to sing in English, as she would actually speak the language, although she isn't native, and that particular song was a lesson to John Smith. Navajo and Powhatan people now live in the same country and are considered to be within the same race, but they are different cultures, speak unrelated languages, and had the English never got there they would be still aliens to each other.
My top 5
5. Elsa
4. Mulan
3. Anna
2. Vaiana
1. Nala

Emily Barnes in "Camelorum Adventures" has it easy. She's from Virginia, and goes to Delaware, then makes new friends, and they all get in trouble very quickly, because Xiboruty messes with them. Therefore, her song "Less Stress" was always supposed to be in English. It's the fact that it's supposed to be like a Disney princess song, but she's not a princess, and it isn't Disney. And the fact that the song is written as a ska tune - a genre Disney avoids like the plague!
All you have to do to get the sound for her song "Less Stress," is do your best impersonation of the band Save Ferris. It was written in their style.
Mulan sounded just right speaking her native language
Rapunzel never said crochet
She said kochen, which means to cook

that was fun lets do a part 2
In the song, I am Moana they say fucking crazy😂
Disney should've dubbed Pocahontas into an Algonquian language. Yes, Powhatan is extinct, but other languages in its family still live. I give the Navajo (that's pronounced in the Spanish manner; na-va-ho) dub 4 out of 10 for being about as related to Powhatan as Hungarian is to English. But then, this is the same studio that substituted Yup'ik and Inupiaq for Koyukon and Dena'ina, even though in both those cases it would've actually been more accurate linguistically to substitute Navajo.
Fun fact: The bird song in that Cinderella morning scene is actually the western meadowlark, which is endemic to North America and doesn't have a speck of red on it anywhere. I let it slide, though, because it's my favorite songbird.
The single most accurate dub for Moana would've been Samoan. Also, the Maori are from New Zealand. There is a Hawaiian dub in which Auli'i Cravalho reprises her role, but anyone who tries to leak it to the mainland is never heard from again. A steamboat pulls up...and the offending netizen vanishes...and the only evidence is a faint whistle carried on the wind; one that sounds all too familiar.

The Powhatan Tribe is related to Algonquin and Iroquois, not Navajo.
Hey Girl, rapunzel is singing about "Stricken" what means knitting and not crochet. Crochet in german is "Häckeln". ;)
In Greek, those statues coming to life sound even more like the Fates taunting her. Which is perfect for a tale set in Greek mythology. But funny, given how that movie gets so many other things about ancient Greek religion wrong.
Rapunzel says, knitting, tho, not crochet, english isn't my first language, but I always thought stricken is knitting in english? I thought häkeln is crochet? (also, I don't know if you spell crchet that way)
