That is not thick rough. Thick rough around our course is 4-5 inches long, thick, and you can barely see the ball.
Thought you were about to lead me to another video as soon as you said, "well I actually have a system that's going to break this down for you". Lol
Edit: LMAO! You sly bastard.. I should have finished the video before making that comment.
what about the shots that you have little green to work with where the pin is 5 feet from the rough of the green. those I flub all time and drives me nuts.
Here is a good idea, but just a thought........ when making a golf swing video don't put captions over the SHOT!!!!!!!!!!
Stuff of nightmares. Reaching the green in two or three strokes, and then ruining your score by a thin/thick shot with the wedge.
Hello Clay, you must be watching my practice sessions, I’ve been dialing in my wedges lately.
I’ve also been wondering how many people out there watch your videos, try to imitate you, and wack their ankle with their iron.....
😂
Where I play we have super thick rough less than a foot from about 18" of fringe. We often has maybe 10-12' between the rough and the pin. I literally cannot do that shot. So freaking frustrating.
That sounds frustrating for sure. I'd try and play as conservative as possible in that scenario and hit to the fat part of the green like Clay mentions in the video. I'd also spend a decent amount of my practice time hitting balls out of that rough, so I could be as proficient as possible. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor
Hey clay I just wanted to make a comment I was watching a video of your on shallowing the driver I gotta tell you by the straight hand at take away and palm up to sky and then flexing wrist at impact is incredible ,,,, I filmed my self before and after and I shollowed club from top of shoulder maybe at ear to middle of shoulder on down swing incredible ty sooo much !! I must of gain foot and half of shallowing awesome!!
That's great to hear Kevin! Thanks for sharing.
Love your tips. It's help me lower my handicap tremendously!
Great to hear!
Bryson is a master at this he worked out to get strong enough to cut the grass like a sling blade to hit the ball hahahahahaa
😂
This is great..been waiting for something like this..
Thanks!
I have 3-4" fescue and have a real tough time getting it out, especially to short pins. Will give this a go today. Thanks.
Good luck!
When you open the club face are you also opening up your stance?
Yes
Oh! You mean the *Drop-n-Stop™* outta the rough? 😀👍
👍
Hey Clay, I have a problem pushing my putts any tips?
Keep your lower body quiet and rock your shoulders.
How do I keep the lower body quiet?
same technique out of KY bluegrass
I would love a video on good contact on soggy ground with rather thick grass (like first cut) and basically how to play from thicker grass under wet conditions... Had to cancel my TSG subscription due to an injury and now rejoining would cost more than 20$ more a year. So I am glad I can follow the youtube channel.
Move it back farther in your stance, use enough loft, and firm grip.
You can also use the chop technique
👍
I needed you on Friday 😢
Hope this helps!
Putt it
thanks Clay a real shot saver !
My pleasure!
Thanks, Clay.
Great tips. I do need practice on this scenario. I always thought being lite was better. That's probably why I am 50/50 on thinning this shot.
Hope it helps!
I find using my wedge as a putter. Using only the toe of the club with a upright shaft, no shaft lean toward you or forward. Using just the toe of the club allows my to play those Florida shots when I visit over the winter. Thanks for your hard work on the videos :)
