Why has nobody ever taught us this! awesome lesson! Rick shiels will make a 26th how not to slice video next week but will never match these lessons. Thank you Padraig.
This channel is going to explode once the YT algorithms catch up! Any chance of a video with tips for playing long shots from fairway bunkers please? Thanks Captain H!
This is pure gold. I always struggle to understand the lie in the rough and predict when the ball will come out dead or as a flier. Just yesterday I had a ball with the lateral grain which came out straight right and out of bounds: I thought I almost shanked it, but now I understood why it happened. Thanks captain, excellent video nobody explained me before.
Into the grain, from the rough, greenside is my cryptonite! You have to take such a big swing and I’m always worried about catching it clean that I decelerate. My mind tells my body, “Woah buddy! That swing is way too long for this distance, slow down buddy!” as I dump the ball a yard in front of me. Made me feel better seeing a major winner dump a couple on video to demonstrate how tough it really is! Thx Paddy
This is such a good video. It's amazing that there are so many videos about hitting out of the rough and they all focus on one technique without clarifying what works where. This is illuminating.
I’m subscribed to pretty much every RUclips golfer channel - never leave likes on their videos… lol nor do any of them have any videos this informing. 3x major champion who has no need for the RUclips channel income… with a RUclips Channel?? I’ve liked every single video he has. Lol Once YT algorithm picks up his channel, this is going to be biggest golf channel on YT - Thank you, and keep the videos coming please!
Thank you Paddy from the bottom of my heart. Liked and love every single vid you did. Thank you for taking your time to do that even though we all know you don't need to. Would appreciate if you could share tips on hitting irons solid and where you look at the ball (behind, after, middle, left edge, right edge, etc). Have a great weekend!
Great tip. This could really help my game because unfortunately I do end up hitting several shots from the rough every time I play. Absolutely love the tips you give on all your videos. Stay safe and healthy and play good.
Hey Padraig! Your videos are the absolute simplest and most effective golf videos I have ever watched. They are perfectly balanced with knowledge and tips. I am extatic to have found these videos. I have already watched about 10 of them and I'll have to go back and watch them again when I go practice. I've watched the other bunker videos, but fairway bunkers and 40-120 yard bunker shots would be an awesome topic to see you disect. I will be sharing these videos with any and everyone who will listen!
I've watched hundreds of hours of golf tips from lots of pros and coaches, your the only one that touches on subjects like this - Thank-you Paddy. I plan on watching all your videos. I just retired and play to about a 5 hdcp hoping to get to scratch before I get too old.
This a very valuable information! Such a struggle for amateurs like me to adjust between different types of rough and especially green side rough and this explanation helps a lot.
Great video! One thing he didn’t mention that is super important: out of the rough, the ball will launch much higher than a normal wedge shot trajectory, closer to the dynamic loft of the club, as there is little friction between face and ball. This is another reason you need to hit it harder than you might think.
Thank you Padraig. Please could you do a vid on wedge bounce out of wet greenside bunkers. My LW and SW are 8° and GW 12°. Im somewhat in a dilemma for short sided shots from wet lies requiring height and stop
@@PadraigHarringtonOfficial Amen, and how you play them with f ball is plugged in or if it sits up on tall grass. Newbie here. Thank you millions. You are my official RUclips coach.
Paddy, great stuff here! What about the times for us amateur golfers where there’s thick rough green side, matted down because of the golf carts? The grass direction will be perpendicular to the hole.
This info is gold but it doesn't work much on the rough at my courses. I play in Scotland and our rough is a foot tall upwards! This is the round shattering rough that I need to learn how to get out of. Any tips would be great!
Amazing! Having said that, watching Padraig send ball after ball right next to the flag from some ridiculous lies makes for an inspiring, yet slightly depressing, viewing :)
Is it just me? I've learned more from 3 of his video tips than a lifetime of listening to other experts. Top man Padraig.
Its not just you. It makes total sense once he explains it

The best online golf lessons from the best, period, no competition.
This is some masterclass stuff. Can't believe we're getting it for free.
Getting golfing tips from Padraig .. Is like getting painting tips from Van Gouge... Take advantage people ☘️🇮🇪
i know! I feel like I owe him money haha
Paddy Paddy you the Daddy! Forget about it!
Great video, you really should have more subs. Lots of people are missing out!
This has to be one of the best bits of golf advice on RUclips. This knowledge through experience is so good to know
Glad you enjoyed it
Paddy tells you stuff I've never seen anywhere else. Priceless !
You are the best Padraig! So clear.
Paddy does have a pot of gold. Thank you so much for sharing.

Very helpful! Red Diamond Creator award for Paddy! Haha
Best lesson on playing from the rough I've ever watched in my life. Thank you, sir.
Well done. What a putt on 18!
Go for it OMP! Good luck in the morning.
👌🏻👌🏻 incredible as always
Brilliant. Thanks 👍
great work PH
Pure Gold Padraig. Thank you for sharing.
I didn't expect a golf lesson involving both physics and plant biology! But it absolutely makes sense now. Padraig - you are a genius.
Great player and also a great coach

Golden. Priceless.
Love all of these videos!!
Thanks! I had too many shots out of thick rough today, needed a caddy with your knowledge! I’m more aware now!
Gold. Don't know why more instructors don't tell you this stuff! You see it many many times every round
These videos are awesome! Thank you!
Great lesson! I’ve never seen a video on this topic as succinct( and I’ve watched a lot!). Thanks for taking the time to make these!
Great info! Thanks Padraig!👍🏽

Only question I have on this video is does ball position change in the rough vs regular shots?

Love a round with Padraig... please
Thanks Padraig. You put it in good perspective. Just think that it can be more helpful if you also cover club selection when hitting from the rough.
Could make for a good extension video.
Thank you in advance.
