In movie making , actors get all of the credit , special effect people , camera crew , foley artist , set builders that built all of the indoor scene and the music people , are the key element in making movie magic
Just think in over a years time from now this film will be 30 years old, damn i miss my childhood, growing up in the 90s were superb, much better times than now!
Yup I know its mostly nostalgia talking but it's true..childhood really can be magical especially around Christmas. I remember my mom and her best friend taken me to see this movie on Thanksgiving 1990 and the theatre was packed and everyone was laughing and cheering throughout the movie. Afterward I went home and tried to build my own "Kevin Booby traps" of course they were terrible and didn't work but as a child I believed it was possible. Definitely miss the 90s, best times!
It's a pure synergy to me! Saying it's mostly the music is severely underrating the brilliant script, acting and cinematography. Not that John Williams didn't write on of the greatest soundtracks of all time for this movie :).
+monicapyle I also liked John Candy in this movie who played a musician at the airport that helped the mom out by giving her a ride back home in a rental truck to see her son again after all the flights were full & canceled. I liked him in Uncle Buck too.
He also appeared as a slimy senator in a "Person of Interest" episode. There was a scene where Jim Caviezel reveals that he shot at him, and he immediately cries "Security!" It was a great gag; nothing but prayers to Jesus and love for his family.
I'm so glad they went with the emotional subplot with the old man instead of the "just hung around" freeze frame idea. That gives the movie so much heart and depth!
This movie is a timeless classic, a masterpiece, the soundtrack is out of this world, the cast, story, just everything is perfect, they really dont make movies like this anymore cause most directors and scriptwriters dont pay attention to details, they are more focused on money, cgi and other bullshit, the magic and hard work of the 80s,90s will be unmatched forever
Home Alone 1 and 2 are freaking treasures. They are to me what Gone With The Wind probably was to my great grandparents. Excellent music, comedy, actors. Perfect dichotomy of slapstick and serious. Masterpieces.
Thanks the producers and directors that came up with this legendary Christmas 🎄 movie!!! This movie is forever the greatest Christmas movie ever made home alone 1 and 2 it wouldn’t never be like this nomore 😔
All the cast and crew members were awesome, but I really think two people stand above all others. And that's Chris Columbus, the director, and John Williams, the composer. These two are true legends and truly massively talented.... And they would go on to do Harry Potter and Philosopher's Stone together, another masterpiece.
This is from the Family Fun Edition dvd that came out in 2006. Which is 16 yrs after the movie came out but when they filmed all of these interviews it could've been closer to 15 yrs
They really know what the were doing back then. Like when the kids say they've been told the movie will still be aired 15 years down the line, they were right. Some classic movies may be lightning in a bottle but this one was meant to be one and it surely delivered. As for me, I can't spend Xmas without watching it.
I watch this movie every single day. It’s my comfort movie ( I have really bad anxiety and it’s super comforting ) I’m so grateful for this movie and will continue to watch it for the rest of my life.
I've always has really bad anxiety. I totally sympathize. Idk if I could watch Home Alone every single day but yeah, whatever it takes to get you through. Any other movies you watch to ease anxiety?
@@8bitakvidsI’m not the OP (hell that was 3 years ago anyway rip them) but as a cinephile with also real bad anxiety bigs one for me are Lebowski , Broken Flowers, About Schmidt, Thelma and Louise… or I’ll throw on Cowboy Bepop - road-trip movies are always relaxing to me. 30 years later and still a hit movie seen so many times ,so wonder in 50 years if people r still on this planet the newer generation will they like it as much as older generation did if available lol.
My youngest was born in 1990 my other children watched it on video a few years later and my middle one burst into tears at the end when the mum comes home he said 'I don't like this movie mummy' when I asked him why he said 'Because it makes me cry' he was only about 3 or 4 years old 🥰
John said he wanted the comedic Tunes to sound cartoonish, wow I never really noticed that..and the getting out of bed scene and them running in the house etc..it did sound like a cartoon...mans a genius!!!
I would love it if Macaulay Culkin returned as Kevin McCallister in a new Home Alone movie. I know he said he wouldn't do it again, but I think Macaulay would do it again if the director made sure Kevin McCallister had a love interest as an adult.
If they do make a new Home Alone with Culkin, they should make something different with it. In the first two films, it was about him finding out (twice) that being alone wasn’t so fun. This time they should make Kevin trying to invite people (e.g. his family) to his home, but things don’t go so easy, but he keeps fighting for it anyway. Maybe have him invite Harry and Marv for Christmas who both rehabilitated from their time in prison. And instead of using booby traps to fight criminals, he could use his improvised gadgets and tools to help and save someone, like victims in a train trash or something.
I was actually a little bit disturbed by that. Joe would have had to bite way too hard to even be able to create a scar. You would think that a grown man, particularly an actor that has to care about stunt safety, would be able to control his jaws enough not to tear the skin like that. Even if it was just for the response on the boys face. Joe should definitely have been severely reprimanded for that. Very unprofessional.
Marv still looks the exact same, like he could be starring in Home Alone 3 today if he wanted to, they didn't even put his name on screen if you pay attention we know who he is lol
I love this movie alot. Its allways fun to see "enemies" be nice when u watch clips like this. Actors can hate each other in the movie or series, but backstage they are often friends.
"With the wrong kid it could have been an obnoxious child" * points to the Home Alone sequels after 2 that no one asked for * Ya don't say? They obviously didn't keep that in mind. We'll never get another true Kevin.
I know Pesci had some roles like Raging Bull n Lethal Weapon 2 but he had Goodfellas and this film come out one month after each other. Talk about a good year lol.

When Daniel Stern says "That's when I think I copied a scream out from Psycho", that makes me realize two things. In the first Home Alone movie and in the second Home Alone movie when Marv screams a shrill voice, there's always an Alfred Hitchcock element taking place. First it's Psycho and then The Birds
Little did they know that in 30 years it would still be a Christmas classic!
I guess if it is in style after 15 years, it will also be after 30.
