The owners of the house have no right to stop people filming their house when the individuals are OUTSIDE of the gate. That’s public property as it’s a sidewalk and doesn’t belong to them. The fact that they actually turned the water sprinklers on them like they were animals makes me think they don’t deserve the house they’re living in. It’s sad really because you must have to be quite a miserable and unhappy person to have an issue with someone finding joy from the property you live in. I get some satisfaction that they’re not happy with themselves which is why they behave like they do. Your response was perfect though. You’ve gotta laugh at people like that. They deserve it lol
That’s nothing. Try going to Walt’s house from Breaking Bad. The owners sit in the garage all day with the door open, and shout at anyone who comes by to look at the house. Really sad that they are so bitter.

Not gonna lie...I started crying when I saw the church interior. Home alone is my favorite Christmas movie and this was one of my favorite scenes... 💯 Carol of the Bells is my favorite too! I sang it for our holiday choir performance as a Freshman and was so proud to be first soprano. I didn't realize that it was likely bc of my love for Home Alone until now ❤
What's really nice is that the church hasn't done renovation or upgrade work that has changed the look from all those years ago. I'm sure they haven't avoided doing work just to preserve the look, but it's neat that you guys got to go inside and it looks pretty much the same as it did in the movie.
I cried too. I cried for all of those who died because of covid, all the families devasted by disease, war, lack, poverty, I pray they all have peace and joy but most importantly they are surrounded by their loved ones this Christmas..
Musical artist that did “O Holy Night” in the church scene please? Also, 3 years late but hell of a job guys! Makes me want to board a plane and head for Winnetka right now. Actually every year I watch this. Soon!

Wow I'm literally up watching home alone 🤣. They cut the sprinklers on and you guys were only on the sidewalk. Still a great video. I really enjoy videos like this. I myself love taking my family to various locations in and around Chicago to see where some of the older movies were filmed.
Home Alone had real snow (end scene) and a lot of fake snow (park...ice skating rink etc). Christmas Story is said to be fake snow. None the less...it all looks great. 👍
I live in Illinois, and sadly thats what ya get when you go that far north in the state. A bunch of snobs that turn the sprinklers on because they think they're better than you.
Since Walt Disney owns the rights to Home Alone now after buying Fox. They should buy the McCallister house and make it an iconic location. Universal Studios had to buy the Toretto house from the Fast and Furious for those very reasons of tourist visiting the location frequently. The studios responsible for such iconic films should just buy those iconic properties so the public can visit them.
LOVE THIS!! What a beautiful home. I recently watched a video from an interview of the girl (now woman) who lived their during the filming. She was young.. maybe Macaulay’s age at the time? Anyway, she spoke about the experience and how wonderful it was. The family was surprised by how successful the movie became. She said she knew something “great was happening”when filming but didn’t realize the scope of how deeply this movie would touch people. As you mentioned, it IS THE MOVIE of a generation and an all-time classic! I am watching part 2 right now. Absolutely love both of them. Another thing the woman mentioned was that the family came to appreciate the love and adoration fans had for the movie and the house. As people lined up outside their house in winter 1990 after the film was released to take pictures of and to witness in person the house. Eventually, it grew on the family the winters/years after and it became part of Christmas for her. Pretty damn cool! Sadly tho, that family moved out a few years back and others live there now but.. truly an awsome house and always loved it. Anytime I pass by a house that looks even remotely similar , I think about this house. Absolutely perfect for this movie. Such an amazing movie. I HAVE to go visit that house myself one day. Would be fantastic! Thanks for the video!
I would agree with that. Jacob Marley was the ghost, who rattled his chains and wandered around tormented by his lifetime’s actions. He was a warning to Scrooge, “you could end up like me.” Scrooge wanted to have nothing to do with him.
Uncle Frank is comically cheap. Go back and check all the spots... Doesn't pay for pizza, only has travelers checks, asks if the champagne is free, steals the crystal from first class ... It's a great running joke
If I owned the McCallister's house I: a) Wouldn't have gotten rid of the garage b) Wouldn't sprinkler people for sight seeing c) Would have a cardboard cut out of Kevin just as @Porkchop Express mentioned. Shame they have gotten numb to how awesome that house is
This is great... Great movie. I'm always taking friends and relatives from out of town here. Have to say, the original owners allowed everyone to come by and into their property. Such a great old couple. The new ones who moved in maybe 7 years ago, changed it. I can understand, it's hard when everyday they get visitors as well. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy
The new owners dosent respect the house meaning for the world. Only as a way to get the price down. I hope the next owners will respect the world, and once a year grant a filmcrew promission to film inside. Thats the way to respect a holy grail
It’s really interesting to see the surroundings of the scenes & little clips of the part of the movie your talking about. The church part is my favorite part. When I was a kid, I liked that part when they’re running through the airport, cause of the song, run, run Rudolph. I have that song on my iPhone. 😆
I have to admit something... I'm a cashier at a grocery store and sometimes i talk about that scene at 9:05 (when Kevin walks home with his grocery bags) to my clients... some of them get it and laugh, some of them don't know what i'm talking about.
Once you enter the church it feels peacefully Like if you don't want to leave after a moment & I'm not a Christian or Catholic But I love going in to churches time to time✌️
Home alone is not only my favorite Christmas movie, but it is my most favorite movie of all time. Great video. Hope you do a home alone 30 years anniversary podcast. Thank you.
Same here, or at top 10. I struggle to chose only one. But its definitely a magical one, along with home alone 2. ❤️I had a huge crush on Macaulay Culkin growing up. Watched and owned all of his movies. Richie rich, the good son, my girl etc.
Would be nice to see the home owned by someone who embraces the home’s cinematic history instead of someone who is petty enough to turn sprinklers on those admiring it.
It's a tough, because on one hand we have total respect for private property and privacy of those who own famous places. On the other hand, we struggle to understand why someone would be so against admiring from afar.
I understand it must be annoying at times having people want to see a famous home but why buy when they know. From what I've seen in picture's it's all changed inside and has been modernised, Shame really but good effort trying guy's!
It is without a doubt, one of the best Christmas movies ever made. It has become a tradition for me to watch it during the holidays along with Home Alone 2, Die Hard and the 1951 version of Scrooge. If these movies doesn't put you in the holiday mood, nothing will.
There’s an older video about the Home Alone locations that got to film in the backyard. It’s sad the owners don’t care about the significance and history of the house. It’s like buying the White House and getting annoyed that people are drawn to your property. I mean what did you expect? Wanna buy the batmobile for your daily driver and then get annoyed with people taking pictures, too?
This was the first movie I ever saw in a movie theatre. I was 6 years old. I grew up watching this movie every Christmas with my family. Brings back such great memories. I've always been obsessed with this movie. The music by John Williams is just so magical. I own the soundtrack and listen to it every Christmas. The Home Alone House is just beautiful. The casting was perfect. How I feel about Home Alone is how my dad feels about A Christmas Story. Both are great Christmas classics. I just have always had a connection with Home Alone. I secretly stalk this house and saw it was for sale a few years ago. I found a realtor on RUclips who did a tour of the home. The pervious owners have since updated everything. The people who bought this house apparently don't like people coming to take pictures near it. That honestly makes me upset. This is a famous house from one of the best Christmas movies in my opinion that has touched so many of our hearts. They shouldn't have purchased it if thats an issue for them. What Assholes! A gate is not going to stop people from coming to photograph it. I would love to purchase this home one day and restore it to exactly how it was in the movie. Around Christmas time I would give tours of the home and serve hot coco to anyone who visited it. Just a little dream I have. My son is two and I can't wait for us to start a tradition of watching it together every year. Thanks so much for the great video. You guys are the best! I would never turn the sprinklers on you. God I just want to punch the owners now.
I worked in the Chicago area for the past few Summers and had the opportunity to visit these locations, and all other locations from John Hughes’s films. Neal Page’s house from “Planes Trains and Automobiles” is a few neighborhoods down from the Mcallister’s home. Was so cool to see these areas in person.

Very kind words! Thank you for the comment and for watching. Be sure to like, subscribe, shar.....j/k. ;)
🤣
@@thesteaktc Imagine having complete strangers coming to your house non-stop, many of them throwing pizza on your roof. I would imagine you would get tired of it pretty quickly too.
@@psychomoth06 yes then I would move, not spend my day waiting for people to show up so I can shout at them. Plus, I’m under the impression these people bought the house after it was famous, so it makes even less sense why you would do that if you don’t want people looking. They put up fences to stop people throwing pizzas on the roof lol.
Damn wtf maybe the sprinklers were set up for that Time and it happened to be when they were there wtf is wrong with ppl always assuming evil negative f*****!!
Not gonna lie...I started crying when I saw the church interior. Home alone is my favorite Christmas movie and this was one of my favorite scenes... And ever since then, I love hearing youth choirs sing. This movie absolutely made Carol of the bells my favorite Christmas song. Thank you for making this documentary. Not sure if I'll ever be able to see the locations in person so it was a rare treat to go along on the journey with you guys...
These are the comments that keep us going. Thank you for sharing. Our heart and intent is to include viewers on our adventures and help them remember why these movies mean so much to us all. Really glad you enjoyed it. Check out our other episodes and let us know what you think. :)
Soon!
Got a bit emotional during the church speech! Merry Christmas everyone, stay safe

How sad that is that they put the sprinklers on if they don't like the attention buy a house somewhere else.
Cant wait. This movie deserves a 30 year anniversary podcast.
Love it!
Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell? God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.
This is the Gospel which means the Good News. Turn to Christ and live.

With Joe Rogan, everyone smoking huge blunts, and then Joe asking everyone if they’ve done DMT since shooting Home Alone. 😆
They turned the sprinklers on so that they can slip the way harry did in the front entrance. LOL.
Christmas is not Christmas without Home Alone. I'm from Brazil and watching this movie every year since 9 years old.
Thank you for amazing job.
Greetings, Brazil!
Just fantastic as always. I can't believe they turned the sprinklers on you... that is pretty mean spirited especially as you guys are always extremely respectful. Keep up the brilliant work 👏
All good! We respect the fact people live in these places. It shows that sometimes no one can gain access to these historic spots. We soldier on, though! Thanks for watching!
It could have ruined your equipment
The house is actually blurred out on Google Earth. I've seen Marty's House from Back to the Future and at least the owners aren't punks, unless you walk into their property.
Why purchase a home from one of the greatest movies and not expect people to admire it?Turning on the sprinklers was childish 😩
It’s kind of funny. Also, what if they’re set on a timer and it was just a coincidence 🤔
@@realkushman I thought it was funny.
Yea we have a neighbor who has a sprinkler with a sensor coz they'll be dog owners who does not pick up their dogs doo doo...😤 So they get showered on
You can tell there was alot of effort put in to this

We had a blast shooting this episode!!!
Great work my friend, I really enjoy your videos, they are great quality! I am sharing with my friends, your content deserves way more views! Andy, England 🙂
Wow I'm literally up watching home alone 🤣. They cut the sprinklers on and you guys were only on the sidewalk. Still a great video. I really enjoy videos like this. I myself love taking my family to various locations in and around Chicago to see where some of the older movies were filmed.
Great job Curtis!
Am I wrong or was it shot in warm weather months, hence all the snow being “fake.” Or is that A Christmas Story?
Home Alone had real snow (end scene) and a lot of fake snow (park...ice skating rink etc). Christmas Story is said to be fake snow. None the less...it all looks great. 👍
Damn, just felt some Christmas atmosphere dude! Y’all great, ty for this video 🙃
I live in Illinois, and sadly thats what ya get when you go that far north in the state. A bunch of snobs that turn the sprinklers on because they think they're better than you.
This movie never gets old. Look forward to watching every year 1 and 2.
Same! Thanks for watching!
You guys deserve more subs. RUclips is tricky these days, lots of people on it. Hard to get going don't give up. Persistence is key.

Home Alone, what a magical Christmas film.
John Hughes made all those great movies in that area.
8:12 Proof that the Wet Bandits live in that house now.
Right?! 😂
i am dead :D :D :D :D :D
I wonder why they chose the name "Old man Marley" maybe to connect the infamous Marley name from "A Christmas Carol", who knows.
Great question! Thanks for watching!
I would agree with that. Jacob Marley was the ghost, who rattled his chains and wandered around tormented by his lifetime’s actions. He was a warning to Scrooge, “you could end up like me.” Scrooge wanted to have nothing to do with him.
They were inspired by Kevin to turn the sprinklers on.
KEVINNNNNNNNNNNNNN
As a kid i always wondered what Kevins dad did for a living to afford this home and taking the entire family to Paris
😂😂😂
I think he made a good deal of money. haha Thanks for watching and commenting!

Did ye actually watch the movie ya nugget? It’s no even his dad who pays for the holiday. It’s his uncle ya maddy.
@@Irishlad1916 its the dad who pays for the holiday. The uncle and his family don't pay anything towards it.
Uncle Frank is comically cheap. Go back and check all the spots... Doesn't pay for pizza, only has travelers checks, asks if the champagne is free, steals the crystal from first class ... It's a great running joke

The garage was never really there! Just built for the movie! I think!?
We were thinking the same!
If I owned the McCallister's house I:
a) Wouldn't have gotten rid of the garage
b) Wouldn't sprinkler people for sight seeing
c) Would have a cardboard cut out of Kevin just as @Porkchop Express mentioned.
Of course. We want to always respect these locations as they are where people live. Thanks for watching!
They played a home alone prank on you- that’s hilarious
HAHAHA! Hey, we don't mind. It made for an entertaining moment for Curtis and crew. Thanks for watching!
A guy I know that is in Ny bought the nativity scene and puts it up every year a long with a whole show of lights!
Wait the nativity scene from home alone?
I’ll be there!
You better be, Nick P. Hahaha
@@BeyondtheBacklot lol Almost done w Part 2!!
That's lovely! Thanks so much for watching. We hope you enjoyed it.
I’m 38 and I watch this movie with my kids every single year during Christmas.
Awesome! That's the best tradition. Thanks for watching.
If you dont want attention, dont buy a famous movie home. Plain and simple.
I have to admit something... I'm a cashier at a grocery store and sometimes i talk about that scene at 9:05 (when Kevin walks home with his grocery bags) to my clients... some of them get it and laugh, some of them don't know what i'm talking about.
Once you enter the church it feels peacefully Like if you don't want to leave after a moment & I'm not a Christian or Catholic But I love going in to churches time to time✌️
Well said. There was a total tranquility there...we felt it as a crew. So glad to bring that experience to Home Alone fans. Thanks for watching!

Same here, or at top 10. I struggle to chose only one. But its definitely a magical one, along with home alone 2. ❤️I had a huge crush on Macaulay Culkin growing up. Watched and owned all of his movies. Richie rich, the good son, my girl etc.

"Kevin not is not here" I miss him the little boy....merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 and happy new year 🎉
I used to live above Panera bread in Winnetka back in early 2000’s
Crazy!
Would be nice to see the home owned by someone who embraces the home’s cinematic history instead of someone who is petty enough to turn sprinklers on those admiring it.
It's a tough, because on one hand we have total respect for private property and privacy of those who own famous places. On the other hand, we struggle to understand why someone would be so against admiring from afar.
its my dream!
@@BeyondtheBacklot Sprinkler systems are set up automatically, no chance they were watching from the garage waiting for people to turn them on.
I understand it must be annoying at times having people want to see a famous home but why buy when they know. From what I've seen in picture's it's all changed inside and has been modernised, Shame really but good effort trying guy's!
Thanks for joining us as we got soaked 🤣🤣 no biggie though. We get it. Onward to the next location for movie nostalgia!

We feel the same way. :)
The exterior of the main house is all you need anyway. They didn use the interior in the movie. The interior was all made in a studio.
It was actually built in a high school gym in the town!
Our ask was to see the exterior up close, see the backyard, etc. We never asked to go inside, no point in that. 😁
They would have used the interior when he went flying down stair and out the door..
@@johnnylees2597 Literally all the interior shots were done in the studio. There's a "Movies that Made Us" about it.
@@payette8 I've watched movies that made us, very good show...I've figured they used the house for only those scenes...
This one is gonna be great! As usual of course!
Update: and to no surprise it lived up to it! This was great!

I was 4 years old when this came out.
It is without a doubt, one of the best Christmas movies ever made. It has become a tradition for me to watch it during the holidays along with Home Alone 2, Die Hard and the 1951 version of Scrooge. If these movies doesn't put you in the holiday mood, nothing will.
Does anybody know what Peter McAlister did for living? Its an unsolved mystery
Love checking out filming location videos. Very excited for this. Did you get IN the house?
Stay tuned...
Something interesting happens at the house :)
Yep! We have seen that video -- great stuff and access. Thought we could bring the same...alas we soldier on to more locations! Thanks for watching!
Wow -- what a wonderful comment! We couldn't agree more with what you said. Thanks so much for watching. And Merry Christmas!

One of my favorite Christmas movies of all time went to nyc two years ago to visit the hotel and the park where the shot a lot of the movie
Our way of paying tribute to Hughes, right?
