To this day, Forrest Gump is still one of my all time favorite movies.
never thought that Forrest Gump would become my favorite movie too
same
So happy that a sequel wasn't made, Forrest Gump stands on its own merit.
Yet
@@OLIVERWASMYNAMEFIRST right.... I came to say they're probably gonna remake it before we know it.
@@blvckphillip3917 why would they remake it

Forrest Gump will always be a masterpiece of movie history
A masterpiece of Tom hanks life.
Yes!!!
As is Saving Private Ryan
A film I can watch over and over again and never get tired of it. A masterpiece
Mee Too amongst my to 3 movies of all time
That one and Shawshank Redemption. I think I’ve watched it at least a hundred times .
Even went to Zihuatanejo looking for them . Great resort town just in case I didn’t find Red or Andy .
One of the best films ever made
You bet
honestly
Imagine if the Alabama State Po-lice mistook Forest Gump for a raccoon before chasing him out his house with a broom-handle?
So fun to see Forrest Gump doing a perfect Tom Hanks impression.
Agreed
So weird hearing Hanks’ normal voice dressed as Forrest Gump. Favorite actor of all time.
Yeah thought that too 😅
Tom Hanks was on Graham Norton and explained that originally, Forrest was not going to talk that way. The actor they chose as young Forrest Gump talked that way. They really liked him and wanted to hire him. Rather than making a child change his manner of speaking, Tom Hanks changed HIS speech to match. Ironically, the actor changed his speech as he got older and didn't speak that way as an adult.
Almost puppet-like
And we in Germany are even more surprised about the voice 😂
This was the year Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption were all up for the Oscar...what an amazing year for movies!
What a year.
The 90s was an amazing decade for movies.
Come to think of it, this movie just turned 29 today!! Happy Birthday to this movie! July 6th, 1994!!
People looked way more happy and relaxed back in 1993/1994 :(. Internet and smartphones has destroyed humana..
Nah… we were still just as confused and fixated on superficial things as we are now. But I’m with you those things have made stuff much more complicated.
💯 totally agree
I worked on Forrest Gump, and man was it good to see the sets I spent so many hours in and those crew faces after all these years.
This video brings back so many memories of me as I was in my late 20s.
Great video!
Must of been so fascinating.
@@Dan-qt7kq At the time it was a job....we had no idea what it was to become!
Wow, What a movie, How lucky were you, A great story for the grandchildren
I happened to drive by the Gump house location(an hour from home) the other day and made a short drone video of the nearby wetlands.
Thanks for contributing to a classic that helped shape my childhood.
"You died on a Saturday morning." Saddest movie line l ever heard.
Gary Sinise is amazing in this, such a great actor along side Tom Hanks also with Apollo 13
Love Gary Sinise. Sgt Dan made was a great character
In Forrest Gump, Tom Hanks saved Gary Sinise‘s life. In Apollo 13, Gary Sinise saved Tom Hanks’ life.
Great documentary.
This movie covers so many aspects of life, love, hate, trust, desperation, disappointment, happiness, loss - it's all there. Believable and touching.
A masterpiece.
I love Tom Hanks , This was a great movie and love story
You guys all wear ass hats
That's why it took all these Oscars away from Pulp Fiction - another masterpiece.
Indeed! A masterpiece thru and thru that's worthy of lasting many, many generations.
and sadly he was simping a wrong woman.
Forrest Gump is MASTERFUL story telling. This is one of those rare movies that has a genius screenplay, talented cast, and great directing
Also one of those rare movies that is actually better - way better - than the book, which in my opinion is the biggest load of shit ever written.
@@bradwilliams1691 What did you do first? Read the book or watch the film?
@@coriscotupi Movie first, then book. In my opinion however, it doesn't make any difference in what order its done.
and an incredible soundtrack
@@bradwilliams1691 The reason I asked is because it's my opinion that we tend to prefer the first medium and consider the second one worse. But of course, the book may indeed be just plain bad.
This movie was such a huge part of my childhood. It was such a bonding experience for me and my grandparents. After we would watch this, they would recall so many of their own memories from the 50s, 60, and 70’s. I’m so thankful for those stories, no matter how tragic some were.
This movie connected generations
Man, look how young Tom Hanks is!! This movie is one of my top 5 favorite movies. Although it makes me cry every time.

You really don't think about all that goes into making a movie, especially one of this magnitude, until you watch something like this. It's a brilliant masterpiece. The ups and downs, love, hate, loss, grief, inspiration, friendship....it's all there and I can watch it over and over again.
Me too I could watch it on repeat and never get tired... Everytime m left with soaked eyes on many scenes of the movie

Gary, one of a kind person. Us veterans just love him!!!
Gary Sinise is a wonderful and talented performer and actor!
Holy Moley, this could have been a 4-hour documentary on the filming of the movie and I would have watched every minute. Absolutely fascinating. And yikes what a hard job to be a film actor! Stage is hard too, but this is a whole other thing. Loved this video.
Acting looks easy but by seeing how Field and Hanks consider and study every movement, it’s clear that acting isn’t easy
This is so awesome! You know you’ve got fantastic actors when it’s a shock to see them go in and out of character during this process! Such an incredible movie with the best actors!!

Beautiful movie! The only movie or time in life I’ve seen my husband shed a tear when Sally passed.
It warms the soul to see two individuals from different races Bubba and Forest find a simple friendship that is on a mammoth scale.
Different races? And here we were thinking they were just two Americans.
@@Millennialmonitor Bravo....
it was a movie kiddo.
Being shot at together tends to make folks bond pretty tightly.
@@Millennialmonitor Of course. Two Americans. But, different races are still a real thing, though. To acknowledge the reality is ok.
Hearing Tom Hanks' real voice dressed as Forrest is uncanny.

Like hearing Dustin Hoffman speak normal dressed like Rainman (Raymond)
Forrest Gump was my favorite movie in the ‘90s.
I thank everyone who was involved in this masterpiece.
Clearly for me personally...This was the best movie ever made!!! I couldn't see anyone but Tom Hanks playing Forrest✌️❤️
What a great example of a director's vision coming to life on screen
Bob Z is without a doubt one of my favorite directors.
None of them had any idea when they were filming this how big this film was going to end up being ... So glad they had a behind the scenes camera capturing some of this.
They can all thank Tom Hanks for that.
what a good film
If Tom Hanks wasn't in the movie, I don't think the movie would've been sooo great. I can't see no one playing Forest like he did. Tom Hanks is my favorite male actor. he is truly an artist
You know you’re getting old when you watched this film for the first time and saw the actors as old enough to be your parents, but when watching them now you feel that you could be _their_ parent.
It's crazy!
👍🏼😁
Not any more is Tom Hanks older enough to be your parent.
What a career Hanks has had. He really owned the 90s and has made some incredible films. I remember as little kid watching Busom Buddies sitcom. He really blew up after that.
Owned the 80s too! As a kid, saw him in splash and never looked back! John Candy and Eugene Levy are amazing in that movie as well 👍
What's funny is I liked Peter Scolari more than Tom Hanks in Bosom Buddies. But boy it didn't take me long after that to realize how amazing Hanks is. I still love Peter Scolari.
@@triciac1019 Me too! That was a great show. I believe Peter Scolari passed away not long ago 😢

Wow…sally was gorgeous and made such a convincing momma…
She used to clear her throat and prep her vocal cords in a dark corner of the sound stage before she went into the set. It was one of the most peculiar sounds that I have ever heard, esp coming from demure Sally.
I was born in 77' . When I was old enough to actually sit down and watch and understand movies it was awesome! I married my wife just out of high school 1996 .Just had 26yr anniversary last month. Forest Gump came out about the time we started dating and alot of times go to the movies and they were mostly great. Now we have thousands of movies at the touch of a button or two but most are crap. I think the last fairly good movie we watched was Only the Brave 5yrs ago.
Jo Jo rabbit is a great recent one (directed by Taika Waititi). Hard to categorise but like this movie it hits many emotions and the story is well done.
Being an INDIAN I can say this is the Best Movie I have ever seen in my Life. It has everything, Emotions Exactly We INDIAN feels. That's why this Movie became Globally Famous.👏TOM HANKS 🥳
Amazing how much Colin looks like his Dad
Almost everything Tom Hanks touches turns to gold. This is definitely one of those movies when you see it playing while channel surfing you stop and watch at least one segment.
Cloud Atlas still has me stumped big time and seen it 5 times.
I was traveling last weekend and caught it on TV in the hotel room. I watched the entire move... again. lol. Probably watched it a dozen times now.
@@aceace605 Thats hilarious cause its my go-to hotel movie. I travel for work quite often and no matter where i stay, I can always find Forrest Gump on a channel lol!
1994: Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, and Pulp Fiction. Those three films in one year is crazy.
Incredible they filmed a movie of this scale that fast. You hear of movies whose production and shooting go totally off the rails, but this one was done amazingly fast for the incredible amounts of scenes and variety it contains, plus all the complexity of the shots.
Tons of planning can do that, but it's not easy.
This is likely because the crew and actors had respect for one another so efficient communication and consolidated problem solving was in play. From what I was told by a friend who works with actors/crew members on set, some directors/actors are REALLY controlling, aggressive, toxic and arrogant for no reason other than the fact they can without suffering any form of discipline. She said the nicest actors she worked with was Nicholas Cage and Will Ferrell. Her worst was Meryl Streep, at least for that particular movie. She said Cage randomly took her whole team out to eat and then bought an Xbox for someone who wanted one. She said Ferrell is like the complete opposite of who he acts like on film, very respectful and shy.

Tom Hanks is such an amazing actor. He does everything wholeheartedly. Truly the best of our time.
I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, so I'm very familiar with the whole area. I was in downtown Savannah working during the filming, so I was fortunate enough to watch them film this movie and many others filmed downtown. It's cool to watch.
this footage is absolutely priceless
Although they moved away after the Civil War, south, to Savannah, Georgia, my family was originally from Beaufort, South Carolina, after immigrating from Ireland in the 1750s. I had ancestors from Beaufort who fought in both the Revolutionary and the Civil war.
It just blows my mind, that the best movie from 1994 was headquartered in my ancestors old hometown.
And what a coincidence that the infamous bus stop scene should be shot in Savannah, where my family moved to, from Beaufort. Wow.
I lived most of my life in Jacksonville, Florida, where my family ended up moving to from Savannah, but I do remember visiting Savannah in 2000. And it was the beautiful and quaint historic section, where this scene was shot.
I’ve seen this film a 100 times or more and the one thing I can say is it always puts a smile on my face so sometimes when I feel a bit down this is the move I put on love this movie from start to finish
This is my favorite movie as it brings back so many memories of when I was growing up. Laughed and cried. Tom Hanks is a great actor 👍
Gump is in my top ten of all time . It is truly a Masterpiece of the “art of film making “.
what a good film
One of the most remarkable movies ever made. I've worked on staff at several movies and just to see all the people, behind the scenes, brings back memories. It wasn't all rainbows and butterflies, though....mostly a lot of hurry up and wait and untold amounts of tedium. It's almost unbelievable how many pieces come together to make even a passable movie. I remember one of the Producer's staff running around with pockets of cabbage and giving it out to whoever needed to be paid...1099's, W-2's? No way....all cash and carry and everyone loved it!
what a good film
It feels like it was just a little while ago that I saw this movie in the theater...can't believe it's been close to 30 YEARS!!!
Oh wow, that is shocking, 30 years.
I grew up watching this I’m 24 years old now and my life has turned to a movie
I've taken movies of family and Scouts using a digital camera then spent hours with Premiere Pro editing sound and video into a story maybe 10 minutes long and IT WAS TOUGH. What we just saw was the very difficult but visible part of movie making. What we didn't see was all the work the movie editor has to do after shooting stops to take tens of hundreds if not thousands of scenes and put them all together to make something people will enjoy watching. In my opinion, the editor and his staff never get the recognition they deserve for the FINAL making of a movie. Acting and directing, etc. are necessary, of course for a great movie, but it's the never-ever-seen Editor who has the final say, so to speak, in whether the movie truly is a masterpiece. My 'hats off' to all of you motion picture editors.
I love this movie I never new they had behind the scenes the first time I seen this movie I was 13 years old I was 8 years old when this movie came out but my mom and dad wated tell I was 13 years old to watch the movie my mama and daddy loved watching this movie too Tom Hanks is a great actor I love him in all the Toy story movies I still watch toy story and forrest Gump to this day ❤

Tom is one of the best actors ever! And he seem to be a genuine nice guy. Love this movie
Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise are both such good actors. They turn into their movie characters in whatever movie they are in.
This had everything in it Action, comedy, Drama, and a amazing story line acted beautifully. This is the best movie ever made
Tom Hanks is just one of those gorgeous beautiful public/role-model type souls and I’m so glad he’s still so active. So many of his projects are amazing. Guy is modest he is humble, he is basically a comedy and dramatic genius. And manages to age gracefully and behave gracefully too. I’m so sad that we lost Bernie Mac about 14 years ago because he because he was one of those people too.
Gary Senise (Lt. Dan) is an amazing man too
omg I cant believe its 14 years already. I litteraly went on google to check out the date. I loved his spirit! He is missed.
Its no wonder then, that Tom is related to Fred “Mr.” Rogers.😌✨

My dad was at the school they filmed the football part, and they said that they needed some extras for the football scene. For some crazy reason, he didn’t go. If he had, he could’ve been part of the movie. He regrets not going a lot now 😂
Bob Zemeckis could probably do the best voice impression of Tom Hanks, they really sound naturally alike
I have just enough knowledge of how screenplays are created, and what makes a brilliant script, and this one is off the charts.
Too, Bob Zemeckis also had another movie also with an off the charts screenplay with Back to the Future.

i still cant get over the fact how the woman in this movie treated forrest gump, its heartbreaking, she had all the fun she could have had in her life, messed up and only then at the end they come together. And Forrest ran all his life for her.
She was broken, probably had PTSD, that's not fair to say. And just because he wanted her, doesn't mean he gets her.
@@doveandpatch at the end they got together because her young pretty time was over, that lifestyle is pretty common. Having fun when you are young and pretty and then settle in for life.
